Hi, I got your message about the copywrite problems with my image. I created the image myself using Artflow.ai but I have literally no idea how to comply with your request and I can barely even understand it. I cant find the Discord page you linked to either. Could you please walk me through this step by step? I have almost no skill at coding or using the wiki...I created my page by simple cut and paste and rewriting.
Hello Kebechet! I did an oopsie last night and created a [[:Category:Profession Services|Profession Services]] category... and this morning, I realized there is a [[Player service]] page that should probably actually be the page used for the Profession Services category. Is there anyway that you know of to combine the two, under the 'Player Service' name/page? Thanks, and apologies for any hassles this has created! :Hello! I ran the topic by the Wiki team, and after confirming have consolidated the information. The category has been updated to be [[:Category:Profession services|Profession services]] to conform with the [[Gswiki:Style guide|Style guide]], and I have moved the preexisting article to [[Profession service]] to confirm with the standard term for the service type. Additionally, the article is indexed first (and linked in the explanation of) the category, so it is featured prominently as the article for detailed information on the services. The original category does not appear to be linked from anywhere, including Discord (as a cursory check), so I have deleted it to avoid some issues with category redirects on the wiki.
HOST-GSKEBECHET talk contribs‎ m 21,289 bytes −54‎ Updating categories; unofficial content such as player-written should avoid manually using the wiki's over-encompassing categories

Burghalgnome:Sorry was copying the format used by [[Modern Imperial History:5103 - Present]] and [[Protectorate]] both of which are player=written and have manually added categories. Perhaps you can explain.
:Hi there, BURGHALGNOME. In response to your question about the categories I adjusted on your article, [[Timeline - Imperial Northern Aggression]], this was done because the article is presented as a character-written essay and was labeled by you as player-written creative content. Typically, larger over-encompassing categories such as those for an entire nation or race are not appropriate for player-written creative content. However, smaller and more specialized categories, such as [[:Category:Wehnimer's Landing Independence]] are still very appropriate; those smaller categories are in turn lumped in with the larger categories to help facilitate users finding related articles. The examples you shared are standalone articles and not player-written creative content. There are tens of thousands of articles on the Gswiki, and if some are improperly categorized, other moderators or I adjust them as we run across them. This is usually, but not exclusively, based on which articles have had recent edits, which is why you likely have seen that many older articles are not necessarily in compliance with current Gswiki Style Guide standards.
:Hopefully this explanation helps you better understand why I adjusted the categories on your article. As an aside, if you ever need to add a "signature" to a something communicated via talk pages, you can do so by inserting <nowiki>~~~~</nowiki> following your message; while not required, it is an easy way to do so that is built into the Media Wiki software. Thank you again for all of your contributions to the Gswiki. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Thank you for the signature tip, if I understand what you are saying the reason this article was changed but the other timeline is not in need of a change is because I marked it as player written and it has a forward that implies it is in character, if I remove that the tags can be reapplied? [[User:BURGHALGNOME|BURGHALGNOME]] ([[User talk:BURGHALGNOME|talk]]) 09:54, 23 May 2024 (CDT)
:You're welcome. To answer your question, because you flagged the article as being a creative work, it is held to those specific standards ([[Gswiki:Style guide/Creative works]]) and is also not necessarily subject to other standards that apply to different types of articles. If the timeline is instead a general article, then it is held to those other standards outlined in the [[Gswiki:Style guide]]. This means that it may be heavily edited by many other users and is subject to presenting information in a neutral/in-universe point of view. If the creative-works template was added by mistake, then it is possible that some categories may be appropriate for adding back in if the template is removed. It would also mean that I review the content for any additional style guide requirements and make those adjustments as needed. For example, some of the character quotes may be removed entirely and some of the text changed to adhere to the style guide standards. If you have further questions, you are welcome to reach out to me however you may not get a timely response, in which case I suggest asking the Wiki team on the Gemstone [https://discord.com/channels/226045346399256576/1061330227843833926 Discord forum's wiki thread].
Thank you, I believe all the character quotes in the actual timeline are NPCs for the sake of context. I will discuss this with some other parties and decide on a direction. It may just make more sense to edit the other timeline with this information or to remove the template and leave it as is but that will depend on overall expectations. == Merchants template ==

I cobbled that template together in 2019, as a pet project, when things were a little more relaxed. So many people were "remember that one merchant? Where were they?? What did they look like??", that it felt like a good addition. Anyway, it was a build based on a template someone else had done, as you've likely read. I had planned on continuing work on it, then COVID hit and I turned into a homeschool teacher for two young teenagers.

Venues: the primary reason I changed those venues was because it was putting so many merchants into categories that didn't exist, and may not have been the best one for them to go into ''at the time''. By restricting category to "wandering" and others that already had a category made, it cut down on "red links"; '''wandering''' moved them into a common category and could be changed later. '''Generally speaking''', if they had a mention in their blurb as to what venue they attended, I removed the category that was causing a red link, although any that did not were likely an oversight (the notable exception being Elsia - I forgot to research her item, '''Fancy Coats''', so I could add the venue).

Towns: it was my intention to adapt the template to allow them to be placed into the category '''for that town'''. An example would be citizen-only merchants such as Duvernith or Davro. I admittedly got wrapped up in EG item-adding and had not gotten back to fixing the "town" venue to populate into town pages instead of '''Town''' NPCs, a category that doesn't exist, so I just left town uncategorized for the time being.

Many of those merchants I added myself with no real idea of what venues they had visited, in that hopes of at least having an appearance and a basic blurb to be expanded upon later. I had intended to continue with the work after EG and add category pages where appropriate. That section of the template might get pretty long for particularly industrious merchants! '''Wandering''' seemed like a good fit if they didn't have what might be considered a "primary festival" (for example, I wouldn't be surprised to see Elusionari in a lot of places!).

