Summary

  • A crowd of speakers and observers gathers in Moot Hall's Observation Balcony for the hearing on whether Thadston is fit to serve as marshal of the militia. Judge Renpaw and Marshal Thadston arrive, and Renpaw requests that he proceed downstairs. He does so and a flicker of azure light dances across his neck while Renpaw prepares for the proceedings.
  • Renpaw asks Mayor Leafiara to recount her concerns about the marshal and she says two: unauthorized use of militia resources outside our jurisdiction for Operation Stonewall, and a magical affliction surrounding him which he refuses to explain and makes him prone to erratic behavior.
  • Renpaw asks who of the Faendryl Enclave are here tonight (acting as his defense), and Lylia and [[::Xorus_Kul'shin|Xorus]] identify themselves. (So does Tolida, but she wouldn't proceed to act as defense.) Lylia affirms that they're here to address specious concerns about Thadston's fitness to serve, in light of other town council members' own colorful histories.
  • Renpaw opens a signup list to speak and make statements or ask questions, respectfully. Thadston can choose to answer, his representatives may offer for him, or he may make a counter statement in his defense; likewise, the mayor and anyone she wishes may offer counter statements to anything spoken in favor of Thadston. [OOC note: I mention this in the log too for anyone who skips the summary, but I was expecting it to be less like Team Leafi and Team Enclave having shots at cross-examination (what Renpaw was essentially proposing) and more like Pylasar's trial, in which Cordarius and Vlashandra were down on the floor at all times responding to anything that was said. To that end, I actually thought Leafi wasn't allowed to sign up for the list herself and we got off to a pretty awkward start because of it.] Renpaw admits we've not had a hearing like this in his lifetime, but says justice will prevail.
  • For full detail on the courtroom statements, see the log. To attempt to summarize would be either redundant to the statements made (if too comprehensive) or not do them justice (if too reductive). Suffice it to say that (for varying reasons in each case) Chandrellia supports Thadston's removal, Vaemyr supports Thadston's removal, Lylia and Xorus defend that the marshal can act outside town gates, Xorus opposes Thadston's removal, Captain Stormyrain and Captain Shinann support Thadston's removal, Taulramil says town defenders have lost faith in him, Faerinn supports Thadston's removal, Lylia says we should not presume Thadston is being controlled but is the controller of the azure light, Leafi supports Thadston's removal, Chamorr opposes Thadston's removal (I think), Umbazi reiterates that Thadston's not answering questions, and Uskeye stresses that Thadston subjecting himself to an examination would be in the best interest of the town.
  • Casiphia enters the court room during Chamorr's statements and proceeds to the balcony to sign the list, becoming the last to join. During her turn, she provokes the azure light and says Thadston is unwell. He died in the Bleaklands and believes this magic is his wife holding him together and saving him. Thadston inches toward her and she warns the light back or she'll cut it out of him herself.
  • Thadston declares this a farce and everyone weak failures, saying Stormy wasn't worth it to Altheorn, Lylia wasn't worth it to Silvean, Shinann wasn't worth it to her father, and Casiphia wasn't worth it to Disean, himself, or her sister--who she failed and can never fix that. He spits and scowls, then leaves. Lylia asks Casiphia if she has to deal with this all the time and she says yes and he's a danger to himself. She says he's told her so little of what happened, but once in his nightmares called the magic a Bleakwalker. She fears part of him wants this, as he's claimed to her before that she was all he had left. She hopes the judge will do the right thing and we need to help him and have this behind us.

Yardie says, "And the rats followed us. This truly is a political meeting."
Gutstorm drunkenly says, "Me no like da way Fadshtin grabbed Shtormierainsh arm, he to grabby. Dat now how you hannul a lady unlesh itsh in private."
A flicker of azure light dances across Thadston's neck.
Archales says, "I think we can skip to the not fit part now."
Guennwhfar exclaims, "Hey! We prefer our slaves malleable and obedient!"
Speaking to Guennwhfar, Yardie says, "Malleable? Ob.."
Speaking to Yardie, Guennwhfar says, "Oh, I was using big words; my bad, sorry."
Speaking to Guennwhfar, Yardie says, "With all due respect, you've never used words bigger than fight and kill."
Leafiara yells, "I would like to make a rebuttal to this and bring Captain Stormyrain with me!"
Renpaw nods.
Lylia smoothly says, "By all means."
Mayor Leafiara's group just climbed down a narrow stairway.
Lylia asks, "Shall I remain, or...?"
Lylia glances at a narrow stairway.
Leafiara amiably offers, "By all means."
Renpaw says, "Excuse me, excuse me."
Renpaw says, "You have both used By All Means."
Renpaw says, "That falls under my authority."
Renpaw says, "To be issuing All the Means."
Renpaw says, "Yes Lylia please return to the balcony. For the sake of, well, no blood tonight."
From below a narrow stairway, you hear Renpaw yell, "Chamorr!"
Chamorr yells, "I dinna do it, honest!"
Lord Chamorr just climbed down a narrow stairway.
Evia says, "Let me guess..imps this, imps that, imps blah blah, imps, blah blah guilty."
Speaking to Ysharra, Raelee says, "I am here for my work, not to befriend the locals."
The voice of Gutstorm drunkenly says, "Dont lie, yer alsho here to get free food fer owlie, we on to you Raelee."
Thadston asks, "Who on the balcony has been the most supportive, and outspoken in such support, of the Rooks?"
Thadston says, "Look no further than your Mayor."
Pukk yells, "Wrong! I have been more supportive!"
Yardie says, "There needs to be alcohol in these hearings. The deliberations tug on one's sanity and sobriety."
Goblyn says, "He is maybe not very good at answering questions."
Gutstorm drunkenly says, "He ish TO goot at ansherin dem, he doesh lotsha mishrectionsh."
Gutstorm just poured his brandy out on Goblyn!
Speaking drunkenly to Goblyn, Gutstorm says, "Pardon me aim."
Speaking to Gutstorm, Goblyn complains, "Now I will smell gross until I do have a pile of corpses for rolling in."
Speaking to Umbazi, Lylia says, "Perhaps that is one of the reasons you object to him so mightily; he is also someone who is single-minded."
Speaking to Lylia, Pukk says, "Have you seen that glow about his neck? I don't think he is single-minded at all."
Leafiara comments, "Ahh, obfuscation, lovely."
Speaking to Leafiara, Pukk says, "Bless you."
Thadston says, "Do you fear me, because I openly support the Rooks? Because I murdered their King to become their new ruler?"
Thadston says, "That is not me I described."
Thadston says, "That is Mayor Leafiara."
Leafiara amusedly says, "Oh, who knew I'm the leader of the Rooks."
Leafiara says, "Certainly not me."
Speaking to Leafiara, Asben asks, "You're a ruler?"
Speaking to Leafiara, Vaemyr asks, "Should I start calling you Mother?"
Speaking to Vaemyr, Leafiara agrees, "Apparently so."
Speaking to Leafiara, Pukk asks, "You're the leader of the Rooks?"
Speaking heartily to Leafiara, Chamorr says, "Hey Mom."
Speaking to himself, Pukk mutters, "It all makes sense now.."
Speaking to Leafiara, Pukk exclaims, "So you are Mother then!"
Speaking to Leafiara, Pukk says, "All this time I was sure Stormy was Mother."
Speaking solemnly to Leafiara, Goblyn asks, "I will maybe not be calling you Mother Mayor Leafiara. It is better if you are just... Mayor Leafiara, yes?"
Gutstorm drunkenly says, "Momsh are hawt."
Leafiara agrees, "Oh, yes, I'm in two places at once. Mother is the Leafiara who Pylasar brought back from the future."
Speaking to Pukk, Stormyrain says, "You've seen Mother and I in conversation. I'm talented in song of mirrors but not that talented."
Pukk says, "Leafi is Mother, Gryphons are Rooks. The mutt and kitten living in peace..."
Speaking idly to Pukk, Leafiara reminds, "Future Leafi, of course."
Speaking to Pukk, Evia says, "Mutt and kitten are counter-intelligence agents."
Casiphia says, "I love Thadston."
Stormyrain says, "I also love Thadston."
Renpaw asks, "I also love Thadston?"
Lylia quietly says, "Inasmuch as I have room for it, I hold Thadston in high regard. Respect borne of years of working together...I suppose it is a kind of love."
Casiphia says, "That hurt. I bet."
Casiphia nods at Lylia.
Casiphia chuckles.
Pukk says, "A lot came out tonight. Leafi is Mother, Gryphons are Rooks, Stormy is in love with Thaddy...wow. A lot to take in."
Speaking lightly to Pukk, Leafiara asks, "Oh, you'll never let any of this go now, will you?"
Speaking mischievously to Leafiara, Pukk says, "Never."
Xorus says, "Thadston is the interim marshal. When we mend Thrayzar, he can resume his duties."
Casiphia asks, "He is still interim?"
Casiphia says, "I cannot keep track of frontier politics."
Speaking amusedly to Casiphia, Cruxophim informs, "No one can."
Speaking to Casiphia, Faerinn says, "If you don't know I don't think there is any hope."
Speaking amusedly to Casiphia, Goblyn says, "It is always in... disagreements and too much talking. That is all that you do need to be knowing, I think, of this politics."
Speaking to Leafiara, Lylia asks, "If you appoint a bloody Rook, I shall never let you hear the end of it. You know that, yes?"
Speaking lightly to Lylia, Leafiara says, "I know, and that won't happen."
Leafiara remarks, "Appointing Rooks is Puptilian's job."

Renpaw says, "Respectful means everyone, Thadston."
Chandrellia softly says, "I'm used to this kind of behavior from him as I have seen in the past actions from him, which is why I agree that he should be removed. He is a good man but not a good leader."
Lylia says, "The authority of the militia to act beyond the gates of town is hardly in dispute at all. While I fought tirelessly to expand the reach of the town's political power beyond its gates, we have already seen the actions of the militia beyond it."
Lylia says, "Towers and traps. Witch hunts. Fights taken to the hills and not on our city streets."
Lylia says, "This is what a militia is, what differentiates it from the city's constabulary. To say that the Town Marshal cannot act beyond the gates of town is to say he is merely a constable in a different uniform."
Thadston asks, "Am I unfit to be your Marshal?"
Stormyrain states, "In your current state, that is my opinion, yes."
Thadston squints slowly, less in anger, more of sorrow.
Thadston says, "I see."
Thadston says, "Tell me of my current state."
Speaking to Thadston, Stormyrain says, "You know why I say this. It is not a surprise to you. You could have asked for help, but instead you've allowed yourself and your judgement in turn to become compromised by her."
Thadston asks, "Is it the witch's curse that you fear? That the hex she placed on me years ago, that transformed me into an orc, and could perhaps make me a danger and liability at any time that worries you?"
Thadston says, "No? Because that is not me."
Thadston says, "That was Thrayzar."
Thadston says, "Yet he faced no..."
Thadston waves his hands around.
Thadston says, "This."
Stormyrain says, "I'm not fully aware of the true state of things. I know that anytime I am in proximity to you a female voice tells me to stay away. I feel the presence of her, and you have confirmed her as your 'ghost'."
Thadston says, "It wouldn't be the first time another woman has told you to stay away."
Speaking to Thadston, Stormyrain says, "And I fully believe she is the being that caused you to grab me by the arm several weeks back, in front of many in the balcony."
Stormyrain continues, "Against your own will."
Thadston says, "I am sorry you find this time of all times an opportunity to feel endangered."
Thadston says, "It is my duty to help protect this town from danger. That danger takes on many forms."
Thadston says, "Witches in shadows, Rooks in the tunnels or Moot Hall, Ithzir from another valence, or demons at our gates."
Goblyn mutters, "Maybe Thadston should be adding... 'this light that does encircle me in times' to this list he did make of dangers."
Evia says, "Our government has always suffered from issues with boundaries, it seems."
Faerinn says, "I can't speak to Thadston's behavior before his trip to my homelands. I recognize that he is a hero for it, and I respect that. But from what I have seen of his behavior during my campaign for Mayor up to this time shows he's unfit to continue his duty. The behavior of a man losing control. The extrajudicial killing of Glethad, manhandling his captains, threatening Glethad treatment to detractors, and most egregious of all Operation Stonewall."
Speaking to Thadston, Faerinn says, "You threw those recruits into a meat grinder! You may as well have taken the cane sword to them yourself. It would have been more merciful. And what did you gain for it? Petty vengeance through overreach of your power? There is a reason that people have trouble telling the guard apart from the Militia - Thadston's repeated overstepping of this court and the Constabulary's authority."
Speaking to Thadston, Faerinn says, "Maybe it's your azure passenger's fault. We don't know, because you refuse any help. You seem determined to finally die a hero, but you should not be allowed to take anyone else with you on your suicide pact."
Lylia confesses, "Really, there is little to offer here as the charges leveled at you are more the product of fevered unrest than logic. I am a bit at a loss."
Thadston says, "Perhaps the only thing left unsaid is how unfortunate the witch didn't get your blood too."
Thadston nods at Faerinn.
Faerinn asks, "Racism now?"
Faerinn says, "You are a lost cause Thadston."
Thadston coldly says, "No, you're right. It's just a shame you weren't above the mines when it all happened."
Stormyrain yells, "Can Thadston repeat what he last said, I could not quite hear it over the noise up here."
Thadston says, "I believe your list is growing impatient Judge."
Speaking to Thadston, Faerinn asks, "Can you no longer recognize the voice of your own captain?"
Thadston says, "If I had Captains, I would."
Lylia admits, "He is a man who is not concerned with popularity or consensus approval, and I do not always like him. I do, however, respect him -- and he remains who he always has been. Orderly of mind, dogged to a fault, uncompromising."
Lylia asks, "In what way did he exceed his authority as Town Marshal to bring back a wanted fugitive, the ally and self-described son of Grishom Stone, to serve the remaining twenty-eight years of his sentence?"
Goblyn curiously says, "He is maybe not showing that he did endure these attacks on his mind in this time..."
Evia says, "I would not have thought orderly of mind as ..."
Lylia asks, "In what way is he derelict in the defense of the town by standing athwart the 'Blood Son's' presumptive plans to inveigle the populace into following Grishom Stone as a new god?"
Leafiara says, "In fact, for all the talk of Thadston's past operations against the Rooks, it well parallels Rysus' own ill-fated operation against the Hendoran outpost when his true target was Dennet Kestrel."
Thadston says, "No one knows the Rooks better than you."
Thadston coldly says, "How well DO you know Rooks? I wonder woman..."
Thadston says, "It is the Captains who perhaps should be on trial now, for lack of respect and duty to their Marshal."
Stormyrain says, "As you said yourself, you do not recognize our place as Captains anymore."
Stormyrain can offer Thadston only a blank expression.
Thadston asks, "I did?"
Speaking to Thadston, Stormyrain says, "You did."
Stormyrain says, "Here, this night."
Thadston says, "When you publicly speak out against the Rooks, you can speak to me of integrity Mayor."
Leafiara says, "When you denounce your own dealings with them, I'll take that seriously."
Thadston says, "Until then, you're as hollow as Rysus's grave."
Thadston says, "Which is empty. Because you poisoned him and he turned to mush."
Leafiara inquires, "Jealous that I finished what you couldn't?"
Leafiara emphasizes, "Your dealings with Mother's Rooks outnumber mine two to zero."
Renpaw asks, "Mayor, you are up next on the list. Do you wish to add more statements?"
Leafiara says, "I'm quite done."
Leafiara nods at Renpaw.
Thadston says, "In Charlatos, you will be."
Thadston says, "I assume it should give you no more pause than the mind and memories of Reannah Kestrel inside Captain Shinann's head."
Thadston asks, "Were you present at her hearing?"
Shinann offers Stormyrain an etched militia badge.
Stormyrain declines Shinann's offer.
Thadston says, "No, you weren't."
Thadston says, "Because there wasn't one."
Stormyrain says, "I am not the one to take that, and it is not warranted. The memories you hold have never caused you to lose control, harm someone, and you are not in control of the entire militia's actions."
Thadston says, "The Brotherhood of the Rooks stand to profit and grow if I am removed or hindered."
Thadston asks, "Who on the balcony has been the most supportive, and outspoken in such support, of the Rooks?"
Thadston says, "Look no further than your Mayor."
Thadston says, "Who has abused her own office to seek me dismissed."
Thadston says, "When the double standard of possession, dark magic, instability, you name it, exists all around her."
Thadston says, "So dance, dance all you want Bear. If you can't see the strings, I can't help you."
Chamorr heartily says, "When you were trying to assert the dangers of such an army at our gates, did yer captains balk and disagree with yer assessment of the situation."
Thadston says, "The Captains were entangled with the Mayor, and the Gryphons, who all parties danced back and forth in aiding Malluch, not aiding Malluch, aiding him, not aiding him."
Thadston says, "Yet I do not see any Gryphons on trial this night. I wonder where their jurisdiction begins and ends."
Faerinn says, "We took them to the Temple to keep them from further harm from Thadston."
Faerinn says, "Because he was talking about burning those camps himself."
Speaking to Faerinn, Lylia says, "The thing he did not do. Yes."
Speaking to Lylia, Faerinn says, "Because they were moved."
Lylia says, "Had this been handled in a Faendryl manner, there would not have been time to move them. Or rather, they would move with the winds, being naught but ash."
Lylia says, "Remarkable that you have spent so much time around us and know us so little."
Speaking to Lylia, Faerinn says, "That is coming to an end."
Lylia insincerely says, "Pity."
Speaking to Lylia, Faerinn says, "This half Round-Ear is ceasing all future contracts with the Enclave."
Lylia indifferently says, "I am bereft."
Speaking to Faerinn, Yardie asks, "Wait? What? Why?"
Speaking to Yardie, Faerinn says, "Because I've learned what I truly am to them. Half-Human."
Lylia says, "You have learned that you and I do not agree, and therefore you are full to brimming over with spite. I am sorry for that."
Lylia says, "But I am doing what I must, as I always do, to defend a human."
Speaking to Faerinn, Yardie says, "I don't agree. To them? I.....I don't see it that way."
Lylia says, "Because he asked, and because he is in the right."
Speaking to Lylia, Faerinn says, "I tore your argument such a gaping hole that your client went berserk."
Lylia says, "You went down there and frothed at the mouth a bit, and I hoped you felt better after doing so."
Lylia says, "I still do hope so. Good luck to you."
Speaking to Lylia, Faerinn says, "I learned who my actual friends are."
Faerinn says, "Worth every silver."
Speaking to Faerinn, Lylia murmurs, "Can we have personal drama later, please? I am rather busy at the moment with more pressing matters."
Thadston says, "I'll answer one question, for every one question you answer for me."
Thadston says, "I'll even go first."
Umbazi says, "No."
Thadston asks, "No Gryphon?"
Umbazi says, "This is your hearing, not mine."
Thadston says, "Yet."
Thadston says, "Until you're the next pawn to stand in the way of the Brotherhood."
Thadston says, "Find me a man woman or child who has not changed."
Thadston says, "Go. Hurry."
Thadston says, "Because yes, I have changed."
Thadston says, "I am tired."
Umbazi says, "So am I. I'm very tired of your failure to answer."
Thadston says, "Tired of complacency. Tired of allowing enemies to take root and then watch people die when they spread."
Umbazi says, "Then step down."
Thadston says, "No."
Speaking to Guarrin, Leafiara says, "It's as you said... doing the right thing is rarely easy."
Umbazi says, "If you don't like the job and do not have confidence in your co-workers, resign."
Thadston says, "Because, dare I say it, I may be one of the last great bastions of action and defense this town has right now."
Leafiara agrees, "It is wearying, that much is understandable."
Thadston says, "I never said my Captains were unfit. They claimed it of me."
Thadston says, "I never said I disliked my duty."
Thadston says, "The Mayor has declared she disliked me in it."
Guarrin says, "It's not. I empathize with his situation."
Thadston says, "So better yet, Gryphon."
Umbazi says, "You did say that you had no captains."
Thadston says, "Come back and lecture me when you've felt the cold metal of golden spurs of knighthood."
Thadston says, "Until then..."
Thadston waves his hand in a dismissive gesture.
Umbazi says, "You seem to have progressed from lack of answers to perjury."
Thadston says, "The jurisdiction and actions of the Gryphons should be on trial here just as much as me."
Thadston says, "So when you want to answer questions, I will too."
Leafiara says, "What the Gryphons do privately with privately-raised resources is not a concern, but the marshal's resources come from the town he serves."
Evia says, "Our jurisdiction ends where honor, justice, integrity, and all manner of such prevails in full."
Speaking to Thadston, Uskeye says, "I would think that as a prominent official in this town, you would realize that you are subject to more scrutiny than most. Would it not be in your best interest to allow this ailment to be investigated, to reassure the people you're sworn to protect, if not for any other reason? Especially when so many claim your behaviours have changed since you took on this azure.... Thing."
Thadston asks, "Perhaps because I find myself in moments of darkness, where I recall nothing? Or where I confuse the world around me for memories of the past?"
Thadston asks, "Perhaps you are alarmed by the fact I sometimes call myself a different name?"
Thadston says, "That is not me I described."
Thadston says, "That is Captain Shinann."
Shinann sighs.
Shinann offers Stormyrain an etched militia badge.
Stormyrain looks over at Shinann and shakes her head.
Speaking to Shinann, Stormyrain says, "I'm not the Marshal. I cannot accept that."
Stormyrain declines Shinann's offer.
Thadston asks, "Do you instead, worry because I profess to be a master of blood magic?"
Thadston asks, "A powerful, dangerous force that has not served this town well?"
Thadston says, "Or that I seek answers in water, or cards, or clouds, who the hell knows these days."
Thadston says, "That is not me I described."
Thadston says, "That is Captain Stormyrain."
Thadston says, "These are facts."
Thadston asks, "You are interested in those still, yes?"
Stormyrain yells, "And I am open about it, answer questions, and do not hide it. Can you say the same?"
Thadston says, "Do you fear me, because I openly support the Rooks? Because I murdered their King to become their new ruler?"
Thadston says, "That is not me I described."
Thadston says, "That is Mayor Leafiara."
Thadston asks, "What of disobeying the commands of my subordinate? What of forgetting my oath of duty and taking arms against those I've been commanded to stand down from?"
Thadston says, "That is not me I described."
Thadston says, "That is the Silver Gryphons during the Talador War."
Uskeye glances at Thadston.
Uskeye shakes his head.
Uskeye just climbed up a narrow stairway.
Thadston says, "Perhaps you are concerned...."
Thadston says, "That's right."'
Thadston says, "Take the steps up the stair double at a time. Like your standards."
Evia yells, "Except, we did NOT forget at all, we chose the right of it!"
Goldstr yells, "Our Oath be first to da Landin Sir Andrews nae da Empire!"
Casiphia says, "Stormyrain has endured quite a lot. She still would die for you, fight for you."
Casiphia says, "We all would."
Casiphia says, "Shinann, the Mayor, Lylia, Ysharra, maybe even Faerinn still."
Casiphia asks, "Which one bothers you the most?"
Thin motes of azure light begin to circle around Thadston's hands.
Casiphia says, "Stay put, whore."

