Creature end

Torrents of spiritual magic dance around the farlook in a vivid display of black and white wisps. A soft liquid membrane is covered with a thickened skin that covers three-fourths of sphere-shape. A large, iris takes up the remaining quarter, which can be protected by a folded layer of skin just just above it. A sick goo constantly drips from the severed nerve ending jutting out of the back of the farlook. Crimson energy ripples emanate from the bottom of the farlook, causing it to bob up and down a few inches off the ground.

Hunting strategies
addmetext
Other information
Farlooks do not spawn routinely in the Temple. They are created two at a time by a hunch-backed dogmatist performing a ritual on a dead player:
<pre>A hunch-backed dogmatist kneels down next to you brandishing a dual-tipped dagger from her black silk sack. Mumbling a soft prayer, she pries back your eyelids and plunges the tips of the dagger into your eye socket. Digging around for a few moments, the dogmatist manages to dislodge the eyes with a sickening *PLOP* as they fall to the floor.
DEAD>

With her ritual task complete, the hunch-backed dogmatist puts the dagger back into her black silk sack. She begins to recite a cryptic prayer as she turns her attention to the extracted eyes.
DEAD>

The dogmatist chants,
"Tulya ana kulie, ontayetille!"
"Na H at-nosta, ontayetille!"
"Laito ata, ontayetille!"

The lifeless eyes begin to twitch in response to the dogmatist's chanting!
DEAD>

The hunch-backed dogmatist continues to wave a hand over the extracted eyes, beckoning a response from them while continuing to murmur the word "Ontayetille."
DEAD>

The hunch-backed dogmatist continues her arcane chant for several moments longer. Finally, with a belabored sigh, she stops the gestures and chants, watching expectantly.

DEAD>
One black eye gory with blood, and the other black eye already putrid with decay, begin to pulse and twitch. Erratically, they hop along the floor, as they expand and grow, mutating to become hundreds of times larger than their original form.

A gory black eye crackles with elemental energy and rises higher into the air. Soon, it sheds any past connections with its former existence, and transforms into a full-fledged black farlook.

A putrid black eye fills with twisted spiritual energy, as it ascends higher into the air. Like its previous companion, it writhes and transforms into a putrid black farlook.

The twin farlooks rapidly twirl about, coming to a stop, their irises facing the dogmatist.
A hunch-backed dogmatist rejoices as she rises back to her feet!

A gory black farlook hovers as a tempest of azure energy coalesces around itself.
DEAD>
A putrid black farlook hovers as a tempest of crimson energy coalesces around itself.</pre>

It seems that there are two types of farlooks: A gory (player's eye color) farlook, and a putrid (player's eye color) farlook. The gory variety uses elemental spells, and the putrid variety uses spiritual.

An example of a gory farlook's mote:
<pre>
A gory stormy grey farlook draws in ripples of elemental energy upon itself. The farlook becomes almost entirely obscured by the collected energy before releasing a violent explosion of electricity outward!

You leap to the side as you try to avoid the effulgent volley!
What agility! What grace! A flickering ball of electricity passes harmlessly by you!
Roundtime: 3 sec.

The siren is a peculiar vision of beauty from the sea. Though her lower body is that of an iridescently scaled fish, it takes away nothing from the rest of her ravishingly feminine figure draped in long, golden blonde hair and surrounded by a mystical aura. Discretely hidden webbing beneath her arms that aids in navigating deep waters has given rise to the erroneous legend that the siren can also fly. The soothing song from these strangely beautiful creatures has pulled many sailors to their deaths, and every moment that the siren gazes at you with her captivating brilliant blue eyes and serenades you with liquid notes from her glistening full lips is a moment that you plunge deeper into danger yourself.

Hunting strategies
Sirens are most dangerous when encountered with other creatures. Lullaby can easily set you up to be killed by a triton radical or a triton combatant. Song of Depression lasts 5 minutes regardless of how badly you fail the warding check and can end a hunt before it even begins. But their most dangerous ability is casting Song of Tonis which makes every creature in the room attack much quicker.

