Whirling Dervish is a combat maneuver available to Warriors and Rogues.
__NOTOC__
Description
This is a Martial Stance. The combatant gains the ability to switch with relative ease between targets when making multiple melee attacks. When making a focused MSTRIKE or a two-weapon attack that slays the combatant's targeted creature foe, there is a chance to switch the remaining attacks to another foe in the room. This chance is 5% + 25% per rank.
Vanish is a combat maneuver available to rogues which allows the rogue to hide with no roundtime, or while in roundtime.

This hasty attempt comes with a penalty to the hide check of 10*(3 - Ranks) + 15*(Armor Group - 1).

You immediately attempt to hide with 0 RT. At rank 2, you are able to hide while in 5 seconds or less of RT. At rank 3, you can hide while in any amount of RT.

The attempts to vanish are subjected to the same restrictions as a normal attempt to hide.

Stamina costs
If currently in roundtime (RT), an additional penalty of 1 stamina point per second of RT remaining is applied (per 2 seconds of RT if Shadow Mastery is active). The stamina cost for this skill is capped at 75.

Each attempt from the open will cost stamina, but once the rogue is in hiding accidentally attempting the maneuver again will not result in a stamina reduction.

There is no cooldown period because the stamina costs are prohibitory enough to keep players from using this ability consistently.

The True Strike combat maneuver increases the chance to hit a target for one swing. At Rank 1, True Strike changes the standard attack d100 roll to 20 + d80 and reduces the target's chances of evading, parrying, and/or blocking your attack by 10%. Each additional rank adds 10 to the combat roll (d80, d70, d60, d50, d40) and reduces the opponent's evasion, parry, and blocking ability by a further 10%. A True Strike is one second faster than a traditional attack.

Stamina costs
Additional stamina costs are determined by the Base Weapon Speed of your attack. A stamina penalty of +1 per second of base speed is applied for each second under 5 and +2 for each second over 5. For two weapon combat, an effective Base Weapon Speed is calculated by taking the primary weapon's base speed, adding half the secondary weapon's base speed (rounded up), and adding 1 to the result.
On slight successes, the target will be knocked off balance (a roundtime penalty). On more substantial successes, the target will be knocked down with roundtime. All successful results can inflict minor critical damage to the legs and/or trigger weapon flares.
The combat maneuver, sweep, is a skill that allows a character to kick the legs out from under a target, knocking them to the ground. Sweep is available through the Rogue Guild as well as the Combat Maneuvers List.

Rogue Guild Tasks
To train in sweep through the rogue guild, various tasks must be completed to earn points towards gaining a rank. These tasks include sweeping a fellow guild member, being swept by a guild member, practicing with a footpad, sweeping a dummy, sweeping the guild, and sweeping hostile creatures. These tasks are always given in the same order unless a task is traded in or a new rank is gained, though the dummies task is sometimes skipped.
<blockquote>
;Sweeping a Fellow Guild Member
;Being Swept by a Guild Member
;Practicing with a Master Footpad
;Sweeping a Dummy
;Sweeping the Guild
Take a broom and a bag from the tool rack and sweep the courtyard of whichever guild you're in. Hunt for that scattered dust and start pushing your broom around to collect it into a pile. When you finish pushing the broom, simply get the pile. You can get 1 to 3 pushes of your broom into a pile for each room of dust. Then, when your bag has enough dirt in it to give the message "<TT>The bag is full of dirt.</TT>" which isn't necessarily completely full, put it in the bin next to the tool rack. Getting the bag to this point takes approximately eight "pushes" of the broom. Each time the bag is filled and emptied is one repetition.
This task gives 5 points--10 on Guild Nights or if you use a GUILD BOOST (sub-class PROFESSION).

;Sweeping Hostile Creatures
Go out to hunting grounds and sweep creatures. Your own level or higher seems to work fine, but any creature more than 6 levels below your own will not count for guild tasks. This task gives 15 points--30 on Guild Nights or if you use a GUILD BOOST (sub-class PROFESSION).
With the Sunder Shield combat maneuver, the attacker attempts to break or disarm a target's shield. This results in roundtime, forced stance, and the loss of the ability to block.
Magical shields will not shatter, but their holder will temporarily lose their ability to block.

