Frequently Asked Questions
How much does SimuCon cost?
Cost and sign-up information will be available soon.

Where do I sign up?
Sign-up is usually initiated by the GM organizing SimuCon and details are released closer to the event.

Who organizes SimuCon?
Typically GameMasters from Gemstone IV and DragonRealms are the official organizers. However, many players pitch in to plan unofficial events or to offer support. All work is strictly volunteer, so please be sure to thank your organizer team!

What is it like to attend a SimuCon?
SimuCon is a gathering of players and GameMasters for Simutronics games, including Gemstone IV and DragonRealms. The convention includes several events, as listed in the 2020 Schedule, that are planned by both players and staff. In-between events, attendees typically gather at conference tables similar to a large LAN party to play. Board games and other activities are frequently available as well.

How many people attend SimuCon and when do they show up?
SimuCon has experienced a growth spurt over the past three years or so. A current rough estimate would be 100 attendees (GS and DR combined) over the course of the weekend. The main convention days are Thursday through Sunday, although several people arrive on Wednesday and stay through Monday. The convention room is typically setup by Wednesday evening.

What equipment should I bring?
Bring your laptop/computer so that you can play Gemstone during the convention. Internet access and power strips are typically provided. Note: It is not recommended that you leave your equipment unattended in the conference room.

Will I need a car?
Many attendees never leave the hotel. However if you are planning to explore St. Louis, a car is recommended as public transportation options are slim. Lyft and Uber are both operational in St. Louis and are ideal for single trips. For any excursions listed in the schedule, carpool options may be available. A shuttle may be available to and from your hotel for airport travel, but don't forget to bring cash for a tip!

Is SimuCon family friendly?
In general, yes. Some attendees do bring children but activities in the convention room may be of limited interest to them. Note the Attractions section listed below for additional kid-friendly activities available in St. Louis. Please expect to encounter explicit language and consumption of alcoholic beverages, which will increase in the late night hours.

What is the weather typically like?
Missouri is nicknamed "Misery" for its hot and humid summers. For a current local forecast, click here: https://www.ksdk.com/weather

Do I need to bring food or beverages?
Depending on funds available, basic snacks will be provided. You are generally on your own for meals and can purchase food at the grocery or restaurant options listed in the Dining/Eating section. SimuCon is strictly BYOB. Alcohol can be purchased in most grocery stores and gas stations in Missouri.

What should I wear?
SimuCon is casual attire unless the schedule for a specific event indicates otherwise. Some events may encourage costumes or themed attire.

Is there a pool?
YES! Pack your bathing suits because the official SimuCon hotel has an outdoor pool! There is even a poolside bar with snacks and beverages (open Friday through Sunday), and towel service is available. It is recommended that you pack sunscreen ahead of time, because the hotel and nearby shops do not stock any! It is also recommended that you bring pool noodles, because pool noodles are wicked cool.

Visitor Information
Indiegogo Campaign
The annual Indiegogo Campaign's purpose is to fund expenses for SimuCon, and all funds raised are used for the direct support of the convention. Any funds raised beyond the original goal are used for additional perks such as extra snacks and prizes for attendees.

Currently no campaign link is available, but will likely be available in early June.

A node is a location where mana flows more freely than most other locations, which has numerous effects. A node increases experience absorption, mana regeneration, and spirit regeneration, and it has effects on various other factors in GemStone IV, such as the chance of enchanting an item. Nodes are not common locations. A common method used to find a node is the use of the MEDITATE verb, which (it is widely believed) will not cause a character to kneel and meditate should the area not be a node; however, this is actually inaccurate as MEDITATE also works in non-node areas under a sanctuary effect.
Gathering Points
A town's central gathering point for adventurers is usually a node; in some towns, due to high traffic or custom, multiple gathering points are in use. These include but are not limited to:
The Sorcerer Guild is a profession guild dedicated to the arcane studies and development of sorcery worldwide.

Skills
Illusions
An extension of the sorcerous ability to weave and mold essence.

Alchemy
Comprises three individual guild skills: General Alchemy, Sorcerer Potions, and Sorcerer Trinkets.

Requirements
Sorcerers level 15 and above can join the guild.

