1. The Character must be a full citizen of, and maintain full citizenship in, Ta'Vaalor. 
2. There is no level, profession, or Arkati-worshiping restriction for joining. 
3. The character must not be a member of a militarily themed MHO or CHE. There are no other restrictions against membership in these organizations. 
4. The Account must have had no official warnings for the last 12 months. 
5. The Account cannot be F2P. 

Upon joining the Reserves, the elf is given his dress uniform and access to the Crimson Legion [[Title system|pre- and post-name titles]]. All members of the Reserves are welcome to join the Crimson Legion Discord server. https://discord.gg/bXNbsYx

== Army Rankings and Information ==
The Ranks The Crimson Legion will be overseen by the Lord Legionnaire Commander in charge of the defense of the Fortress. (A GM NPC, currently Cyik). At the time of implementation, positions for two Legionnaires will be made available and all existing ranks will be reevaluated based upon the new standards. Demotions for those who have not met the requirements may take place at this time. Upon further evaluation of performance and need, First Legionnaire and High Legionnaire may be appointed at the discretion of the Lord Legionnaire Commander. The ranks have already been established under the current structure and will not be changing. They are: Squire Legionnaire, Legionnaire, First Legionnaire, and High Legionnaire.

The Lord Legionnaire Commander in charge of defense of the Fortress of Ta'Vaalor will oversee the Crimson Legion. This position is always held by a GM NPC. This position holds total authority over the organization, and is responsible for, but not limited to, the following tasks:

* Approval and promotion of Legionnaires, First Legionnaires, and High Legionnaires
In case of any disputes/disagreements between Legion members, the Lord Legionnaire Commander intercedes. His decision is final.

* Aiding in defense of Ta'Vaalor during invasions and times of conflict
* Abiding by the laws of Ta'Vaalor and avoiding criminal activity

* Promoting a continued positive presence within the Fortress by maintaining beneficial relationships with the residents/citizens

=== Applying for Promotion ===
Promotions within the Crimson Legion are based solely upon the discretion of the Lord Legionnaire Commander based upon the Squire's performance.
Removal from the Crimson Legion is at the discretion of the Lord Legionnaire Commander. The Lord Legionnaire Commander will announce when he is accepting applications for promotion.

Please note that any official game warning will result in the termination of your membership within the Crimson Legion, leaving you unable to re-apply for another 12 months. Extreme circumstances may leave you unable to re-apply permanently.

Though the application is for a Legionnaire position (the first promotion) all positions use this application. Please substitute the rank you are applying for in the form.

== Crimson Legion Uniform ==
Every member of the Crimson Legion will receive a new uniform. There are no requirements to wear these, except during official ceremonies and bi-monthly events. The protection of innocents takes precedent over everything. You are encouraged to wear your uniform as much as possible when in the Fortress to show your Pride, Honor, and Glory and to let residents and citizens know of your position and expertise. 
Lost or damaged uniforms or badges can be replaced by the Lord Legionnaire Commander for a small fee of 100k. Despite this, reservists are strongly discouraged from misplacing of any piece of their uniform.

For a squire, the uniform constitutes:

* a dark crimson jacket adorned at the shoulders with gold braid tied into one knot of rank

Absolutely no cosmetic alterations to any piece of issued uniform gear are allowed. The uniform may be lightened and/or deepened, as appropriate, and scripts and enhancives may be added to a uniform item, just like any other item.

Should the reservist prefer, an existing item with more desirable properties may be altered into a uniform item. Not all alterers are comfortable doing this, and '''the reservist must surrender the original uniform piece at the time of the alteration'''.

* All Members of the Crimson Legion, regardless of rank, are expected to adhere to a code of conduct that maintains their clean record of citizenship within the town. Any actions seen as disruptive to the safety of the town and its people, or criminal in any way, will result in removal from the Crimson Legion.
* Removal from the Crimson Legion is at the discretion of the Lord Legionnaire Commander. Disruptive actions include, but are not limited to, violent acts against fellow townspeople and adventurers, endangering the town, association with criminal organizations, unlawful activity, extreme insubordination, and treason. No violence of any kind between members of the Crimson Legion will be tolerated and is grounds for immediate expulsion from the Legion with no opportunity to re-apply.

The dress uniform is optional and the recruit will be required to provide their own.

Jacket -
an embroidered crimson fustian jacket adorned with (appropriate knots of rank) - SHOW: Gold filigree embroidery along the lower portion of the sleeves adds a striking accent to the crimson material which forms the jacket. Adorned at one shoulder is a single gold shoulder-tied knot symbolizing rank, while a row of small, round gold buttons serve as a discreet closure down the front.

Cape -
a single-shoulder crimson silk half-cape - SHOW: Tailored from the finest silk, the half-cape is meant to be worn on a single shoulder and drape asymmetrically to the knee. Fine gold-hued vaalorn chains secure the piece to the wearer from the mid-back, to mid-chest. The wide-lapel along the neck adds a bit of flare to the otherwise simply elegant article of clothing.