Subdue is a Rogue Guild skill and a Combat Maneuver that allows a rogue to take a weapon, preferably a small blunt weapon, and beat someone over the back of the head with it, possibly stunning or paralyzing the target with a chance of driving them to their knees. Subdue costs a large amount of stamina and creatures that wear armor that covers the head have a high chance of avoiding the attack, therefore limiting the usefulness of this maneuver. There is no weapon requirement for characters that have trained to be unarmed specialists.

Smaller weapons increase the chances of success while the enemy wearing head protection reduce the chances of success. If a character is wearing double leathers, the head is considered to be covered by soft leather armor, while a character wearing metal breastplate is considered to have chainmail armor on their head. The higher the level of protection, the harder the target is to subdue. Also, training in Ambush and Combat Maneuvers increases the attacker's chance of success.
__NOTOC__
Silent Strike
If the Rogue has learned at least rank 3 of Silent Strike, he or she will attempt to remain hidden when performing the Cutthroat or Subdue maneuvers.

<prelog2>
[Roll result: 150 (open d100: 78)]
You hear a rustle of motion behind you and you are quickly delivered a blow to your head!
You feel paralyzed and are driven to your knees!
</pre>

Tasks
Gaining ranks in all of the Rogue Guild skills requires the completion of numerous tasks. In some skills, the tasks are always in a certain order or always give the same amount of points to gain a rank. However, tasks given for Subdue are not in any particular order.

;Smashing Garlic
:Likely the easiest of the tasks, next to the mannequins. There is a series of steps that must be done before you can subdue the garlic, such as cleaning the block and placing a new clove on it. Once succeeding in smashing the garlic properly, one must place the garlic in the pot.

;Subdue Mannequins
:Put a melon on the mannequin's spike to give it a head then hit the melon without breaking it. The goal of this task is to put a dent in the melon without cracking or breaking it, and initially, doing so may require a number of attempts. As a character gains more skill, this task becomes easier and easier.

;Critter Repetitions
:This task usually takes a rather long time to complete due to the large amount of stamina that Subdue requires. Choosing a critter that does not wear armor is advised, as any head protection will reduce the chances of succeeding significantly.

;Cleaning the Windows
:Just grab a rag from the store room and wipe the windows in the guild. Ta'Illistim has 7 windows, all other guilds have 5. If one has more than 5-10 repetitions, try going between guilds, as you have to wait about eight to ten minutes between repetitions within the same guild. If one is in Ta'Illistim, Ta'Vaalor, Kharam Dzu, or River's Rest, it would be better to wait within the guild or briefly finding something else to do due to the time required to travel to another town. It is advised to perform these tasks in Solhaven, Icemule Trace, or Wehnimer's Landing because of this.
}}

Stun Maneuvers is a Rogue Guild skill that was also released into the Combat Maneuvers system for use by Warriors and Monks. It allows the user to perform various actions while stunned.
__TOC__

The Different Maneuvers
The various maneuvers generally won't see too much use. The maneuvers that'll likely see the most use is STAND, MOVE, and STANCE2. MOVE is likely the most useful when stunned as it involves removing the character from a potentially fatal situation, where using STANCE2 won't help much. However, in a crowded hunting area, MOVE might put you in more danger you were originally in. STAND is required before the character is capable of moving, if she is not already standing. STANCE2 will be useful to characters not in a defensive stance already and where MOVE is not practical due to the crowding of the hunting area.

SHIELD and WEAPON are only useful if the character is stunned when she is unprepared for a fight (IE, no weapon or shield in her hands) and GET is useful if a creature stuns you and disarms you, which is a maneuver possessed by some canine type creatures. ATTACK can have its uses if you're stunned in an offensive stance and there is only one creature in the room, it gives the attacking character a chance to stun the creature present. However, the character will see a penalty to attack strength due to the fact that she is stunned, and she will also see increased roundtime as compared to a normal attack.
STANCE1 becomes obsolete once a character learns STANCE2.
Training in Stun maneuvers
Training in Stun maneuvers takes a number of completions of the following tasks, unless one simply chooses to train in the skill via the CMAN verb.