Fees
It costs 4500 silvers to join the guild, and 1500 per month. You may pay up to three months (90 days) in advance.

Guildmaster
Promotion to Guildmaster status requires mastery of at least one guild skill and a total of 125 skill ranks; once meeting this requirement, the presence of 2 other members who have also met the requirement (whether they are currently a Guildmaster or eligible for promotion themselves) is necessary to execute the promotion. Player Guildmasters can gain experience and fame for checking in other Guild members (must be inactive or required to check in in the next 10 days) or for promoting other Guild members to higher ranks. Guildmasters need to drop by the guild once a month - if they don't they'll receive a warning after a month, followed by loss of status after three.
__TOC__
The Raise Dead spell allows a Cleric to resurrect a dead adventurer. When used successfully it can result in significant experience gain for the Cleric (up to approximately 400-500 points.)

Note that it can be dangerous to cast Raise Dead without having at least a bonus of 100 in Spiritual Mana Control. Excluding enhancives, this generally means 24 ranks of Spiritual Mana Control.

Linking
The first step is establishing a spiritual link to the body by casting Well of Life at the corpse. After 15 seconds of roundtime (and any desired rites or rituals), the Cleric may cast Raise Dead at the body. The Cleric will sustain heavy roundtime (35-45 seconds), and both the Cleric and the recently resurrected will be stunned. Failure to cast Well of Life before casting Raise Dead (as well as casting Raise Dead on oneself) will cause a spiritual backlash and a significant stun.

After the resurrection the Cleric remains linked to the person. If, for any reason, during this time the person dies again the Cleric receives this message:
<pre>
You have a foreboding sense of darkness enveloping your soul as you realize XXX has died while both of you are still soul linked!
You can sense the tugging of XXX's soul clinging on to life, pulling you headlong into the long dark.
It takes every ounce of spiritual energy you have to sever the link and claw yourself back to the world of the living!
You feel empty and torpid, unable to focus your spiritual self.

Once this occurs the Cleric temporarily loses the ability to resurrect the dead for one hour.

Healing
A prudent cleric makes sure the corpse is not bleeding prior to casting the spell; most people that are dead have a good reason for doing so, and failure to fix this (by calling upon the services of an Empath, use of POURable herbs, or simply TENDing the wounds with the First Aid skill) could result in the newly-arisen meeting a second death - before the link between Cleric and client drops. If that happens, the Cleric will be unable to use Well of Life, and therefore be unable to cast Raise Dead successfully, for one hour.

Costs
Casting Raise Dead will drain the caster of spirit points, based upon the maximum spirit of the target and the degree of training in the Cleric Base Spells the Cleric possesses. Overtraining DOES trigger these benefits.
*At 18 ranks, the spell is Raise Dead and costs 75% of the target's maximum spirit, and restores them to 1 health and spirit.
*At 25 ranks, the spell is Life Restoration and costs 50% of the target's maximum spirit. This stronger version of Raise Dead grants the newly-arisen 10% of maximum health and spirit.
*At 40 ranks, the spell is Resurrection and costs 25% of the target's maximum spirit, and restores the target to 50% of maximum health. This will also cost the cleric 40 mana.

Attempting to cast Raise dead with insufficient spirit points may result in either a spell failure or a spirit death for the cleric involved.

Chrism Raising
Using a chrism gem on the body, activated by WAVING it at the body, along with Raise Dead will allow the deader to retain some, even up to all, of his or her experience that he or she had when dying. The base chrism gem raise will allow the body to retain 50% of their experience, and every seed increase in Blessing lore after that retains an additional 5%, up to 100% at 65 Blessing lore ranks. The base lore required to create a chrism gem used in raising is: 25 ranks Spiritual Lore, Religion; 10 ranks of Spiritual Lore, Blessings; and 15 ranks of Spiritual Lore, Summoning. (This can be achieved at level 25 with 2x training in lores.)

Clerics with a subscription cannot use a chrism without first purchasing a Resurrection Pass.

Messaging
:Main article
The rolling sound ripples upon the air and collides with your chest an instant before a brilliant flash suffuses you with raw spiritual energy.