Sirens are not hard to fight by themselves and they are probably the easiest creature to hunt in Nelemar. However, they need to be a priority to stun or kill when in a room with other creatures to prevent them from disabling you or using Song of Tonis. They wear no armor, have no nature resistances, and are not very perceptive which makes them very easy to instantly kill by head ambush. Their Ensnare does terrible damage but they can pick up other weapons left on the ground if you are not careful.

Other information
*Sirens are always female and do not have a left leg or a right leg and are small enough that even Haflings and Gnomes can ambush their heads.

*Spawns holding a small shield. This is either a pearlescent oyster shell shield (2nd floor spawns) or a sienna-banded scallop shell shield (3rd floor spawns). These are small shields made out of bone that weighs 6 pounds. Both are crumbly.

*Does not spawn with a weapon and will try to ensnare players by default. They can and will pick up the weapons of other Nelemar creatures:
A siren slings a sienna-banded scallop shell shield over her shoulder.
The siren's eyes go wide in fascination as she coos over her new find.
</pre>

*Sirens spawn with Elemental Defense III (414) already cast.

*Sirens only self-cast their Elemental Defense spells and do so with out a preparation message. Their spellsongs may also be cast without a preparation message.

*Occasionally drops pristine siren's hair.

*Sirens spawn with different hair and eye colors which can be seen in their description and in several of the siren's idle messages.

Possible hair colors:
:golden blonde hair
:rich brown hair
:silky black hair

The arashan is a demon archetype which originates from the Shien'tyr valence. It is not known to have any subtypes. It is classified as a minor demon, and as such, can be summoned through the use of Minor Summoning (725). The arashan was first summoned by Allereli Lissina Faendryl in prime, and Caden in plat.

Physical Description
The arashan, while vaguely similar to Elanthian spiders in appearance, has many peculiar differences. Its body consists of an abdomen, thorax and a distinct head, which is typically fused to the thorax on traditional spiders. The head bears no eyes, a likely result of Shien'tyr's absolute darkness. Long, wiry hair covers its body and legs, which the demon twitches constantly in an attempt to feel its surroundings. The hair can vary in hue, usually being black, brown, grey or a deep blue. It has eight three-segmented legs sprouting from its thorax that each end in three toes splayed 120 degrees apart. A fully upright arashan can almost rival the height of a halfling, but they rarely extend themselves far off the ground.

The face of the arashan bears only three tentacles circling its mouth. The tentacles are about a hand's length long, black, ridged and wet. They usually hang motionless from the face, but when the creature gets excited they will flare up and thrash wildly about. In foggy environments, the arashan can be seen undulating its tentacles while orally emitting some form of black thread.

Society and Behavior
The arashan call Shien'Tyr home. There appears to be no hierarchy established between the arashan and the other inhabitants of Shien'Tyr, the aishan and the shien. When summoned, the demons ignore the presence of each other. Unfortunately, this conclusion cannot be verified on their natural valence.

A peculiar habit of the arashan is its tendency to talk to itself. The arashan speak their own cryptic language, but have never been seen to speak to each other, only when alone. It is theorized that the creatures are attempting to contact other arashan over long distances, since sound potentially travels very far on Shien'Tyr, but this theory has not been proven. The voice of the arashan is hauntingly deep and raspy.

<pre>A skittish coppery brown arashan slowly approaches a capricious geyser spirit with its wiry hairs twitching wildly. Satisfied, it backs away and speaks to itself in a hollow, raspy voice, "Lthyrth oun quorlthlyl."</pre>

Light makes the arashan uncomfortable. It is unknown how exactly the demon is capable of knowing an area is lit when it lacks any eyes. Even when not in warm sunlight, but in a magically lit room, the arashan will sulk and become lazy. Due to its photophobia, the arashan is usually rather upset with being pulled away from its perpetually dark home. It has been known to not take kindly to commands and occasionally even refuse them, if it requires the arashan to do a substantial amount of work.

Mechanical Benefits and Flaws
The arashan has equal odds of being summoned as the other two demon types from shien'tyr, the aishan and the shien (darklings and shadowlings), when using a shien'tyr runestone.
The arashan may be cloaked with an illusion by Sorcerers with 60 ranks or more in the Illusions skill.