Maneuver ||Width=60| Rank Acquired || Description
SHIELD || 1 || Ready a worn shield
WEAPON || 10 || Ready a weapon
GET || 20 || Retrieve something
STAND || 32 || Stand from a prone position
STANCE1 || 40 || A 20% stance increase
ATTACK || 50 || Attack an opponent
STANCE2 || 60 || A 40% stance increase
MOVE || 63 || Move to an adjacent room
Spending CMAN Points
There are 5 ranks of training, like most other CMANs, when training using CMAN points. The first rank costs 2 CMAN points and gives you the SHIELD and WEAPON maneuvers. The second rank costs 4 points and gives you the GET maneuver. The third rank costs 6 points and gives you the STAND and STANCE1 maneuvers. The fourth rank costs 8 points and gives you the STANCE2 and ATTACK maneuvers. The final rank costs 10 points and gives you the MOVE maneuver.

Rogue Guild Training
Training in the Rogue Guild requires the trainee to be of the Rogue profession. Access to the Rogue Guild allows rogues to train in this skill without the use of CMAN points, leaving the points available for other Combat Maneuvers, such as Surge of Strength or Shadow Mastery, two maneuvers that nearly any rogue would find useful, if they participate in combat.
<blockquote>
Windows
There are 5 windows in each guild, except Ta'Illistim's, which has 7. Rub them while carrying a soft rag from the tool rack, also located in each guild. When you're finished, put the rag back, get another task... or if you have more than 5 repetitions, wait ten minutes before you can rub the windows again.<br>This task gives 5 points.

Sweep the guild
Probably the most time consuming of stun maneuvers tasks. You will receive anywhere from 4 to 12 repetitions. Take a broom and a bag from the tool rack and sweep the courtyard of whichever guild you're in. Hunt for that scattered dust and start pushing your broom around to collect it into a pile. You can get 1 to 3 pushes of your broom into a pile for each room of dust. Then, when your bag is full, put it in the bin next to the tool rack. Repeat.<br>
This task gives 5 points.

Slap Hands
Rock, paper, scissors, with a slight twist. Instead, you slap, duck, or stop. Slap beats stop, stop beats duck, duck beats slap. All other combinations are ties. The footpads choose at random, so there is no pattern to them. However, if you keep using the same verb over and over, they'll catch on, and keep using the appropriate counter to that verb.<br>
This task gives 12 points.

Dodge Arrows
They're blunt-tipped, so they don't do real damage, they'll just knock you over and cause roundtime. Lean left, lean right, duck, or jump. If they hit you, add another arrow to dodge. Don't try to dodge while you're laying down. That's another arrow you'll have to dodge and a painful one already in your face.<br>
This task gives 12 points.

Self Stuns
Take something that stuns you, stun yourself, and use your latest maneuver. Methods of self stun include stunning skulls (15 second stuns), skull-pommeled weapons (30 second stuns), stunning chokers (30 second stuns), or Guild Master's Special (random duration stun). The best one is a stunning choker, it is worn so you can do multiple reps for shield, weapon, and get. A close second is the stunning skulls, as you have the shortest wait before you can use the maneuver. A tip: Try to time the maneuver towards the end of the stun. The closer to the end of the stun, the higher your chances of succeeding in using the maneuver.<br>
This task gives 10 points.

Footpad-aided stuns
As above, except the master stuns you for you. Expect numerous kicks to the groin, bottles/bricks over the head, knees to the stomach, and the like. Each time the master stuns you, it lasts for about 30 seconds.<br>
This task gives 14 points.
</blockquote>

Penalties
Stun Maneuvers effectiveness decreases if the user has a low Discipline stat, or if the character is severely stunned. An eight round stun is generally the threshold for severe reduction in success. High endrolls on stunning spells such as Mind Jolt also tend to rend Stun Maneuvers unusable.<br>
*For two weapon combat, an effective Base Weapon Speed is calculated by taking the primary weapon's base speed, adding half the secondary weapon's base speed (rounded up), and adding 1 to the result.
*For two weapon combat, an effective Base Weapon Speed is calculated by taking the primary weapon's base speed, adding half the secondary weapon's base speed (rounded up), and adding 1 to the result.

Description
Attempt to use the unnatural energy of your ensorcelled or anti-magical weapon to sever a spell away from your target. It is easier to sever a spell away from a heavily spelled up target than it is from a lightly spelled up one (base -25 penalty to success, reduced by +1 per magical spell/effect on the target). This is mentally taxing, requiring a recovery period of 60 seconds, minus 6 seconds per rank.