Pants or Skirt -
a pair of gold-striped tailored crimson cotton pants - SHOW: Crimson dyed cotton has been expertly tailored and fashioned into a pair of crisply pleated pants. A strip of gold silk has been carefully stitched down the outside length of each leg.

A wreath of thirteen black serpents ring the '''abyran'ra''''s head, bestowing it a full crown of the twisting vipers as they writhe back and forth in an undulating, hypnotic fashion. Its pale, lidless eyes are devoid of pupils -- merely rippling with faint hints of color every few moments. Twin pairs of fangs peek out from beneath its thin lips, and the smoothness of its skin fades away into sleek scales below its abdomen, its lower body tapering into a massive, sinuous tail like that of a snake's. Its elongated, spindly fingers end in scythe-like black talons, their razored edges gleaming with the faintest light as they weave sinuous patterns in swift, slicing arcs
==Background==
While the abyran'ra are occasionally witnessed during invasions, they most commonly find their way to [[Elanthia]] from their natural habitat in the plane [[Lorae'tyr]] via a [[sorcerer]]'s failed attempt at [[Planar Shift (740)]]. At present, the '''lithe black abyran'ra''' are the only species of [[lesser demon]]s so summoned; whether this is simply a limitation of game design (coding more demons takes more time) or intentional from the theoretical mechanics of planar shifting (owing to the strange time dilation found only in Lorae'tyr) is unknown, though both are plausible.

==Hunting Stategies==
Reliably killing an abyran'ra is no easy feat. Although they spawn around a nominal level of 110, it is likely they will be higher level by the time an adequately prepared adventurer turns up who can pose a significant threat to the abyran'ra, meaning by this time it is approaching level 120.

As they would frequently attempt to [[725#Demon_Link_.26_Expiration|break a sorcerer's link]] with a [[minor demon]] of the [[abyran]] family (abyran'a or abyran'sa), a highly skilled demonologist has a distinct advantage if they have such a pet under their service. Namely, when the abyran'ra attempts to break the link, either the sorcerer or the abyran'ra will become stunned. With 200 ranks in [[Sorcerous Lore, Demonology|demonology]], careful testing has demonstrated that even the highest level abyran'ra can never succeed to break the link. As such, with the proper training, the clever summoner can take advantage of the abyrans' kinship causing the abyran'ra to repeated induce a stun on itself.

As with any other demons, a weapon must be enchanted at least eight times (8×) and blessed to successfully strike them. Although they are difficult to hit, most forms of attack will damage them. Spell casters are advised to avoid warding attacks, however, considering the abyran'ra's absurdly high TD; use bolts instead. Combat maneuvers are variable: feint is reliable when performed by a guild-mastered warrior, but they cannot be tackled, headbutt seems to have no effect, and they cannot be spell-cleaved while their barrier is up. Warcries also have a low chance of success (<10%) though are capable of working and at full effect if successful.

Repeated dispelling prior to attack is generally advised.

==Other Information==

===Raising and Sanctuaries===
As [[cleric|priests]], they are able to raise the dead, although this would require two of them in the room which is unusual. Even if one abyran'ra is killed and looted, another can cast a perpetual [[sanctuary]] immediately. The sanctuary does not dissipate and appears to be impossible to break even with an [[abyran'sa]]. It is unknown at this time if interference by a minor demon would prevent the sanctuary from being manifested. Once in their peaceful sanctuary, the abyran'ra appear quite content and do not leave the room.

===Despawning===
When introduced to the game via a failed Planar Shift, abyran'ra do not appear to de-spawn normally. This can be considered a mechanic similar to a creature spawned via a [[Adventurer%27s_Guild#Boss_creature|dangerous creature bounty]], where it is intended that the only recourse is for players to be forced to deal with the beast. To this end, they have been witnessed to stay in the game for days at a time (well...we'll know this is a fact in another few days...so far 12+ hours). If they have created a sanctuary, it is unclear if they would ever leave without manual GM intervention or a game reset.

===Hominid Spine Weapons===
Abyran'ra tend to arrive in Elanthia empty-handed, and so their only physical attacks are sinking their teeth into an adversary or a lash of the tail. However, once they achieve a kill (which is usually quite rapidly, considering their combat prowess), they can easily create a weapon from the fallen foe. They do this by ripping out a character's spine and setting it afire. The spines generally crumble, so it is difficult to determine their properties. It is possible to have a [[Minor Summoning (725)|minor demon]] pick one up and give it to you. They appear to be 2x according to the [[Abandoned Inn crystal]]; oddly, the difference in the AS between a bite and a spine attack is +20 and not +10.

With one swift, sharp *CRACK* of the whip-like bone, the blood drenching the bladed spine bursts into flames -- the rippling scarlet hue cast by the blaze washing over the abyran'ra's face in lurid waves.
