===Who organizes SimuCon?===

Typically GameMasters from Gemstone IV and DragonRealms are the official organizers. However, many players pitch in to plan unofficial events or to offer support. All work is strictly volunteer, so please be sure to thank your organizer team!

===What is it like to attend a SimuCon?===

SimuCon is a gathering of players and GameMasters for Simutronics games, including Gemstone IV and DragonRealms. The convention includes several events, as listed in the [[#2022 Schedule|2022 Schedule]], that are planned by both players and staff. In-between events, attendees typically gather at conference tables similar to a large LAN party to play. Board games and other activities are frequently available as well.

===How many people attend SimuCon and when do they show up?===

SimuCon has experienced a growth spurt over the past three years or so. A current rough estimate would be 100 attendees (GS and DR combined) over the course of the weekend. The main convention days are Thursday through Sunday, although several people arrive on Wednesday and stay through Monday. The convention room is typically setup by Wednesday evening.

===What equipment should I bring?===

Bring your laptop/computer so that you can play Gemstone during the convention. Internet access and power strips are typically provided. '''Note:''' It is not recommended that you leave your equipment unattended in the conference room.

===Will I need a car?===

Many attendees never leave the hotel. However if you are planning to explore St. Louis, a car is recommended as public transportation options are slim. Lyft and Uber are both operational in St. Louis and are ideal for single trips. For any excursions listed in the schedule, carpool options may be available. A shuttle may be available to and from your hotel for airport travel, but don't forget to bring cash for a tip!

===Is SimuCon family friendly?===

In general, yes. Some attendees do bring children but activities in the convention room may be of limited interest to them. Note the [[#Attractions|Attractions]] section listed below for additional kid-friendly activities available in St. Louis. Please expect to encounter explicit language and consumption of alcoholic beverages, which will increase in the late night hours.

Depending on funds available, basic snacks will be provided. You are generally on your own for meals and can purchase food at the grocery or restaurant options listed in the [[#Dining.2FEating|Dining/Eating]] section. SimuCon is strictly BYOB. Alcohol can be purchased in most grocery stores and gas stations in Missouri.

===What should I wear?===

SimuCon is casual attire unless the schedule for a specific event indicates otherwise. Some events may encourage costumes or themed attire.

===Is there a pool?===

YES! Pack your bathing suits because the official SimuCon hotel has an outdoor pool! There is even a poolside bar with snacks and beverages (open Friday through Sunday), and towel service is available. It is recommended that you pack sunscreen ahead of time, because the hotel and nearby shops do not stock any! It is also recommended that you bring pool noodles, because pool noodles are wicked cool.

===STATEMENT OF PURPOSE===

Rone Academy was established for the sole purpose of promoting the lawful goals of the realms residents and the membership as determined to be of a mutual benefit. To promote learning throughout the lands, by attempting to train residents of Elanthia in the knowledge of the realm, so as not to be led astray by those who would corrupt for their own fortune and fame. To unite those who would help, heal and protect under a common name, for the purposes of showing charity to those less knowledgeable of the realms. To provide a support system capable of sustaining and training in the apprenticeship program of Rone Academy and realm professions. To dedicate time for the retelling of realm history, legends, and folklore of the many towns, cities, and outposts.

===STATEMENT OF GOVERNMENT===

A Council consisting of its house officers governs Rone Academy. The Council has authority to carry out the day-today operations of the Academy, and to make and carry out decisions within the scope of the specifically delegated powers of its constituent offices, and any such tasks or duties as might be specifically delegated to the offices. The Regent and its office have final authority over all decisions.

====OFFICER TERM====

Officer Terms are established for life. In the event of the vacancy of an office due to any reason, the co-holder of the office shall assume office until nominations and a vote can be arranged.

====OFFICER DUTIES====

Officer duties shall include eight hours a month near or at the house to answer questions and provide tours. This will negate the Monthly service event requirement as defined in Section 5.3A. Duties for each position are listed below, but not limited to, the following:

Regent - The Regent has the authority over all decisions and actions of the House, and ultimately responsible for the same.

Ambassador - The Ambassador has authority over all decisions and actions of the house if and when the Regent is not available or incapacitated.