That said, I get that once you add a template, you basically lose any claim to it being "yours". However, no one else really took an interest in it, and I was told it would need work anyway, so I figured I was all right to try to adapt it to '''not''' use non-existent categories for the time being, since many (most?) of them had venue linked in the blurb or the body of the article. == Table updates ==

Hello! As I'm sure you've noticed, I've been going through and updating older items to the newer templates. A lot of them are simple, but some of them require more time; much more time in some cases. For those, fortunately, a lot them are more or less copy and paste for the verb lists with a few minor tweaks. I noticed that on a couple of them you've gone back and added in formatting for data tables for accessibility purposes. I read up on that today and I'll be sure to add that going forward, but I was wondering: Is there a way you are finding those that need it or are you just kind of seeing them as I'm doing them? I'd be more than happy to go back correct the formatting on those, but if there's a way I can find them more "wholesale" than "piecemeal", that would make the job easier. :Hi there! Part of my duties as one of our wiki mods are to review recent page changes to ensure that they are appropriate to the wiki, are accurate, are appropriately named as a page or subpage, and that they generally comply with the wiki style guide. So you'll see me doing things like updating pages to use new template standards, moving pages that aren't named properly, fixing redirects or broken links, updating categories, reviewing pages listed in [[:Category:Marked for Deletion]], and similar "moderator" type duties focused on overall wiki consistency that are not expected of general users who instead are adding new content to the wiki. One of the standards set out by the style guide and the wiki team is to ensure that the wiki is as accessible as possible to everyone, including our users who rely on a screen reader. If I run across any pages during my patrols that don't meet current standards, including tables that are not set up in a way for screen readers to properly capture, part of my job as a moderator is to update them accordingly. Since you have been incredibly active on the wiki over the past couple of months, I am much more likely to review your edits than other users due to sheer volume; that's why it might look like I'm going back to change pages you've touched more so than other users. Thanks for inquiring! If you'd like to know more about our moderator team or what our role is, I encourage you to ask on the Gemstone Discord's #wiki-talk channel where one of the GMs overseeing the wiki can chime in. == Northern Sentinel's Decree==
Hello! My intention with this page was to list only the legal characteristics of the Landing's protectorate status. I deliberately did not want to include the preamble and ending of the letter, as they did not carry legal weight. As such, I would like to revert it to a version which contains only those legal characteristics. In my view, a log page or official document page would be more appropriate for recording the entire letter. [[User:WBURKE1|WBURKE1]] ([[User talk:WBURKE1|talk]])
Given the nature of this specific article as well as the duplicate information between it and the article [[Protectorate]], I am waiting on confirmation on how best to handle it before taking any further action. After consulting with the wiki team, I have adjusted [[Northern Sentinel's Decree on the Imperial Protection of Wehnimer's Landing]] to show the previous version of the text instead of the log. I have updated text on the page to link to the log excerpt on [[Protectorate]] instead of referencing the article's talk page. I have also updated the article's Talk page to remove the previously saved log excerpt, to clarify what its purpose is, and to direct anyone viewing it to [[Protectorate#5123]], which is where the complete log excerpt is located.

As I explained to WINTERDAWN, generally speaking an article's Talk page is not an appropriate venue for archiving important information. I have transcluded the identically presented information from [[Protectorate]] onto [[Northern Sentinel's Decree on the Imperial Protection of Wehnimer's Landing]]. This should help ensure that the intent behind the original page, which is to succinctly state the terms of the Landing's Protectorate status, is maintained while still preserving information.

:Hi, WBURKE1. Thanks for reaching out to me! I am not ignoring your query; I am waiting on a response from the larger wiki team about how to approach this specific scenario with the article [[Northern Sentinel's Decree on the Imperial Protection of Wehnimer's Landing]]. As I explained to WINTERDAWN, generally speaking an article's Talk page is not an appropriate venue for archiving important information. Given the nature of this specific article as well as the duplicate information between it and the article [[Protectorate]], I am waiting on confirmation on how best to handle it before taking any further action. Unless another mod or GM weighs in before me, it will likely not be until next week that I can relay the final determination. I appreciate your patience and understanding with this. After consulting with the wiki team, I have adjusted [[Northern Sentinel's Decree on the Imperial Protection of Wehnimer's Landing]] to show the previous version of the text instead of the log. I have transcluded the identically presented information from [[Protectorate]] onto [[Northern Sentinel's Decree on the Imperial Protection of Wehnimer's Landing]]. This should help ensure that the intent behind the original page, which is to succinctly state the terms of the Landing's Protectorate status, is maintained while still preserving information. Could you please walk me through this step by step? I have almost no skill at coding or using the wiki...I created my page by simple cut and paste and rewriting.

Thank you,
PS if it would be easier on Discord, my username there is Avondell.
Go ahead and delete the image 'Bochser 1.jpg' I just uploaded it to test my script that would allow people to view character portraits in game by directing them to their Wiki character profile and I had no idea it would be such a hassle to just upload an image. - Tgo01
=== Timeline - Imperial Northern Aggression ===

::Hello again, WBURKE1. This should help ensure that the intent behind the original page, which is to succinctly state the terms of the Landing's Protectorate status, is maintained while still preserving information. I'm noticing that the wiki now has a 2mb file size limit when it used to be 5mb. Is this an unintended result of the recent update or is it intentional? This guide details all of the steps for advancement to Master in the Order of Voln. For details on joining, favor, symbols, titles, or resigning from the Order, visit the [[Order of Voln]] wiki page instead.

This Wiki is largely comprised of information recreated from the Arkati Archive originally authored by Kinsey Hines (aka Rumor Paramyr), and updated my Caithris Amhran. It was moved here from the Web Archive for the purposes of preservation and to make it easier to find. A link to the original will be included in the resources section at the bottom of the page.

==Basics of Advancement ==
Each step in Voln requires you to gain a certain amount of [[favor]] by slaying [[undead]] creatures. The amount of favor you have currently can be accessed using the RESOURCE verb in game. Once you have obtained the requisite amount of Favor for the step you are working on, you will visit the monk at the corresponding step (this will be the monk in the furthest room you can travel to in a given temple). If you have enough favor, the monk will take you aside and assign you a task to complete. Once you have gained enough favor and completed the task, the monk will teach you the next [[symbol]] and allow you to move on to the next step. Otherwise, the monk will inform you that you have not gained enough favor. Additionally, if you have already been given a task to complete but have not yet completed it, the monk will tell you that you as much. This guide will focus on giving you the information you need to successfully complete the tasks for each step.

