TOCrightFishing is a popular pastime in Elanthia.

Equipment
The cost of fishing equipment varies depending on material, design, quality, and quantity. See the Fishing Shops category for inventory.
Equipment||Info
Rod
All fishing rods are equal. RAISE (far), WAVE (medium distance), or PUSH (very close) the rod to cast at different lengths. PULL the rod to reel it in.
Line
More expensive fishing line lasts longer. When your line breaks, the lures and bait that tied to it are lost. PULL the spool to remove line, then PUT the line on the rod.
Sinkers
Weights come in two sizes. Tiny weights are for middle depths, while small weights are better for bottom depths. No weight is needed for surface fishing. PUT (verb) the weight on the rod.
Lures
There are three basic types of lures and bait, each type geared toward bottom, mid-depth, or surface fishing. PUT the lure on the rod.
Chests
The rhimar chests preserve the caught fish. Without a chest, the fish goes bad or escapes.

Process
Bonus checks
The first set of checks determine the rarity of fish. There are 5 tiers of rarity:
#Common
#Uncommon
#Rare
#Very rare
#Legendary

Tiers 1 through 4 aren't to difficult to come by, but to get tier 5 fish, more research and an understanding of the system is required to be successful. It's possible to catch a legendary fish without meeting all bonuses and hitting a great random roll, but you'll have a much easier time if you can meet 3 of the 4 bonus criteria.

There is a seasonal bonus, it's better to fish in the spring and summer. Fall is neutral. Winter has a penalty. (Given seasons aren't the same across the world, these seasons are reflected on the United States.)

There are bonuses to fishing during certain hours of the day; it's not random. It also doesn't look at time zones, it's just a generic time of day that is the best time to fish.

There are bonuses for the area (is it a good/hot spot). This is another aspect to discover on your own. This also applies to catching lobsters.

The lure has a bonus as long as it's used in the right depth of water. If you catch a tier 5 fish, you used the lure at the right depths.

Then there is just a random element entirely for those that don't know what they are doing.

Reeling it in
Once the fish is on your line, there are a new set of checks.

The only stat that is used is Strength.

The fish's strength is determined by the phase you're in. Did you just catch it? Is it wearing down? A fish just hooked is strong. Bigger fish are harder to catch from having an inherited strength bonus.

There are some random elements to both the fisherman and the fish here as well. Think of these as "critical catches." But it also helps those who don't have strength or aren't waiting to tire the fish out.

Snapping a line
Too much slack is a huge penalty and will result in a warning message. Learn what is good enough.

Reeling in too early has a bigger chance to snap a line.

Leaving the fish on the line longer tires the fish out, but it also weakens the line.

The catch
The fish that was caught on the line was determined at first bite. There are 5 tiers of rarity for fish. There are 3 depths. Each depth has the 5 tiers.

Fishing now tracks total fish caught, as well as which tier it came from.

Cooking
Caught fish can be cut into fillets using CUT MY FISH WITH MY <WEAPON>. Heavier fish may produce more than one fillet. These fillets can then be cooked over a suitable fire. See the below table for information on the locations of cooking fires.

Locations
The Quickstrike ability allows physical combat actions to be performed at a reduced roundtime (RT) for a stamina cost proportional to the amount of reduction and to the equipment involved, to a minimum of 1 second. Such reduction may be specified as either a modifier to the base RT of an action or as a desired absolute RT, and can be invoked as part of a combat command or as a separate command that applies to the next combat action.

The stamina cost increases per second of RT reduction. Two-handed weapons have a 1.5x speed multiplier and ranged weapons have a 2.5x speed multiplier in this calculation. If insufficient stamina is available for the specified reduction, a lesser reduction at lesser cost may take place based on what stamina is available. Equipment speeds can be found on the weapon speeds list.

<div ><center>
Equipment Speed = Weapon Speed * Speed Modifier (as outlined above)<br>
Stamina cost = (10 + (primary equipment speed + (secondary equipment speed / 2))) * Roundtime Modifier</center>
</div>

Trying to quickstrike for more swings than the character has the stamina to afford will not lower a character into negative stamina. Instead, it will limit itself to the maximum reduction possible with the stamina remaining. Using a quickstrike with an ability that costs stamina (a combat maneuver, an mstrike during cooldown, etc.) can take one into negative stamina. In those cases, the quickstrike cost is calculated and paid first (limiting itself if necessary, as before), then the stamina cost of the ability is paid, possibly blowing muscles.

Combat Maneuvers
Characters in the Striking Asp Stance can perform quickstrikes with less of a stamina cost.

The Quickstrike ability is an improvement over the older Quickstrike combat maneuver in almost every situation. Because the maneuver is superier in a few niche cases, however, it has been retained.

Usage
<span style="color: red;">Note: There is currently a bug where "QSTRIKE {#} FIRE" does not properly use the AIM location. Archers should use a macro to send two commands: "QSTRIKE {#}" and then "FIRE" separately.</span>

<prelog2>
Usage:
QSTRIKE {modifier} {action...} - Perform the specified action with the specified roundtime modifier
QSTRIKE {modifier} - Use the specified roundtime modifier on your next combat action
QSTRIKE {time} {action...} - Perform the specified action with the specified absolute roundtime
QSTRIKE {time} - Use the specified absolute roundtime on your next combat action
QSTRIKE STOP - Do not use a queued modifier/time on your next combat action
QSTRIKE LIMIT {amount} - Limit stamina usage per combat action to the specified amount
QSTRIKE HELP - This help text

{modifier} should be a negative number indicating the roundtime reduction desired
{time} should be a positive number indicating the absolute roundtime desired