Sage/Scribe - The Sage/Scribe is responsible for all official correspondence, record keeping and reports to local government. The Sage/Scribe shall keep minutes of meetings, maintain an up-to-date membership list and shall make said list available to all members upon request; shall maintain an up-to-date list of member contact information, and shall provide that list to the other officers as needed, or to individual members upon approval of a request submitted to the Regent or Ambassador. The office of Sage/Scribe will issue membership reports as required in Section 6.

Chatelaine/Exchequer - Is the chief financial officer and responsible for maintaining the financial records of the House, seeing that all debts are paid and expenses are accounted for, and collecting all yearly membership fees. This office is also responsible for the tracking of member service event requirements and note those to be put before board for review. The office of Treasurer will also issue financial reports as required in Section 6.

Headmaster/Headmistress - These scholars are charged with maintaining classes for the house. They are required to hold classes or coordinate teachers with the instructional classes needed for the house. This office will work with the Bursar's office and Sage's office regarding class schedules, events, scripts from the classes, and monies needed. This office will also issue class reports as required in Section 6.

Elder-Magus - Our magical advisor. This position will work in correlation with any of the officers that may need his/her participation. Typical duties include house hunts, promotion of membership, membership committee duties, events, keeping the profession rooms stocked and things of a similar nature.

Elder-Marshal - Our weapons advisor. This position will work in correlation with any of the officers that may need his/her participation. Typical duties include house hunts, promotion of membership, membership committee duties, events, keeping the profession rooms stocked and things of a similar nature.

===MEETINGS===

All meetings of the Leadership and the Council are to be governed by Lord Robert's Rules of Order.

A quorum will be construed if 51% of the Leadership present.

===MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS===

The Chairman will Regent a membership committee.

Membership in Rone Academy is dependant upon the bylaws as stated.

Full Membership Requirements are as follows:

A. Minimum of 5 (five) trainings

B. Being in good standing in regards to the laws of Elanthia and Simutronics? policy.

C. Approval by majority vote of Membership Committee

D. Payment of Induction Fee (25,000 silvers) at time of induction and Yearly Membership fee (25,000 per year) due no later than January 30th of each new year.

E. A thirty (30) day minimum in Apprenticeship Program. The apprenticeship program requires that candidate does two house events. A maximum time period of sixty 60 days is allowed for completion, unless otherwise approved by the Regent. Description of the events will follow.

F. One service event logged monthly to house Treasurer (See 5.3 A for details)

Apprentice: An apprentice is someone who has met all the basic requirements to become a member with the exception of the history project, but may be denied full membership in the event their project is not accepted, and may be expelled from the Academy if they fail to fulfill the project requirement within two months (60 days) of their induction. An apprentice enjoys all of the benefits of membership, however, they will not be eligible for service on committees such as Membership or Events and Officer positions.

Member: A member is someone who has been granted membership, and whose project the Membership Committee has approved. A member may hold an office position and sponsor a candidate for membership, if they are in good standing with house requirements, and have been a member a minimum of ninety (90) days.

===MEMBERSHIP CAP===

House membership is not to exceed Two-Hundred and Fifty (250) members.

===CODE OF CONDUCT===

Strict adherences to the policies are required. Violation of any of the guidelines may be grounds for disciplinary action, up to and including expulsion.

A) Non-consensual PvP violence prohibited. Members are prohibited from engaging in non-consensual violence against other adventurers.

B) Participation in Academy activities. All members are expected to participate in Academy-sponsored activities, within reason. Justified absence or non-participation is acceptable, but a chronic lack of participation may lead to disciplinary action, including suspension of membership or expulsion.

C) Members are expected to treat one another with dignity and respect.

D) Members are expected to conduct themselves publicly with the dignity and decorum befitting a member of a distinguished academic and socially active organization.

===APPLICATION PROCEDURES===

A) Application Submission - Applicant submits Rone Academy membership application to Membership Committee Chairman, who in turn, processes and forwards to the committee for voting. The committee will review application and approve or disapprove for interview. A majority vote presides overall.

B) Interview with Membership Committee and final vote by Committee for Apprenticeship.

C) Induction

a) All inductees must have read and agreed to the guidelines set out in the official CHE documents "House System, Part I" and "House System, Part II.

b) All inductees must have read and understood the By-Laws of Rone Academy

c) All inductees must have the initiation fee in silver (NOT a note), on their person at the time of their induction, and must pay this fee before initiation can proceed.

d) All inductees will be required to make a pledge of commitment to the purposes of the Academy and to fellow members.