Log

Storm Before the Storm

[Town Square Central]

This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer's Landing. The impromptu shops of the bazaar are clustered around this central gathering place, where townsfolk, travellers, and adventurers meet to talk, conspire or raise expeditions to the far-flung reaches of Elanith. At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep. You also see a brilliant purple kitten wearing a purple collar clasped with a pair of crossed silver swords, the Savageheart disk, the Gherraltis disk, a green-eyed grey and white kitten, a flea-ridden roof rat, a fluffy wharf rat, a calico slender rat, an oily sewer rat, a flea-ridden sewer rat, a streaked black rat, a short-tailed black rat, a burly river rat, a short-tailed ship rat, a dirty black rat, a dusky sewer rat, a greasy sewer rat, a grizzled brown rat, the palm frond-shaped Leafiara disk, an oily wharf rat, a tiny brown rat, a wiry roof rat, a bristly sewer rat, an emaciated wharf rat, a buck-toothed river rat, a buck-toothed brown rat, a patchy brown rat, a patchy ship rat, a large acorn, the Yardie disk, a rose-marrow potion, a rose-marrow potion, a large acorn, a large acorn, some stone benches with some stuff on it and an herbal remedy donation bin.

Also here: Lord Yavs, Great Lord Draphik, Savageheart, Gherraltis, Vaemyr, Sewer Scamp Ushakaron, Thunraz, Conquerer of Reim Razanetika, Jessamana, Mayor Leafiara, Felita, Kondus, Phokus who is sitting, Lady Guennwhfar, Zinetsu, Bernadette, Yardie who is sitting, Lady in Waiting Chandrellia, Vib, Maerit, Pukk, Xyresic who is sitting

The sky begins to fill with huge clouds, dark and grey on the bottom, pale and white atop, their puffy crowns ascending toward the heavens.

Speaking to Chandrellia, Guennwhfar says, "I got yer Paca right here."

Speaking softly to Yardie, Razanetika says, "The previous mayor."

The voice of Gutstorm drunkenly asks, "War we goin?"

Speaking to Razanetika, Yardie says, "Hmm, sounds like a crush."

Vaemyr says, "And there's the rain."

Vaemyr says, "And the thunder."

Speaking to Razanetika, Yardie says, "The naming, I mean."

The voice of Gutstorm drunkenly exclaims, "THUNDA!"

Leafiara calmly agrees, "Indeed."

Pukk recites:

"Everybody join Leafiara!"

Guennwhfar says, "Ye're waitingto go to the Ebon Gate."

Razanetika recites softly:

"Everyone form on Leafiara"

Yardie says, "I just want to verify something."

Speaking softly to Pukk, Razanetika says, "You slackin'."

Yardie asks, "This is a hearing. With words and ears, right?"

Speaking amusedly to Pukk, Leafiara says, "You'll actually have to get someone else once we're inside, since I'll have to be down in the chamber speaking on the topic." [OOC note: or so I thought; there was some misunderstanding, as I thought it would be similar to Pylasar's trial with Leafi and the Faendryl Enclave down on the floor at all times playing the respective roles of Cordarius and Vlashandra]

Guennwhfar asks, "Now what?"

Vaemyr says, "Now the task of finding how to get to the overlook of the courtroom."

Yardie says, "I know it's typical that politics ends with hair pulling and wanton punches, and if that's the case, I'd like to prepare with lots of libations."

Guennwhfar exclaims, "I already have a girlfriend!"

Razanetika softly asks, "Guts, send the rats home please?"

Speaking to Chandrellia, Pukk says, "You're it."

Vaemyr says, "Yeah I think Leafi is basically the prosecutor here tonight, the rest of us gotta be in the galley unless called upon."

Leafiara says, "You'll likely have the opportunity to sign up and speak if you wish."

Leafiara says, "Essentially, anyone who has a testimony to give will be able to speak on it."

Leafiara says, "It seems Sir Cryheart's already made his move for the observation chamber."

Leafiara says, "I suppose now's as good a time as any."

Pukk exclaims, "Follow that imp!"

Pukk asks, "Dear god, is Gutstorm following us too?" [because of all the rats following]

The voice of Gutstorm drunkenly asks, "Too many rats?"

[Moot Hall, Observation Balcony]

Several rows of hardwood benches line the balcony, each row a bit higher than the previous one in order to provide a view of the proceedings below from every seat. A polished oak railing forms the front barrier of the viewing area, and a narrow stairway leads down. You also see the Guarrin disk.

Guennwhfar says, "They follow, we lead."

A flea-ridden sewer rat scurries off.

Yardie says, "And the rats followed us. This truly is a political meeting."

A wiry roof rat scurries off.

A tiny brown rat scurries off.

An oily wharf rat scurries off.

Speaking to Leafiara, Kippe asks, "Friends of yours?"

Cryheart waves to you.

Speaking to Kippe, Leafiara explains, "Gutstorm's buddies."

Faerinn says, "Oh for passion's sake the rats..."

Guennwhfar asks, "What is politics without rats?"

Pukk says, "Wait...the rats might know a bit about the trial. You know what they say, a rat makes a great politician."

Cryheart says, "A warm meal."

Vaemyr says, "Rats are gone for now at least."

Speaking to Guennwhfar, Yardie says, "I thought the rats WERE politicians."

[General] Leafiara thinks, "Good evening, Landing. I hope everyone is prepared for Thadston's hearing tonight. We're gathering now in the observation balcony."

[General] Lylia thinks, "I have been looking forward to it."

Cryheart says, "I imagine he has to deal with a lot of fleas."

Speaking to Yardie, Guennwhfar says, "Aye it is hard to tell the difference; rats smell better."

Pukk asks, "Okay, will you be the defense or prosecutor?"

Pukk asks, "Where did that rat go?"

Yardie asks, "Out of curiosity, do I need to put out my cigar?"

Speaking to Pukk, Faerinn says, "I believe Thadston wanted the Enclave to defend him."

Taulramil says, "Hmm."

Speaking softly to Goblyn, Chandrellia says, "Hello pretty one."

Taulramil says, "This guy again."

Speaking shyly to Chandrellia, Goblyn says, "You do have this wrong... description."

Speaking to Faerinn, Pukk says, "Must be working for the judge then."

Speaking softly to Goblyn, Chandrellia says, "You are pretty in your own way."

Yardie asks, "Which guy again?"

Lylia simply says, "Yes. We have offered this to a member of the Town Council."

Speaking drunkenly to Lylia, Gutstorm says, "Me wanna chrissen me boat Da Lylia."

Speaking to Yardie, Taulramil says, "The one who came in through the gates the other night walked up said something like i'll destroy you."

Taulramil says, "And left."

Leafiara remarks, "Should be an interesting and potentially precedent-setting night."

Speaking to Pukk, Faerinn says, "I mean yes, that's true, but also I remember things said more than a day ago."

Speaking slowly to Sareyna, Goblyn asks, "Sareyna?"

Speaking to Faerinn, Pukk asks, "You do? Man, that is a nice skill to have....what's your name again?"

Speaking drunkenly to Goblyn, Gutstorm says, "Me got 22 ratsh now."

Sareyna asks, "Gob?"

A town clerk's voice shouts in the distance, "Thadston's hearing will begin shortly. Please proceed to the Observation Balcony within Moot Hall."

Vaemyr says, "Well any night in the Landing is usually pretty interesting."

Pukk yells, "About time!"

Speaking to Sareyna, Goblyn says, "You are... alive."

Speaking to Pukk, Faerinn says, "Name's Corduroy."

Sareyna says, "Sometimes."

Guennwhfar exclaims, "It's alive!"

Speaking to Goblyn, Pukk exclaims, "I said the same thing!"

Goblyn disappointedly asks, "It will be better if you were animated or not of the living, yes, while you are here?"

Speaking to Faerinn, Pukk asks, "Cornyroll?"

Taulramil says, "Thadston."

Sareyna says, "Killing me softly with your love Goblyn."

Speaking to Pukk, Faerinn says, "Exactly."

Leafiara says, "Good to see so much interest tonight."

Speaking to Faerinn, Pukk exclaims, "Okay Corny. I'm Cryheart!"

Speaking to Faerinn, Pukk says, "Nice to meet you."

Speaking drunkenly to Leafiara, Gutstorm asks, "Do we git to keel Fadshtin tonite?"

Lylia says, "There should be interest. It is not every day that the mayor and a Town Council member openly go to war."

Speaking to Pukk, Faerinn says, "Nice to meet you too Cryhurt."

Speaking to Gutstorm, Leafiara clarifies, "No, and this is not a criminal trial either."

Pukk says, "Just call me Sir Molasses."

Yardie asks, "War?"

Speaking drunkenly to Leafiara, Gutstorm asks, "Den why weez here?"

Speaking to Pukk, Guennwhfar asks, "Slow, are you?"

Speaking to Gutstorm, Pukk says, "Because Thadston needs to have a fair trial before we find him guilty and hang him."

Speaking patiently to Gutstorm, Leafiara says, "I'm pretty sure I said this earlier, but we're taking testimony about whether Thadston is fit to remain as marshal or not."

Speaking to Pukk, Goblyn says, "Pukk, Mayor Leafiara did make an acting like she is you in some days past."

Leafiara emphasizes, "And this isn't a trial."

Speaking to Goblyn, Pukk asks, "Did she do me good?"

Speaking to Pukk, Goblyn whispers aloud, "She did make a ... joke of joining Cryheart."

Lylia says, "War might be a bit of a dramatic rendition of it. I should say that it is not every day that a mayor declares a Town Council member in need of a hearing to justify his presence on the Town Council."

Pukk says, "Wait..that sounded wrong."

Speaking helpfully to Pukk, Leafiara says, "There's only one you."

Speaking to Leafiara, Goblyn says, "I did like it, it was funny."

Guennwhfar says, "Oh yes a fair trial before the execution! It's traditional."

Yardie says, "I think I understand no."

Speaking to Guennwhfar, Pukk says, "It's just fair that way."

Vaemyr says, "We're basically giving testimony either for or against removing Thadston from being the current Marshal."

Pukk says, "Mainly against."

Speaking drunkenly to Goblyn, Gutstorm says, "Gimme."

Yardie says, "The thunder. Quite ominous. It seems that someone is a walking cloud."

Pukk says, "You know how all the merchants seem to give less money to all those that aren't human? That's Thadston's fault."

Guennwhfar says, "Dhe'nar motto; kill them all, and let the Arkati sort them out."

Pukk says, "It's true."

Speaking to Guennwhfar, Yardie says, "Not everyone gets killed though. Whether that's good or bad is another story."

Speaking to Pukk, Vaemyr says, "Merchants like me just fine thank you."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Pukk says, "I heard differently."

Pukk says, "Have you ever dropped a item and then left the area and when you went back it was gone? That is Thadston's fault too."

Renpaw's Once in a Lifetime Instructions

A town clerk arrives and clears her throat, "Ahem, all rise for the Honorable Judge Renpaw!"

Pukk says, "True story."

From behind a curtain, Renpaw says, "...they are standing already...above us..."

Speaking in Faendryl, Lylia says something you don't understand.

Guennwhfar asks, "The honrable who?"

Renpaw arrives.

Gutstorm drunkenly says, "If me git me shtatchoo back, me gunna mount it to da front o'me ship."

Cryheart says, "Hello your honor."

Guennwhfar says, "There is no such thing as an honrable judge."

Speaking deeply to Renpaw, Roelon says, "Evenin'."

Speaking formally to Renpaw, Leafiara says, "Good evening to our good Judge."

Speaking in Faendryl to Gutstorm, Lylia says something you don't understand.

Speaking to Gutstorm, Lylia says, "Bleakstone would take you to the bottom of the bay."

Lord Thadston's group just came through a modwir arch.

Lord Thadston's group just climbed up a narrow stairway.

Guennwhfar says, "They are all on the pad."

Cryheart says, "Evening."

Thadston nods at Chaoswynd.

Speaking drunkenly to Thadston, Gutstorm exclaims, "Guilty!"

Speaking to Leafiara, Pukk says, "Told you."

Renpaw exclaims, "Good evening all!"

Ushakaron deeply says, "Good evening."

Renpaw exclaims, "One and all!"

Renpaw says, "Lord Thadston, please proceed to the...."

Renpaw points down.

Speaking to Renpaw, Goldstr says, "Evenin Ye Honor."

Speaking to Thadston, Guennwhfar says, "For a small fee I will vote that you are innocent."

Thadston nods.

Speaking to Thadston, Umbazi says, "I believe he wants you to go downstairs."

Lylia whispers something to Thadston.

Speaking quietly to Renpaw, Taulramil asks, "Good sir, mind if I record these proccedings?"

Thadston nods at Lylia.

Thadston grins.

Speaking to Guennwhfar, Pukk asks, "Do you know Evician?"

Speaking to Renpaw, Goldstr says, "Evenin Sir Andrews."

Lord Thadston just climbed down a narrow stairway.

Goldstr says, "Evenin Sir Andrews."

Faerinn says, "Silence is very unusual for him."

A flicker of azure light dances across Thadston's neck.

Renpaw says, "I will head down to the chamber of justice below in a moment."

Speaking to Cryheart, Pukk whispers aloud, "So level with me. When did you all join the Rooks?"

Renpaw says, "Here is how tonight's hearing will proceed."

Cryheart says, "That is news to me."

Guennwhfar says, "For a somewhat larger fee, I will slip you a hacksaw and some lockpicks."

Renpaw asks, "Mayor Leafiara, will you please take a moment to recount the concern you have lodged against the Marshal?"

Goblyn offers Renpaw a handful of blood-soaked popcorn.

Leafiara says, "Numerous, but two primarily."

Renpaw declines Goblyn's offer.

Pukk says, "He's ugly....."

Renpaw frowns at Goblyn.

Leafiara says, "The first is unauthorized use of militia resouces outside of our jurisdiction to enact his Operation Stonewall outside of our gates."

Goblyn scowls at Renpaw.

Renpaw asks, "Blood soaked?"

Renpaw gags.

Speaking patiently to Renpaw, Goblyn explains, "For better flavor, yes?"

Thrassus says, "It adds an interesting kick to the popcorn."

Leafiara says, "The second and more serious concern is a magical affliction surrounding Thadston which he refuses to explain and appears to be making him prone to erratic behavior."

Speaking to Goblyn, Faerinn asks, "Locally sourced?"

Goblyn whispers something to Renpaw.

Renpaw frowns at Goblyn.

Guennwhfar exclaims, "Oh no! Not militia resources! Why, the loss of graft alone is criminal!"

Renpaw says, "Lawlessness is my enemy Goblyn."

Renpaw snickers at Goblyn.

Goblyn hums a seemingly random tune.

Renpaw nods at Leafiara.

Speaking to Goblyn, Faerinn says, "I would expect no less."

