Creature end
Not dead so long that its body has begun to lose the unwinnable war against decay, a shambling lurk is firmly in the grip of rigor mortis. Its face is paralyzed in a slack-jawed smile that reveals broken teeth and a dry and swollen tongue. From the viridian firelight dancing in its eyes, it is clear that it is beyond the services of a cleric, except perhaps to grant the blessing of a swift release.

Hunting Strategies
With no armor or defensive spells, lurks are extremely weak defensively and are prone to critical deaths or disabling. Their regular attack is not dangerous except for when raging. Their perception is poor as well.
Other Information
<pre>
A shambling lurk lets out a horrible retching sound, its gut pulsing and bulging in places. The distensions travel sickeningly up the lurk's chest and wasted gullet before, with a noisome belch, the lurk vomits a brackish substance at you! A few specks of corrosive spittle strike you and begin to burn!

<pre>
The flesh around the wound feels hot and cold at the same time, heavy with infection.
There is a way to clean this out of you, but it's not without risk (clarification needed). Otherwise, it has a 10 minute duration and will show up as a debuff. It comes with a loss of 50 health per cycle.
Upon death and in the presence of a lurk or dying with their infection still active will turn you into a lurk. Pale scaled shapers and Deathsworn fanatics can also turn you into a lurk when dead:

<pre>
A pale scaled shaper stoops and places a hand on your chest. Green-tinged light spews from her hand, suffusing your flesh. For a moment, you feel nothing but incredible heat and power flowing through you, but something goes terribly wrong, and a cold hand tugs at your soul. Your last living sight is that of your flesh sloughing away like serpentskin, giving rise to something shambling and heinous.
</pre>
You will move randomly remain animated until decay or you are killed and freed by other players. During this experience you have no control over your character, other than limited vision using LOOK. You will attack other adventurers in the same room as you.
__NOTOC__
A glistening cerebralite can be found in the Rift on Plane 4 or in the Scatter. An oversized and highly developed floating brain is accompanied by a pair of eyes on stalks and tentacles to lash out at opponents. The cerebralites are drawn to mental activity, and utilize mental and electricity-based attacks to subdue their victims.

Hunting strategies
Glistening cerebralites have a thick shell which protects them from attacks.
<div >A translucent shell appears around the cerebralite, absorbing most of the blow.</div>

Other information
Cerebralites are extraplanar beings.
A glistening cerebralite can free the brain of a fallen opponent, resulting in glistening wrinkled cerebralite. An example of this event:
<div >
DEAD><br>
Soundlessly, a glistening cerebralite hovers over you, its eye-stalks twisting as it contorts to gaze down on your lifeless body. As it studies your corpse, trickles of milky fluid drip from its base.

The cerebralite latches its primary tentacles to your temples rather systematically, sending low-intensity pulses of electricity through your head. A deep thrumming can be heard as your skull begins to bulge alarmingly, causing a number of cracks to form. Thin rivulets of blood stream forth, followed by an audible SPLORTCH as your brain frees itself of its confines! Half a dozen tentacles sprout from its underside, while former ocular nerves elongate into tubular eye-stalks as the strange entity swells in size.

A glistening wrinkled cerebralite hovers over its shattered former enclosure, covered in a thick mucusy membrane.<br>
DEAD><br>
[The Rift, Scatter]<br>
Overturned desks lie in disarray on the bloody floor of an old classroom. All along the weathered walls, school books have had their pages stabbed through with daggers, securing them to the wooden panels beneath. The scorching wind rushes in through an open window, howling and moaning like a spirit possessed. You also see a glistening wrinkled cerebralite, a Vvrael destroyer, a Vvrael destroyer, a Vvrael destroyer, a glistening cerebralite, a murky soul siphon and a glistening cerebralite.<br>
Obvious paths: northeast, southeast
</div>

Messaging
<i>A glistening cerebralite floats in, leaving a thick trail of amorphous goo in its wake.

A glistening cerebralite twists and coils its tentacles, sending tendrils of electricity crawling along the surface of its brain-like form.</i>
The Locate Person spell shows the room of the target character to the caster of this spell, provided he or she is in the same realm as the caster. This spell returns text as if someone in the same room as the target used the LOOK verb, as it shows the room title, description, individuals present, creatures and items present, and the obvious exits of the room. In addition, everyone in the target character's room will see the text, "Suddenly you have the strangest feeling that you are being watched. The feeling fades as quickly as it came."

If the person being located is not within the caster's current realm, the target will not sense the spell, and the caster will receive an unique out of range message based on the realm the caster is within (except as discussed under 'Lore Benefits'). If the person is taking a griffin ride, the locator will see, "All you see is the blur of the countryside as you soar along."

Certain rooms and the spell, Unpresence, prevent a target from being located, but the Locate Person spell returns a different message from if the target was out-of-range. (The entire area beyond the rolaren gate near Icemule Trace is one such area, as are all Grimswarm warcamps.)

Casting the spell on hidden or invisible targets will return a message along the lines of, "What were you referring to?"

Lore Benefits
Spiritual Lore, Summoning allows the caster to locate people not in their area.
*At 30 ranks, the caster can view targets in adjacent realms
*At 60 ranks, the caster can view targets in near-adjacent realms
*At 90 ranks, the caster can view targets in far realms.

In addition, at 30 ranks of Summoning lore, casting Locate in a room where someone has been located within 30 seconds will let the caster identify the locator.