D) The applicant will be contacted by the Membership Chairman to set up the induction ceremony. The money will exchange hands at the induction ceremony. Two officers and one witness, hopefully the inductee's sponsor, are required to be present to make the induction official.

E) Apprenticeship Program. Applicant is assigned to a Sponsor or house Officer/Member for apprenticeship. A Sponsor is a member, in good standing with the house that vouches for the suitability of a candidate for admission and will take responsibility for them during their apprenticeship. A Candidate that has not been sponsored by a member will be assigned to a member or officer during their apprenticeship program. An apprentice is required to complete their events project within sixty (60) days of induction.

===EVENTS REQUIREMENT===

The Apprentice Project will include two events, one event which is done with a house member and/or officer. The other event will be something you devise yourself. The project you devise must meet the approval of the Membership Committee Chair. You may ask for advice and help on this project. These projects must be completed within 60 days of apprenticeship, unless otherwise authorized by the Membership Committee Chairman. An apprentice must complete this assignment in a manner that is satisfactory to the Rone Membership Committee. The project is submitted to the committee for review and approval, and eventually ends up in the house Archive and public library (website) depending on the nature of the event.

This oath is to be taken freely, if applicant has any reservations they should be made prior to induction. Failure to uphold oath can result in removal from House.

===MEMBERSHIP SERVICES PROVIDED===

B) Education, as set forth in our by laws

D) House Hunts, games, and other activities
E) Enchanting Services at low cost

===MEMBERSHIP RULES AND REGULATIONS===

The following rules are house policy and should be taken seriously failure to comply for a period of three (3) consecutive months without prior due notice to the Regent of Ambassador, may result in fines, suspension of membership benefits or expulsion as voted on by the Officers of the house. Remember you joined for knowledge not an extra large locker.

A) SERVICE

It is the policy of this house that all members complete a minimum of one documented service event per month.

Service may include:
1. Teaching a course as specified by the Headmaster/Headmistress.
2. Furthering your knowledge, by taking a course, attending stories, classes, etc.
2. Teaching of some history of Elanthia
3. Leading a house hunt or other activity of educational value.
4. Assisting and/or training a house member in their life's activities
5. Other services acceptable to the Leadership.
6. Attending public forums
7. Serving on membership committee (first/second elders)

B) HOUSE SUPPORT
All members are encouraged to do additional work, such as hold auctions, games, or attend more classes to further themselves. However, this is not transferable to succeeding months, but may be recognized by the Leadership as a sign of leadership and dedication.

===OFFICER REPORTS===

6.1 The office of Sage/Scribe shall issue a monthly report to all officers of current House membership and future events and activities.

6.2 The office of Bursar/Exchequer shall issue a quarterly report to all officers of House financial status, including outstanding loans, debts and funds earned due to special House events.

===GROUNDS FOR DISMISSAL===

1) Transfer of bodies to other souls is punishable by immediate banishment from the House, with no further chance of rejoining. No exceptions, ever, for any reason.

2) Any conflicts, duels or assaults caused by or involving house members will be taken under consideration for disciplinary action including dismissal.

3) Lockouts from Elanthia are grounds for immediate dismissal from Rone Academy.

4) Nepotism is permissible on a case-by-case basis. Nepotism is defined as the circumstance of two or more members having the same "soul." The case in question will be reviewed, and if permitted, the applicant will go through the same process and be subject to the same membership requirements as the other members. If two or more members are discovered to possess the same "soul" without the prior knowledge of the officers, all but the most senior member shall be subject to immediate expulsion, and the senior member may be subject to additional discipline (including expulsion), as the circumstances warrant. The "senior member" is the member who has belonged to the society for the greatest length of time.

5) Members must have a current email address for news or events and to keep a current active status of House membership. Failure to do so will result in an 'inactive' status and may be grounds for dismissal

===DISCLAIMER===

No member, once leaving, voluntary or involuntary, is entitled to any refund and/or benefit of any house service. Rooms not paid for may be reassigned and the banning of a player from GS4 is cause to terminate ones membership after an inquiry by the house officers. The House officers reserve the right to modify and improve this document as is necessary by changing times and House needs.