==Wehnimer's Landing==
In the Temple near the Landing there is a room called The Healing Chamber in Lich Room 18213. To get there without Lich, from the Voln Courtyard -> go gate, east, east, go white door. There are several containers where helpful players have left many of the items you will need to advance through the steps.

===Step One===
[[Symbol of Recognition]]
All you need to do in order to get this symbol is join the Order. Instructions for that are included in the [[Order of Voln]] wiki.

===Step Two===
[[Symbol of Blessing]]
Eonak likes to give you a nice, hard, early challenge for this task. If you are familiar with making iron, this will be an easy step for you. If you aren't familiar with it, you may find the task daunting. If you are over 4, you will pretty much need directions if you don't know where the crucible is, if you are 4 or under, you can walk over to the Blacksmith and ask him for a job. He'll hand you a rough map on how to get to the Kobold Mines. Likely, however, there will be a slab of iron in the Healing Chamber and you will not have to do any of this.

Lich shortcut: ;go2 451, put iron in lake, ;go2 voln

To reach the mine area from the north gate, travel: SW, S, S, S, S, S, SE, E, E, Go Bridge, Climb Bank, NE, NW, N, N, NE, N, NE, NE, N, N, NW, Go Hole, Go Shrub. This will take you to the Charcoal Burner.

First, check to see if there is already some charcoal by typing: get charcoal. If there isn't any, you must make some. Type: Get Wood until you get a split log. Put the log in the burner. Next, type: Get Wood until you get a handful of tinder. Put the tinder in the burner. Now, type: Get Wood until you get two sticks. When you have one in each hand, type: Rub Sticks and you will start a fire in the burner. Wait for the cycle to finish and get your charcoal.

Now, after that, travel: Go Bush, Go Shadow, D, D, N. Search. Keep searching until you find a filthy flask of oil. Once the oil is found, travel: S, D, S, SEARCH WORKFACE. Keep searching until you hear a clang and iron ore falls to the ground.

Now, travel: N, U, Go Door. More likely than not, someone else is going to be making iron here (if you are playing Gemstone Prime). You will have to wait your turn. You may also find a kind hearted soul that will let you have a heavy slab of iron. If you can't make a deal, when it's your turn, you'll need to make your own. To make your own, do the following:

Put ore in crucible, put the charcoal in there too. You can put up to 4 iron ores into the crucible and make 4 slabs if you like. Now, type: Turn Valve. It should close under your hand. Next, travel: E. Get your oil out and type: Pour Oil in drum. Next, Pull Chain and then Pull Bellows. If you are a halfling, you will need assistance. Now, travel: W and Turn Valve (it should then Open). Travel: E and Pull Chain, Pull Bellows, Pull Chain, Pull Bellows. Travel: W and wait for the cycle to finish. Once it's finished, type: Get Iron.

Now, you need to deliver the iron to the Lake. Travel from your current location: Go Door, U, U, Out, Out, SE, S, S, SW, SW, S, SW, S, S, SE, SW, Climb Bank, Go Bridge, W, W, NW, SW, S, SE, S, SE, S, S, S, SW, E, NE. Now, type: Put Iron in Lake. You should finish the task at this point.

Return the Voln by traveling: SW, W, NE, N, N, N, NW, N, NW, N, NE, SE, E, E, Go Bridge, E, NE, N, N, Go Trail, E, E, E.

===Step Three===
[[Symbol of Thought]]
Oleani is the patron lady for this step along the path. For this step, you will need to forage for a small rose. There are several places that you can forage for one. You can forage for one in the room north of the North Gate, In the Small Park and Niche, as well as Sovyn Courtyard. You can also just buy a rose from the florist. There is likely a rose in the Healing Chamber.

Lich shortcut: ;go2 6315, put rose on altar, ;go2 18210

Once you find a rose, you need to go to the Wedding Glade. From the north gate, travel: NW, S, Go Path, Go Arch. Put the rose on the altar.

=== Step Four ===
[[Symbol of Diminishment]]
Lord Cholen is the patron of this symbol. He's a pretty jolly guy, so this step isn't too hard. Head back to town and stop by the bank. You need to drop coins in accordance with your level.

Lich shortcut: ;go2 311, drop coins, sing I dance to honor Lord Cholen; Who brings us joy and fun; I sing such greatly praises; Today and forever more; Be joyous for all time, my friends!, ;go2 18209

From the bank, travel: E, SE, S, S, E, E, E, E, E, E, E, E, N. Drop the coins, and type: sing I dance to honor Lord Cholen; Who brings us joy and fun; I sing such greatly praises; Today and forever more; Be joyous for all time, my friends! The poor should come out and gather up the coins and sing with you.

===Step Five===
[[Symbol of Courage]]
For this step, you need to honor Lord Jastev.

Lich shortcut: ;go2 4140, recite Lord Jastev is a sullen soul.; Lord Jastev is artistic indeed.; Lord Jastev the self-possessed.; Lord Jastev is morbid true; Lord Jastev serious, too., ;go2 18208

Head over to the graveyard gate. Travel from the Voln Courtyard: W, W, W, Go trail, S, Go Trail, E, E, N, NE (Repeat N, NE until you exit the puzzle), Go Trail, Go Path. Now, type: recite Lord Jastev is a sullen soul.; Lord Jastev is artistic indeed.; Lord Jastev the self-possessed.; Lord Jastev is morbid true; Lord Jastev serious, too. Return to Voln by traveling: Go Path, Go Trail, S, SW (Repeat SW until you exit the puzzle), W, Go Trail, N, Go Trail, E, E, E.

===Step Six ===
[[Symbol of Protection]]
Imaera likes for folks to visit her shrine, so all of her tasks involve going to her island near the Relk Village. This can be an easy step, it can also be hard. (In Prime, it's fairly easy since acorns are more common.). Go to TSC and get an acorn. Sometimes, you will have to wait until one drops. There is likely an acorn in the Healing Chamber.