<prelog2>Moisture beads on the skin of CASTER and TARGET as the former's eyes cloud over with the darkness of a rising storm. Power builds upon the air, causing the hair upon your arms to rise, and as CASTER utters the last words of his spell you hear the rumble of thunder in his voice. The rolling sound collides with TARGET's prone form, its very touch creating a brilliant flash that suffuses her in raw spiritual energy.

2
The Enchant Item spell is the final step of Enchanting: the process of magically enhancing a properly prepared weapon, armor, or shield. Each successful enchantment provides a permanent +5 bonus to the item's attack strength (AS) or defensive strength (DS), as applicable.

It is possible to enchant any combination of plain, enhancive, sanctified (holy), and elemental flaring items up to a bonus of +35. It is also possible to enchant plain and elemental flaring items up to +50 with the required special tempering and pre-tempering potions. However, most items do not make it higher than +20 via the Enchant Item spell due to the rarity of these potions and also account limitations on enchanting items over +16 AS or DS bonus.

The process of enchanting can be lengthy, but can be reduced via training in Elemental Lore, Water and a special potion infusion process.
Enchanting Process for Plain Items
The following is an explanation of how to enchant plain items, meaning any item that does not require a special tempering or pre-temper potion, up to +35 (7x). See Flaring Items and Enhancive and Holy Items sections for information on additional steps and/or training needed for those types of items.

Plain items include forged weapons and otherwise plain items with spikes, resistances, and/or Ensorcell (although resistances and Ensorcell add to difficulty). Some functional scripts (e.g. Voln armor) will also still allow an item to be enchanted--and will probably add to difficulty--as long as the padding/flare slot is not also taken (see: charts of clarity) and the item creator has not specifically disallowed it. The only sure way to determine whether or not an item will accept an enchantment is to try to pour a tempering potion on it. (However, Bless Item (304) comes very close.)

#Test whether or not wizard can successfully enchant an item by CASTing Enchant Item at the item (this will also give the temper status if the item is tempered)
# POUR appropriate tempering potion on item
Difficulty Detection
A wizard's chance for success in enchanting an item can be determined by CASTing Enchant Item at an item. This can be done without first tempering the item, but an item must be tempered to get the most accurate reading, since potions, especially pre-tempering ones, may add a considerable penalty.

The corresponding messaging for the CHANNEL attempts are included here in the chart on the right for easy reference. On the final step of any enchant (the channel after the final tempering), there is a minimum 3% failure rate, which if well trained, may only occur in the form of a fumble roll (1, 2, or 3 of a d100) (see below for more detail). As the enchant process progresses, CHANNELs become increasingly harder. Thus, the difficulty detection reading only gives the chance for the final, hardest CHANNEL. The charts below are also based on the final CHANNEL.

CASTing at the item will also indicate how much time remains before the tempering is complete.
Success Factors
Temper
The factors that determine success are lumped together as 'modifiers' in the activation formula. If the total of a d100 roll plus the modifiers is 101 or greater, the pour will be successful.
Tempering Formula
Example: Wizard with 200 MIU skill, 25 LOG bonus, 20 INT bonus, 25 AUR bonus, 22 WIS bonus, Dirtokh potion (+25 bonus), Item enchant bonus + 20, unencumbered and fully trained for their armor.

Pour modifiers:
200 (MIU) + 25 (LOG) + 20 (INT) + trunc(25 AUR + 22 WIS)/2 + 25 (potion bonus) - 20 (item enchant bonus) = 273

Encumbrance will reduce the pour modifiers by 1 for each 1% of encumbered body weight. E.g., a halfling with a body weight of 120 lbs. and 24 lbs. of encumbered weight will have a penalty of 20 to the pour modifiers total.

Not being adequately trained for worn armor may penalize a character's attempt to successfully pour the potion. This penalty is based on the armor's roundtime adder and the wearer's Armor Use skill. There is no armor penalty to the activation roll if the character is properly trained for their armor, or is wearing robes or light leather. The penalty for AsG 6 (full leather) and higher is 20 points per second of untrained RT adder. The formula for calculating the amount of Armor Use skill required to fully negate the penalty is
(RT adder * 20) - 10
.