Speaking carefully to Renpaw, Goblyn notes, "Then maybe it is the blood of lawlessness!"

Speaking drunkenly to Goblyn, Gutstorm says, "Me eatsh."

Speaking to Thrassus, Lylia murmurs, "Yes, he has always been a tireless foe of the Rooks."

Zolis deeply says, "Rook blood."

Speaking to Renpaw, Pukk says, "She got you there."

Renpaw asks, "Who of the Faendryl Enclave are here tonight?"

A flicker of azure light dances across Thadston's neck.

Lylia raises her hand.

Speaking drunkenly to Goblyn, Gutstorm says, "Dankoo."

Lylia nods at Renpaw.

Xorus raises his hand.

Tolida raises her hand.

Guennwhfar says, "Faendryl? Who cares about those losers."

Taulramil turns an inquisitive ear toward Leafiara.

Pukk says, "Thadston said he wanted me to be his defense and I say that since he is guilty he should throw himself on the mercy of the court for a quick hanging."

Speaking curiously to Taulramil, Leafiara asks, "Yes?"

Taulramil makes a writing motion at the sheet of papyrus.

Guennwhfar says, "I speak for the Obsidian Tower."

Speaking to Taulramil, Leafiara says, "It's an open hearing. Anyone may observe and record the testimony given."

Taulramil twirls his crow feather quill between his thumb and forefinger.

Speaking to Guennwhfar, Yardie says, "You'd not want to make that comment."

Gutstorm drunkenly says, "Erfkwakesh."

Guennwhfar says, "I made it."

Speaking to Guennwhfar, Yardie says, "It's unwarranted."

Lylia replies, "Many of us are here to address these specious concerns about Thadston's fitness to serve, particularly in light of other Town Council members and their own, ah...colorful histories."

Chandrellia softly whispers aloud, "Stop it."

Lylia removes a slim ki-lin horn stylus bound in silver from her belt.

Speaking to Lylia, Pukk says, "You should reword that for those of us here that are colorblind."

Renpaw says, "The signup list is now open for any and all to add their name as a speaker. When you are called, I would ask that you go down below, and make your statement, or ask your questions. There is not much formalty to this, but do be respectful as best you can. Thadston can choose to answer the question, or his representatives may offer to answer for him, or make a counter statement in his defense. Likewise, for any statement made in favor of Thadston, the Mayor or any she wishes has an opportunity to go down below to offer a counter statement as well."

Renpaw says, "I will be perfectly honest, we have not had a hearing such as this in my lifetime."

Renpaw says, "So, patience. But justice will prevail."

Leafiara says, "Precedent-setting indeed, then."

Lylia says, "I feel confident it shall."

Renpaw says, "Please, sign up."

Renpaw points to the list.

Lord Renpaw just climbed down a narrow stairway.

Guennwhfar says, "In my experience, Justice is negotiable."

Gutstorm drunkenly says, "Me no like da way Fadshtin grabbed Shtormierainsh arm, he to grabby. Dat now how you hannul a lady unlesh itsh in private."

You get the distinct feeling if you PEER AREA you can observe the events below.

Speaking to Stormyrain, Leafiara offers, "Captains, would you be willing to join in this or only act as individual speakers?"

[OOC note: Half-reiterating this for those who tend to skip straight to when things start getting bolded, but I was kind of thrown off by the format and others seemingly were too. During Pylasar's trial, Cordarius and Vlashandra were on the trial floor at all times acting as defense and prosecution, but weren't signing up for the list themselves; they were reacting to what others mentioned. I thought it would be like that again, so Leafi's question here was attempting to call Stormy and Shinann down for a sort of Mayor-and-Captains vs. Faendryl Enclave dynamic. However, that wasn't the format, so bear with a lot of initial confusion. Some people were expecting Leafi herself to join the list and meanwhile I was thinking she wasn't allowed to join the list for the same reasons that lawyers ordinarily can't serve as advocates and witnesses in the same trial. In essence, I thought that Judge Renpaw asking for her recounting of her concerns served as her "opening statements," as it were]

Speaking to Leafiara, Stormyrain asks, "Join in what way?"

Thadston nods at Renpaw.

Thadston says, "Renpaw."

Ushakaron deeply says, "Well if no one is signing up on the list he must be innocent."

Renpaw asks, "Thaddy Daddy, is it these days?"

Renpaw chuckles.

A flicker of azure light dances across Thadston's neck.

Speaking to Stormyrain, Leafiara says, "As the Judge just said, I may have others offer counter statements alongside me."

Roelon deeply says, "Would nae be right to speak mah mind. Ah dinnae know this man from before. Ah cannae rightly judge the man now."

Stormyrain says, "I will speak if asked to."

Speaking to Ushakaron, Guennwhfar says, "Clearly."

Pukk says, "Thaddy Daddy has a nice ring to it."

Vaemyr says, "Well I've witnessed Thadston's actions and remember him from years ago, so I guess I'll sign my name to make a statement."

Leafiara appreciatively says, "Thank you."

A town clerk stares at the empty list.

Lylia asks, "My friend, when has not knowing ever stopped a Wehnimerian from speaking his or her mind?"

Chandrellia adds her name to the signup list.

Uskeye says, "It's bloody noisy in here for a civil proceeding."

Pukk recites:

"Sign the list to ask questions or statements"

Leafiara requests, "Please, join the list to speak if you have testimony to give."

Thadston asks, "Well, has it begun?"

Thadston peers quizzically at Renpaw.

Vaemyr adds his name to the signup list.

Zolis deeply says, "Gut him, clean him like a fish."

Speaking deeply to Lylia, Roelon says, "True, ah cannar argue that."

Renpaw says, "We will give them a moment."

Vaemyr says, "Ahh there we go."

Vaemyr says, "Yes joining the list will sign your name."

Taulramil adds his name to the signup list.

Faerinn adds his name to the signup list.

Lylia suggests, "Perhaps others are awaiting their opportunity to speak after the mayor has made her case. After all, she is the one who is putting forth these charges and agitating for the removal of a Town Council member."

Speaking to Leafiara, Pukk says, "You should join the list."

First Speaker, Chandrellia: "A good man but not a good leader"

[OOC note: from here until the hearing is over, anything in bold (other than joining the signup list) happens down on the chamber floor while anything not in bold happens in the observation balcony]

Renpaw yells, "Chandrellia!"

Guennwhfar says, "I should like to testify to the superiority of the Dhe'nar but I suspect this is already well known."

Lady in Waiting Chandrellia just climbed down a narrow stairway.

Leafiara says, "I stated my case earlier as the Judge requested."

Chandrellia nods at Renpaw.

Pukk says, "Oooh. Poor Chandrellia. I hope she doesn't get hanged."

Renpaw bows to Chandrellia.

Chandrellia softly says, "Greetings."

Chandrellia curtsies.

Thadston twists his head slightly, cracking his neck. He looks relieved.

Gutstorm drunkenly says, "I do."

Evia says, "One would think statements given for and against the topic would be helpful."

Chandrellia nods to Thadston in greeting.

Renpaw says, "You have the floor, but just for a moment. Please proceed."

Chandrellia nods.

Lylia says, "Ah, in that case, I shall address both your points."

A flicker of azure light dances across Thadston's neck.

Lylia adds her name to the signup list.

Speaking to Evia, Taulramil asks, "The charges against Lord Thadston?"

Chandrellia softly asks, "Do you recall me?"

Chandrellia peers quizzically at Thadston.

Speaking drunkenly to Lylia, Gutstorm says, "Try get da shtatchoo back while yooz at it, me need it fer me boat."

Speaking to Evia, Guennwhfar says, "Pertinent statements in a legal trial? How naive."

Chandrellia softly says, "We were in the Mayor's office the first night you demanded the Blood Son be taken in."

Thadston seems to be waiting for something.

Lylia says, "To make sure we are all clear, you have charged him with unauthorized use of militia resources beyond the gates for 'Operation Stonewall' and with having a magical affliction that may interfere with his service on the Town Council."

Lylia asks, "Is this correct?"

Lylia removes a piece of cream parchment from in her wrap.

(Lylia takes a few notes.)

Leafiara nods at Lylia.

Speaking softly to Thadston, Chandrellia asks, "Perhaps your memory isn't as good now as it was then?"

Chandrellia peers quizzically at Thadston.

Lylia murmurs, "Fabulous."

Thadston says, "I'm not on trial for my memory."

Pukk says, "She going for the hard questions."

Guennwhfar says, "Sounds good to me."

Chandrellia softly says, "Well it's nice to see you can at least acknowledge someone."

Archales asks, "Are you sure it's magical?"

Gutstorm drunkenly says, "And for manhandlin Storymrain, he not ashk to do dat, he jush do it."

Archales says, "I always remembered him as being rather ill tempered."

Leafiara relents, "At this rate, further elaboration might be needed if only since so few wish to speak."

Leafiara adds her name to the signup list.

Evia says, "If I was on trial for my memory I'd be hung for sure."

Lylia says, "I shall make certain I leave you time to speak."

Speaking to Evia, Ysharra says, "You and me both, my friend."

Speaking drunkenly to Evia, Gutstorm asks, "Memmber dat time me loaned yooz 20 millin shilbersh?"

Chandrellia softly says, "The letter you wrote, for the warrant, for his arrest, was a bit harsh, and your words to us saying we were in league with him just as bad."

Lylia whispers something to Xorus.

Thadston says, "I'm also not on trial for my words."

Thadston says, "If words were a crime, more than half this town would be dead or in jail."

Goldstr asks, "Now he on trial fer writin a letter?"

Uskeye says, "Well.. this seems to be going nowhere."

Leafiara reiterates, "Despite how he wants to frame it, this is not a trial. It's a hearing over whether he's fit to serve as marshal."

Speaking to Goldstr, Lylia quips, "Well, his words were harsh. Shame, shame on him for using harsh language for a murderous zealot escaped from prison and in league with a blood god."

Chandrellia softly says, "Sigh."

Goblyn whispers something to Uskeye.

Taulramil asks, "He marshals the towns' militia correct?"

Roelon deeply asks, "Abuse of power in his position as it were. Aye?"

Thadston says, "I feel like perhaps you should have made this a letter. This seems drawn out, Lady...in...Waiting...is right."

Speaking to Taulramil, Stormyrain says, "He does, in Thrayzar's absence."

Ysharra says, "He's often harsh, most of the people in this room play around with being tough."

Speaking to Roelon, Leafiara says, "That is the question under consideration and part of what we're determining tonight."

Taulramil says, "Unless the town was in iminent danger of attack he should leave the negotiations to the mayor."

Renpaw glances at Thadston.

Ysharra says, "He just succeeds."

Renpaw says, "Respectful means everyone, Thadston."

Speaking to Ysharra, Lylia says, "I find it part of his appeal."

Gutstorm drunkenly says, "He being a jerk to Chandrellia, me take fensh to dat."

Speaking softly to Renpaw, Chandrellia says, "Tis ok."

Umbazi says, "He doesn't respect anyone."

Renpaw says, "But, to his point, please get to your statement."

Renpaw nods at Chandrellia.

Yardie says, "This may get violent after all."

Umbazi says, "Maybe he did once, before the Bleaklands, but not now."

Chandrellia softly says, "I'm used to this kind of behavior from him as I have seen in the past actions from him, which is why I agree that he should be removed. He is a good man but not a good leader."

Lylia says, "I think it is rather that he respects facts and order, not individuals. I can see that."

Chandrellia nods at Renpaw.

Chandrellia nods at Thadston.

Renpaw nods at Chandrellia.

Chandrellia softly says, "His actions outside the Hall the night of the Brawl was a bad one." (I assume referring to the brawl between militia and town guards)

Renpaw says, "Thank you, and noted."

Chandrellia nods at Renpaw.

Lady in Waiting Chandrellia just climbed up a narrow stairway.

Second Speaker, Vaemyr: "I see nothing of that man in this person"

Renpaw yells, "Vaemyr!"

Vaemyr just climbed down a narrow stairway.

Speaking drunkenly to Chandrellia, Gutstorm says, "Next time kick him in da unmenshinabullsh."

Umbazi says, "I don't think that declaring war on sick people was a good sign. And I would like to know what that blue thing is that keeps glowing."

Vaemyr bows to Thadston.

Vaemyr says, "Your honor."

Thadston asks, "Do I get a chance to respond to Chandrellia? Or request so by my representation?"

Thadston peers quizzically at Renpaw.

Speaking to Umbazi, Leafiara comments, "Perhaps you should sign up and give such testimony."

Ysharra says, "Now that is a question I would like answered, too."

Speaking to Umbazi, Lylia says, "Then it is good that he expressly waited until the sick and infirm were removed to the Ivasian Temple."

Renpaw asks, "Why yes, of course. Do you wish to respond to Chandrellia?"

Chandrellia softly whispers aloud, "I kept tripping over my wods when I looked at him."

Thadston says, "No."

Thadston smirks.

Renpaw bows to Vaemyr.

Renpaw nods at Vaemyr.

Vaemyr nods.

Vaemyr says, "I knew Thadston years ago."

Chandrellia whispers something to Goblyn.

Vaemyr says, "I was just a common adventurerer he probably never noticed me."

Speaking deeply to Melikor, Zolis says, "They don't even charge admission here."

Speaking to Zolis, Galenblackbard says, "That will be 5 silver."

Speaking to Zolis, Melikor says, "Can't beat that."

Speaking in Faendryl, Lylia says something you don't understand.

Guennwhfar says, "I have no knowledge of any of this, but I would be happy to testify if needed."

Vaemyr says, "But he was a good man, he would work with us, truly believed in defending this city, defending the people."

Speaking deeply to Galenblackbard, Zolis asks, "Where's your usher's lamp?"

Guennwhfar exclaims, "He did it! I heard everything!"

Galenblackbard says, "Oh right."

Vaemyr says, "In the recent events, I see nothing of that man in this person."

Goblyn whispers something to Chandrellia.

Speaking to Zolis, Galenblackbard asks, "My dog ate it?"

Speaking in Faendryl, Uskeye says something you don't understand.

Vaemyr says, "He risks the lives of troops for fruitless measures, even going beyond his normal authority."

Lylia says, "Understandable."

Speaking in Faendryl to Melikor, Ysharra says something you don't understand.

Speaking to Ysharra, Melikor says, "There really were a lot."

Speaking in Faendryl to Lylia, Tolida says something you don't understand.

A flicker of azure light dances across Thadston's neck.

Speaking in Faendryl to Melikor, Ysharra says something you don't understand.

Speaking in Faendryl, Uskeye says something you don't understand.

Umbazi says, "And there's the blue glow again."

Vaemyr says, "And he refuses any examination of the azure list that continues to dance across his neck..."

Vaemyr glances at Thadston.

Archales says, "I think we can skip to the not fit part now."

Thadston says, "Let me examine the green-black flames along your hands first." [...you know, none of us actually caught this (or at least didn't mention it aloud), but how does a blind man know they're green-black?]

Thadston says, "Let's see who flinches."

Vaemyr says, "Why thank you for bringing that up."

Speaking to Goblyn, Melikor says, "Why thank you."

Speaking to Archales, Galenblackbard asks, "Who ya calling fat?"

Vaemyr says, "These are the results of an illusion."

Umbazi yells, "Yes, it's not like Balefire is a known spell."

Speaking to Galenblackbard, Archales says, "I over packed."

Vaemyr says, "And I do wonder if yours is also not the result of the same."

Guennwhfar says, "Unfit not unfat."

Gutstorm drunkenly says, "It dokay to be fat."

Thadston twists his head slightly, cracking his neck. He looks relieved.

Yardie says, "Ugh, that feeling as if someone's watching. Unsettling."

Renpaw says, "Thank you Vaemyr."

Vaemyr says, "And for these reasons I support the removal of Thadston from his current position of authority."

Vaemyr bows to Renpaw.

Speaking to Yardie, Thrassus says, "You get used to it."

Speaking to Goblyn, Tolida asks, "Have any more popcorn?"

Thadston Requests Faendryl Enclave Rebuttal to Vaemyr: "To say that the Town Marshal cannot act beyond the gates of town is to say he is merely a constable in a different uniform"

Thadston says, "In response to Vaemyr's accusation that I risked the lives of troops for fruitless measures, and went beyond my authority, I would like to call my representatives to come down and counter."

Lylia inclines her head.

Speaking amusedly to Tolida, Goblyn exclaims, "This is a... funny question, Tolida!"

Vaemyr says, "Oh this should be good."

Imperatrix Lylia's group just climbed down a narrow stairway.

Renpaw nods at Thadston.

Lylia nods once.

Speaking to Goblyn, Tolida exclaims, "Oh.. thank you!"

Chandrellia softly asks, "What?"

Thadston nods at Lylia.

Thadston nods at Xorus.

Speaking to Yukito, Guarrin says, "I'm not certain. I hadn't made that connection."

Speaking to Leafiara, Uskeye says, "Madame Mayor, has Thadston been asked if he would submit to an examination by expert magic users to determine the severity of his affliction? I apologize if this is already common knowledge to most. I've been a bit out of touch."

The voice of Gutstorm drunkenly says, "Dey make a cute couple."

Speaking to Uskeye, Leafiara says, "Many times, and he declines."

Speaking in Faendryl, Thadston says something you don't understand.

Thadston nods.

Lylia smiles at Thadston.

Lylia replies, "Good evening to you as well."

Pukk says, "Man that thunder is really something."

(Lylia turns to address the balcony.)

Xorus nods.

Lylia says, "The authority of the militia to act beyond the gates of town is hardly in dispute at all. While I fought tirelessly to expand the reach of the town's political power beyond its gates, we have already seen the actions of the militia beyond it."

Ysharra says, "Sometimes Faendryl does get a little rumbling. You should hear us curse."

Lylia says, "Towers and traps. Witch hunts. Fights taken to the hills and not on our city streets."

Thadston nods.

Renpaw turns an inquisitive ear toward Lylia.

Lylia says, "This is what a militia is, what differentiates it from the city's constabulary. To say that the Town Marshal cannot act beyond the gates of town is to say he is merely a constable in a different uniform."

Speaking to Ysharra, Faerinn says, "Honestly I assume it's cursing ninety percent of the time I hear it."

Chandrellia softly says, "No matter how far our walls go that will be her defense, the militia's job is help protect the streets not start barwls."

Madmountan says, "Nothing like the screams of sentient popcorn to lighten the mood of the evening."

Speaking to Faerinn, Ysharra says, "It may be. We're poetic."

Lylia says, "We have also seen other Town Marshals act beyond the gates -- indeed, beyond horizons."

Lylia muses, "How far did Thrayzar travel? How far did Thadston himself go to pursue Raznel?"

Archales asks, "And how many of those militiamen came home alive?"

Speaking to Gutstorm, Yardie says, "Saw you the entire time."

Lylia says, "Yet these acts were cheered on by the populace because they were...well, popular."

Lylia smirks as a haughty expression flits across her face.