If the spell is a beneficial spell that may be cast upon others, a remnant of it can be stolen. A stolen spell will only last for 30 seconds (or less, if the spell had less than 30 seconds remaining already).
Spell Cleaving is a combat maneuver available to warriors and monks that attempts to use the unnatural energy of an ensorcelled or anti-magical weapon to cleave away a spell from a target. It is easier to cleave a spell away from a heavily spelled-up target than it is from a lightly spelled up-one. This is represented by a base -25 penalty to success, reduced by +1 per magical spell/effect on the target.

Spell Cleaving is mentally taxing, requiring a recovery period of 60 seconds, minus 6 seconds per rank. This recovery period occurs after successful and unsuccessful cleaves alike.

With the Shield Charge maneuver, the attacker attempts to run a target down and deliver a solid blow with a shield. The damage it causes tends to be minor, but can result in a target knockdown, stun, and/or forced higher stance. It is a somewhat wild charge, and significant roundtimes can result. If the attacker is unskilled or unlucky, he can end up sprawled on the ground himself.

Shield Charge takes ranks in Shield Use into account and is available through both the Combat Maneuvers (upper table) and Shield Specialization (lower table) systems. There is no advantage to training Shield Charge in one system rather than another, nor is there an advantage to training it in both systems at the same time. The character should use whichever system has points more readily available. (More often than not, that system is Shield Specialization.)

Shield Charge requires the character to have Shield Bash at Rank 2 as a prerequisite. If a character wishes to train in Shield Charge using the Combat Maneuver system, the prerequisite ranks must also be from the Combat Maneuver system. If the character wishes to train it in the Shield Specialization list, the character can train Shield Bash to Rank 2 from either system (but one rank from each will not suffice).

Mystic Strike is a combat maneuver available to monks only that is invoked before making a melee or unarmed combat attack. If the subsequent attack connects, the target takes a penalty to their Target Defense (TD) for ten seconds. The penalty is 2 per rank, plus 1 per 10 points in the endroll success margin of the attack. The latter portion is capped at 20. If the monk has not attacked within 30 seconds of activating Mystic Strike, the ability will fade, unused.

This maneuver is far more appealing as a set-up for a hunting partner's warding attack. It is not nearly as helpful for solo use, as Monks have limited access to powerful warding spells.
A warrior exclusive combat maneuver, Mighty Blow is an attack that briefly reduces the stance of the defender, possibly reducing their ability to defend the attack. It also increases the amount of damage done on a successful hit. Testing indicates the increase is 10% of weapon damage factor per rank (+50% damage factor increase at rank 5).

Use of the combat maneuver costs 5 more stamina if the weapon used is a two-handed weapon or if two weapons are used, for a total cost of 20 stamina. A Mighty Blow is one second faster than a traditional attack.
Internal Power is a combat maneuver available to monks only that allows a monk to repair their body. Each use of this maneuver will heal up to [15 + (5 * Rank)] hitpoints (HP). At rank 5, when at full HP, Internal Power can be used to heal a minor wound. This imparts 10 seconds of roundtime (RT) which can be reduced by 1 second for every 3 ranks of Mental Lore, Transformation.

Obtaining 1 rank is an effective method of keeping up health when hunting glistening cerebralites, where a certain amount of Pain retaliation is inevitable.
The Combat Maneuver Headbutt is used to slam your head into your opponent's head to damage/stun them.
Head protection (including armor, not just armor accessories) that has flares or spikes has a chance to activate when using this maneuver.
The target must be standing to use the Headbutt maneuver. Headbutt uses the height system, so shorter races will have more difficulty using it, and it is unusable against particularly tall targets.
When a character uses the hamstring combat maneuver, they attempt to knock an opponent over by cutting the tendons behind the knee. A successful use of the skill results in a prone opponent with a level 2 wound to the leg. Additionally, if the weapon used has flares, there is a chance that the weapon will flare when the hamstring is successful, thus making feras weapons particularly deadly when combined with hamstring, as this skill bypasses the attack roll system and instead relies on the combat maneuver system. Hamstring takes critical weighting or damage weighting on the weapon used into account.

While, in life, a severed hamstring will cripple the victim, a creature affected by the Hamstring maneuver can still stand up. Though, if Hamstring is used a second time on the same victim, it will sever the leg, preventing the victim from standing again.

The minimum RT for hamstring is 3 seconds.

Since the primary function of hamstring is to bypass the target's armor in order to do highly specific damage to the hamstring muscles, padding, resistances, flares, armor divisors, and the like are all bypassed when the maneuver succeeds.