An item will detemper and revert back to its original state if left untouched for 28 days. The entire process will have to be repeated from the first temper if this were to occur.
Of all the factors in success, Wizard spell ranks are weighted the highest in terms of how much they contribute to your overall enchanting skill. The precise formula to achieve a successful enchantment is not released. What is known is that the level and Wizard Base ranks of the enchanter are primary factors, and that carelessness while going through the motions (channeling while an item is still tempering) is the largest factor of failure. The following table lists all known factors (positive or negative), in no particular order. At the very least, a wizard should be uninjured, unencumbered and in a magical workshop with a familiar present.

As mentioned above, there is a minimum 3% failure rate for the final step of any enchant, regardless of the enchanter's stats, skills, level, or the level of the enchantment itself. Gift of Eonak reduces the chances of a failed cast by providing two d100 rolls and keeping the higher result. On the earlier channels during the process, it is possible to have 100% success with the right training, but the final CHANNEL will always be at most a 97% chance of success.
Mana Pools & Flaring Items (Lore Benefits)
Reduced Temper Time
The ability to store mana in a personal mana pool is unlocked at 5 ranks of Elemental Lore, Water. The maximum amount of mana that can be stored per week is 10,000, and a grand total of 35,000 mana points can be stored. Mana accumulates in the pool when the wizard gains base experience; every 30 base experience (XP) will provide 1 mana to the pool. Further training in Water Lore will increase the rate that mana is gained based on a seed 5 summation of ranks.

The amount of mana stored will be adjusted based on the amount of experience gained using 30 as a baseline. So if 15 XP is gained, a half point would be stored that doesn't round up or down. Two pulses at 15 XP a piece would net a full point at 5 ranks. If one gained 18 mana per 30 XP and a pulse granted you 45 XP, 27 mana would be added to the pool. Offline experience absorption will add to the mana pool, but long-term experience will not.

Every 325 mana points from the wizard's stored mana will reduce a temper potion time by 1 percent (up to 95%) and every 200 mana points can substitute as 1 lore rank for infusing elemental pre-temper potions (up to 50 ranks, see next section for more on elemental flaring items).

Mana is transferred from the mana pool to a potion by INFUSing it. While the potions can be combined, an infusion will only last for ONE pour; thus, a potion will need to be infused each time after it is used. In addition, a potion can only be infused ONCE with mana before it is used and the infusion will always use the maximum amount of mana possible. INFUSing a potion again will reveal the potion's bonus. The maximum mana a tempering potion can hold is 33,250, which will reduce the tempering time by 95%. For example, a tempering time of 14 days (336 hours) would be reduced to less than a day (16.8 hours) with a 95% temper time reduction.

Although each potion can only be infused once before it is poured again, there is no limit to the total number of potions a wizard has pre-infused, and the potions never expire. However, once a potion has been infused, it can only be used by the infusing wizard.
100 ranks of an applicable Elemental Lore are required to be able to enchant an elemental flaring item (see chart at right). Elemental flaring items are more difficult to enchant, and training in additional applicable lore ranks above 100 ranks will grant a bonus to enchant success.

As mentioned above, deficiencies in Elemental Lore ranks can be offset by unlocking a mana pool at 5 ranks of Water Lore and infusing 200 mana per rank needed into the appropriate elemental pre-temper potion. The maximum number of ranks that can be offset is 50, thus the maximum mana that can be stored per pour in a pre-tempering potion is 10,000. As with tempering potions, pre-tempering potions can only be infused ONCE with mana before the item is poured, and subsequent uses of INFUSE on the potion will tell how much power the potion has.

In the case of hybrid elements, 100 ranks of either applicable lore is sufficient, and only one pre-tempering potion of the two that will work is required. Pre-tempering potions must be poured at each step of enchanting before the item is tempered with the tempering potion, so a 4x-5x enchant would require a full 5 pour pre-tempering potion.
It is possible to end the tempering of an active project in order to begin a new one. This can be performed by POURing a dose of a sarmoc potion on the item. Like tempering a project, detempering also takes some time (though substantially less than many temper times). Status of the detemper can be checked using Elemental Detection (405). Further, the sarmoc potion can only be used by a wizard (though it does not need to be the same wizard who initiated the project). If the detempering project was a major enchantment, no new major projects should be undertaken until the detempering is complete.

Sisfu Potion
Sisfu potion

Rewards for Enchanting
Successful enchantments earn experience, and potentially large amounts of silver.