The arashan possesses a unique ability amongst demonkind; they are capable of taking control of the minor spirits that make up an area web summoned by the Web (118) spell. Controlling a web yields two major results: the web is strengthened (gains an additional snare charge and the duration is refreshed), and the web comes under the control of the arashan's summoner. Controlling a web takes 18 mana from the Sorcerer. Controlling a web is very taxing on the arashan, thus they may only do so once every five minutes. The syntax is: TELL MDEMON TO CONTROL [WEB].

Roleplaying Verbs
SNAP - You snap your fingers at a lazy shadowy black arashan beckoning it. The arashan grudgingly crawls to your side and stares at you with an eyeless face.

PET/TOUCH - You move your hand to touch the arashan's wiry shadowy black hair, but as your fingertips approach it, the hairs begin to twitch and feel around, lightly scratching against your hand.

EXHALE - You slowly and deliberately empty your filled lungs in the direction of a jittery coppery brown arashan. Its wiry coppery brown hair becomes a flurry of movement as it detects your breath.

A skittish coppery brown arashan slowly approaches a capricious geyser spirit with its wiry hairs twitching wildly. Satisfied, it backs away and speaks to itself in a hollow, raspy voice, "Lthyrth oun quorlthlyl."

__TOC__
In one swift motion, the demonologist pierces the veil between valences, seeks a suitable being to enslave for menial chores, pulls them through the tear, and finally links them to their original existence so they may be returned there. Runes are used as the focus for this magic, and more complex runes can be used to target more specific archetypes of minor demons.

Once summoned into this realm, these servants are capable of performing a myriad of utility functions such as carrying the sorcerer's eye which will allow them to see remotely. Other highlights include carrying objects, silvers, and mana, or finding and delivering messages to other characters, and even guarding their master's pockets from thieves. Demons summoned by this spell are not dangerous unless retaliating at a pickpocket, and otherwise cannot participate in the combat system.

Usage
* <TT>PREP 725|CAST {runestone}</tt>, or <tt>PREP 725|SUMMON {DEMON}</tt> to initiate.
*To summon a specific demon, hyphenate the rune then the demon. SUMMON LORAE'TYR-IGAESHA, for example. You may also enter SUMMON by itself to display a list. Using {{mono|SUMMON {DEMON} }}will incur a 50% success rate penalty (see below).
* The <tt>TELL MDEMON</tt> command displays a full list of commands for the demon. Each ability is also outlined within this article.

Demon Link & Expiration
Originally, demonologists used the link as a threat to keep the demon in line. Severing the link would strand the demon forever, unable to return home. This version of the magic is designed with safeguards against such an act, otherwise punishable by death. Thus the caster may terminate the link at any time, returning the demon to its original plane. The link will be broken automatically if the caster dies or when the spell expires. Once having summoned, the caster may not summon again for five minutes due to the exertion caused by interplanar summoning. If the summoner fails a cast, they may not attempt again for ten full minutes.

Two lesser demons, the abyran'ra and the oculoth have the ability and motivation to break your control upon a minor demon. While the abyran'ra will only attempt to break your control over abyran'a and abyran'sa demons, the oculoth will attempt to break your control over any type of demon. However, it is not a guarantee that they will break it. The primary factor for fending off this attempt is Demonology ranks. If you lose, your connection to your demon will break, and you will be severely stunned. If you succeed, you are left unharmed, and the demon who attempted it will be stunned instead. The oculoth, given its nature as a more magically inclined demon, is more skilled at breaking the connection than an abyran'ra. In the case of a lithe black abyran'ra attempting to break a sorcerer's link with an abyran'sa, it has been demonstrated that 200 Demonology ranks are required to successfully push back against the attempt with 100% certainty; it appears that Sorcerer Base ranks, Aura, and Wisdom may also make secondary contributions to resisting the abyran'ra.

The link is refreshable to the original duration by rubbing a vakra runestone.