Faerinn says, "Going beyond the gates is not the issue."

Speaking to Archales, Leafiara says, "I believe the answer is none, save Thadston himself."

Umbazi says, "The problem isn't that he wanted the militia to act beyond the walls. That's the mayor's issue, not Thadston's. The issue is that he wanted to use the militia to attack sick people who had been promised protection."

Chamorr heartily says, "Ahhhh."

Speaking drunkenly to Chandrellia, Gutstorm says, "Yer kitty hidin in da shadowsh."

Faerinn says, "It's using the militia on a citizen."

Lylia concludes, "I hope this clarifies the matter of jurisdiction and actions beyond the gates of town."

Vaemyr asks, "It's a good argument, but Thadston knew what he was sending his militia into. He sent them to be slaughtered for what, to capture a puppet?"

Guarrin whispers something to Cryheart.

Umbazi says, "That's odd."

Renpaw says, "It clarifies your defense of such, yes."

Tolida looks over at Lylia and shakes her head.

Chamorr adds his name to the signup list.

Lylia smiles.

Xorus nods at Lylia.

Renpaw nods.

Speaking in Faendryl, Ysharra says something you don't understand.

Lylia says, "Excellent. I do not claim to have no stake here, of course; I was asked to provide defense and counsel in this not-a-trial."

Xorus says, "The town marshal has total authority over the militia, for setting its strategy and tactics, and delegating responsibilities as he sees fit. Thadston himself once noted as much when Thrayzar was Marshal, when negotiations were being made for providing us with pylons. Thrayzar once even made a special task force outside the militia hierarchy in the incident with the Ithzir."

Guennwhfar says, "Enough trial, lets get to the good part ... the execution."

Gutstorm drunkenly asks, "Can we all jush go down dere?"

Gutstorm drunkenly says, "Xorush name not on da lisht."

Xorus says, "This other notion that there is no 'jurisdiction' for our military outside of town is as bizarre as it is incoherent."

Cryheart whispers something to Guarrin.

Yardie says, "At least it's execution and not slavery talk."

Xorus says, "Thrayzar used wide ranging scouts in Glaoveln, Talador, the Lysierian Hills. He went on a special operation to Talador, and pursued Raznel nearly as far as Ubl."

Speaking to Yardie, Guennwhfar says, "Would make an uneliable slave."

Xorus says, "The log traps outside of town were a militia project of cutting down trees. We had pylons mounted on ships, the Frontier's Heart and the Raging Sea Thrak, for fighting the krolvin at sea."

Speaking to Guennwhfar, Yardie says, "Never stopped the Dhe'nar before."

Xorus says, "Frankly, I find no sound basis for the removal of Thadston as the Marshal at all."

Speaking heartily to Leafiara, Chamorr says, "Think somethin wrong wif Pukk."

Xorus nods at Renpaw.

Guennwhfar exclaims, "Hey! We prefer our slaves malleable and obedient!"

Speaking absently to himself, Archales asks, "Didn't someone lose a whole garrison during the Ithzir crisis? Who was that...?"

Speaking offhandedly to Chamorr, Leafiara says, "That's always the case."

Renpaw says, "Thank you."

Renpaw nods at Lylia.

Speaking heartily to Leafiara, Chamorr says, "He aint said a word."

Renpaw nods at Xorus.

Thadston grins.

Speaking to Thadston, Lylia murmurs, "We are as close as your voice and shall return to the balcony."

Renpaw nods at Tolida.

Speaking to Guennwhfar, Yardie says, "Malleable? Ob.."

Lylia nods once.

Thadston nods at Lylia.

Imperatrix Lylia's group just climbed up a narrow stairway.

Speaking to Chamorr, Pukk asks, "I'm listening. Weird, right?"

Thadston Requests Statements of Captains Stormyrain and Shinann: "You've allowed yourself and your judgement in turn to become compromised"

Thadston says, "Your Honor, I'd like to call two more to make a statement."

Renpaw says, "I, well, yes. But quickly please, so we may proceed with the list."

Speaking heartily to Pukk, Chamorr says, "I know, really."

Cryheart whispers something to Umbazi.

Thadston says, "Captains Stormyrain and Shinann."

Ysharra says, "He is being defended by Lylia in her role as an officer of the Enclave."

Leafiara remarks, "Bold."

Speaking to Yardie, Guennwhfar says, "Oh, I was using big words; my bad, sorry."

Ysharra says, "She invited those of us who bore witness to the events to speak with her."

Shinann just climbed down a narrow stairway.

Stormyrain just climbed down a narrow stairway.

Stormyrain folds her hands behind her back.

Thadston grins.

Thadston says, "Captains."

Shinann nods in greeting.

Speaking to Guennwhfar, Yardie says, "With all due respect, you've never used words bigger than fight and kill."

Stormyrain places a hand over her heart.

Stormyrain bows.

Thadston says, "It's only fair the Judge and the crowd hear your opinions on matters of militia authority and jurisidiction."

Lylia whispers something to Yardie.

Stormyrain settles her gaze on Thadston, watching him intently.

A flicker of azure light trails along one of Thadston's hands.

Stormyrain asks, "Is there a question there?"

Faerinn asks, "It moves to his hands?"

Faerinn asks, "What is he about to do?"

Speaking to Faerinn, Guarrin says, "That's new."

Thadston says, "I'd be interested in hearing how my tactics and Thrayzar's differ, and if you agree with either, or both, or none."

Leafiara quips, "Lose his case, potentially."

Vaemyr says, "It's all around him, I'm truly not sure that is Thadston at all."

Chandrellia softly says, "It's almost like a mirage."

Umbazi says, "Of course it's not."

Ushakaron deeply says, "My thoughts as well."

Speaking in Faendryl, Uskeye asks something you don't understand.

Shinann says, "I do believe that going outside our jurisdiction in the past, that were mentioned, were not a problem."

Stormyrain says, "In many ways your tactics and Thrayzar's are similar. Thrayzar, however, made it a point to inform his Captains as much as possible of any plans that might be deemed unusual, or outside of our normal operations. You used to do that, but since your return from the Bleaklands, that has happened less often."

Speaking in Faendryl, Ysharra says something you don't understand.

Umbazi adds his name to the signup list.

Shinann says, "That is what I have a problem with, also."

Shinann nods.

Thadston says, "Less often, but not never."

Uskeye adds his name to the signup list.

Archales says, "Neither captain has confidence in him as marshal."

Speaking to Thadston, Stormyrain says, "I cannot remember the last time you shared your plans with myself and Captain Shinann, or asked our opinion."

Faerinn says, "Which is telling."

Leafiara offhandedly comments, "Shocking."

Shinann says, "Just bypassing us... if you know who is screaming in my ear, could you ask them to stop and tell them I do not want you."

Ysharra says, "You know, I've been getting whispered to from bodiless voices for going on thirty years now."

Shinann nods.

Ysharra says, "You're going to have to do a lot better than that to unbalance me."

Chamorr heartily says, "But does the Marshal have faith in his captains."

Speaking to Ysharra, Guarrin says, "Yes but you hide it so well."

Taulramil asks, "So who is next if the marshal is out which captain?"

Shinann shifts her weight.

Archales says, "He did call them as witnesses."

Thadston asks, "Am I unfit to be your Marshal?"

Speaking drunkenly to Chamorr, Gutstorm says, "Me hash faif in yooz kernal genral."

Umbazi yells, "YES!"

Lylia says, "The captains, in their unelected positions, have remained through numerous mayoral administrations and Town Council changes. They dislike anyone challenging that authority, perhaps. They are wonderful at their posts, but they are also perhaps too...comfortable."

Ysharra says, "What an awful position to be put in."

Falvicar quietly says, "If i am not mistake.. a marshal is higher than a captain."

Speaking to Chamorr, Pukk says, "I don't think Thaddy Daddy is in control of his mind."

Stormyrain states, "In your current state, that is my opinion, yes."

Speaking to Taulramil, Leafiara says, "That has yet to be decided, but my recommendation was first right of refusal to the captains, and failing that a vote among either the captains, militia, or general public." [Ordinarily, new town council members (of which the marshal is one) are appointed by the mayor; however, as Renpaw said, this is anything but an ordinary situation as there's been no such hearing in his lifetime.]

Speaking to Thadston, Shinann says, "I have respected you from the time you gave up everything for your son. However, I do think with your erractic behavior lately, yes."

Thadston squints slowly, less in anger, more of sorrow.

Ysharra says, "I'll pit the Jackal's shadow against your azure aura tricks whenever."

Falvicar quietly says, "And Sir Andrews is himself. Of course things are going to be done differently."

Thadston says, "I see."

Speaking to Taulramil, Faerinn says, "Mayor finds a new Marshal. Neither captain goes up like that since the position is tied to a council seat." [This is correct as ordinary procedure, and would certainly be true if, for example, the marshal were to die or resign. It's more likely than not true in this exceptional circumstance too.]

Shinann slowly empties her lungs.

Thrassus says, "I believe the Council would approve of any replacements to the position."

Thadston says, "Tell me of my current state."

Speaking to Thadston, Stormyrain says, "You know why I say this. It is not a surprise to you. You could have asked for help, but instead you've allowed yourself and your judgement in turn to become compromised by her."

Lylia muses, "I wonder which Rook will take his place once this trial -- ah, excuse me, 'hearing' -- is complete?"

Speaking to Faerinn, Taulramil says, "In the middle of a battle, if the Marshal is lost who takes rank and gives orders, militarily." [I believe this would be the captains, temporarily. Like Faerinn said, though, orders to the soldiers are a different matter from the marshal's authority on the town council.]

Chamorr heartily says, "Confusion."

Speaking in Faendryl, Zolis deeply says something you don't understand.

Archales says, "Exciting times indeed."

Leafiara acknowledges, "There is an inherent conflict of interest in a mayor choosing the replacement for the very seat she's replaced. Because of that, I believe I should forfeit the right to appoint a replacement and it should be done in another way."

Vaemyr asks, "'Her'?"

Leafiara says, "However, that's a matter to be decided after the outcome of this hearing. It's possible he'll win his case."

Thadston says, "Yet he faced no..."

Thadston waves his hands around.

Speaking to Lylia, Guarrin says, "I imagine the one that is in the strongest position, or favor with Mother."

Thadston says, "This."

Speaking to Taulramil, Faerinn says, "In that case the Captains, sometimes it's the Mayor that takes up the mantle in the heat of battle."

Speaking to Faerinn, Taulramil says, "Thank you for clearing up that matter for me."

Thadston nods.

Thadston says, "Exactly."

Speaking to Taulramil, Yardie says, "Almost sounds like you're curious for the role."

Stormyrain says, "I'm not fully aware of the true state of things. I know that anytime I am in proximity to you a female voice tells me to stay away. I feel the presence of her, and you have confirmed her as your 'ghost'."

Goblyn whispers something to Lylia.

Pukk says, "Ghost."

Thadston says, "It wouldn't be the first time another woman has told you to stay away."

Speaking to Thadston, Stormyrain says, "And I fully believe she is the being that caused you to grab me by the arm several weeks back, in front of many in the balcony."

Speaking to Yardie, Taulramil says, "As much as I would be honored I could not."

Shinann blinks at Thadston.

Thadston says, "I am sorry you find this time of all times an opportunity to feel endangered."

Speaking to Lylia, Guarrin says, "I don't think this is something the Captains do lightly and I trust their intent is genuine. Regardless if it suits the Rooks politically."

Speaking to Taulramil, Yardie asks, "And why is that?"

Stormyrain continues, "Against your own will."

Speaking to Yardie, Taulramil says, "I have time left before I can leave my duties in the legion."

Ysharra whispers something to Lylia.

Felita asks, "Marshall has spooks?"

Lylia agrees, "The captains do not make these statements lightly. However, I believe they make them in error."

Thadston squints.

Speaking to Thadston, Stormyrain asks, "Unless you meant to grab me by the arm out of nowhere?"

Speaking to Taulramil, Yardie says, "Hmm."

Archales says, "Anyone with that much blood on their hands has to be haunted."

Archales says, "Or so I hear."

Thadston's entire body tenses as he clenches his fist.

Speaking to Archales, Leafiara says, "More literally in his case than most."

Lylia dryly remarks, "Yes, most of us make a living gardening."

Taulramil says, "I only see them in my sleep."

Speaking to Lylia, Ysharra asks, "Did you hear anything from this dark inhabitant while you were down there?"

Thadston glances between Stormyrain and Shinann.

Speaking to Thadston, Stormyrain asks, "Or did you mean to, and that's what enraged her?"

Stormyrain looks thoughtful for a moment, then shrugs.

Speaking to Lylia, Ysharra asks, "His passenger?"

Lylia says, "No, not a word from this entity while I was there."

Thadston says, "I believe your list is waiting, Renpaw."

Renpaw nods.

Renpaw bows to Shinann.

Renpaw bows to Stormyrain.

Shinann bows.

Faerinn says, "I saw only saw it from a distance. His azure passenger."

Renpaw says, "Thank you, thank you Captains."

Speaking to Lylia, Ysharra says, "Curious how often it appears to have an attack of shyness."

Shinann nods slowly.

Goblyn confusedly asks, "He is maybe not answering Stormyrain's question?"

Third Speaker, Taulramil: "Everyone in this great town fights for it with honor"

Renpaw yells, "Taulramil!"

Shinann just climbed up a narrow stairway.

Stormyrain bows to Renpaw.

Stormyrain just climbed up a narrow stairway.

Thadston squints.

Squire Legionnaire Taulramil just strode down a narrow stairway.

The voice of Gutstorm drunkenly says, "Well he hash shumfin azure shparkly on hish neck even now."

Taulramil nods to Renpaw in greeting.

Faerinn says, "It's his right to refuse to answer a question."

Yardie says, "This got interesting."

Taulramil says, "Lord Renpaw."

Lylia says, "Especially as this is not a trial."

Taulramil snaps to attention and crisply strikes his chest with a closed fist in a display of respect to Renpaw.

Speaking to Faerinn, Vaemyr says, "Just wonder who is actually refusing."

Taulramil gazes with interest at Thadston.

Speaking to Vaemyr, Faerinn says, "I've wondered that myself."

Thadston nods at Taulramil.

Speaking to Renpaw, Taulramil says, "I will be pretty quick, because I am not from these parts."

Renpaw bows to Taulramil.

Felita asks, "Issa spook makin Marshall acta funny?"

Taulramil says, "I only have a few things to ask the Marshal."

Falvicar whispers something to Yukito.

Speaking to Felita, Leafiara says, "Most likely."

Taulramil nods at Thadston.

Speaking to Thadston, Taulramil says, "Sir may I ask you how long have you been Marshal of this town."

The voice of Gutstorm drunkenly says, "He posheshed."

Gutstorm drunkenly says, "Me hiding sho yooz not have to shee all da ratsh chew froo me pack shilly."

Speaking to Thadston, Taulramil asks, "And in matters of protecting this town, you are the final say?"

Guennwhfar says, "Ah good thinking; please rehide."

Gutstorm drunkenly exclaims, "Make me!"

Taulramil rubs his chin thoughtfully.

Taulramil just left.

Chamorr heartily says, "Poof."

Vaemyr says, "Uh oh."

Goldstr says, "Oops."

Yardie says, "Vaalor to the end."

Ysharra says, "We've moved into the magic show part of this circus."

Chandrellia softly exclaims, "Thadston poofed him for his questions!"

Yardie says, "Put a personality on the stand and it fades away."

Taulramil just arrived.

Vaemyr says, "And unpoofed."

Taulramil blinks.

Evia says, "These old floorboards .. people always falling through."

Chandrellia softly says, "Thadston is good at this illusion game."

Taulramil says, "Excuse me."

Speaking to Evia, Ysharra says, "There's so many trap doors and secret entrances."

Thadston nods.

Taulramil says, "Where was I."

Taulramil ponders.

Thadston says, "It has been years."

Taulramil nods at Thadston.

Chandrellia softly says, "Thadston isn't going to answer him."

Speaking to Evia, Ysharra says, "Probably one for each ah...change in administration."

Taulramil says, "Well I am a military man myself and being around the town I've noticed not many have faith in you anymore."

Thadston says, "Final say? No one in this town stops talking long enough for there to ever truly be a final say."

Taulramil chuckles.

Lylia murmurs, "I would disagree with that statement."

Speaking to Ysharra, Evia says, "My favorite door here is the one which leads to the closet, how many have I seen walk with great dignity into that closet..."

Lylia asks, "Have we polled people for some vote of confidence that I am unaware of?"

Radeek asks, "Whar's da knight tanite?"

Gutstorm drunkenly says, "He poofeded."

Archales says, "Lucky for Thadston, no vote has been held."

Gutstorm drunkenly says, "He washt shannin ober dere a bit ago."

Speaking to Radeek, Leafiara says, "Down in the chamber of justice for our hearing on whether he should be removed from power."

Lylia replies, "We certainly are assuming that our own echoes are louder than the voices of the populace."

Speaking to Radeek, Leafiara adds, "Join the list to speak on the topic if you'd like."

Speaking to Thadston, Taulramil says, "Well I have to say that when I was fighting for this town, yes a Vaalorian fighting with and for humans, I noticed a lack of your presence."

Speaking to Leafiara, Radeek says, "Talkin makes m'head hurt."

Thadston says, "It is my duty to help protect this town from danger. That danger takes on many forms."

Speaking to Evia, Ysharra says, "I like the one with the tangle of roots and a bunch of amphibians."

Speaking drunkenly to Radeek, Gutstorm says, "Finkin makesh my head hurt, sho besht not to do it."

Radeek mutters, "An' ever'one elses too prolly."

Uskeye says, "Hoo boy. It's gonna be dawn before we get through the list at this point."

Thadston says, "Witches in shadows, Rooks in the tunnels or Moot Hall, Ithzir from another valence, or demons at our gates."

Speaking to Ysharra, Evia exclaims, "And sometimes I admit, I think to myself...maybe they won't come out!"

Yardie asks, "Is it that signifcant for a Vaalor to fight with humans?"

Speaking to Leafiara, Guennwhfar asks, "Can I speak about how cute my girfrind is?"

Speaking slowly to Radeek, Goblyn offers, "I can be helping with that..."

Speaking to Thadston, Taulramil says, "I would hope you understand that overstepping your boundaries as just the marshal and not the mayor could cause harm to the residents of this great town."

Taulramil tilts his head up.

Speaking to Evia, Ysharra says, "A regularity problem, I'm sure."

Speaking to Guennwhfar, Pukk says, "Thank you."

Taulramil says, "Everone in this great town fights for it with honor, from what I've seen, and to know they lost faith in the one who has the duty to protect the walls."

Taulramil shakes his head, clucking his tongue.

Speaking to Goblyn, Radeek says, "Lemme guess...ye'd make something else hurt ta takes m'mindoff'n m'head."

Taulramil says, "It's battle."

Evia says, "Our government has always suffered from issues with boundaries, it seems."