While the enchantment process does not directly reward the wizard in silver, many items are enchanted with the intent of sale. By increasing the enchantment on an item, the wizard has increased its value, sometimes by immense amounts. This is particularly true of major enchantments (above 4x), enhancive/sanctified/flaring gear, and enchantments of unusual items.

Major enchant projects are exceedingly valuable due to the time and skill which they take to complete, and the restriction of only one major enchant at a time. In some cases, wizards will hire themselves out to provide this service on items already owned by the customer. Wizards capable of reducing the temper times should find their services in high demand.

Some wizards prefer to produce large quantities of minor enchant projects (usually bringing items right up to the 4x minor/major cutoff) for sale. While the potential for profit is lower, the work is much easier.

Experience
The experience gained from a successful cast is based on the following formula:

{{equation box|<math> \mathrm{EXP} = (100 \cdot \mathrm{[Step\ of\ Enchant]}) - \mathrm{[Enchanter's\ Level]}</math>}}

For example, a level 50 wizard, making the third cast of an enchant would receive 250 experience.

:
( 100 × 3 ) - 50 = 250 XP

Negative Bonus Items
Items made from materials which naturally have a negative bonus have special handling within the Enchanting system. Such items require use of a potion appropriate for their relative bonus compared to an item with a 0 bonus for tempering, which can be determined by taking the actual bonus of the item and subtracting the natural bonus of the material. e.g. Modwir has a natural bonus of -10. A modwir bow with a bonus of -10 would be considered +0 (-10--10=0) and would require a rohnuru potion to temper, where a modwir bow with a bonus of +15 would be considered +10 (15--10=25) and would require a dirtokh potion to temper, though would still be considered a minor project.

One time purchases at any local alchemist's shop:
;* mortar and pestle
:These are required in order to mix the other ingredients together. Mortars cost about 4,000 silver, pestles roughly 1,000. Pestles can be placed inside the mortar for storage. *Note: Mortars need to be CLEANed to go between alchemy tasks and making crystals.
;* glass vial
:At least one vial is required to collect liquids with and then dose them out from the flask, roughly 12,500 silver.
;* small crystal flasks to store large quantities of each liquid
:Two flasks are recommended, each flask holds 20 vials' worth of one type of liquid. The cost is approximately 1,000 silver each. Liquid can be transferred with a vial using the POUR (verb).

Collecting Ingredients
Obtaining each ingredient can be a time-consuming task, it is recommended that one obtain multiple amounts each time they venture forth. One of each of the following is required for each batch of crystals:

;* a vial's measure of sea water
:Appropriate water can be collected in parts of Mist Harbor, Kharam Dzu, River's Rest, Solhaven and Wehnimer's Landing. Holding an empty flask or a flask partially filled with salt water in one hand COLLECT WATER WITH FLASK. 20 doses of sea water can be collected at once when using a small crystal flask.

;* a vial's measure of troll blood
:Blood can be collected from the bleeding corpse of any troll. Holding an empty vial in one hand COLLECT BLOOD FROM {troll}. Use crimson salt crystals to preserve the troll's corpse while collecting blood. This small sacrifice makes the task immensely easier.

:Troll blood effectiveness no longer caps at massive troll kings (level 63).

;* a moonflower
:Moonflowers can be foraged only during night hours in certain parts of Icemule Trace and the center room of the garden in Veythorne Manor.

Creating the Crystals
* Place all three ingredients into the mortar. Be sure to use a single measure of each liquid, and a single moonflower.
* Holding the mortar in one hand, and pestle in the other, PUSH MOONFLOWER WITH PESTLE. If the mortar has been updated to work with alchemy, the GRIND verb should be used.
* GRIND MOONFLOWER then GRIND MASH twice then GRIND SOLUTION
* PUSH MASH WITH PESTLE repeatedly until all of the ingredients are blended to "homogenous uniformity."
* PREP 719/CAST AT SOLUTION.
* Wait until the "dark flames around your mortar die down." The heat has fully cooked the solution, evaporating the remaining liquid. GET CRYSTALS FROM MY MORTAR, and they're ready to use.