Lich shortcut: ;go2 6459, kneel, bury acorn, ;go2 18207

Once you have an acorn, from the North Gate, travel: SW, S, S, S, S, S, SE, E, E, Go Bridge, Climb Bank, NE, NW, N, N, NE, N, NE, NE, N, N, NE, N, Climb Rockslide, E, SW, S, E, N, N, N, N, SE, S, SE, SE, E, E, Go Path, NW, NE, E, E, SW, D, SE, Go Shore, Swim Water, Swim Island, Go Island, Kneel, Bury Acorn. To Get back to Voln, travel: Go Water, Swim Water, Swim Bank, Go Shore, NW, U, NE, W, W, SW, SE, Go path, W, W, NW, NW, N, NW, S, S, S, S, W, N, NE, W, Climb Rockslide, S, SW, S, S, SW, SW, S, SW, S, S, SE, SW, Climb Bank, E, NE, N, N, Go Trail, E, E, E.

===Step Seven===
[[Symbol of Submission]]
Charl is pretty fierce, and a stickler for things. First, you need a piece of coral. Any piece of coral will do, but it must be coral. Other gems will not work. There is likely some coral in the Healing Chamber.

Lich shortcut: ;go2 7653, put coral, ;go2 18206

Next, you must travel to Charl's Shrine. From the North Gate, travel: NW, NW, NW, Go Road, W, W, NW, W, W, W, NW, NW, W, W, SW, W, W, W, SW, W, Go Path, E, D, D, D, Go Boulder, S, Swim Open. Now, just drop the coral. Follow the directions in reverse to return to the gate, except instead of "Go Boulder", you just go out.

===Step Eight===
[[Kai's Strike]]
This is the Voln step, commonly referred to as "strike" that will let you fight undead without the use of blessed weapons or garments. You will need to travel to Kai's Temple and honor the good Lord Kai, master of unarmed combat.

Lich shortcut: ;go2 6960, go arch, say Kai, I challenge you to wrestle!, (fight using throw, punch, and kick); out, go2 voln

From the North Gate, travel: SW, S, W, SW, SW, S, W, W, U, N, Go Tree, U, U, Go Arch. Make sure your hands are free, then type: 'Kai, I challenge you to wrestle!' Make sure you say it out loud. Kai will appear with a big grin on his face. You will not be injured during the battle. Use the following verbs during your battle: Throw, Punch, Kick. You need to stand up when he tosses you to the ground or else it will take longer. Eventually, he will finally whisper to you that you win.

=== Step Nine===
[[Symbol of Holiness]]
Phoen loves to challenge you, and make you go through some pretty perilous places to complete his tasks. This is the second Voln Fu step. If you are young, you should probably get an escort to go with you, or have someone set a ring. Arch Wights are rather nasty creatures, with clouds, boil earth, and assorted other ways to kill you, especially since you'll be carrying a candle votive through their quarters.

lich shortcut: ;go2 bank, withdraw 100, ;go2 1244, order 16, buy, ;go2 18204, light votive, ;go2 7229 (if you cannot open the graveyard gate, you will need help to get in there), wave votive, ;go2 voln

First, visit the cleric shop in the Landing. From TSC, travel: E, E, E, S, S, Go Shop. Take about 100 coins, you will come out with change. Next, head back to Voln and along the path where the monk talked to you. At the lamp, type: light votive with lamp. If you have to go yourself, head to the courtyard and set your ring. Now, travel: W, W, W, Go Trail, S, Go Trail, E, E, N, NE (Keep alternating N and NE until through the puzzle), Go Trail, Go Path. Get the gate open (either using 407 or 309, or pushing it), Go Gate, Go Crypt, Go Arch, E, Type: 'Shadow bind my soul (typing SAY will not work, if I recall correctly), S, Go Ramp, N, W, W, N, Go Corridor, NE, NE, Go Pile, D, D, E, N, N, Out, N, Go Grating, D, D, N, N, NE, Go Stair. Now, type: Wave Votive. Remove your ring and wear it.

===Step Ten ===
[[Symbol of Recall]]
Lorminstra must figure since you risked your neck in the last step, she'd make this one easier. You need a fresh herb (surely you have some… if not, then go buy one!). Generally, a nice acantha leaf will work.

Lich shortcut: ;go2 7523, put leaf on altar, pray, ;go2 voln

From TSC, travel: E , E, E, S, S, E, Go Temple, Go Altar. Now, type: put leaf on altar. Then type: pray That's all there is to it.

===Step Eleven===
[[Symbol of Sleep]]
Here's another nice and easy step for you. You need to go see Ronan who is the master of dreams, and take a quick nap.

Lich shortcut: ;go2 7926, lie down, wait for Ronan to ask you a question, 'life, ;go2 voln

From the North Gate, travel: SW, W, S, SW, SW, S, S, S, S, S, SW, Go Footpath, S, S, SE, SW, S, S, E, Go Mountain Pass, Go Trail, U, U, Go Path, Go Water, Go Arch. Now, type: lie down. Soon, you will fall into a deep slumber. You will be visited by Ronan and he will then ask you a question. When this occurs, type: 'life. He will then be appeased.

===Step Twelve ===
[[Symbol of Transcendence]]
Lumnis is the patron of this symbol. She merely asks that you seek out Rone Wehnimer's Grave and answer her question.

Lich shortcut: ;go2 7262 (if you cannot open the graveyard gate, you will need help to get in there), search, search, 'Koar, ;go2 voln

From the Voln Courtyard, travel: W, W, W, Go Trail, S, Go trail, E, E, N, NE (N, NE until you exit the puzzle), Go Trail, Go Path, Go Gate (You will grow to hate this gate.), NE, N, N, NW, Go Trail, NE, N, W, NW, NW, SW, W, Go Path, E. Now, type: search twice. Lumnis will ask you a question. The appropriate response, if you know anything about the Gods of Elanith at all is of course: 'Koar'. Lumnis will be happy with you.

===Step Thirteen===
[[Symbol of Mana]]
This is another of the easy series of steps. You will need to appease Koar, the Master of Mana and the King of the Gods, for this one.