Goblyn mutters, "Maybe Thadston should be adding... 'this light that does encircle me in times' to this list he did make of dangers."

Taulramil says, "It's what we do."

Thadston says, "Boundaries are not my problem. It is those in power, who wish to repaint the lines with every election."

Taulramil says, "I must take my leave and I hope my words make you consider your actions."

Speaking to Evia, Ysharra says, "I don't know of one that doesn't."

Thadston nods.

Taulramil snaps to attention and crisply strikes his chest with a closed fist in a display of respect to Renpaw.

Speaking to Goblyn, Faerinn says, "I was thinking along the lines of 'and sometimes that danger takes the shape of a former knight.'"

Speaking to Thadston, Taulramil says, "Good luck in your hearing."

Squire Legionnaire Taulramil just climbed up a narrow stairway.

Speaking to Seree, Radeek says, "Can sets yerslef on fire a'playin' wit' matches."

Fourth Speaker, Faerinn: "You seem determined to finally die a hero, but you should not be allowed to take anyone else with you on your suicide pact"

Renpaw yells, "Faerinn!"

Barrister Faerinn just climbed down a narrow stairway.

Speaking to Leafiara, Pukk asks, "Who appoints somebody as a marshal?"

Faerinn bows to Renpaw.

Thadston twists his head slightly, cracking his neck. He looks relieved.

Speaking to Pukk, Leafiara says, "The mayor."

Faerinn bows to Thadston.

Renpaw bows to Faerinn.

Leafiara adds, "Normally."

Speaking hoarsely to Radeek, Seree asks, "Do I look like a child to you?"

Goblyn thoughtfully says, "Though maybe it is... uncertain if he is danger or assistance, still, in this time."

Speaking drunkenly to Leafiara, Gutstorm says, "Me make a goot marshall."

Speaking to Leafiara, Pukk asks, "So the Mayor is over the marshal then yes?"

Guennwhfar exclaims, "Pukk the sheriff!"

Speaking in Faendryl, Zolis deeply says something you don't understand.

Guennwhfar sings:

"I shot the sheriff"

Speaking in Tehir to Seree, Radeek says something you don't understand.

Taulramil asks, "With an oak wand?"

Faerinn says, "Acting beyond the gates is not the issue."

Evia says, "Then stop sayin it."

Speaking in lightly accented Faendryl to Zolis, Goblyn says something you don't understand.

Faerinn says, "It's turning our militia on our own citizenry."

Speaking to Thadston, Faerinn says, "Maybe it's your azure passenger's fault. We don't know, because you refuse any help. You seem determined to finally die a hero, but you should not be allowed to take anyone else with you on your suicide pact."

Speaking to Taulramil, Yardie says, "Is it that major for Vaalor to fight with Humans? I don't understand."

Speaking to Leafiara, Pukk asks, "So if the mayor tells the marshal to do something or not to do something, and he goes against the mayor that is grounds for removing him right?"

Speaking in Faendryl to Goblyn, Thrassus says something you don't understand.

Speaking deeply in Faendryl to Goblyn, Zolis says something you don't understand.

Speaking to Renpaw, Faerinn says, "I return your floor to you."

Renpaw asks, "Thadston?"

Speaking to Pukk, Leafiara replies, "No, not in and of itself. The militia is a separate power with its own authority, as it were."

Thadston Requests Faendryl Enclave Rebuttal to Faerinn: "The charges leveled at [him] are more the product of fevered unrest than logic"

Thadston says, "Faendryl Enclave."

Evia yells, "Don't take the floor...its full of people snatching holes!"

Xorus's group just climbed down a narrow stairway.

Speaking to Leafiara, Pukk says, "Then why is the Mayor in charge of picking the marshal if it is a separate power? Seems weird to me."

Lylia nods once.

Speaking amusedly in lightly accented Faendryl to Zolis, Goblyn allows something you don't understand.

Speaking to Faerinn, Lylia asks, "Would you like a glass of water?"

Lylia removes some spring water from in her wrap.

Yardie asks, "Did....he just ignore me again?"

Guennwhfar says, "Snatching holes .... mmm."

Speaking to Pukk, Leafiara says, "Once in place, the marshal has his own authority."

Lylia says, "You seem rather exercised."

Faerinn says, "I have my own thanks."

Lylia smiles.

Faerinn grins.

Radeek says, "Last time I were up here we burned a feller at da stake...won'er if'n it'll happen tanite...."

Faerinn removes a glass of ice water from in his shaving kit.

Leafiara adds, "For five years, presuming he isn't removed."

Faerinn takes a drink from his ice water.

CS: +141 - TD: +151 + CvA: -17 + d100: +53 == +26

Warded off!

Faerinn chuckles.

Gutstorm yells, "Ill take a shot o' whiskey!"

Lylia says, "Yes, of course you know where it is on the bar in the home where you had been squatting."

Lylia smiles thinly and without warmth.

Lylia put some spring water in her wrap.

Lylia turns to face Thadston.

Pukk says, "I see."

Faerinn put a glass of ice water in his shaving kit.

Speaking deeply in Faendryl to Goblyn, Zolis says something you don't understand.

Speaking to himself, Guarrin mutters, "That seems uncalled for."

Speaking deeply in Faendryl to Goblyn, Zolis exclaims something you don't understand.

Speaking softly to Leafiara, Chandrellia asks, "Do those chosen by Thadston to represent him from the Enclave have a choice in it?"

Speaking slowly in lightly accented Faendryl to Zolis, Goblyn offers something you don't understand.

Speaking to Chandrellia, Leafiara replies, "As far as I know, yes. It's not as if the whole Enclave is down there."

'Lylia confesses, "Really, there is little to offer here as the charges leveled at you are more the product of fevered unrest than logic. I am a bit at a loss."

Speaking in lightly accented Faendryl to Thrassus, Goblyn says something you don't understand.

Speaking deeply in Faendryl to Goblyn, Zolis says something you don't understand.

Speaking softly to Leafiara, Chandrellia says, "True enough just trying to understand how it all works."

Thadston says, "Fair enough. Perhaps that says it all."

Speaking deeply in Faendryl to Goblyn, Zolis says something you don't understand.

Speaking in lightly accented Faendryl to Thrassus, Goblyn mouths something you don't understand.

Archales says, "Not even going to try to refute, just attack the character of the witness."

Speaking to Chandrellia, Leafiara admits, "To an extent, that's what we're discovering collectively."

Speaking to Madmountan, Radeek says, "Ya gots a bug on yer face."

Faerinn says, "I must have missed Glethad's trial."

Lylia says, "I could try, of course, if you like...but grandstanding is perhaps its own downfall."

Lylia asks, "Ah, Glethad, Stone's creature, yes? The one I gave over to Stone over Thadston's objections?"

Speaking amusedly in lightly accented Faendryl to Zolis, Goblyn says something you don't understand.

Thadston says, "Perhaps the only thing left unsaid is how unfortunate the witch didn't get your blood too."

Thadston nods at Faerinn.

Thadston turns away from Faerinn, ignoring him.

Renpaw gazes in wonder at his surroundings.

A pained expression crosses Faerinn's face.

Ysharra says, "He asked, Lylia assented."

Speaking deeply in Faendryl to Goblyn, Zolis says something you don't understand.

Faerinn asks, "Racism now?"

Faerinn says, "You are a lost cause Thadston."

Speaking helpfully in lightly accented Faendryl to Zolis, Goblyn suggests something you don't understand.

Speaking deeply in Faendryl to Goblyn, Zolis says something you don't understand.

Lylia admits, "If anything, Thadston was acting in accordance with who he has always been, against Stone. I should have foreseen it and acted to prevent it more quickly than I did...although I also suspected in the end that it would not have mattered."

Speaking deeply in Faendryl to Goblyn, Zolis says something you don't understand.

Radeek mutters, "Ne'er thought he shoulda been put in charge a anythin roun' here."

Speaking in lightly accented Faendryl to Zolis, Goblyn says something you don't understand.

Speaking in Faendryl to Goblyn, Thrassus says something you don't understand.

Speaking to Thadston, Lylia says, "You do always get your man, do you not? Pursuing those whom you feel have evaded justice is something of your life's work, after all."

Thadston coldly says, "No, you're right. It's just a shame you weren't above the mines when it all happened."

Thadston glances at Faerinn.

Thadston says, "To speak to him such...."

Yardie asks, "Anyone hear that?"

Speaking deeply in Faendryl to Goblyn, Zolis says something you don't understand.

Leafiara marvels, "Wow."

Speaking in lightly accented Faendryl to Thrassus, Goblyn says something you don't understand.

Speaking to Radeek, Stormyrain offers, "He's the Interim Marshal until Thrayzar returns."

Radeek says, "Shoulda run his arse back down south when he first came a'marchin up here."

Leafiara slowly says, "He's literally wishing the man dead."

Speaking in lightly accented Faendryl to Zolis, Goblyn promises something you don't understand.

Thadston coldly says, "The nerve of you...he is more than you will ever be...."

Speaking in Faendryl to Yardie, Thrassus asks something you don't understand.

Speaking deeply in Faendryl to Goblyn, Zolis says something you don't understand.

Stormyrain murmurs, "There she is."

Evia asks, "What is happening, is it someone's turn or is this just general rambling?"

Guarrin says, "Oh, looks like we hit a nerve."

Speaking cheerfully in lightly accented Faendryl to Zolis, Goblyn says something you don't understand.

Speaking to Thadston, Faerinn asks, "Perhaps you would have rather me been killed by Hochstib before I even came to this town then?"

Archales says, "Why is he talking like that."

Stormyrain says, "That's not him."

Speaking to Thadston, Faerinn says, "And don't you reflect your son on me."

Leafiara remarks, "I knew it. If he dared to show up, he'd lose his case no matter how brilliant the defense."

Speaking deeply in Faendryl to Goblyn, Zolis says something you don't understand.

Roelon deeply says, "His spook."

Vaemyr says, "He was there for a moment..."

Speaking gratefully in lightly accented Faendryl to Thrassus, Goblyn says something you don't understand.

Vaemyr says, "But only a moment."

Guarrin says, "Must be whatever else he is carrying with him."

Stormyrain yells, "Can Thadston repeat what he last said, I could not quite hear it over the noise up here."

Thadston says, "I believe your list is growing impatient Judge."

(Lylia takes a discreet step back and straightens the cuff of her glove.)

Thadston clenches his jaw.

Fifth Speaker, Lylia: "He remains who he always has been. Orderly of mind, dogged to a fault, uncompromising."

Renpaw asks, "Lylia is actually, next on the list. Have you a statement?"

Renpaw nods at Lylia.

Renpaw bows to Faerinn.

Speaking to Thadston, Faerinn asks, "Can you no longer recognize the voice of your own captain?"

Faerinn bows to Renpaw.

Lylia airily says, "Well, while I am here..."

Thadston says, "If I had Captains, I would."

Lylia smiles wryly.

Speaking to Renpaw, Faerinn says, "I apologize for what this man has done to your court."

Barrister Faerinn just climbed up a narrow stairway.

Leafiara comments, "Such contempt."

Radeek mutters, "Dig da grave a bit deeper....."

Speaking to Yukito, Guarrin says, "I don't think it is that straightforward."

Ushakaron deeply asks, "Well the captains did kind of disown him, so he them?"

Lylia says, "I do, actually."

Faerinn says, "Racist pile of thrak crap."

Lylia clears her throat.

Speaking to Faerinn, Vaemyr says, "You got through to his passenger, more than I could do."

Speaking softly to Faerinn, Chandrellia says, "Nice nerve touch there."

Lylia tilts her head up.

Leafiara says, "I hardly need make a case at all. He's undoing himself as we speak."

Guennwhfar says, "Ok you mundanes can carry on with this trial nonsense all you want; I need to do stuff with my gal."

(Lylia raises her voice slightly to be heard at the back of the balcony.)

Stormyrain says, "That statement is no surprise, it's been clear he's been made to feel that way for awhile. I do not believe that is of his own volition."

Speaking to Chandrellia, Faerinn says, "Sadly it was mutual."

Lylia says, "We are told this is not a criminal trial but a competency hearing, so I shall address that specifically. While others contend he has changed, I would dispute this on both a personal and a professional level."

Speaking to Leafiara, Yardie asks, "But why?"

Lylia remarks, "I have known Thadston Andrews since the moment he arrived in town, a Hendoran knight who promised to build an outpost. And it was built. He promised to burn the Rooks in their nests, and they were burned, despite the Rooks' using children as shields."

Speaking simply to Yardie, Leafiara says, "The magic surrounding him."

Speaking to Faerinn, Guarrin says, "He was truly out of line."

Speaking in Faendryl, Zolis deeply says something you don't understand.

Lylia says, "This establishes a pattern. This is who he is."

Lylia says, "The man has endured the Ithzir and their assaults to the mind. He withstood Raznel and her illusions, some of which were monstrously and personally cruel. He has remained here through multiple mayoral administrations and has at every turn fought on behalf of his charges, whether they were his Hendoran soldiers or the townsfolk here in his new home."

Speaking to Leafiara, Yardie says, "So you mean, he's not in control of his own faculties."

Speaking to Yardie, Leafiara agrees, "Yes."

Lylia admits, "He is a man who is not concerned with popularity or consensus approval, and I do not always like him. I do, however, respect him -- and he remains who he always has been. Orderly of mind, dogged to a fault, uncompromising."

Speaking deeply in Faendryl to Thrassus, Zolis says something you don't understand.

Faerinn says, "That again maybe it just shows how unstable he is. I never came close to striking him while he mocked me for my parents and homeland being murdered."

Ysharra says, "Maybe she's trying to get it to surface."

Lylia narrows her eyes.

Lylia says, "Those who hear voices and see signs of malign possession and external control are perhaps the ones who are haunted, with all due respect."

Renpaw inclines his ear, listening intently.

Lylia asks, "We can all see the azure light surrounding him, but why do we assume it is malign? Why do we assume he is not the one in control of it?"

Lylia asks, "Or of her, we should say?"

Speaking quietly to Goblyn, Raelee says, "I would be curious to know if the Ithzir attacks on his mind made him more susceptible to this, somehow."

Yardie says, "Possession."

Radeek says, "Say one thin' fer Lylia..she can sure spit it right out there...don't round mincin' words, dat'n don't."

Goblyn whispers something to Raelee.

Lylia says, "If I had no leg, I might use a crutch. If I had no eyes, I would use whatever would be my sight."

Leafiara interjects, "That was thoroughly explained earlier by the captain, in any case."

Thadston clenches his jaw.

Lylia says, "We should not presume, then, that Thadston is the one controlled. He is the controller, I believe."

Lylia nods once.

Umbazi says, "He seems to be getting angry again."

Faerinn says, "Is he about to turn on his defender."

Speaking to Renpaw, Lylia says, "Thank you for your time."

Speaking to Thadston, Lylia says, "And thank you for your service."

Mayor Leafiara (...and Sixth Speaker) Requests Rebuttal to Lylia: "Thadston is his own danger to the town in this state"

Leafiara yells, "I would like to make a rebuttal to this and bring Captain Stormyrain with me!"

Yardie says, "If he's getting angry, I'd like to be pointed to the nearest exit."

Renpaw nods.

Renpaw bows to Lylia.

Lylia smoothly says, "By all means."

Renpaw bows to Tolida.

Mayor Leafiara's group just climbed down a narrow stairway.

[OOC: so until she leaves the floor, this log has no idea what's being said up on the balcony]

Renpaw bows to Xorus.

Renpaw nods.

Leafiara nods in greeting.

Tolida just climbed up a narrow stairway.

Stormyrain folds her hands behind her back.

Lylia asks, "Shall I remain, or...?"

Leafiara twists her head slightly, cracking her neck. She looks relieved.

Lylia glances at a narrow stairway.

Leafiara amiably offers, "By all means."

Renpaw points at a narrow stairway.

Leafiara nods at Lylia.

Renpaw says, "Excuse me, excuse me."

Leafiara says, "Ah, or as the Judge directs."

Renpaw says, "You have both used By All Means."

From up on a narrow stairway, you hear Ushakaron yell, "Good stuff former mayor!"

Leafiara smiles at Renpaw.

Renpaw says, "That falls under my authority."

Leafiara nods appreciatively at Renpaw.

Lylia grins at Renpaw.

Renpaw says, "To be issuing All the Means."

Renpaw chuckles.

Speaking amiably to Renpaw, Leafiara says, "Apologies then."

From up on a narrow stairway, you hear Pukk yell, "You tell em Leafi!"

Leafiara winks at Renpaw.

Renpaw says, "Yes Lylia please return to the balcony. For the sake of, well, no blood tonight."

Xorus nods.

Stormyrain twists her head slightly, cracking her neck. She looks relieved.

Xorus's group just climbed up a narrow stairway.

Leafiara says, "Now, a question was raised: in what way he exceeded his authority in pursuing the fugitive Malluch Burdos."

Leafiara says, "However, as mentioned earlier, he waited to execute his Operation Stonewall until he heard confirmed reports that the followers had left the camps outside of town."

Leafiara says, "It was an operation of mere desperation, in admittedly desperate times, against foot soldiers rather than the ringleader."

Leafiara says, "In fact, for all the talk of Thadston's past operations against the Rooks, it well parallels Rysus' own ill-fated operation against the Hendoran outpost when his true target was Dennet Kestrel."

Leafiara says, "He's become what he hated, executing secret operations unbeknownst to mayor and captains alike."

Thadston says, "No one knows the Rooks better than you."

Leafiara says, "And *that* is one among many reasons to believe the azure glow is controlling him."

Thadston coldly says, "How well DO you know Rooks? I wonder woman..."

Leafiara glances at Thadston.

Leafiara smirks.

Thadston twists his head slightly, cracking his neck. He looks relieved.

Leafiara says, "Your comment would ring more true had you not made two separate deals with the Rooks during the battles with Raznel."

Leafiara says, "One as a personal agenda to take in your son Disean."

Leafiara says, "The other to evacuate the town in Rook wagons."

Leafiara says, "You ordered me and many other militia members door to door helping people evacuate into those very wagons."

Thadston says, "There is absolutely no crime in me conducting operations unknown to your office, or my Captains, should I deem it fit."

Leafiara nods at Thadston.

Leafiara says, "Then do the honorable thing and remove your captains from power instead of this charade of respecting them while showing utter contempt for them and excluding them."

Thadston says, "You could not even decide if you should pardon a criminal until he had bettered you."

Leafiara says, "No thanks to your abuse of him as a prisoner engendering sympathy for him."

Thadston says, "There are two Captains, one Marshal. Your argument holds no weight, unless there existed Three Marshals."

Leafiara shakes her head.

Thadston says, "The chain of command exists for me to be able to execute operations as I need, given the situation."

Thadston asks, "Respect?"

Leafiara affirms, "Respect. For the integrity of our militia."

Thadston says, "It is the Captains who perhaps should be on trial now, for lack of respect and duty to their Marshal."

Leafiara snorts!

Stormyrain says, "As you said yourself, you do not recognize our place as Captains anymore."