INFARED: Undo revision 85327 by INFARED (talk)

Hollow soulstone wands were auctioned off at the Ebon Gate festival in 5106 in the cursed town of Velathae (two in Prime, one in Plat); one was released during Doughtman's 72nd run in Prime; another wand was released in each instance at Ebon Gate 2013 .

These wands assist a necromancer with the Animate Dead spell by (1) increasing the caster's MAL by 5 (able to go above the normal cap); (2) boosting the animate's level by 10 (stacks with a gem); and (3) when POINTed at an animate, will renew its duration and heal its wounds (costs 30 mana). They will also animate limbs removed via Limb Disruption that are not already animated.

Description
The wand is crafted out of hollowed soulstone filled with a viscous black substance. Upon closer examination, you notice that the viscous black substance appears to be some form of unnatural blood. The blood roils back and forth within its confines, as if it is whimsically taunting the pure white soulstone that contains it.

Usage
The wand has three different actions:

When WAVEd at a dead target, the wand will act as though crimson salt crystals made from the blood of a level 100 troll have been sprinkled over that target. The wave also adds 5 to a sorcerer's MAL (which may go above the standard maximum) and 10 to the animate's level, which may be stacked with a gem. The wand MUST BE HELD when casting Animate Dead at the body to receive this benefit. This has unlimited uses and requires no mana or materials.

When POINTed at an animate, the wand will refresh the animate to its original duration and instantly heal it completely (similar to Sacrifice Channel). This has unlimited uses, but costs 30 mana.

When WAVEd at a limb removed through the Limb Disruption (708) spell that has not animated already, it will cause the limb to animate and attack as it would had it been animated through the spell. This has unlimited uses, and it does not require mana or materials.

Loresong
This item has a loresong attached to it. It is a very dangerous item to sing to, however, and it will bring the bard quite close to death in the process. Anyone singing to the item should be exceedingly careful and should begin the process in good health.

<pre>
"You sing to your soulstone wand enthusiastically, eager to learn the ancient secrets trapped within the wand. Dark swirls of mana eddy around the soulstone wand, obscuring it from sight. You frantically jiggle your fingers around, trying to ward off the swirls, which have an almost gooey consistency. After a concentrated effort, you recover the wand but are still somewhat shaken by the thought that you almost lost your priceless artifact. "Perhaps the wand is not eager to reveal its past. Perhaps some things are best left buried in the sands of time."

"Your voice serenades the soulstone wand gently as you cautiously remember how you almost lost your precious soulstone wand. The wand hums in response to your song with an odd vibrating drone, which interferes with your song. You sense a powerful necromantic aura surrounding the wand as you are forced to bring your beautiful ditty to an end."

"As you weave your bardic magic upon the wand, you fall to the ground like a sack of potatoes. The world goes dark and you find yourself superimposed on another time when you reopen your eyes. Dressed in priestly robes, you are walking along the perimeter of an emerald altar humming low chants. A white-haired, muscular elf with bronzed skin is suspended over the altar bare-chested. "The vision fades but the memory of the act you are partaking in lingers."

"Your melodies bring you back into slumber, causing you to fall to the ground once again, hitting your head quite forcefully. "You regain your place in an eerie procession around the elven man whose body is held taut by leather straps running from the corners of the room. This time, though, the elf's body has several deep cuts running through it, slowly dripping blood into soulstone canisters on the altar below. A single golden key tattoo adorns his naked right breast. You are helpless to do anything but follow a pre-scripted role in the grotesque ritual. The man looks peacefully resigned to his fate and utters not a word as your vision fades."

"You sing to your soulstone wand, hopeful that you can stay awake, but are not so lucky. Perhaps the wand's story cannot bare the light of day. You fall to the ground, hitting your head solidly, as you leave consciousness. Awakened in an ethereal world, you glance at your fellow acolytes and notice that only some carry the symbols of a green serpent like yours. Some slowly circle the altar with small dagger-pierced heart pendants. "The vision of the white-haired man comes rushing back to you. At this point, he looks lifeless and pale, his wounds now only trickling ever decreasing drops of blood into the soulstones below. The leather straps are also drawn tighter, more painfully than before. He mutters bitterly as his life drains, "Lorminstra, false prophet, you have forsaken me."