Lich shortcut: ;go2 7544, kneel, 'I have come to honor Koar, master of mana. (must be precise, including the period), ;go2 voln

From TSC, travel: Go Well, Climb Rope, Kneel. Type: 'I have come to honor Koar, master of mana. You must type this correctly, even the period, or else it won't work. If you want to take full advantage of this task, use up your mana before you speak. You'll see what I mean. Return to Voln for your symbol.

=== Step Fourteen ===
[[Symbol of Sight]]
You will once again honor Tonis for this step. You need to deliver a message for Tonis, to ease the burden of a poor soul.

Lich shortcut: ;go2 500, 'You have not been forgotten., ;go2 voln

From the north gate, travel: NW, NW, NW, Go Road, W, W, NW, W, W, W, NW, NW, W, W, SW, W, W, W, SW, W, W, NW, W. Now, type: 'You have not been forgotten.

===Step Fifteen===
[[Symbol of Retribution]]
Eonak guards this step. You need to seek out one of his creations to gain his favor.

Lich shortcut: ;go2 7542, touch broadsword, ;go2 voln

From TSC, travel: Go Well, Climb Rope, S, Climb Rubble, E, E, E, N, N, NW, W. You will need both hands free. Then type: pull cress. Now, type: touch broadsword and Eonak will be happy.

===Step Sixteen ===
[[Symbol of Supremacy]]
You need to honor Oleani once more for this step. She's a flower nut, so, you need to go buy a dozen Bridal Blush roses (apparently, sometimes, the monk will ask you to purchase a different kind of rose). Stop by the bank and withdraw some silver, depending on your bargaining skill, this could run you anywhere from 5-10k.

Lich shortcut: ;go2 bank, withdraw 10000, ;go2 8715, order 4, buy, ;go2 234, put (100 times your level) silvers in almsbox, ;go2 4042, put roses

In case you forgot how to get to the florist, from the bank, travel: E, E, E, E, S, S, E, E, N, Go Florist. Haggle a bit and get your roses. Once you have those, travel: Out, S, W, (put 100 silvers times your level in the almsbox -- confirmed required by Dema), Go Temple, Go White Arch, Go Pink Arch, Drop Roses/Put them on the altar.

===Step Seventeen===
[[Symbol of Restoration]]
Cholen's second step is designed to teach you humility. But, the upside is you only really have to act silly in front of one other member of Voln. Having one or ten people won't make it go any faster. You need to make your way to the Roof of the Museum for this step.

Lich shortcut: ;go2 15567, use act verb to make your volunteers laugh, ;go2 voln

From TSC, travel: E, E, E, S, S, E, E, Go Museum, Climb Stair, Go Arch, Go Onyx Arch, go Ebon Arch, Go Door, Search, Climb Stairs, Climb Rope.

You will need to use the act verb to attempt to make your volunteers laugh. Regular laughing works best with no arguments. You will need to perform five to ten act commands and get laughs, as well as laugh yourself. Eventually, you should hear Cholen laugh with you.

===Step Eighteen===
[[Symbol of Need]]
Jastev's second task will show you a prophetic vision. You need to seek out a shrine in a fisherman village and touch it.

Lich shortcut: ;go2 524, touch shrine, ;go2 voln

From the North Gate, travel: NW, NW, NW, Go Road, W, W, NW, SW, S, SW, SE, S, S, SW. Here, you will need to type: touch shrine. You will receive a vision from Jastev and complete the task.

===Step Nineteen===
[[Symbol of Renewal]]
Once again, Imaera wants you to come to her island. You don't need anything special for this one, however.

Lich shortcut: ;go2 6459, stow left, stow right, kneel, pray, pray, bow deer, ;go2 voln

From the North Gate, travel: SW, S, S, S, S, S, SE, E, E, Go Bridge, Climb Bank, NE, NW, N, N, NE, N, NE, NE, N, N, NE, N, Climb Rockslide, E, SW, S, E, N, N, N, N, SE, S, SE, SE, E, E, Go Path, NW, NE, E, E, SW, D, SE, Go Shore, Swim Water, Swim Island, Go Island. You should be empty handed to do this step. It seems to not work if you are wielding. Now, you need to type: kneel and then: pray twice. When you see the deer emerge from the forest, type: bow deer. That's all there is to it. To Get back to Voln, travel: Go Water, Swim Water, Swim Bank, Go Shore, NW, U, NE, W, W, SW, SE, Go path, W, W, NW, NW, N, NW, S, S, S, S, W, N, NE, W, Climb Rockslide, S, SW, S, S, SW, SW, S, SW, S, S, SE, SW, Climb Bank, E, NE, N, N, Go Trail, E, E, E.

===Step Twenty===
[[Symbol of Disruption]]
Obviously, you will need to honor Charl again for this step. It doesn't take too much effort to satisfy him this time. He just wants your silvers. Use 100 Silvers multiplied by your level.

Lich shortcut: ;go2 bank, withdraw (level times 100) silvers, ;go2 7644, drop (level times 100) silvers, ;go2 voln

To reach the dock from the North Gate, travel: NW, NW, NW, Go Road, W, W, NW, W, W, W, NW, NW, W, W, SW, W, W, W, SW, W, Go Path, W, W, W, W, W, W, N, Go Dock, N, N, N, N, N, D, D. Here you need to drop those coins. Charl will be happy.

=== Step Twenty One===
[[Kai's Smite]]
Be prepared for a four day journey to complete this task. It's not really an arduous journey, but you'll get to see some scenery. You need to venture towards Cavernhold and drop a broadsword (or pretty much any weapon, actually) into a pool. Stop by the arms shop in town and purchase a broadsword, they cost about 250 silvers.

Lich shortcut: ;go2 bank, withdraw 250, ;go2 402; order 7, buy, ;go2 8572, drop broadsword in pool, ;go2 voln

From the North Gate, travel: SW, S, S, S, S, S, SW, S, SE, S, SE, S, S, S, SW, S, S, SE, SE, SW, W, S, S, S, S, SE, SE, NE, NE, E, E, Go Bridge, SE, S, SE, S, E, E, E, S, Search (you may need to search several times in order to find the crevice), Go Crevice, SE, Climb Rubble, S, Climb Rubble, SE (15 second rt.), SE (15 second rt.), E (15 second rt.), E (15 second rt.), Go Trail, D, D, E, S, SE. Here, you need to type: drop broadsword in pool. This will please the good Lord Kai. Simply reverse the directions to get back to town.