Thadston says, "Dare I say, insubordination."

Stormyrain can offer Thadston only a blank expression.

Thadston asks, "I did?"

Speaking to Thadston, Stormyrain says, "You did."

Stormyrain says, "Here, this night."

From up on a narrow stairway, you hear Ushakaron yell, "I thought you captains said that!"

Leafiara glances between Thadston and Stormyrain.

Thadston says, "When you publicly speak out against the Rooks, you can speak to me of integrity Mayor."

Leafiara says, "When you denounce your own dealings with them, I'll take that seriously."

Thadston says, "Until then, you're as hollow as Rysus's grave."

From up on a narrow stairway, you hear Chamorr yell, "No way!"

Thadston says, "Which is empty. Because you poisoned him and he turned to mush."

From up on a narrow stairway, you hear Pukk yell, "The Rooks care about the town!"

Leafiara inquires, "Jealous that I finished what you couldn't?"

Leafiara grins smugly.

Leafiara emphasizes, "Your dealings with Mother's Rooks outnumber mine two to zero."

Renpaw asks, "Mayor, you are up next on the list. Do you wish to add more statements?"

Leafiara reiterates, "You're not yourself and you need to step down until we get your magic problem sorted out."

Thadston squints.

Leafiara says, "I'm quite done. Thadston is his own danger to the town in this state."

Leafiara nods at Renpaw.

Thadston says, "In Charlatos, you will be."

Leafiara evenly says, "Please, run as you like."

Leafiara nods at Thadston.

Speaking formally to Renpaw, Leafiara says, "Thank you."

Leafiara nods.

Mayor Leafiara's group just climbed up a narrow stairway.

Midway Chatter

[OOC note: I forget to PEER AREA again for a bit here, so hopefully nothing too major lost; I do pick it back up well before Chamorr's done, thankfully]

Speaking to Uskeye, Lylia asks, "Not a fan of Thrazyar, then?"

From below a narrow stairway, you hear Renpaw yell, "Chamorr!"

Speaking to Cruxophim, Pukk says, "Okay, you can go down there and eat Thadston now."

Faerinn says, "I think he'd be able to answer a simple question then."

Chamorr yells, "I dinna do it, honest!"

Vaemyr says, "You're next on the list."

Uskeye says, "I was traveling when stuff with Thrayzar went down. I can only speak to what I lived through."

Pukk yells, "He's innocent! He was with me!"

Umbazi says, "Chamorr."

Lord Chamorr just climbed down a narrow stairway.

Radeek says, "Ain' gonna be nobody burned tanite so I reckon I'll head back ta bed. Ya'll stays outta trouble."

Goblyn whispers something to Leafiara.

Speaking to Radeek, Vaemyr says, "Never stay out of trouble, that takes all the fun away."

Leafiara whispers something to Goblyn.

Radeek says, "Oops."

Evia says, "Let me guess..imps this, imps that, imps blah blah, imps, blah blah guilty."

Pukk says, "Sounds about right."

Cruxophim whispers something to Goblyn.

Speaking to Evia, Ysharra says, "The Gryphons and the local Magisters must tire of that."

Leafiara whispers something to Goblyn.

Speaking to Ysharra, Evia says, "Overly trite, certainly."

Leafiara whispers something to Goblyn.

Lylia says, "I grow tired of it, frankly, and I am no Imperial. In simply arguing for a reasoned position instead of an impassioned one, I have been accused of being an 'Empire loyalist.'"

Leafiara whispers something to Goblyn.

Lylia bluntly says, "I mean, look at me."

Speaking to Raelee, Ysharra asks, "I'm sure they never mean you. Sound familiar?"

Yardie asks, "Forgive my ignorance, but what empire?"

The voice of Gutstorm drunkenly says, "Maybe itsh time to disband da militia, rename it and shtart ober."

Speaking offhandedly to Yardie, Leafiara says, "The Turamzzyrian Empire."

Speaking to Yardie, Lylia says, "They meant the human empire, the Turamzzyrian Empire."

Yardie says, "I'm starting to think I was safer in Icemule."

Speaking to Ysharra, Raelee says, "They can say what they will. Even if they do mean me, I care not."

Speaking to Yardie, Guarrin says, "Probably."

Speaking to Ysharra, Raelee says, "I am here for my work, not to befriend the locals."

Speaking to Yardie, Pukk says, "We call them imps."

Speaking to Raelee, Ysharra says, "I know. I just find the platitudes to be a little stale. I suppose that's why they're platitudes."

Seventh Speaker, Chamorr: "Good job. Woulda done the same."

>peer area

Gazing into the area, you see...

[Moot Hall, Chamber of Justice]

Two high-backed, elaborately carved chairs face the imposing, burnished oak bench where members of the official Town Council convene to decide matters of solemn importance. A narrow stairway leads up to a low balcony that surrounds the chamber, providing ample seating for interested visitors to observe the proceedings. You also see an oak door and a modwir arch.

Also here: Lord Chamorr, Lord Renpaw, Lord Thadston

Chamorr heartily says, "Sure."

Thadston says, "I assume it should give you no more pause than the mind and memories of Reannah Kestrel inside Captain Shinann's head."

The voice of Gutstorm drunkenly says, "Dont lie, yer alsho here to get free food fer owlie, we on to you Raelee."

Speaking to Pukk, Yardie asks, "I take it, they don't have a favorable position amongst the Landing?"

Thadston asks, "Were you present at her hearing?"

Thadston peers quizzically at Chamorr.

Shinann sighs.

Leafiara remarks, "Knew that was coming eventually."

Speaking to Raelee, Ysharra says, "Said in the same tone of voice where I get told my ears are so pretty, for a half-breed."

Shinann offers Stormyrain an etched militia badge.

Stormyrain declines Shinann's offer.

Evia says, "Aah, interesting."

Chamorr heartily says, "Maybe."

Thadston says, "No, you weren't."

Speaking to Yardie, Pukk says, "No, imps are usually bad news."

Goblyn grumbles, "This is changing the subject of -his- trial in this time now."

Thadston says, "Because there wasn't one."

Thadston says, "Because let me tell you a story Chamorr."

Chamorr heartily says, "Then that's why I don't remember."

Stormyrain says, "I am not the one to take that, and it is not warranted. The memories you hold have never caused you to lose control, harm someone, and you are not in control of the entire militia's actions."

Chamorr heartily says, "No."

Speaking to Pukk, Evia says, "I am shocked at your lack of conviction...you said "usually"."

Leafiara says, "There's no mayoral procedure to remove a captain; that's the marshal's duty and decision."

Thadston says, "The Brotherhood of the Rooks stand to profit and grow if I am removed or hindered."

Stormyrain smiles at Shinann.

Pukk yells, "Oh gods no! Not a story!"

Speaking heartily to Thadston, Chamorr says, "Hush."

Lylia explains, "There is a great deal of anti-Imperial sentiment, some of it justified and some of it merely the acting out of oppositional, obstreperous children."

Speaking to Evia, Pukk says, "Well, there is a imp that I don't dislike."

Thadston asks, "Who on the balcony has been the most supportive, and outspoken in such support, of the Rooks?"

Thadston says, "Look no further than your Mayor."

Thadston says, "Who has abused her own office to seek me dismissed."

The voice of Gutstorm drunkenly says, "He sayin yooz in cahootsh wit da rooksh Leafi."

Thadston says, "When the double standard of possession, dark magic, instability, you name it, exists all around her."

Leafiara lightly says, "Ah, yes, proper use of the law and a fair hearing is abuse now."

Thadston says, "So dance, dance all you want Bear. If you can't see the strings, I can't help you."

Chamorr heartily says, "You are the head of the miltia."

Pukk yells, "Wrong! I have been more supportive!"

Speaking heartily to Renpaw, Chamorr says, "Tell him to shush."

Speaking to Leafiara, Pukk says, "I have."

Speaking to Stormyrain, Lylia says, "With due respect, Captain, you have held your post through...three mayors now? Four? Is it five? And through countless changes in Town Council members. You exert a great deal of influence, more than in most positions. To say that a militia captain does not have much sway is...well."

Renpaw glances at Thadston.

Renpaw says, "Let him speak."

Renpaw nods at Thadston.

Renpaw turns an inquisitive ear toward Chamorr.

Chamorr heartily says, "Would you ever allow a standing army to camp outside the gates."

Speaking to Lylia, Stormyrain says, "And yet, as you saw the Marshal holds control over the actions of the entire militia with the Stonewall operation, which was opposed by the Captains present to no avail."

Chamorr heartily says, "Yes or no."

Chamorr heartily says, "Combative."

Thadston asks, "Would you?"

Chamorr heartily says, "Acourse not."

Pukk yells, "Answer the question!"

Lylia says, "If he felt you were compromised by the 'Blood Son,' did he have a choice? That is the impasse you and he have reached, it seems. You feel he is taking orders from other forces; perhaps he felt the same in your willingness to aid and abet an escaped murderer."

Thadston says, "Nor would I."

Chamorr nods.

Evia says, "He does not have to answer, remember."

Lady Casiphia just came through a modwir arch.

Thadston glances at Casiphia.

'Thadston slowly empties his lungs.

Evia says, "Oh."

Speaking to Lylia, Stormyrain says, "I was in no way willing to aid and abet an escaped murderer, I was protecting--oh this should be interesting."

Casiphia glances at Thadston.

[OOC note: for ease of readability, I'll render her actions up on the balcony in italics rather than the usual bold of all GM NPC actions]

Lady Casiphia just climbed up a narrow stairway.

Casiphia adds her name to the signup list.

Chamorr heartily says, "When you put this operation into effect, were there non combative civilains there."

Casiphia nods.'

Lylia asks, "Malluch Burdos is not an escaped murderer?"

Casiphia says, "Evening all."

The voice of Gutstorm drunkenly asks, "Is Cashiphia one da bad guysh too?"

Lylia murmurs, "Thirty years has certainly flown by."

Leafiara amiably greets, "Good eve."

Casiphia moves to stand near the back of the room, but still within view of the area below.

Speaking to Lylia, Stormyrain says, "I was saying that it was not Malluch I was interested in, it was his followers many of which are citizens here in town. They were my responsibility, not him."

Speaking to Casiphia, Faerinn says, "Good evening, Ro-Casiphia."

Chamorr heartily says, "Or were they all moved to the temple."

Speaking to Casiphia, Goldstr says, "Goods to see ye M'Lady."

Speaking to Lylia, Guarrin asks, "There were civilians amongst them. Should we cut down any innocent in our way to recapture lost fugitives?"

Chamorr heartily says, "Well."

Felita asks, "Is she the spook?"

Speaking to Guarrin, Lylia asks, "Ah, you mean those whom Thadston allowed to go to the temple and out of harm's way? The ones that Malluch hid himself among, much as a Rook might hide behind a child, to evade justice?"

Speaking to Lylia, Guarrin asks, "He...allowed?"

Speaking to Guarrin, Lylia says, "Yes, there were civilians about. What a pity Malluch chose to endanger them in such a way."

Casiphia slowly empties her lungs.

Thadston says, "They were moved."

Pukk yells, "Chamorr is the bear and you're the picnic basket Thaddy! He's going to eat you up!"

Speaking to Guarrin, Lylia says, "I would say that, yes. He could have set fire to all their tents and camps."

Speaking to Lylia, Guarrin says, "Agreed. One's eagerness for blood and justice should not put those under their protection at risk."

Thadston says, "We foolishly attacked some enhanced golems of Grishom, but the so-called weak, ill, what have you, were gone from the camps."

Faerinn says, "We took them to the Temple to keep them from further harm from Thadston."

Chamorr heartily says, "When you were trying to assert the dangers of such an army at our gates, did yer captains balk and disagree with yer assessment of the situation."

Faerinn says, "Because he was talking about burning those camps himself."

Speaking to Guarrin, Lylia replies, "I have had to learn a few things about how things are done here. They are rather different than they are in New Ta'Faendryl."

Thrassus asks, "Didn't Chamorr start slaughtering those citizens wholesale at one point to prevent them from joining Stone?"

Speaking to Faerinn, Lylia says, "The thing he did not do. Yes."

Thadston says, "The Captains were entangled with the Mayor, and the Gryphons, who all parties danced back and forth in aiding Malluch, not aiding Malluch, aiding him, not aiding him."

Speaking to Thrassus, Faerinn says, "Yes, Chamorr did that."

Speaking to Thrassus, Pukk says, "Shhh. Don't bring up logic."

Thadston says, "Yet I do not see any Gryphons on trial this night. I wonder where their jurisdiction begins and ends."

Leafiara remarks, "He did, but that was after the discovery of the convenient fact that his followers needed an escort to the temple and not an escort back to the Deadfall."

Leafiara admits, "Definitely worth mentioning, though."

Speaking to Lylia, Faerinn says, "Because they were moved."

Chamorr heartily says, "So you had to make a determination on yer own, huh."

Thrassus says, "Kind of ironic for him to bring them up, then."

Thadston says, "Get to your point."

Speaking amusedly to Thrassus, Goblyn says, "He does like to point to -other- -past- actions and trials. He does not focus on his own. It is... strange."

Chamorr heartily says, "The point is."

Lylia says, "Had this been handled in a Faendryl manner, there would not have been time to move them. Or rather, they would move with the winds, being naught but ash."

Speaking to Thrassus, Goblyn adds, "But maybe effective, in some times."

Chamorr and Thadston shake hands.

Umbazi says, "It's called distraction."

Speaking heartily to Thadston, Chamorr says, "Good job."

Lylia says, "Remarkable that you have spent so much time around us and know us so little."

The voice of Gutstorm drunkenly says, "Why he jush not shay he shorry and be done wif all dish."

Speaking to Lylia, Faerinn says, "That is coming to an end."

Chamorr heartily says, "Woulda done the same."

Thadston nods at Chamorr.

Lylia insincerely says, "Pity."

Thadston grins at Chamorr.

Umbazi says, "Because he's not sorry."

Leafiara agrees, "Astounding indeed, Gutstorm."

Speaking heartily to Renpaw, Chamorr says, "Thanks."

Xorus says, "Stone has been referring to his golems as 'harvesters' for years. There was really little question the 'harvest' when he arrived was to take those people with him."

Renpaw bows to Chamorr.

Lord Chamorr just climbed up a narrow stairway.

Eighth Speaker, Umbazi: "The question has been asked in many quarters in this town, and no one is answering it, for you will not allow anyone to examine you"

Renpaw yells, "Umbazi!"

Speaking to Xorus, Lylia says, "We are back to gardening again."

Speaking to Lylia, Faerinn says, "This half Round-Ear is ceasing all future contracts with the Enclave."

Pukk says, "I for one, did not see the twist of the Gryphons being part of the Rooks. That was a twist."

Lord Umbazi just climbed down a narrow stairway.

Lylia indifferently says, "I am bereft."

Umbazi nods to Renpaw in greeting.

Speaking to Faerinn, Yardie asks, "Wait? What? Why?"

Umbazi nods to Thadston in greeting.

Speaking to Yardie, Faerinn says, "Because I've learned what I truly am to them. Half-Human."

Umbazi recites:

"I have no evidence to offer of your unsuitability for office. Instead, I have questions--questions about why you have changed so drastically since the Bleaklands. Why you are willing to declare war on sick people under the town's protection. What the azure thing that keeps glowing near your neck is--your 'burden', as you call it."

Umbazi recites:

"And why those who have known you now say that they do not recognize you from your words or behavior--to the point where there are rumors that you are possessed or under mind control."

Lylia says, "You have learned that you and I do not agree, and therefore you are full to brimming over with spite. I am sorry for that."

Umbazi recites:

"Now, rumors are not proof, not by a long shot. I cannot say for certain that you are possessed or mind controlled. But the question has been asked in many quarters in this town, and no one is answering it, for you will not allow anyone to examine you."

Goblyn whispers something to Xorus.

Umbazi recites:

"Are you prepared to answer these questions now? And if not, why not?"

Lylia says, "But I am doing what I must, as I always do, to defend a human."

Umbazi recites:

"By the way, I would not consider you asking the Faendryl Enclave to testify on your behalf yet again to be an acceptable response. I want you to answer. Not them."

Speaking to Faerinn, Yardie says, "I don't agree. To them? I.....I don't see it that way."

Umbazi recites:

"And please forego personal attacks on me and others. They do not answer questions, either. And they are merely distractions. I am not interested in distractions."

Lylia says, "Because he asked, and because he is in the right."

Speaking to Lylia, Faerinn says, "I tore your argument such a gaping hole that your client went berserk."

Speaking heartily to Lylia, Chamorr says, "There would be blood in the streets afore a monarch ever takes over."

Lylia says, "You went down there and frothed at the mouth a bit, and I hoped you felt better after doing so."

Pukk says, "That is just what a Rook would say."

Pukk says, "Good for him."

Lylia says, "I still do hope so. Good luck to you."

Thadston says, "I'll answer one question, for every one question you answer for me."

Thadston nods at Umbazi.

Umbazi says, "No."

Thadston says, "I'll even go first."

Thadston seems to be waiting for something.

Umbazi says, "No."

Speaking to Lylia, Faerinn says, "I learned who my actual friends are."

Pukk yells, "That's not how this works!"

Thadston asks, "No Gryphon?"

Speaking baffledly to Chamorr, Goblyn asks, "This is ... not desired? This blood in the streets?"

Umbazi says, "This is your hearing, not mine."

Faerinn says, "Worth every silver."

Thadston says, "Yet."

Thadston says, "Until you're the next pawn to stand in the way of the Brotherhood."

Speaking drunkenly to Faerinn, Gutstorm says, "Much reshpect."

Casiphia shakes her head.

Yardie says, "That's.....that's not good at all."

Umbazi says, "Still not answering any questions and still making personal attacks and threats."

Speaking to Faerinn, Lylia murmurs, "Can we have personal drama later, please? I am rather busy at the moment with more pressing matters."

Lylia says, "Thank you."

Thadston says, "A cautious warning is not a threat."

Speaking heartily to Lylia, Chamorr asks, "Busy?"

Speaking drunkenly to Evia, Gutstorm says, "Yawnin ish contabush."

Ushakaron deeply says, "I think asking for him to answer a question for a question was reasonable."

Casiphia leans to her left slightly.

Speaking heartily to Lylia, Chamorr says, "Planning yer next coup."

Speaking to Chamorr, Lylia says, "Yes, I am following the hearing quite closely. It matters a great deal to me."

Umbazi says, "Your concern is touching. Answer the questions."

Evia says, "He has the option to not answer, of course."

Ushakaron yells, "Why!"

Yardie says, "I didn't realize there was this much disagreement and friction between they....us...and...."

Umbazi asks, "Unless, of course, your passenger will not allow you to answer?"

Speaking drunkenly to Casiphia, Gutstorm asks, "Heddo, yooz a town clownshil pershon?"

Speaking to Gutstorm, Leafiara says, "She's one of our militia members."