"At the end of his utterance, a serpent suddenly appears at the center of the altar. You and the other acolytes look up in shock as the elven man's bindings come loose, destroying the makeshift prison. His fragile lifeless body slowly floats to the center of the altar, where the serpent kisses him."

"Your mind races with wandering thoughts; questions about the nature of the odd ceremony you witnessed. One final vision sets upon you..."

"The elven man, now cloaked in a hooded robe, is exiting the temple where you had inflicted so much torture upon him. He leaves a scene of massive death and carnage. You notice your own body, with that of your fellow priests strewn haphazardly around the emerald altar, lifeless and unmoving. The blood within the soulstone canisters has turned an unnatural black, testament to the darkness that it presided over. Not a single survivor is left amongst the once lively priests. The man exits the shrine, which promptly collapses. A green serpent slithers out through a crack in the rubble as the vision fades."

Hollow soulstone wands were auctioned off at the Ebon Gate festival in 5106 in the cursed town of Velathae (two in Prime, one in Plat); another wand was released in each instance at Ebon Gate 2013 and yet another was released during Doughtman's 72nd run.

<pre>

The Chrism gem is the Fourth Tier of the Holy Receptacle (325) spell, and allows a Cleric to help an individual find greater peace, whether to aid them in recuperation following death (removing some amount of Death's Sting based on the strength of the Chrism gem and speeding the return of health, mana, and spirit) or for a troubled soul in general (allows a character of any profession to meditate as a Cleric, Empath, or Savant). Highly sought after in invasions, Chrism gems are often considered to represent the pinnacle of a Cleric's lore training.

Requirements
To create a Chrism gem, a cleric must have:
*An orb gem with a value > 3000 silver
*25 + X mana: 25 for the spell, X being a variable cost (presumably based on value and lore)
*Spiritual Lore, Blessings: 10 ranks (50 skill)
*Spiritual Lore, Summoning: 15 ranks (70 skill)
*Spiritual Lore, Religion: 25 ranks (105 skill)

Chrism gems can only be used by clerics, but may be used by any cleric of at least level 18 with knowledge of the Raise Dead spell once created. F2P characters must have an active Resurrection Pass to use them successfully on corpses.

Lore Benefits
Benefits to Chrisms are derived off of ranks of Spiritual Lore, Blessings:

:{| prettytable align="center"
align="right"|Spiritual Lore, Blessings ranks||11||13||16||20||25||31||38||46||55||65
align="right"|Experience retained||55%||60%||65%||70%||75%||80%||85%||90%||95%||100%

Due to skill training level limitations, the earliest a cleric can create a 100% EXP chrism would be level 51 without enhancive items. As the lore training requirements would be 105 ranks total (15 Summoning + 25 Religion + 65 Blessing).

Creation
;Syntax - bless deity common 4
<prelog2>>bless deity common 4
You chant a quick prayer and the golden moonstone's outer shell becomes translucent and brittle. A cobalt liquid fills the once solid interior of the golden moonstone.

;Failure
A critical failure is possible, resulting in the destruction of the gem.
<prelog2>>bless deity common 4
You chant a quick prayer and the diamond becomes entirely too brittle in your hand, cracks, and blows away in the form of a fine powder.

After the Chrism gem has been prepared, LOOKing at it will reveal the strength of the Chrism gem.

;Syntax - look (gem)
<prelog2>>look moonstone
The now translucent outer shell of the almost full golden moonstone allows you to see the ordinary, cobalt liquid undulating.

;Strengths
Depending upon value of the gem used, Chrism gems have different effects on minimizing the effects of Death's Sting. These levels determine how much statistic recovery weakness will be mitigated when used on a corpse. There is no cap on the value of the gem used.

Glowing||?||>20k

Usage
Applying a Chrism gem is a simple process. If attempting to aid a corpse, simply WAVE the gem over them before casting Raise Dead. When using the gem upon a living character to aid them to a meditative state, one also WAVEs the gem, but with no need to cast any spell.

;Syntax - wave (gem) at (target)
<prelog2>>wave sunstone at XXX
You gingerly crack and wave the red sunstone over XXX's body and a mixture of oil and balsam trickles out of the sunstone, coating XXX with a cobalt blue liquid.
The red sunstone deteriorates into a cobalt powder that disperses into the wind.