Success Rate and Lore Benefits
Summoning a demon with a runestone and within a summoning chamber will provide the following chances:

*Valence runestones will have a 100% base chance
*Demon runestones will have a 50% base chance
*Archetype runestones will have a 25% base chance

An attempt to summon without a runestone will incur a 50 percentage point penalty on the caster's chance to summon the demon.

Training in Sorcerous Lore, Demonology will increase the chance for success by +1% per rank. Demonology Lore will also provide bonuses to the mana and silver capacities of applicable demons (see below).

<div ><tt><b>
Any number ≥ 100 means no chance of failure, actual rates shown to clarify how other numbers are determined. Since the 25% benefit to summoning chambers is "approximate," table is approximate. Also, difficulty varies depending on valence, demon, or archetype. Abyran'sa requires 100 ranks in Demonology to summon with a runestone in a summoning chamber with 100% success.

Summoning Chambers
Summoning chambers are special areas which are sensitive to the piercing of the veil, increasing the ease with which sorcerers employ this magic. Casting within a chamber will provide a 25 percentage point bonus to success rate. Additionally, the extra 600 seconds will be applied when refreshing the duration in a chamber as well.

All Sorcerer Guilds contain a summoning chamber. They are also located in some CHE structures.

Demons and the Law
Due to tactics the Faendryl used during the Undead War, the summoning and use of demons is widely shunned by most Elanthians. Demons are therefore subject to justice mechanics in all towns except Icemule Trace, Mist Harbor, and Wehnimer's Landing (since Feb. 2018). Special demon permits may be purchased in both Zul Logoth and Kharam Dzu, but are otherwise considered illegal. The Sorcerer Guild teaches the Illusions skill which can be used to cloak the demon's true image, allowing them to bypass the law as long as they remain obfuscated. Though demon illusions are permanent until dispelled, certain demons performing particular actions will cause the illusion to drop as well. A demon will automatically remain outside of town unless told to follow into town.

Demons may still roam free in areas outside of the Justice System. Use JUSTICE STATUS to determine whether an area is within jurisdiction.

A sorcerer can command an undisguised demon to automatically enter or not enter a town with the MDEMON command.

* TELL MDEMON TOWN ON instructs the demon to enter towns even if if it is not disguised by an illusion.
* TELL MDEMON TOWN OFF instructs the demon to not enter towns if it is not disguised by an illusion.
* TELL MDEMON FOLLOW instructs the demon to return to the caster's location and/or follow
* TELL MDEMON GO <tt>{direction|portal}</tt> instructs the demon to move manually

Demons carrying an eye will cause each room description to be echoed to the user as if using the eye in the same manner.

;<big>Find a Character </big>
* {{mono|TELL MDEMON FIND {character} }}instructs the demon to locate a particular character

Sends the demon to the location of a target, and if found, will follow them. Subject to the skill of the summoner and demon, vs. difficulty of finding that character. Hidden and invisible characters are more difficult to locate. Additionally, increased difficulty in finding targets will cause the demon to take longer at the task. Only targets in the same area can be targeted successfully.

;<big>Deliver a Message </big>
* {{mono|TELL MDEMON DELIVER {character} {message} }}instructs the demon to speak to another character on the caster's behalf
* {{mono|WHISPER {demon} {message} }}is for other characters to reply to a demon's message
* {{mono|WHISPER MIST {message} }}is used to communicate using shien's special message capability

Applicable demons will convey a message to a person for you. The target of the message may then reply, but there is wait time before the demon can deliver additional messages. The shien possess a unique method of delivery, which allows messages to be relayed in real time, without pause. This requires the summoner's room to be dark. Only targets in the same area can have messages delivered to them.

;<big>Carry & Release </big>
* TELL MDEMON CARRY instructs the demon to pick up and carry an eye
* TELL MDEMON RELEASE instructs the demon to release the eye into the room

Eye Spy (707) can be used in conjunction with a demon in order to see remotely. While the demon is holding the eye, only basic things can be seen. However, the eye can be released and grasped again without restriction. While independent, the eye maintains its full range of sight. Be cautious not to leave the eye stranded, as there is no command to send the demon directly to an eye. The eye is considered an item, thus the demon cannot carry it if already holding its maximum capacity. This function is also very useful to easily cast mass Evil Eye (717).