Having two weapons provides a sizeable bonus to this maneuver, while targeting an enemy with more than two legs provides a penalty.

Garrote is a combat maneuver that is used to strangle an opponent. It rarely fails once the garrote is established. A garrote is one second faster than a traditional attack.

This maneuver can produce considerable roundtimes based on a function of the attacker's skill ranks and the opponent's neck armor. It can be problematic with heavily armored (neck) opponents. There are creatures (undead, made of stone, no neck, etc.) that garrote will be ineffective against. Also size does matter, smaller races may have difficulty with larger opponents.

Valid items are garrote, wire, rope, belt, beltstrap, cord, lanyard, scarf, strap, and tether. Garrote items are divided into 'true' garrotes (garrote & wire) and 'substitute' garrotes, known as strangles, which includes all other valid item names. Any item with these nouns can be used for this maneuver.

Using a strangle rather than a true garrote will increase the attacker's roundtimes slightly. Strangles have a higher damage and repair rate, and a lower major success (death-strangle) rate. Exact stats for each strangle vary from type to type. Strangles will not do neck slash damage on minor successes, but may bruise the target.

Certain spells such as Cloak of Shadows (712) aid in protecting a victim against a garrote attack and can be damaging to the attacker.

To stop a garrote attack before it completes, use the verb GARROTE STOP.

Flurry of Blows is a combat maneuver available to Monks only. It is one of several CMs classified as a Martial Stance. The multi-targeting benefits from this CM are limited to Unarmed Combat System (UCS) JAB attacks.

All martial stance CMs, including Flurry of Blows, have refreshable durations of 4 hours. However, only one martial stance CM may be active at a time. Flurry will remain active until either its duration ends, it is replaced by another martial stance, or the character dies. Flurry of Blows remaining duration is displayed with the SPELL ACTIVE command.

There is a 20 stamina cost at the initial activation or when refreshed. There is no additional stamina cost when used with JAB attacks.

Description
Monks using unarmed combat have the opportunity to freely (no additional RT) make simultaneous JAB attacks against two or three foes. Since Flurry of Blows is a passive ability that essentially runs in the background, there are no additional command requirements.

Syntax
*CMAN FLURRY (not case sensitive) - this will activate the martial stance for the initial 4 hour duration and can also be used to refresh the duration.
Divert is a combat maneuver available to rogues that allows the user to cause a diversion while hidden or invisible, tricking a creature opponent into leaving the room. The user can either divert the opponent in a specific direction, or lure the opponent to a random adjacent room.

An Influence (INF) bonus is directly added to the attack roll and both forest and burghal gnomes receive a bonus for being good ventriloquists. For example, an INF bonus of 10 and an endroll of 135 means that 10 of that endroll was from INF. If INF bonus was 15, all-else-equal, that endroll would be 140.

A 101 endroll will send the target away. Higher endrolls result in longer roundtime.

If the rogue fails the maneuver badly, they may fall out of hiding. Failing by a typical margin will not drop hiding, but it will make successive attempts to Divert the same target harder for a period of time (since it's just not buying the ruse).

Divert will not work against other player characters. Divert is not stance dependent.
Disarm Weapon is a combat maneuver available to all professions. Warriors can also learn this maneuver through the warrior guild, and are more potent at using it when they have mastered it in the guild compared to having rank 5 of it through CMAN training. A weapon is generally required to perform this maneuver. However, warrior guild disarm masters, characters who have trained all 5 ranks of the combat maneuver, and unarmed specialists can attempt to disarm opponents bare-handed.

Using this maneuver will attempt to knock a target's weapon to the ground. It also provides defense against being disarmed, which is the main reason many professions choose to train in this skill.

Using Disarm Weapon against a bard's Sonic Weapon will result in having an additional 3 seconds of roundtime added to the maneuver's base roundtime of 5. Sonic Weapons are immune to disarm.

In the event of an item being disarmed, the Loresong on an item will only show the name of the person disarmed if the item was registered prior to being disarmed.
Success formula
Disarm success is calculated similarly to other CMANs, including level difference, encumbrance, attacker's and defender's disarm ranks and combat maneuvers training. For the defender, each rank in disarm is worth 15 points of defense (Confirmed only for rank 3 to rank 4).

Roundtime
On a successful disarm, the target receives roundtime based on the endroll. For every 4 points of success margin, the target gets one second of roundtime, with a minumum of 5 seconds and a maxiumum of 20 seconds.