=== Step Twenty Two===
[[Symbol of Turning]]
Once again, you must honor Phoen. You will need a blue crystal for this step. Phoen seems to thrive on sending you off to dangerous places, and of course this step is no different. You may get to see a fire guardian up close. Nothing beats being engulfed in a fire cloud.

Lich shortcut: ;go2 4131, drop blue crystal in lava, ;go2 voln

From the North Gate, travel: SW, S, S, S, S, S, SW, S, SE, S, SE, S, S, S, SW, S, S, SE, SE, SE, SE, SE, E, E, NE, E, E, E, Go Trail, N, NE, E, SE, E, NE, N, NE, N, N, N, Go Trunk, NW, NE, U, N, U, U, W, W, NW, NW, Go Gash, D, D, D, D, N, NE, E. At this location, you will want to type: drop blue crystal in lava. To get back to Voln, travel: W, SW, S, U, U, U, U, Go Mouth, SE, SE, E, E, D, D, S, D, SW, SE, Go Trunk, S, S, S, SW, S, SW, W, NW, W, SW, S, Go Trail, W, W, W, SW, W, W, NW, NW, NW, NW, NW, N, N, NE, N, N, N, NW, N, NW, N, NE, SE, E, E, Go Bridge, E, NE, N, N, Go Trail, E, E, E.

===Step Twenty Three===
[[Symbol of Preservation]]
Once again, you need to honor the Lady Lorminstra. You will need to have an extra deed to spare for this step, since you must give one away. You need to visit the altar of Lorminstra to complete this step, and you must also seek out someone who has no deeds, which makes this step a bit more difficult.

Lich shortcut: ;go2 7523, 'Lorminstra give [person with no deeds] my deed., ;go2 voln

To get to the altar from TSC, travel: E, E, E, S, S, E, Go Temple, Go Altar. Once there, to complete the task, type: 'Lorminstra, give [person] my deed. As I said, it will need to be someone with no deeds. You can choose to take someone with you who needs one, or wait and hope you can catch someone who happens to decay to meet the requirement, which to me, seems rather morbid.
You need at least two deeds as you cannot give away your last one.

===Step Twenty Four ===
[[Symbol of Dreams]]
You once again need to honor Ronan for this step. This is considered by some to be the most difficult Voln step, and rarely do people look forward to it. You need to scale Melghoren's Reach for this step and lie on the Onyx Altar and allow a moonbeam to strike you.

Lich shortcut (sort of): ;go2 14728, follow instructions starting below climb platform

From Voln, travel: W, W, W, Go Trail, S, S, SW, W, Go Bridge, W, W, NW, SW, S, SE, S, SE, S, S, S, SW, E, NE, Go Path, Go Opening, Climb Platform (may have to try several times), Turn Wheel, D, Out, Go Bridge, E, E, E, Go Slope (it may take several tries to get up the slope, make sure you go on this journey AS LIGHT AS POSSIBLE. Have someone hold your junk if you have to.), W, W. Now, you have to deal with the runes, which are enough to give some folks a fit.

If the Z rune is over the E, press Z. If the S rune is over the E, press O. If the O rune is over the E, press R. If the R rune is over the E rune, press S. Just look at them to see which one to push next. If you get "nothing happens", when you push a rune, you need to push E to reset and look at them again and start over. This may take multiple tries.

Here is a nice little list:

*O rune, press R
*R rune, press S
* Z rune, press Z
* S rune, press O
*nothing happens, press E

Once the stair is in place, travel: Go Stair, W, Close Dam. Now, you will need to wait for the cab to arrive. It can take up to ten minutes. Just be patient, I know it's annoying. Once it arrives, type: open dam and then: go cab. Another waiting game. You will need to wait until the cab stops.

When it does, travel: Out, Go Fog. Now, type: search until you feel the wall. Then, type: search wall, climb vine, go opening. You should now be in the Temple with the Onyx Altar.

You will once again need to wait. When you see "Suddenly a beam of moon light peeks through several tiny holes in the intricate ceiling…" type: lie on altar. Now, you need to get out.

You're going to have to take the water tunnels. So, lets do that. Type: Go Shaft, Go Opening, Lie Down. Immediately, as soon as you move to the next room, type: lean left. Don't do anything again until you see "Suddenly the tunnel turns into a nearly vertical drop" is in the room description. Type: lean left. Things will go quick, but as soon as you see "just ahead the tunnel splits left and right" type: lean left. Now wait until you are out. It shouldn't take long really.

If you missed the first lean left, wait until you see the tunnel splits left and right, where you are gulping at bubbles, lean right, and try again from the beginning.

===Step Twenty Five===
[[Symbol of Return]]
You will need to honor Lumnis again for this step. Some say this too, is a difficult task. You must seek out a hermit who lives under a sand castle and he will ask you a short quiz in which the questions constantly change. You need to go alone for this task.

Lich shortcut: ;go2 7626, follow directions below on how to find the hermit and answer his question and then leave, ;go2 voln

From the North Gate, travel: NW, NW, NW, Go Road, W, W, NW, W, W, W, NW, NW, W, W, SW, W, W, W, SW, W, Go Path, W, W, W, W, W, W, W, W, W, W, W, W, W. Now, type: lie, search sand, push sand. Now, make sure you are lying down. Type: search. Keep searching until you find stairs. Stand up, and type: Go Stair. Lie down again. Type: search. Keep searching until you find a curtain. Stand up again, and type: Go Curtain. Lie down again, and type: search. Keep searching until you find a pot. When you do, type: ask hermit about task. He will ask the three questions. If you have a problem remember the answer, be sure to take a look at my copy of the Voln Monk text. To get out of here, simply search for the things in reverse order.

===Step Twenty Six===
[[Symbol of Seeking]]
There is no task for this step. Consider it a gift for working so hard.

