|location = The Rift
|description = The firemote orb is a fist-sized perfect sphere filled with luminescent colors. The hues shift as the orb is turned, melting into neighboring tones and almost pulsing with an inner fire. Small sparkles of light -- tiny pinpricks so small they're almost invisible -- flicker every so often within the orb's interior, like stars within a multicolored sky.}}
Looking at the orb will cause one of these to happen:
<prelog2>
The firemote orb glows more intensely, as if instigated by your familiar gaze. Colors shift and turn, circling like a miniature hurricane. As you watch with curiosity, a soft voice unfolds within your thoughts. It whispers, the words a jumble you cannot understand, however its tone is lyrical and sweet. As the sound fades away to nothing, the hues within the orb slow to their normal luminous pattern.
Roundtime: 5 sec.

You gaze at the multi-colored firemote orb, noting its interior pools of vibrant color. For something so small, you are struck by the complexity of the different patterns and combinations of tone. The movement within is also somewhat astounding, considering the orb's size.

The miniscule pinpricks of light seem to acquire distinct rhythmic patterns at times, another mystery in itself.

As you study the firemote orb, you watch fine fingers of bright crimson invade neighboring pools of gold and purple. Blue mixes with yellow, sending a wave of green to collide with a milky white swathe moving around the sphere's side.

The clouds of color are hypnotic, changing continually in a slow blur, and reminds you of watching waves recede across a beach. As your thoughts drift in reflection, a sparkle of light catches your attention. It seems stronger than the occasional flickers normally dusting the shifting hues with their shimmer. The tiny glimmer moves through the color tones leaving eddies and swirls in its path, like someone walking through a colorful pool of water.

In the blink of an eye, the pinprick of light disappears, leaving a barely discernable trail marking its passage across the firmament enclosed within the orb.
Roundtime: 10 sec.

Studying the orb, you notice the patterns of color turn more and more slowly. They finally stop, pausing like a breath held in anticipation of some momentous event. Then, they part ever so slightly, revealing a flickering pinprick of emerald-toned light hovering within the colorful flood. As it appears, you hear a whisper in your mind, intoning a tumbled chorus of soft sound, none of which makes sense.

Just as you think you're beginning to understand the torrent of sound, the colors inside the orb begin to move once more, quickly obscuring both the sparkle of light and the lyrical whispers.
Roundtime: 10 sec.

Bright veins of color coalesce in a slow dance with the heart of the small sphere. They shift and turn, one moment looking like a tiny hurricane, and the next, like a rainbow-hued vortex. While the movement is very slow, it still conveys a sense of incredible force held miraculously in the fragile shell.

Within the heart of the firemote orb, you notice a small flurry of activity, as two pools of variegated color push against each other as though in a tiny contest of wills. One finally gives in and playfully rushes away in the other direction. Against that backdrop, a single flicker of light blossoms into life. It hovers around the two eddies, swaying languidly first toward one, then toward the other.

In the next moment, a rampaging wave of scarlet washes over the orb's entire interior. As it engulfs all in its path, you hear a small whisper of sound within your mind. Its crystalline tone is pure and beautiful. It tinkles, like a wind-chime with perfectly toned notes. It echoes and fades. It reminds you of laughter.
|description = The firemote orb is a fist-sized perfect sphere filled with luminescent colors. The hues shift as the orb is turned, melting into neighboring tones and almost pulsing with an inner fire. Small sparkles of light -- tiny pinpricks so small they're almost invisible -- flicker every so often within the orb's interior, like stars within a multicolored sky.}}
Looking at the orb will cause one of these to happen:
<prelog2>

Roundtime: 10 sec.

{{gem
War Cries are the skill of projecting a Warrior's voice to rally his party or cow his enemies. War Cries are one of the six skills that can be studied at the Warrior Guild.

Using War Cries
War cries are activated using WARCRY. Abilities that prevent speaking and spell-casting, such as Silence, Cutthroat, and Throatchop also affect war cries. War cries fall into two categories: offensive war cries that inflict negative effects on a foe, and supporting war cries that strengthen the warrior and his party. The Griffin's Voice Martial Stance gives the user more endurance and versatility in their war cries.

Performing a war cry takes 3 seconds of roundtime if the cry is performed successfully (regardless of whether it has any effect) and 5 seconds if the cry is performed incorrectly.