;<big>Carrying Items </big>
* {{mono|TELL MDEMON GET {item} }}instructs the demon to pick up an object
* {{mono|GIVE {demon} }}gives the demon the object you are holding in the caster's right hand
* {{mono|TELL MDEMON GIVE {caster} }}demon will give an item it is currently carrying to the caster
* {{mono|TELL MDEMON DROP {item} }}instructs the demon to drop an item it is carrying

Certain demons (aishan & igaesha) will accept more items given to them by their master directly, rather than picking them up. "Get" in the table refers to the number of items a demon will pick up and carry on its own (i.e. remotely). "Hold if Given" is the amount of items the demon can accept if handed to them by their summoner. Demons can hold a maximum of items equivalent to their "Hold if Given" value. Carrying an eye counts as one item.

;<big>Holding Coins </big>
* {{mono|GIVE {demon} {#} }}will give silver coins to the demon
* {{mono|TELL MDEMON GIVE {#} }}instructs the demon to give the caster the coins it is carrying

"Base Coins" + "Coins per Rank" determines the maximum amount of silver coins applicable demons may carry. For example, an imp (500 base) summoned by a sorcerer with 20 ranks (40 additional per rank) of demonology skill could hold 1300 coins total (500 + [20*40] = 1300). Demons will not return coins automatically upon being returned to their dimension.

;<big>Mana Sharing </big>
* {{mono|SEND {#} {demon} }}sends mana to the demon
* {{mono|TELL MDEMON SEND {#} }}instructs the demon to send mana to the caster

"Base Mana" + "Additional Mana" determines the total amount of mana each demon can hold. 'Bonus' in this situation refers to the numerical bonus corresponding to the number of demonology skill ranks (use the SKILLS command to view). For example, an igaesha (base mana of 12) summoned by a sorcerer with 50 ranks of demonology (skill bonus of 150) would be able to store a maximum of 27 mana (12 + [150/10] = 27). Demons which hold more mana are also more efficient at transferring it. Demons will not return mana automatically upon being returned to their dimension.

Channeling crystals made via alchemy can be used by both demon and master to transfer more mana between the two.

;<big>Guard & Cease </big>
* TELL MDEMON GUARD instructs the demon to guard the caster from pickpockets
* TELL MDEMON CEASE instructs the demon to ceases guarding

If the demon is in its summoner's room, they can be instructed to help notice characters attempting to pickpocket their master. Each demon, depending upon their body type, will have a particular "Attack Type" they retaliate with automatically if either the master or demon is successful in noticing the thief. The attacks of certain demons will inflict a "flare type" (i.e. disease, lightning, etc.) upon the victim, in addition to the initial damage.

;<big>Scout </big>
* TELL MDEMON SCOUT instructs the demon to scout the surrounding area for characters, creatures, and other minor demons

The demon will leave the immediate room for a short period of time, and return shortly afterwards to inform its master of the presence of all characters, creatures, and minor demons. Some areas do not work with this command, including the Sorcerer Guilds.

;<big>Eat </big>
* {{mono|TELL MDEMON EAT {object} }}instructs the demon to consume an object

Demons can be instructed to eat a variety of items within their reach. This can be used as disposal for various articles of trash, if a proper trash can is not available. Certain demons are particular about what they eat, though the igaesha will eat just about anything.

Telling a demon to eat something will blow away its illusion.

;<big>Interfere </big>
* TELL MDEMON INTERFERE instructs the demon to prevent the establishment of a sanctuary
* TELL MDEMON BREAK instructs the demon to attempt to disrupt an existing sanctuary (abyran'sa and imp only )

Through its demonic powers, a demon can interfere with the creation of sanctuaries or a Song of Peace (1011). The success of this ability is based upon a comparison of the demonologist's Sorcerer Base and demonology ranks versus the sanctuary caster's Major Spiritual and summoning ranks. Once instructed to interfere, a demon will continue to do so until told otherwise. Instructing a demon to interfere will always cause the illusion to fail, thus it is recommended to initiate this command prior to cloaking the demon.