Valid combat actions are:
AMBUSH HURL STUNMAN (ATTACK)
ATTACK JAB SUBDUE
CHEAPSHOT KILL SWEEP
CMAN (various) KICK TACKLE
COCK MSTRIKE TRIP
DISARM (weapons) PUNCH WTRICKS (FEINT, SATTACK)
FIRE SHIELD (various)
GRAPPLE SMITE

Examples:
QSTRIKE -3 ATTACK THIRD KOBOLD - Attack the third kobold at -3 seconds to your normal roundtime
QSTRIKE 2 CMAN CHARGE STORM GIANT - Charge the storm giant at a total roundtime of 2 seconds
QSTRIKE -1 - Perform your next combat action at -1 second to your normal roundtime

MINVERIK: /* Deity Specific Messaging */

Through the usage of the final tier of Holy Receptacle (325), a Cleric is able to Intercede on behalf of another character, allowing them the opportunity to seek a new path of worship. From a mechanical standpoint, this Tier represents the only IC means of changing CONVERT status.

Requirements
To create an Intercession gem, a cleric must have:
*An orb gem with a value > 4000 silver
*50 mana: 25 for the spell, 25 additional for the Tier 5 blessing
*Spiritual Lore, Blessings: 10 ranks (50 skill)
*Spiritual Lore, Religion: 30 ranks (120 skill)

Creation
;Syntax - <span style="font-variant:small-caps">bless deity common 5</span>
<prelog2>>bless deity common 5
As you chant a short litany, the emerald in the palm of your hand emits a subdued white light.</pre>

The nature of the light emitted by the gem is based on the Pantheon of the cleric that created the gem.
* Liabo: a subdued white light
* Neutrality: a fine grey mist
* Lornon:  a dark shadow

Usage
In order to use an Intercession gem, the cleric that creates the gem must WAVE the gem at the pilgrim in order to attune it to them.

;Syntax - <span style="font-variant:small-caps">wave (gem) at (character)</span>

At this point, the cleric should GIVE the gem to the pilgrim. If they desire to CONVERT to the same deity as the cleric, they need only to RUB the gem to create a coffer into which they may place their offering. If they desire only to CONVERT to a different deity in the same pantheon, the pilgrim must then find two other clerics from the same Pantheon, and have them cast Holy Receptacle upon the gem as well.

For purposes of this spell, Zelia, Gosaena, The Huntress, Arachne, and Aeia, as well as unconverted clerics and clerics converted to "other", are all considered to be of the Neutral pantheon.

;Syntax - <span style="font-variant:small-caps">rub (gem)</span>
<prelog2>>rub diamond
You rub the uncut diamond and its delicate structure collapses in your hand. A brilliant globe of
light glows in its place for a moment until finally, the light dims to reveal a radiant silver coffer.</pre>

;Appearance
Depending on pantheon, the coffers look different:
* Liabo: a radiant silver coffer
* Neutrality: a misty marble coffer
* Lornon: a shadowy obsidian coffer

At this point, the pilgrim must place an offering of coins into the coffer. The equation to determine the exact amount is not yet known, but character level, profession, current CONVERT status, time since last conversion, cost of the gem, and total number of Intercessions are expected factors.

;Syntax - <span style="font-variant:small-caps">put (number) silver in coffer</span>
<prelog2>>put X coins in my coffer
You gently slide some coins into the slot in the lid of your silver coffer and get the feeling that you
have placed a sufficient offering inside it.</pre>

Once a sufficient offering has been made, the pilgrim will get a feeling to that effect, and will be able to verify by LOOKing at the coffer.

;Syntax - <span style="font-variant:small-caps">look coffer</span>
<prelog2>>look at my coffer
The coffer is a tiny silver box that glows with a white light. On top of the coffer is a thin slot, just
big enough to fit an Elanthian silver coin.
You recall placing X coins into your coffer and get the feeling that you have placed a sufficient offering
inside it.</pre>

With the proper tithe secured, the pilgrim has only to travel to a holy place consecrated to the Arkati or spirit they wish to convert to. It is important to note that some rooms are consecrated to more than one deity, and to avoid jealousy amongst the gods, these areas are not usable. An exception is a shrine where all the deities are present. Only one of these is known to exist in the lands, on the Zul Logoth pilgrimage site. To check if a room is holy, have a Cleric or Paladin SENSE for divine influences in the area. When an appropriate place is found (and any desired ceremonies are performed, the pilgrim can complete the rite by making an OFFERing.

;Syntax - <span style="font-variant:small-caps">offer my coffer to [deity #]</span>
<prelog2>>offer my coffer to 1
You offer up your silver coffer to Koar as a pledge of your devotion.

The air about you fills with a harsh light, every line you view through it sharply defined. A commanding
and implacable gaze weighs heavily upon you, humbling you even as it fills you with a quiet pride. The
sensation of being watched passes, but in its wake you are stronger and more firm in your resolve.

The coffer becomes luminous, growing far too brilliant to gaze upon. Abruptly, the light fades, taking
your offering with it, but you find a rich golden topaz crown talisman has been left in its place.</pre>

Each deity will give a different feel upon conversion, as well as a different token to mark the occasion. The cleric (or clerics) that attended to the conversion receives experience equal to the level of the newly-converted character times 10 (divided by the number of clerics involved - Level x 10 / 3 in the case of Pantheonic conversion)
<prelog2>A feeling of understanding and connectedness to Koar washes over you since converting another to the fold.</pre>

Deity Specific Messaging
Upon making their offering, the character that has found their new faith receives as brief vision as their new patron accepts them into the fold. The coffer that previously contained the characters offering is taken away, as well, replaced by a medallion that marks their new allegiance. While not yet comprehensive, below is a list of conversion messaging, along with the form of the medallion:
The image of a stylized slit-pupiled eye completes itself and burns, sourceless, on the air about you for the space of a breath before vanishing into nothing.