Thadston says, "I closed the portal from the Bleaklands to the Hendoran Outpost, preventing more of the witch's rot to reach the skies. Keeping the spores and death where it belonged."

Speaking slowly to Yardie, Goblyn says, "Maybe that is the... purpose."

Speaking to Yardie, Lylia says, "Normally, there is not."

Speaking drunkenly to Leafiara, Gutstorm says, "Oh, me mishtake."

Pukk yells, "We have nicknamed that ghost "Little Spooky" to make things easier!"

Thadston says, "I was prepared to die for it. For this town."

Thadston says, "For you and the people in the balcony."

Speaking drunkenly to Leafiara, Gutstorm asks, "She a good guy?"

Lylia notes, "Not the first time he was prepared to die for this town. He is not wrong about that."

Speaking heartily to Pukk, Chamorr says, "I like that."

Thadston says, "I did not die. Sometimes we do what we must to survive."

Speaking to Goblyn, Yardie says, "From experience, I'll simply say that it never ends well."

Speaking to Goblyn, Pukk says, "Because he's spooky all by himself."

Umbazi says, "That was when you entered the Bleaklands. Those who knew you before say you have changed quite drastically since then."

Speaking slowly to Yardie, Goblyn asks, "I do think what is 'ends well' does depend on perspective, yes?"

Thadston says, "I have not spoken of the horrors I saw, or the depths I went too, when I was stranded in Kol Tar'sken, one of the Ithzir worlds."

Speaking drunkenly to Goblyn, Gutstorm says, "Me finkin if me sheesh fire inna da shky, den it end well."

Umbazi says, "Then speak now."

Thadston says, "I have chosen not to speak of the horrors of the Bleak."

Thadston says, "But I will tell you, I make my own choices. I continue to defend this town and its people."

Goblyn yells, "I would rather you did speak of them!"

Speaking to Goblyn, Yardie says, "I would disagree. Sometimes that is no clear winner."

Lylia yells, "Actually, not all who knew him then say he has changed."

Casiphia says, "I will speak of them, if he does not."

Goblyn shyly exclaims, "It did just... I could not not say this!"

Lylia asks, "I hope they heard me down there. Did they, do you think?"

Thadston asks, "Who has not changed?"

Speaking approvingly to Casiphia, Leafiara says, "Ah, excellent, thank you."

Thadston says, "Find me a man woman or child who has not changed."

Thadston says, "Go. Hurry."

Chamorr yells, "He aint changed he's always been a SOB!"

Speaking to Goblyn, Lylia says, "I would like him to speak more on those horrors too. So much to learn."

Evia says, "Being a son of a..anything, is neither criminal, nor makes one imcompetent."

Gutstorm says, "Yooz make a da new fren, goot girl."

Thadston says, "Because yes, I have changed."

Speaking to Lylia, Yardie says, "I'd rather not. It can be quite terrifying."

Thadston says, "I am tired."

Umbazi says, "So am I. I'm very tired of your failure to answer."

Thadston says, "Tired of complacency. Tired of allowing enemies to take root and then watch people die when they spread."

Speaking to Goblyn, Goldstr says, "He's been thru da darkest a dark. I donna blame him fer nae speakin of it."

Uskeye says, "Great bastion? cripes."

Thadston says, "I never said I disliked my duty."

(Umbazi looks at him with complete disbelief.)

Thadston says, "The Mayor has declared she disliked me in it."

Speaking drunkenly to Goldstr, Gutstorm says, "Dat nonshensh, me go troo da darkesht ub dark eber time me pashesh out and me can nae member a fing, dat why me no shpeak ub it."

Faerinn yells, "You literally said you had no captains. Make up your mind."

Gutstorm drunkenly says, "Mebe he no member anyfin cuz he posheshed."

Guarrin says, "It's not. I empathize with his situation."

Ushakaron deeply says, "This Umbazi sure thinks a lot of himself. If I were Thadston I might have slapped him upside the head."

Thadston says, "So better yet, Gryphon."

Pukk yells, "Not knowing your dad is nothing to be ashamed of!"

Leafiara yells, "I said no such thing! I said stand down while we resolve your magical problem!"

Umbazi says, "You did say that you had no captains."

Yardie says, "There needs to be alcohol in these hearings. The deliberations tug on one's sanity and sobriety."

Thadston says, "Come back and lecture me when you've felt the cold metal of golden spurs of knighthood."

Thadston says, "Until then..."

Thadston waves his hand in a dismissive gesture.

Casiphia frowns.

Umbazi says, "You seem to have progressed from lack of answers to perjury."

Speaking to Leafiara, Pukk says, "It's good to know that he isn't ashamed of not knowing his dad. He even thinks he is great."

Speaking drunkenly to Pukk, Gutstorm asks, "Whooz hish daddy? whooz YOOZ daddy?"

Thadston says, "The jurisdiction and actions of the Gryphons should be on trial here just as much as me."

Thadston says, "So when you want to answer questions, I will too."

Thadston says, "Until then..."

Thadston glances at Renpaw.

Speaking to Gutstorm, Pukk says, "He's a bastion...he doesn't know his daddy."

Thadston says, "Your list got bigger it seems."

Goblyn says, "He is maybe not very good at answering questions."

Gutstorm drunkenly says, "He ish TO goot at ansherin dem, he doesh lotsha mishrectionsh."

Ushakaron deeply asks, "Who is?"

Leafiara says, "What the Gryphons do privately with privately-raised resources is not a concern, but the marshal's resources come from the town he serves."

Speaking to Renpaw, Umbazi asks, "Can charges of perjury be added to this hearing?"

Ushakaron yells, "It's a hearing!"

Goblyn whispers something to Lylia.

Speaking to Leafiara, Guarrin says, "Correct."

Gutstorm just poured his brandy out on Goblyn!

Evia says, "Our jurisdiction ends where honor, justice, integrity, and all manner of such prevails in full."

Speaking slowly to Ushakaron, Goblyn says, "Thadston. Is not."

Umbazi says, "It seems relevant. You shouldn't lie, even at a hearing."

Guarrin adds, "Requested aid by a citizen of this town."

Renpaw says, "There's been a lot of, false things tonight."

Renpaw chuckles.

Renpaw bows to Umbazi.

Ninth Speaker, Uskeye: "Would it not be in your best interest to allow this ailment to be investigated, to reassure the people you're sworn to protect, if not for any other reason?"

Renpaw yells, "Uskeye!"

Uskeye just climbed down a narrow stairway.

Sweeping his arm outward, Umbazi bows low in a grand fashion before Renpaw.

Uskeye bows to Renpaw.

Umbazi turns away from Thadston, ignoring him.

Speaking drunkenly to Goblyn, Gutstorm says, "Pardon me aim."

Uskeye says, "Your honor."

Lord Umbazi just climbed up a narrow stairway.

Uskeye turns to face Thadston.

Uskeye bows to Thadston.

Uskeye says, "Marshal."

Speaking to Gutstorm, Goblyn complains, "Now I will smell gross until I do have a pile of corpses for rolling in."

Casiphia fidgets.

Evia says, "Aah miss Casiphia."

Ushakaron deeply says, "Does it Leafiara? I am sure Thadston has his own money."

Thadston nods at Uskeye.

Uskeye says, "Firstly let me just say I do appreciate all you've sacrificed for this town, Marshal."

Umbazi says, "Well, I tried."

Speaking drunkenly to Goblyn, Gutstorm says, "We can shtart wif Fadshin."

Uskeye says, "I don't question it."

Uskeye says, "That being said though..."

Uskeye sighs.

Yardie says, "This raised more questions than answers. And Faerinn. The few times we've met, he seemed well. Good person."

Speaking to Umbazi, Lylia says, "I disagree vehemently with your position and with your assertions that he has changed when I see him as very much the same Thadston as ever, but I admire your ability to hone in on your quarry so singlemindedly."

Uskeye says, "I'm pretty sure the folks of this town can think of at LEAST one instance of a person in power being 'afflicted' with some unknown magical malady they didn't want to talk about."

Speaking to Umbazi, Lylia says, "Perhaps that is one of the reasons you object to him so mightily; he is also someone who is single-minded."

Speaking to Yardie, Faerinn asks, "Who? Thadston?"

Casiphia fidgets.

Uskeye asks, "Do you understand why folks could begin to ask questions?"

Speaking to Lylia, Pukk says, "Have you seen that glow about his neck? I don't think he is single-minded at all."

Thadston says, "Yes."

Uskeye says, "Lylia said, and I quote: 'We can all see the azure light surrounding him, but why do we assume it is malign? Why do we assume he is not the one in control of it?'"

Uskeye says, "When asked who you answered to, you answered: 'The people of this town, truthfully.'"

Thing."

Speaking drunkenly to Goblyn, Gutstorm says, "Give Pukk a good whiff, he shmell frooty."

Ushakaron deeply says, "Wish I could get a azure light to hang out with me. However hanging out in the sewers for 4 or 5 weeks a year would probably keep whatever it is away from me."

Speaking to Faerinn, Yardie says, "I don't care for Thadston. But I clearly know what it's like on your end right now."

Lylia says, "Now that is an excellent point."

Uskeye says, "And I know Lylia is up there saying not everyone thinks that, but I've heard many more folks expressing that than not."

Speaking to Goblyn, Pukk says, "Cruxy got that smell for me on my wedding day."

Evia says, "I am uncomfortable with the two separate issues being lumped together, authority, and competency. It all muddles."

Speaking to Yardie, Lylia says, "He is an interesting man."

Speaking to Lylia, Umbazi says, "I just wanted facts, rather than personal attacks and attempts to distract. He refused to provide them."

Speaking to Faerinn, Yardie says, "My answer to all of that is simple: Avoid it. You lot can jump into battle with your weapons raised like turgid.....you get my gist. I'll say away from the action."

Thadston asks, "Perhaps because I find myself in moments of darkness, where I recall nothing? Or where I confuse the world around me for memories of the past?"

Thadston asks, "Perhaps you are alarmed by the fact I sometimes call myself a different name?"

Thadston peers quizzically at Uskeye.

Uskeye chuckles.

Speaking to Evia, Lylia says, "Also an excellent point. Thank you for that; you are quite right. Conflating the two is not serving anyone well."

Casiphia glances at Shinann.

Casiphia frowns.

Thadston says, "That is not me I described."

Thadston says, "That is Captain Shinann."

Speaking to Evia, Leafiara concedes, "Fair. The competency issue is significantly more important and perhaps I should have left it at that."

Uskeye says, "I know you not well enough to judge your humors myself, Marshal."

Shinann sighs.

Shinann offers Stormyrain an etched militia badge.

Stormyrain looks over at Shinann and shakes her head.

Gutstorm drunkenly says, "Maybe he he ish jush al alkahalic too, poor feller."

Speaking to Shinann, Stormyrain says, "I'm not the Marshal. I cannot accept that."

Stormyrain declines Shinann's offer.

Uskeye says, "I'm asking objective questions. I'm not accusing you of any willful misdeed."

Thadston asks, "Do you instead, worry because I profess to be a master of blood magic?"

Lylia fondly says, "I shall have to tell Uskeye that I have a weakness for difficult causes at times."

Thadston asks, "A powerful, dangerous force that has not served this town well?"

Speaking to Faerinn, Yardie says, "If it's any consolation, I don't see you as a "half"."

Evia says, "Simply trying very hard to consider all of it fairly, and it is not easy."

Leafiara comments, "Ahh, obfuscation, lovely."

Uskeye says, "I'm a warrior. I know little of blood magic."

Speaking to Yardie, Faerinn says, "Thank you."

Speaking to Leafiara, Pukk says, "Bless you."

Gutstorm drunkenly asks, "Shinnan kin me shee dat?"

Uskeye says, "I ask for one reason only."

Thadston says, "Or that I seek answers in water, or cards, or clouds, who the hell knows these days."

Thadston says, "That is not me I described."

Thadston says, "That is Captain Stormyrain."

Speaking to Goblyn, Shinann says, "Of course not."

Uskeye says, "Again."

Uskeye says, "Accusations are not needed."

Leafiara says, "Ah, yes, the same criticism of Captain Stormyrain that led to the rise of the Warcats."

Thadston says, "These are facts."

Stormyrain yells, "And I am open about it, answer questions, and do not hide it. Can you say the same?"

Uskeye says, "Hear me out, so that we might be done with this."

Thadston asks, "You are interested in those still, yes?"

Uskeye nods at Thadston.

Leafiara adds, "Which she quickly shut down because she is incredibly effective."

Pukk asks, "Great, isn't it?"

Uskeye says, "Finally."

Uskeye says, "I am a citizen of this town, and I travel a lot. I can only speak to what I've experienced, but I'm not inclined to take the altruistic route with mystery magics affecting people in command. You should come clean with the citizens of this town about what is going on with you, Marshal. If you can't do that, you should step down, to show repect to those you answer to. You sure seem to think those who answer to you should show that level of deference. Thank you."

Thadston says, "Do you fear me, because I openly support the Rooks? Because I murdered their King to become their new ruler?"

Thadston says, "That is not me I described."

Speaking to Yardie, Lylia says, "My dearest friend is half-Faendryl, and I am defending a human man from what I feel are unjust charges. It is offensive to me that anyone would accuse me or the Enclave of being insufficiently accommodating to other races and cultures."

Thadston says, "That is Mayor Leafiara."

Speaking to Faerinn, Yardie says, "No need to thank me. Stay safe, Barrister. I am...not a fighter...but if you need me, you know where to find me."

Uskeye says, "Good gods you run at the mouth, Marshal."

Uskeye shakes his head.

Lylia dryly remarks, "And amusing, as Faendryl have accused me of being too soft-hearted."

Leafiara amusedly says, "Oh, who knew I'm the leader of the Rooks."

Uskeye says, "Your honor, I will take my leave."

Leafiara says, "Certainly not me."

Speaking to Leafiara, Asben asks, "You're a ruler?"

Speaking to Leafiara, Vaemyr asks, "Should I start calling you Mother?"

Uskeye says, "Think about my words, Marshal."

Uskeye bows to Thadston.

Speaking to Vaemyr, Leafiara agrees, "Apparently so."

Speaking to Leafiara, Pukk asks, "You're the leader of the Rooks?"

Thadston asks, "What of disobeying the commands of my subordinate? What of forgetting my oath of duty and taking arms against those I've been commanded to stand down from?"

Speaking heartily to Leafiara, Chamorr says, "Hey Mom."

Thadston says, "That is not me I described."

Uskeye sighs.

Thadston says, "That is the Silver Gryphons during the Talador War."

Speaking to himself, Pukk mutters, "It all makes sense now.."

Uskeye glances at Renpaw.

Ushakaron deeply says, "He does make some interesting points."

Uskeye glances at Thadston.

Uskeye shakes his head.

Uskeye just climbed up a narrow stairway.

Thadston says, "Perhaps you are concerned...."

Uskeye mutters under his breath.

Thadston nods.

Thadston says, "That's right."

Uskeye says, "What a windbag."

Speaking to Lylia, Yardie asks, "But is that of significance? Would not a disagreement of philosophies be merely of one's thoughts and not ones race?"

Speaking to Leafiara, Pukk exclaims, "So you are Mother then!"

Thadston says, "Take the steps up the stair double at a time. Like your standards."

Evia yells, "Except, we did NOT forget at all, we chose the right of it!"

Casiphia glances at a polished oak railing.

Tenth Speaker, Casiphia: Everybody Loves Thadston

Renpaw yells, "Casiphia!"

Thadston glances at Renpaw.

Speaking to Uskeye, Lylia says, "You have given me a great deal to think about."

Speaking heartily to Pukk, Chamorr says, "You may be on to sumthin there."

Thadston asks, "Didn't she fail to sign the list in time?"

Renpaw exclaims, "Afraid not!"

Speaking to Pukk, Vaemyr says, "Don't tell anyone, Thadston's actually mother."

Speaking to Leafiara, Yardie says, "Mother Mayor? Sounds like a curse word."

Speaking amusedly to Goblyn, Leafiara says, "Yes, let's stick to just Mayor."

Casiphia nods at Stormyrain.

Faerinn yells, "You afraid of her testimony Thadston?"

Casiphia slowly empties her lungs.

Lady Casiphia just climbed down a narrow stairway.

Umbazi says, "Oh, this should be interesting."

Speaking to Stormyrain, Pukk says, "I have? I have seen a couple of Pukk's running around once trying to kill people too."

Goldstr yells, "Our Oath be first to da Landin Sir Andrews nae da Empire!"

Thadston coldly says, "This is a sham of a trial. Of a hearing. Whatever madness this is."

Speaking to Goldstr, Guarrin says, "There is little point arguing that point with him, it seems."

Thadston glares.

Umbazi yells, "It's a hearing."

Vaemyr says, "He's rattled again."

Speaking to Stormyrain, Pukk says, "But now we know Leafi is Mother. So it's all sorted out now."

Casiphia asks, "Do you hear me?"

Casiphia peers quizzically at Thadston.

Thadston says, "Yes."

Casiphia says, "Not you."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Faerinn says, "Doesn't take much really."

Yardie says, "I've seen that look before. This won't end well."

Evia says, "Don't make me angry, you wouldn't like me when I'm angry...."

Yardie says, "Not well."

Umbazi says, "Oh ho..."

Faerinn yells, "She means your passenger!"

Yardie says, "I have much to think about."

Speaking heartily to Evia, Chamorr says, "But yer soooo cute when ya angry."

Speaking to Faerinn, Stormyrain says, "I think she means Thadston, the passenger is already speaking."

Casiphia says, "Stormyrain has endured quite a lot. She still would die for you, fight for you."

Speaking drunkenly to Evia, Gutstorm says, "Yer alwaysh cute."

Casiphia says, "We all would."

Pukk says, "Leafi is Mother, Gryphons are Rooks. The mutt and kitten living in peace..."

Casiphia says, "Shinann, the Mayor, Lylia, Ysharra, maybe even Faerinn still."

Casiphia asks, "Which one bothers you the most?"

Speaking idly to Pukk, Leafiara reminds, "Future Leafi, of course."

Speaking to Pukk, Evia says, "Mutt and kitten are counter-intelligence agents."

Speaking to Bernadette, Pukk says, "All this time, you didn't tell me you were a rook."

Speaking drunkenly to Felita, Gutstorm says, "Yooz cute tooz."

Thin motes of azure light begin to circle around Thadston's hands.

Faerinn says, "The light again..."

Casiphia says, "Stay put, whore."

Bernadette softly says, "Simmer down now."

Evia exclaims, "Well!"

Gutstorm drunkenly says, "She shay a bad werd."

Faerinn yells, "Drag her Casi!"

Yardie says, "I must admit this. The Enclave has one amazing defense team. The oratory skills. Wow."

Thadston hisses.

Casiphia moves to stand in front of Renpaw.

Sareyna says, "Duh it's all about that wandering priestess people ...always has been."

Casiphia looks up to the balcony.

Casiphia says, "I love Thadston."