In addition to Symbol of Seeking, people Mastered in Voln also receive the Symbol of Invitation.

Symbol of Invitation allows you to invite someone into the Order, much as the Grizzled Warrior does.

==Basics of Advancement==

==Wehnimer's Landing==
In the Temple near the Landing there is a room called The Healing Chamber in Lich Room 18213. To get there without Lich, from the Voln Courtyard -> go gate, east, east, go white door. There are several containers where helpful players have left many of the items you will need to advance through the steps.

===Step One===
[[Symbol of Recognition]]
All you need to do in order to get this symbol is join the Order. Instructions for that are included in the [[Order of Voln]] wiki.

===Step Two===
[[Symbol of Blessing]]

===Step Three===
[[Symbol of Thought]]

===Step Four===

===Step Five===

===Step Six===

===Step Seven===

===Step Eight===

===Step Nine===

===Step Ten===

===Step Eleven===

===Step Twelve===

===Step Thirteen===

===Step Fourteen===

===Step Fifteen===

===Step Sixteen===

===Step Seventeen===

===Step Eighteen===

===Step Nineteen===

===Step Twenty===

===Step Twenty One===

===Step Twenty Two===
[[Symbol of Turning]]

===Step Twenty Three===
[[Symbol of Preservation]]

===Step Twenty Four===

*Z rune, press Z
*S rune, press O

===Step Twenty Five===

===Step Twenty Six===

Amazing Alpaca Adventures

KVOTHETBL: /* How do I upgrade my alpaca's stats? */

==What is Amazing Alpaca Adventures==

"Amazing Alpaca Adventures" is a game that is played before a Dreavening starts. It is also known as AAA.

==How do I join?==

Simply whisper JOIN to Dreaven before or during a Dreavening to receive your alpaca. Note you can't whisper JOIN to Dreaven while a race is going on, well you can but you won't receive your alpaca.

Once you have received your alpaca you can play AAA simply by being at the table when the race beings. If AAA is chosen as the game to be played the race starts at around the 11 minute mark of the countdown to when the Dreavening starts, giving you about 4 minutes to get to Dreaven's table once the 15 minute countdown is announced.

==How do I play?==

Your alpaca does most of the work. There are 10 rounds where your alpaca has to run as far as they can. Each round is broken down into 4 phases.

There is a "speed" phase where your alpaca moves a number of meters based on their speed stat. Your alpaca also has stamina that goes down in every speed phase depending on how high their speed is, if their stamina reaches zero they lose a meter and speed for the rest of the race depending on which division the are in. Alpacas don't start to lose speed until division 2. Stamina is replenished after it reaches zero or by finding a fountain before it reaches zero.

There is an "endurance" phase that checks to see if your alpaca has enough endurance to keep going at the pace of their speed. Not enough endurance results in a loss of meters. The less endurance your alpaca has compared to how much endurance it needs the more meters it will lose. If your alpaca's endurance is high then it has a chance to gain bonus meters. The higher your alpaca's endurance the greater benefit they might receive.

There is a "luck" phase which is a chance for your alpaca to find and enter a portal that will give them a boost in meters. The amount of meters the portal boosts is determined by their speed and luck stats.

All three of these phases are invisible to you and your alpaca does all of the work. Dreaven will whisper you after each round to explain how your alpaca did during each phase.

The fourth and final round is an event phase. There are two different event phases; interactive events and non-interactive events.

During an interactive event Dreaven will whisper you a predicament your alpaca has found itself in. You will be provided with 3 options that you must choose from, whisper Dreaven the number of the option you want your alpaca to choose.

Here is an example of an interactive event:

"In a clearing up ahead Number 99999 notices a rather large sign reading "Drink me for a boost of speed!" Unfortunately there are three potions below the sign. What should Number 99999 do? Whisper to me just the NUMBER of the answer you want to choose: 973) Drink the blue potion., 1164) Drink the yellow potion., 467) Drink the red potion.."

In this case you would whisper to Dreaven either 973, 1164, or 467. Note these numbers are always random so keep an eye out.

Non-interactive events are events in which your alpaca does all of the work, meaning no input from you is required. Success of non-interactive events depends on the stats of your alpaca. There are events for each of the 6 stats and Dexterity provides a bonus for each event. For example if an Endurance event is chosen then success will depend on your alpaca's Endurance stat and Dexterity stat.

==What are my alpaca's stats?==

Your alpaca's primary stat is speed. Speed has its own cost to upgrade, which is 100 * speed's current value. For example if your alpaca has 3 speed it would cost 300 tokens to upgrade it to 4.

'''Speed''' makes your alpaca run faster so it can cover more ground.

Your alpaca has two secondary stats. Secondary stats share a cost, which is 50 * the sum of all secondary stats. For example if your alpaca has 2 endurance and 5 luck it would cost 350 tokens to upgrade either endurance or luck.

'''Endurance''' helps your alpaca maintain its current speed. If endurance is too low your alpaca will need to take breaks which will result in a loss of meters each round.

'''Luck''' helps your alpaca in just about every way. It has a chance to provide a boost of speed during the speed phase of the race, it can negate any penalties during the endurance phase if your alpaca's endurance is low, it can energize your alpaca during the endurance phase if your alpaca has a lot of endurance, it has a chance of allowing your alpaca to find a fountain to replenish its stamina, it has a chance of allowing your alpaca to find a portal every round, if your alpaca initially fails a non-interactive event luck can provide it with a second chance to succeed. Dreaven will whisper to you clues informing you when your alpaca has been lucky.

Your alpaca has three tertiary stats. Tertiary states share a cost, which is 25 * the sum of all tertiary stats. For example if your alpaca has 3 Dexterity, 6 Intelligence, and 5 Charisma then the next upgrade will cost 350 tokens.

'''Dexterity''' provides a small bonus to your alpaca to succeed during all non-interactive events. This bonus even applies to Dexterity events.

'''Intelligence''' gives all stats a small boost at the beginning of the race. Intelligence does not boost itself.

'''Charisma''' allows your alpaca to earn bonus tokens. This bonus is applied whenever your alpaca earns tokens.