Only the abyran'sa is capable of breaking existing player-created sanctuaries. Telling an abyran'sa to do this takes 13 mana from the summoner, whether successful or not. The Imp is the lone archetype capable of breaking an active Song of Peace (1011).

;<big>Control a web </big>
* TELL MDEMON TO CONTROL [WEB] instructs an arashan to take control of a web for its owner.

The arashan possesses a unique ability amongst demonkind; they are capable of taking control of the minor spirits that make up an area web summoned by the Web (118) spell. Controlling a web yields two major results:
*the web is strengthened (gains an additional snare charge and the duration is refreshed)
*the web comes under the control of the arashan's summoner.

Controlling a web costs the caster 18 mana. Controlling a web is very taxing on the arashan, thus they may only do so once every five minutes.

;<big>Leave </big>
* TELL MDEMON LEAVE ends the spell duration, returning the demon to its origin

The demon will drop the objects which it is carrying (not including silvers or mana), and return to its valence.
__TOC__
Animal Companion allows a ranger to befriend an animal as a permanent companion. The ranger can tell their companion to do a number of actions including attacking creatures or defending the ranger, although the companion will respond faster if it has a good relationship with the ranger and slower if not.

A ranger can gauge the quality of the relationship by GAZing at the animal companion and the relationship is established or improved by FEEDing, PETting, casting helpful spells at, or otherwise interacting with the animal companion in a positive fashion.

All four companion types (canine, feline, avian, rodent) are capable of attacking creatures (or other characters) and they do either slash (feline, avian) or puncture (canine, rodent) damage. In addition, they each have different special attacks. Animal companions will attack when told to do so and will also attack automatically when the ranger is stunned or killed. A companion's attacks are considered nature damage.

When using Assume Aspect (650), donning an aspect of a creature of the same category of the ranger's animal companion will provide a bonus to the provided benefit.

Animal Companions can be customized via Animal Companion grooming, a special merchant service.

Guarding Benefits
Telling your companion to GUARD (wait once your companion walks in front of you) gives a DS benefit. The DS benefit starts at +5 at 30 Ranger Base spell ranks and increases by +1 DS per 2 ranks, with an additional bonus based on affinity. The total DS bonus caps out at +25.

While GUARDing, companions will search for hidden creatures/players. Discovered creatures will be immediately revealed. If a player is found, the companion will indicate them to the ranger, but not reveal them.

An order to GUARD or ATTACK will be performed immediately when the companion has not recently taken a combat action.

top

Summoning a Companion
Summoning a new companion is relatively straightforward. First, the ranger should find the desired companion using SENSE, then PREPARE 630 and{{boldmono| SUMMON {desired animal}}}. Failure to specify a particular animal will summon a random animal in the room. subscription (free to play) accounts can only summon companions of the canine variety.

;Sense
<pre>
>sense
You scan your surroundings, considering the various flora and fauna found here (and noting those which are absent). The indications of the temperate climate and the deciduous forest are clearly evident. You quickly note the signs of a black-tipped forest tiger, a white-footed woodland jackal and a black-nosed mottled ferret having recently been in the area. Circling overhead is a fan-tailed branch peregrine. You also see a steep path.
</pre>

There will always be one of each type of animal companion (canine, feline, avian, rodent) in every outdoor room, but the exact animal noun (e.g. tiger, puma, ocelot) will depend on the location, with some animals being exclusive to certain cities and its descriptor (e.g. black-footed, amber-eyed) will depend on the terrain type in a particular room (see the animal companion page for details).