Cutthroat is a combat maneuver available to rogues. It allows the rogue to spring from hiding to slit an opponent's throat.

The target will not be able to speak or prepare a spell until they are healed by an empath, eat an appropriate herb, or die. They will only cough up a gob of blood when they attempt either. While Empathic spells can usually be cast regardless of physical damage, cutthroat will prevent an empath from casting all spells, including healing magic, until it is healed. For this reason, Empaths fighting bandits or other enemies that use cutthroat are advised to carry aloeas stem (or another herb that heals major neck wounds).

Mechanics
The following affects the use Cutthroat:
*The attacker must be standing and hidden in order to use the maneuver.
*The attacker must be holding a one-handed edged weapon in order to use the maneuver. Using a dagger will give a +5 bonus; all other OHE weapons will receive a -5 penalty.
*It is possible for the weapon used to flare against the target on a minor or major success.
*The attacker gains a +10 bonus if the target is stunned.
*The target must be corporeal.
*The target may be in any position (standing, sitting, lying down, etc) to execute the maneuver.
*If the height difference between the attacker and target is too large (a human vs a giant, a giantman vs an illoke, or even a gnome vs a human) then the maneuver cannot be performed. The maneuver can always work against a target that is lying down.
*The target's padding, resistances, flares, armor divisors, and the like are all bypassed when the maneuver succeeds.
*The maneuver can be used more than once against the same target. Each major success will increase the bleeding by 4 and will give the target a rank 3 neck injure if it didn't already have one.

There are 4 possible outcomes depending on the end roll result as indicated by maneuver's messaging. Below is a table of the results and how they affect the attacker and target.
style="background-color:lightgrey" | Success Level
style="background-color:lightgrey" | End Roll
style="background-color:lightgrey" | Attacker RT
style="background-color:lightgrey" | Target RT
style="background-color:lightgrey" | Other Effects on Target
Major Failure
< 0
5 sec
0 sec
None
Minor Failure
0 - 100
5 sec
0 sec
None
Minor Success
101 - 124
5 sec
3 sec
Causes 1 point of damage and a rank 1 neck wound.
Major Success
125+
5 sec
3 + (end roll - 120)/5 sec. (max 8)
Cause (endroll - 100)/5 damage and a rank 2 neck wound, bleeding 4 hp/round. Cannot speak (see below)

Only a major success (125+) will prevent the target from speaking. A major success prevents the target from speaking until the neck wound is healed down from rank 2. For creatures, this only means no casting spells but for adventures this affects a larger amount of actions cannot be performed:
*PREPARE or INCANT spells.
*Divert maneuver.
*War Cries.
*Using the ASK verb.

Attempting any of these actions only results in the message: "All you manage to do is cough up some blood." After healing the wound, it will take a few moments to the target to clear their throat before they can act normally.

Creatures that use this maneuver
*Triton executioners
*Bandits

Bugs
The aiming system has trouble figuring out if you can reach the targets throat. This affects attackers of smaller races more than normal sized races.

Example: a forest gnome vs a Fire Salamander that is standing
<pre>
H>appraise salamander
The fire salamander is medium in size and about one foot high in its current state.
The salamander is too easy for the likes of you!

H>cman cutthroat
The salamander's throat is too high to reach!

H>ambush salamander neck
You leap from hiding to attack!
You swing a sharp black glaes knife at a fire salamander!
AS: +136 vs DS: +34 with AvD: +25 + d100 roll: +5 = +132
... and hit for 18 points of damage!
Deft swing strikes the fire salamander's neck.
Maybe not fatal but it's sure distracting.
The fire salamander is stunned!
Roundtime: 4 sec.
</pre>

Crowd Press is a combat maneuver available to rogues, warriors, paladins, and monks. When in use, the character will attempt to maneuver in close to a target, preventing both the character and the target from moving away and performing some actions, increasing attack strength and aiming chance for small, maneuverable weapons, and lowering it for large weapons, ranged weapons, and bolt spells.

While under crowd press, the target cannot hide, move rooms, stand up, or use the Cman charge, Shield Charge, Dust Shroud or Bull Rush combat maneuvers.