Gutstorm drunkenly asks, "Do we need to protect Renpaw or he gun be dokay?"

Stormyrain just climbed down a narrow stairway.

Speaking suddenly to Gutstorm, Leafiara says, "...not a bad question."

Casiphia nods at Stormyrain.

Stormyrain nods at Casiphia.

Imperatrix Lylia just climbed down a narrow stairway.

Stormyrain says, "I also love Thadston."

Thadston glances at Stormyrain.

Pukk says, "Casiphia sounds really controlling...I think I like her more now."

Gutstorm drunkenly asks, "He has 2 loversh now?"

Speaking to Thadston, Stormyrain asks, "You are my friend. And have been for years. How could there not be love there?"

Renpaw asks, "I also love Thadston?"

Yardie says, "I think I should take my leave."

Leafiara tentatively says, "This suddenly took a turn."

Stormyrain folds her hands behind her back.

Guarrin admits, "I wasn't expecting that."

Speaking to Yardie, Thrassus asks, "So soon?"

Vaemyr says, "Oh Renpaw..."

Umbazi asks, "Wait, what?"

Gutstorm drunkenly says, "Yeah...."

Pukk asks, "Stormy loves Thadston?"

Lylia quietly says, "Inasmuch as I have room for it, I hold Thadston in high regard. Respect borne of years of working together...I suppose it is a kind of love."

Gutstorm drunkenly says, "Dont tell Cay."

Casiphia says, "That hurt. I bet."

Casiphia nods at Lylia.

Casiphia chuckles.

Leafiara explains, "I'm pretty sure they're just provoking the magic..."

Stormyrain tilts her head up.

Bernadette softly says, "Indeed."

Speaking to Gutstorm, Pukk asks, "Thadston is Chaos?"

Casiphia moves to stand in front of Renpaw.

Casiphia looks up at the balcony.

Speaking quietly to Goblyn, Raelee asks, "Is there an operating theory that the presence reacts to the emotion directed at him?"

Faerinn says, "Killed the mood Lylia."

Casiphia says, "Thadston is not well."

(Lylia doesn't say anything, but her expression becomes just a little stonier, if that's possible.)

Thadston inches closer to Casiphia.

Speaking drunkenly to Pukk, Gutstorm says, "Im sho confuzzled right now."

Speaking to Thrassus, Yardie says, "Soon? I have a treehouse to attend to, lest the two Vaalor decide to consecrate their bond whilst I sleep."

Leafiara quietly says, "Yeah, don't we know it."

Evia says, "Err."

Umbazi says, "It didn't respond to me at all, so no, I don't think it responds to emotion."

Speaking to Raelee, Goblyn says, "It is reacting to different things in this night, with purpose aimed at it in some times already. This is a... new purpose."

Vaemyr says, "We been saying that all night..."

Speaking to Umbazi, Leafiara says, "It only seems to respond to ladies, regardless..."

Leafiara adds, "Even ladies with no interest in men."

Speaking drunkenly to Leafiara, Gutstorm says, "Yer losh."

Vaemyr says, "Sexist that little thing is."

Shinann just climbed down a narrow stairway.

Casiphia says, "He died in the Bleaklands. He believes it is his wife. His wife that holds him together, that saved him. That gives him life."

Yardie says, "Ladies with no interest in......"

Evia asks, "Someone want to give the Captain down there a bit of backup, just in case of excess energy erupting?"

Lylia touches Shinann.

Yardie exclaims, "Oh!"

Pukk asks, "They likes cats then?"

Leafiara surprisedly asks, "Wait, what?"

Casiphia says, "She has spoken to me, even now she does."

Umbazi says, "Oh, Koar's beard, this isn't going to end well."

Thadston inches closer to Casiphia.

Speaking slowly to Raelee, Goblyn notes, "It is is still baiting. Just it is... a different bait."

Casiphia turns to face Thadston.

Stormyrain says, "She has spoken to me as well."

Casiphia says, "I SAID BACK WHORE."

Greenish-black flames spring to life in Lylia's hand...

Thrassus says, "Well, that is interesting."

Yardie says, "You can keep your relationship....."

Lylia coldly says, "I would not."

Gutstorm drunkenly exclaims, "Leafi go hit em wif shum holy wata!"

Lylia shakes her head.

Felita says, "Me fears I was rite."

Goblyn whispers something to Raelee.

Vaemyr says, "If he died there... everything would add up."

Pukk says, "My knees are getting a little weak just listening to her."

Casiphia snatches two daggers from her baldric and points them at Thadston's chest.

Leafiara says, "No, I believe they've got things quite under contro--"

Casiphia says, "Or I will cut you out of him myself."

Yardie says, "I think Madame Lylia is going to set someone ablaze."

Evia says, "Err."

Leafiara suddenly says, "On second thought."

Vaemyr says, "Ummm..."

Renpaw exclaims, "No blood no blood no blood!"

Gutstorm drunkenly says, "Dish not gonna end well at all."

Guarrin yells, "Back up, Thadston!"

Pukk yells, "Blood!"

Umbazi asks, "He looks...amused?"

Speaking to Renpaw, Lylia says, "There are ways of making it bloodless..."

Pukk yells, "Do it!"

Thadston glances at Stormyrain.

Thadston coldly says, "This is a farce."

Thadston coldly says, "Weakness. All of you. Failures."

Lylia says, "You were supposed to be his eyes, not his mind."

Guarrin says, "If not his wife, who has he made a bargain with...or what."

Mayor Leafiara just climbed down a narrow stairway.

[so, again, at this point we lose whatever's going on upstairs]

Speaking to Thadston, Stormyrain says, "You are my friend. And you have been my Marshal. You are not this."

Shinann shakes her head.

From up on a narrow stairway, you hear Yardie yell, "Err, not that I'm one to yell, but you realize that if he's killed, this will only worsen."

(Leafiara moves to stand in front of the modwir arch leading out.)

From up on a narrow stairway, you hear Umbazi yell, "A man of law should not consider law a farce!"

Lylia glances up.

Lylia nods once.

Barrister Faerinn just climbed down a narrow stairway.

Leafiara glances expectantly around the room.

Speaking to Thadston, Stormyrain murmurs, "Fight this."

Leafiara takes a moment to observe Thadston.

Speaking in Faendryl, Lylia says something you don't understand.

Speaking in Faendryl, Lylia says something you don't understand.

(Lylia gestures up at the balcony.)

Thadston turns to Stormyrain, "You weren't worth it to Altheorn." He turns to Lylia, "You weren't worth it to Silvean." He turns to Shinann, "You weren't worth it to your father." He turns to Casiphia last, "You weren't worth it to Disean, or myself. Or your sister. You failed her and you'll never fix that."

Thadston spits and scowls.

Lylia raises her voice in merry laughter.

Lord Thadston just went through an oak door.

Leafiara stares off into space.

Lylia glances between a ruby and silver wedding band and a dark glaes band forged into a duo of spiraled horns worn on the left ring finger.

Leafiara slowly says, "Well then."

Renpaw says, "Well then...."

Renpaw nods.

Leafiara nods in agreement at Renpaw.

Shinann sighs.

Lylia touches Casiphia.

Casiphia slowly empties her lungs.

From up on a narrow stairway, you hear Pukk yell, "Yep! He doesn't sound right in the head for sure!"

Speaking to Casiphia, Lylia asks, "Do you have to deal with this from it all the time?"

Stormyrain nods respectfully at Casiphia.

Leafiara gives Casiphia a strong, encouraging smile.

Casiphia says, "Yes."

Leafiara nods slowly at Casiphia.

Casiphia says, "He is a danger to himself."

Leafiara murmurs, "That must be trying."

Leafiara slowly empties her lungs.

Faerinn sighs.

Stormyrain dusts herself off.

Stormyrain quietly says, "Pardon me a moment."

Stormyrain's group just climbed up a narrow stairway.

Lylia quietly says, "I am sorry."

Casiphia says, "He has told me so little of what happened."

Lylia glances at Renpaw.

Speaking quietly to Renpaw, Leafiara concludes, "...the judgment is of course yours."

Casiphia says, "Once, in his nightmares, he called her a Bleakwalker."

Speaking to Renpaw, Lylia asks, "I hardly know what to say at this point. Unprecedented, I believe, was your word?"

Speaking sincerely to Casiphia, Leafiara says, "Thank you for what you've done for our town tonight."

Speaking to Casiphia, Faerinn asks, "The Bleak does things to you...A Bleakwalker?"

Renpaw shakes his head.

Casiphia says, "I have known him in more ways than anyone else can."

Leafiara nods slowly at Casiphia.

Casiphia says, "He has been reckless at times, but still in control."

Casiphia says, "Even when we were far and wide hunting Raznel."

Casiphia says, "This is different."

Shinann just climbed up a narrow stairway.

Faerinn nods at Casiphia.

Casiphia says, "I fear part of him wants this."

Lylia says, "Part of him believes this to be some aspect of his wife somehow."

Casiphia says, "The last thing he said to me before we...took some time away, if you will, was "She was all he had left."."

Lylia explains, "Faith is a sickness. I now see that, having been afflicted with faith, he is unwell."

Leafiara ruefully says, "...I hope we can salvage him."

Lylia says, "I have no intention of letting him out of his responsibilities this easily."

Lylia sets her mouth in a thin line of disapproval.

Renpaw says, "What...an interesting night."

Lylia lets out a long, contemplative breath.

Leafiara nods in agreement at Renpaw.

Speaking to Renpaw, Faerinn says, "Again apologies."

Speaking to Casiphia, Lylia says, "He is welcome to stay within the Spire. You are welcome, as ever, to come and go as you see fit there."

Renpaw says, "But, I must be off! I shall review all which was shared tonight, and transpired...and I shall announce my decision in the next night or two."

Speaking to Renpaw, Leafiara says, "Thank you as well for... aiding on this challenging night."

Leafiara nods appreciatively at Renpaw.

Renpaw nods.

Lylia whispers something to Casiphia.

Leafiara curtsies gracefully to Renpaw.

Speaking to Renpaw, Lylia says, "Thank you."

Renpaw exclaims, "Goodnight!"

Leafiara turns toward Renpaw and renders a sharp hand salute.

Renpaw asks, "I too love Thadston?"

Renpaw rechuckles at his joke.

Leafiara grins.

Renpaw snickers.

Lord Renpaw just went through a modwir arch.

Challenging Times

[Moot Hall, Observation Balcony]

Several rows of hardwood benches line the balcony, each row a bit higher than the previous one in order to provide a view of the proceedings below from every seat. A polished oak railing forms the front barrier of the viewing area, and a narrow stairway leads down. You also see the Asben disk, a green-eyed grey and white kitten, the Chandrellia disk, some salty popcorn, a brilliant purple kitten wearing a purple collar clasped with a pair of crossed silver swords, the Yardie disk and the Guarrin disk.

Also here: Mayor Leafiara, Shinann, Stormyrain, Lord Umbazi, Lord Asben, Lady in Waiting Chandrellia, Lord Chamorr, Sareyna, Xorus, Tolene, Vaemyr, Grand Lady Shyspirit, Melikor who is sitting, Goldstr who is sitting, Lord Thrassus, Donnod, Grand Lord Mongonator, Dame Evia, Miss Goblyn, High Lord Gutstorm, Maerit, Leineshan, Galenblackbard, Lord Lycurgus, Bernadette, Yardie who is sitting, Pukk, Magister Raelee, Yukito who is sitting, Guarrin, Sewer Scamp Ushakaron

Leafiara slowly says, "Well."

Vaemyr says, "Well."

Vaemyr says, "I'm happy no blood was spilled for once."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Goblyn says, "It is blood of another kind, I do think."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Yardie says, "I'm always hapy for that."

Casiphia nods.

Lylia whispers something to Casiphia.

Casiphia nods at Lylia.

Lady Casiphia just climbed up a narrow stairway.

Sareyna says, "I asm rather disappointed if only for Goblyn's sake."

Goldstr says, "Well now a lot to ponder."

Leafiara says, "Thank you to all who came and spoke, or even came simply to observe."

Pukk says, "A lot came out tonight. Leafi is Mother, Gryphons are Rooks, Stormy is in love with Thaddy...wow. A lot to take in."

Speaking abruptly to Casiphia, Goblyn declares, "You are very interesting, Casiphia."

Casiphia grins at Goblyn.

Speaking lightly to Pukk, Leafiara asks, "Oh, you'll never let any of this go now, will you?"

Speaking to Goblyn, Raelee asks, "You have found your observations worthwhile this evening, then?"

Casiphia says, "I will accept that as a compliment."

Casiphia nods at Goblyn.

Speaking mischievously to Leafiara, Pukk says, "Never."

Speaking to Casiphia, Guarrin says, "Thank you for sharing. I imagine this has been trying."

Speaking agreeably to Casiphia, Leafiara encourages, "You should."

Speaking to Raelee, Goblyn says, "It does leave for some more questions, but they are... different now."

Speaking to Casiphia, Faerinn says, "Be careful out there. Especially on those rooftops."

Faerinn grins at Casiphia.

Pukk says, "Next thing I will find out is Goblyn and Raelee are sisters."

Casiphia nods at Faerinn.

Gutstorm drunkenly says, "Goblyn hash better hair den Raelee."

Casiphia says, "I hope the Judge does what is right."

Speaking to Pukk, Raelee says, "I do not have a sister."

Speaking to Goblyn, Pukk says, "After tonight. Anything is possible."

Lylia asks, "What do you feel is right?"

Speaking slowly to Pukk, Goblyn says, "I do not think this is possible, Pukk."

Yardie says, "And to think, the biggest concern I had was the Dhe'nar soceress that is probably all sorts of trouble but is yet quite attractive."

Casiphia says, "We have to have this behind us, if we're to help him."

Leafiara says, "And vice versa."

Speaking to Casiphia, Lylia says, "He is not the first Town Marshal to be afflicted with a kind of curse."

Casiphia says, "If the Bleakwalker exists in him, he is a danger."

Casiphia nods at Lylia.

Faerinn says, "If only he would accept help."

Thrassus says, "I didn't know that had the ability to posess folk."

Casiphia says, "Because he is not the first, does not negate the fact a liability exists."

Speaking to Casiphia, Lylia says, "Someone must still fulfill that role. It was a temporary appointment, and now we need a temporary temporary appointment."

Xorus says, "Thadston is the interim marshal. When we mend Thrayzar, he can resume his duties."

Thrassus asks, "Perhaps they can only inhabit corpses and not living beings?"

Leafiara muses, "It all depends... perhaps--"

Speaking to Guarrin, Evia asks, "Did you hear the one about Pukk is actually the little flower girl, except for three days a week when he is a double agent for the organization that cannot be spoken of out loud?"

Leafiara nods at Xorus.

Speaking to Bernadette, Pukk exclaims, "Have fun with the Rooks!"

Faerinn says, "I was wondering if he was still Interim Marshall."

Speaking to Evia, Guarrin says, "Yes, I'm aware."

Speaking heartily to Pukk, Chamorr says, "You should be Marshal."

Speaking baffledly to Pukk, Goblyn asks, "You... are the flower girl?"

Speaking to Evia, Pukk exclaims, "I am not a little flower girl. I'm a big flower girl!"

Faerinn says, "Records aren't always the best."

Vaemyr says, "Best we can do is try to mitigate the dangers to himself and others, and try as best we can to give him the help he needs... while of course dealing with all these new threats to our town that keep popping up..."

Vaemyr says, "We're gonna be busy."

Speaking to Goblyn, Pukk says, "Only on my off times."

Casiphia asks, "He is still interim?"

Goblyn whispers something to Pukk.

Speaking to Goblyn, Pukk says, "Other times, I'm a giantkin and then I'm a dark elf."

Casiphia says, "I cannot keep track of frontier politics."

Speaking to Goblyn, Pukk says, "Why, thank you."

Leafiara says, "Ideally, setting to work curing his affliction would be--no, I can't even finish that sentence. These things are never quick or easy."

Speaking amusedly to Casiphia, Cruxophim informs, "No one can."

Speaking to Casiphia, Faerinn says, "If you don't know I don't think there is any hope."

Speaking to Casiphia, Leafiara agrees, "He is, yes."

Speaking amusedly to Casiphia, Goblyn says, "It is always in... disagreements and too much talking. That is all that you do need to be knowing, I think, of this politics."

Xorus says, "It is within my power to break Thrayzar's curse. But Stone will surely come the instant we have him."

Casiphia says, "I am exhausted. Goodnight everyone. Please do not give up on him."

Speaking to Xorus, Pukk says, "That sounds fun."

Lylia says, "I never have."

Speaking to Leafiara, Vaemyr says, "There's one person I could think could 'cure' him but... that's a bad idea."

Leafiara agrees, "Never."

Speaking to Casiphia, Faerinn says, "He makes it so damn hard."

Speaking affably to Goblyn, Cruxophim inquires, "Shadows?"

Speaking to Lylia, Vaemyr says, "Stone."

Casiphia says, "Kindness is never easy."

Casiphia nods at Faerinn.

Casiphia waves.

Faerinn groans.

Lady Casiphia just climbed down a narrow stairway.

Discussion Afterward

Lylia says, "It is not kindness; it is justice."

Leafiara earnestly says, "Thank you again to all who came, and rest well. I know it's been a long and, well, incredible night."

Leafiara adds, "In the worst sense of the word."

Pukk says, "You sexy death person you."

Speaking to Leafiara, Lylia asks, "If you appoint a bloody Rook, I shall never let you hear the end of it. You know that, yes?"

Yardie says, "Off to the lust fest that is the treehouse."

Speaking lightly to Lylia, Leafiara says, "I know, and that won't happen."

Yardie says, "Rather have nerdum vereri haunting me in my sleep than those two Vaalor."

Leafiara remarks, "Appointing Rooks is Puptilian's job."

Speaking to Leafiara, Pukk says, "She said a bloody Rook. You can appoint a clean Rook then."

Speaking to Pukk, Thrassus says, "No such thing."

Speaking in Faendryl, Lylia says something you don't understand.

Speaking in Faendryl, Lylia says something you don't understand.

Lylia says, "I have also not forgotten that Malluch Burdos owes this town another twenty-eight years."

Speaking drunkenly to Chandrellia, Gutstorm says, "Oh afore me fergitsh."

Gutstorm takes quick aim at Chandrellia and pulls the silver lever on the monir water cannon!

With a click and a fast *WHOOSH*, a torrent of water flies out of the cannon toward Chandrellia! Gutstorm's aim is off and the spray goes wide, landing with a splat on the ground next to her!

Gutstorm cackles!

Gutstorm drunkenly exclaims, "Damn!"

Gutstorm drunkenly says, "Me mished."

Chandrellia softly asks, "Oh really?"

Speaking in Faendryl to Lylia, Melikor says something you don't understand.

Lylia says, "It would appear so."

Speaking to Xorus, Lylia says, "Good thing that Bleakwalker only mentioned one husband."

Xorus says, "I still do not see the problem."

Speaking to Xorus, Lylia says, "Me neither."