;Summon
<pre>
>sense
You scan your surroundings, considering the various flora and fauna found here (and noting those which are absent). The indications of the temperate climate and the plain dirt environment are clearly evident. You quickly note the signs of a black-tipped orange tiger, a white-footed drab jackal and a black-nosed mire ferret having recently been in the area. Circling overhead is a fan-tailed dusky peregrine. You don't see any other paths leading away from the area.
>prep 630
>summon tiger
You open your senses wide and allow the desires and feelings of the areas denizens fill your mind. At the very edge of your perceptions, you feel a bright glow of curiosity tinged with wariness. Concentrating, you focus your desire of friendship and camaraderie towards that bright spot. At first the wariness holds but it is soon followed by a sharp peak in curiosity as if a decision had been made.
After Summoning
Acquiring Your Companion
*If you have been lucky enough to get a companion to come when you requested it, then you will have to bond with it. To do that you have to show it affection like any other animal in order to gain its trust. How this is done is fairly simple but is left for the adventurer to discover.
*After a short time if you don't bond with the companion it will leave you and you will be penalized for some time. Do not fret as this is not permanent and you can attempt to gain the trust of another in a short while.
*If you feel that you have gained its trust, its advisable to try and befriend it. BEFRIEND <companion noun> will bond you and the companion together such that the link between the two of you is nigh unto unbreakable.
*This is a bond that will rise and fall; you can't neglect your companion and expect it to be there for you when you are down on your luck. Treat your companion well and he/she will serve well.

top
After Bonding
Companions no longer need to be told to leave before logging off. Telling it to leave is only required when you need to take a snapshot of the companion's state.

Examples of when you might need this: After having had the companion groomed, after giving the companion equipment, or if your character levels up and you want your companion to level up without having to log out and back in.
Syntax: TELL COMPANION TO <action>
*ATTACK <player or creature>:
:This will request your companion to engage a beast or player. An order to ATTACK will be performed immediately when the companion has not recently taken a combat action. If you leave the room or if the target dies, the companion will cease the battle. **Can be used in roundtime.
<pre>Your companion senses your atavistic feelings as his raw untamed emotions begin to surface and he turns his attention fully toward the stone gargoyle that he believes is the source of your irritation.</pre>

*GUARD:
:This requests your companion to shield you when you are in need of some help. An order to GUARD will be performed immediately when the companion has not recently taken a combat action. **Can be used in roundtime.
<pre>Your companion wanders closer as he detects your desire for protection.</pre>

*:
:Dictates how your companion will behave in combat. Neutral behavior is the default -- your companion will only ATTACK or GUARD when told to do so. Offensive behavior will allow your companion to follow up your attacks with their own, by automatically going into an ATTACK order. Defensive behavior will cause the companion to preemptively go into a GUARD order when you are attacked. **Can be used in roundtime.

*WANDER:
:Basically giving your companion the freedom to wander about the area.
<pre>You impress upon your companion the thought of boundless freedom and sense an eagerness from him to explore in return.</pre>

*RETURN:
:Brings your companion to your side. **Can be used in roundtime.
<pre>Your desire to see your companion again attracts his attention and you feel him start to race to meet you.</pre>

*FEED:
:This will have your companion looking for food if it's around.
<pre>You concentrate on the tastes and smells of food and focusing it down the link to your companion. After a few moments you feel the hunger pangs that this induces in your companion.</pre>

*LEAVE:
:This will send the companion away until you cast it again. It should appear as it left your side.
<pre>Your feelings push outward in askance of your companion to rest. The link carries back his discontent but grudging agreement to leave for now.</pre>
<pre>Your thoughts and feelings stray outward, as they impinge upon your companion's thoughts, you edge a bit of tiredness to them and soon your companion feels the need to rest.</pre>

*SCOUT:
:Sends your companion forth to get a count of other players and creatures in the area.

*CEASE:
:This will stop all commands that you have given to the companion, such as telling it to wander then stopping it. This will also keep the companion from emitting ambient messaging. **Can be used in roundtime.
<pre>You feel outward to your companion and impress upon him your desire that he cease his current endeavor.
Roundtime: 13 sec.</pre>

*TRACK:
:Requests your companion to locate a player, certain restrictions are involved with this as companions dislike to venture into some areas or to far from your side.

*NUDGE:
:For all companions that don't fly, this allows them to propel various objects about by applying a modicum of nose-power.

*DRAG:
:The canine and feline companions will frolic about with corpses if asked politely. This allows you to ask them to drag the stiffs in certain directions.

*MESSAGE:
:Avian companions can deliver messages to others adventurers. There are restrictions to what the companion can deliver. Beware what you write, most of the more intelligent companions have a slight understanding of the written word.