'''Stamina''' determines how far your alpaca can move before it needs to take a rest to replenish their stamina. When this happens your alpaca loses some meters and speed for the rest of the race. Your alpaca has a chance depending on its luck to find a fountain that will replenish their stamina before they run out. How much speed your alpaca loses depends on which division they are in, alpacas in division 0 and 1 do not lose speed. Your alpaca's stamina is also determined by which division they are in.

==How do I upgrade my alpaca's stats?==

<<This section does not explain how to upgrade stats, just the ins and outs of tokens. Please add information about how to whisper or ;chat Dreaven to change your stats>>

Tokens are required to upgrade your alpaca's stats.

There are several ways to earn tokens.

Some random events will award tokens if you are successful.

You will earn 3000 tokens for placing first in your division after a race, 2000 for second, and 1000 for third.

You can also earn tokens for placing overall in a race. Placing first overall awards you with 1500 tokens, 1000 for second, and 500 for third.

You receive 1000 tokens as a participation bonus for playing in a race.

You also receive 1 token for every meter your alpaca moves during a race.

==Can I rename my alpaca?==

You sure can! Your alpaca's name is their number when they first start out, but once they have proven themselves a worthy racing alpaca you unlock the ability to rename them.

Your alpaca can be renamed once they have placed first in a division during a race or after they have participated in 10 total races.

You can also choose Male or Female for their gender. Alpacas start out as a Neutral gender and you can choose to keep this as their gender if you wish.

To change your alpaca's name and gender send an LNet message to Dreaven requesting the name and gender change. To see if your alpaca can be renamed do "alpaca stats" on the Dreavening LNet channel.

==That's all fine and good, but can I customize my alpaca's appearance?==
You sure can, silly billy!

The list below shows what features you can customize on your alpaca, their default look, and how many races your alpaca must participate in before you can customize that feature.

<pre{{log2|margin-right=350px}}>

==All about those jockeys!==

You can choose a class for your jockey and your jockey has all sorts of tricks up their sleeve to help your alpaca win!

The default jockey class is Commoner, this class isn't anything special and you can change it right away by whispering to Dreaven while a race is not happening:

whisper dreaven class bard

As an example. Here are the options for your jockey's class:
<pre{{log2|margin-right=350px}}>
Barbarian: Prime stat is Endurance.
Bard: Prime stat is Luck.
Moon Mage: Prime stat is Intelligence.
Ranger: Prime stat is Ranger.
Thief: Prime stat is Thief.
Trader: Prime stat is Charisma.

Each class has certain skills they specialize in. Your jockey can use any skill from any class, but they receive a bonus when attacking with a skill their class specializes and they receive a bonus defending against an attack from their specialized class. For example Barbarian jockeys have a skill called "Hamstring", if your jockey uses Hamstring against another alpaca then your jockey gets a bonus to their attack roll, if another jockey attempts to use Hamstring against your Barbarian jockey's alpaca then your jockey gets a bonus to their defensive roll.

Your alpaca also receives a bonus to their stat depending on what their jockey's stat is. For example alpacas receive a bonus to their Luck stat if their jockey is a Bard.

Here are the skills your jockeys can use and the class specialty they fall under:

<pre{{log2|margin-right=350px}}>
Ranger skills:
1) Lightning Bolt(attack): Attempt to conjure a lightning bolt to strike the alpaca in front of you. A successful cast results in the alpaca in front of you only moving 1 meter for the current round. Base success chance is 30%.</pre>

<pre{{log2|margin-right=350px}}>
Bard skills:
1) Super Portal (attack): Your jockey attempts to cast a powerful spell to summon a Super Portal. If successful your alpaca will rush straight towards the Super Portal and end up ahead of the alpaca in first place! What a cheater! This spell can only be used once per race. Base success chance is 1%.</pre>

<pre{{log2|margin-right=350px}}>
Thief skills:
1) Tar the paths! (attack): Your jockey spills tar all over the path, making it extremely difficult for the alpaca behind you to move. A successful attack results in the defending alpaca losing some meters for the current round and having a debuff applied to them which reduces their dexterity for the rest of the race or until dispelled. If successful the alpaca using this skill will gain a boost in meters for the current round and will receive a buff which increases their dexterity for the rest of the race or until dispelled. Base success chance is 40%.</pre>

Jockey battles and how they work:

Every odd numbered round will be an interactive event with no jockey battles and even numbered rounds will be non-interactive events with jockey battles. This way you only have to participate in one event per round, the interactive events in which you direct your alpaca to do something, and the jockey battle rounds with a non-interactive event for your alpaca which doesn't require input from players.

During a jockey battle round you will choose an Aspect for that round, an attack to use, and a defense skill to use. An Aspect grants you certain bonuses and weaknesses during that round. The below chart shows the strengths and weaknesses of each aspect:

<pre{{log2|margin-right=350px}}>
Aspect:		Strong		Weak
Cheetah		Bear		Peacock
Bear		Monkey		Cheetah
Rabbit		Fox	        Monkey
Monkey		Rabbit		Bear
Fox	        Peacock		Rabbit
Peacock		Cheetah		Fox</pre>

For example if you choose the Cheetah Aspect then you will receive a bonus when attacking someone or defending against someone who chose the Bear Aspect, but you will receive a penalty when attacking or being attacked by someone who chose the Peacock Aspect.

Here are the factors that help an attacker:
<pre{{log2|margin-right=350px}}>
Choosing the strong Aspect against the defender's Aspect.
Using a skill that your jockey specializes in.
Having more stat points in the specialization of skill compared to the defender's stat points of that skill. For example using "Lightning Bolt" would compare both the attacker's and defender's Speed.
Dexterity stat.</pre>

Here are the factors that help a defender:
<pre{{log2|margin-right=350px}}>
Choosing the strong Aspect against the attacker's Aspect.
Defending against a skill that your jockey specializes in.
Having more stat points in the specialization of skill compared to the attackers's stat points of that skill. For example defending against "Lightning Bolt" would compare both the attacker's and defender's Speed.
Having "Force Field" on your alpaca.</pre>

So train up your alpaca! Get your jockey their specialization! And get to jousting!