Weapons with a base weapon speed of 3 or less will see benefits from use with this maneuver.
Cheapshots, as the name implies, are various "cheap" maneuvers to allow one an advantage in combat. The cheap shot can be anything from tweaking an opponents nose to a swift chop to the throat to silence a spell caster. The most notable of the cheapshots are the "swiftkick" and "kneebash" maneuvers, though since these maneuvers are normally mastered by rogues through the Rogue Guild, the change to Ambushing since IV made the swiftkick portion of Cheapshots nearly obsolete, as both reduce an opponent's defensive stance. However, since Cheapshots can be utilized by Bards or can reduce the stance for an ally of a Cheapshots master, swiftkick is not completely forgotten by all users of this skill.

This maneuver takes into account the attacker's skill in ambushing. It also uses the same height system as the AMBUSH verb.

Characters that have trained to be unarmed specialists are not required to use a weapon with any cheapshot maneuver that would normally require one. These include templeshot, kneebash or throatchop.

Cheapshot maneuvers
The various maneuvers one learns through Cheapshots training are as follows: Footstomp, Nosetweak, Templeshot, Kneebash, Eyepoke, Throatchop, and Swiftkick.

Footstomp
Learned at rank 1 in the guild or rank 1 on the Combat Maneuvers List, this skill inflicts a target with roundtime, should the attack be successful. A successful attack will cause the victim to suffer up to 20 seconds of roundtime, depending on how successful the attacker is.

<prelog2>
Roundtime: 10 sec.
</pre>

Nosetweak
Learned at rank 10 in the Rogue Guild or rank 2 on the Combat Maneuvers List, this skill reduces the defensive strength of a target by 10, should the attack succeed. An empty hand is required to perform this skill. There is a bonus of 10 when the target is stunned, and 25 is added to the roll if the target is in offensive stance.

Templeshot
Learned at rank 20 in the Rogue Guild or rank 2 on the Combat Maneuvers List, this skill reduces the attack strength of a target by 10, should the attack succeed. A weapon is required to be in the attacker's hands to use this skill.

Kneebash
Learned at rank 30 in the Rogue Guild or rank 3 on the Combat Maneuvers List, this skill forces a target to its knees. In many cases, this skill is superior to Sweep due to the lower stamina cost and the fact that some targets that are immune to Sweep are vulnerable to Kneebash. Using a blackjack for this maneuver will add a bonus.

Roundtime: 10 sec.
</pre>

Eyepoke
Learned at rank 42 in the Rogue Guild or rank 4 on the Combat Maneuvers List, this combat maneuver reduces a target's defensive strength and attack strength by 15, making it superior to both Templeshot and Nosetweak combined.
The stinging pain in your eye subsides.
</pre>

Throatchop
Learned at rank 54 in the Rogue Guild or rank 4 on the Combat Maneuvers List, this spell prevents a target from talking for a short period of time. This also prevents a caster from preparing a spell, though the short duration brings its usefulness into question.

Swiftkick
Learned at rank 63 (mastery) in the Rogue Guild or rank 5 on the Combat Maneuvers List, this skill forces an opponent into an offensive stance in a similar manner that Frenzy (216) does.

Tasks
There are five different tasks that are assigned to a trainee in the Rogue Guild. Similar to the other guild skills, some tasks are performed inside the guild, some against critters, and some with other guild members.

;Sweeping the Guild
:Similar to other tasks, the rogue must sweep dirt from the guild's courtyard, using a broom and bag from the tool rack.

;Watering the Flowers
:The rogue must water flowers in several locations throughout the guild, using a watering can from the tool rack.

;Cleaning the Windows
:Similar to other tasks, the rogue must clean windows in several locations throughout the guild, using a rag from the tool rack.

;Critter Repetitions
:Similar to other tasks, the rogue must practice their latest cheapshot against a challenging creature.

;Partner Repetitions
:Similar to other tasks, the rogue must practice attacking or defending with their latest cheapshot against a fellow rogue guild member.
A Meeting Hall Organization ("MHO") is an organization run by the players of GemStone IV. Any group with a defined purpose which is open to new members and engages in activities which involve the greater community is eligible to form an MHO.

MHOs are run out of a Town Meeting Hall, which provides a location for member groups to meet as well as services that aid in the running of events and activities. Each Hall contains several reservable meeting rooms, a place to rent services such as food carts and themed tents, a shop to purchase unique group insignia and other supplies, and a private tavern. The Hall also allows groups to issue news items and event announcements. Some services are available immediately upon joining, others become available after time and demonstrated community involvement.