War Cries have been converted to use the Standard Success Resolution system. Attacker power is (50 + War Cry Ranks). For comparison, Society attack power is (40 + (Society Ranks * 2)).

Offensive War Cries
An offensive war cry takes two skill rolls: the first decides if the warrior performed the cry successfully, and the second determines how strongly the cry affects the target (if at all). Offensive war cries inflict status effects, not damage. They do not affect the undead unless the warrior is in the Griffin's Voice stance and has trained that stance to the second or third rank.

Single Target
Offensive war cries can be used on a single target via WARCRY [cry] [target]. Creatures or players can be targeted, but bear in mind your guild oath before using them on player characters (or friendly NPCs).

Open Crying
Offensive war cries can also be directed at all creatures in the room (player-friendly) with WARCRY [cry] ALL. This will affect hiding creatures, for better and for worse. Open war cries are more stressful on a warrior's vocal cords than single-target cries.

Untargeted
If invoked without a target (WARCRY [cry]), the warrior will demonstrate the war cry, but no targets will be affected. This style is expected when training offensive war cries with another warrior (skilled master or player character).

Supporting War Cries
All supporting war cries are invoked without a target (WARCRY [cry]), and most require a group to have any effect. Only the final cry, Horland's Holler, will have an effect for a solo warrior. Supporting war cries require a hidden skill roll to ensure the cry is preformed successfully. Like offensive war cries, the group-only supporting war cries can be used without a group, but will have no effect. The duration for these war cries appears to be:
<div >2 × (War Cry Ranks + Level / 4) seconds

Vocal Cord Stress
As of the release of the 3rd phase of the Player System Manager (PSM 3.0), War Cries have been converted to use stamina instead of vocal stress. Vocal Stress was a difficult mechanic for players to track because there was no real-time feedback. Vocal Stress is no longer factored into the success chance of war cries, so players should see higher success rates in general.

War Cries
Bertrandt's Bellow
Bertrandt's Bellow is the first war cry a warrior learns. It is an offensive war cry that can be targeted at a single foe for 10 stamina or used as AoE for 20 stamina. A successful use of bellow applies Staggered.

:Bertrant's Bellow is learned at Rank 1, and becomes the cry used for field reps at Rank 10.

Yertie's Yowlp
Yertie's Yowlp is a supporting war cry. Yowlp bolsters the warrior's party's defense against offensive war cries and similar attacks, such as a griffin's screech or a bear's roar, for 10 stamina.

:Yertie's Yowlp is learned at Rank 20.

::In the past, Yertie's Yowlp boosted a party's AS by 5, but its under-use lead to a redesign.

Gerrelle's Growl
Gerrelle's Growl is an offensive war cry that can be used against a single target for 7 stamina or AoE for 14 stamina. Foes affected by growl are forced into a more offensive stance and Demoralized.

:Gerrelle's Growl is learned at Rank 30 and becomes the cry used for field reps at Rank 35.

Seanette's Shout
Seanette's Shout is a supporting war cry that invigorates the warrior and their party and encourages them to strengthen their efforts for 25 stamina. The warrior and all party members are Empowered for a bonus of 20 to all AS attacks. (To be clear, this can be used not in a party for the same effects.)

:Seanette's Shout is learned at Rank 40.

Carn's Cry
The final offensive war cry, Carn's Cry attempts to terrify a single creature for 15 stamina or multiple targets (AoE) for 30 stamina. Mechanically, Carn's Cry tries to immobilize the foe, and like much like Empathy (1108), it has multiple outcomes depending on the level of success. A mild success will cause the target to flee to another room and suffer a short period of immobilization, while a large success causes the enemy to become immobilized in place for a longer duration. Unlike Empathy, Carn's Cry cannot earn a "kill" by causing a target to drop its treasure and permanently flee the area.

A successful open Cry will knock hidden creatures out of hiding. Many creatures that do not stun are vulnerable to Carn's Cry, making it occasionally useful to set up a Coup de Grace.

<prelog2>
>warcry cry all
You let loose an eerie, modulating cry!
A bandit is forced from hiding!
A bandit looks at you in utter terror!
The bandit convulses with terrified shivers!

Roundtime: 3 sec.

:Carn's Cry is learned at Rank 50, becomes the cry used for field reps at Rank 55, and remains that way for the duration of the warrior's study of War Cries.

Horland's Holler
Horland's Holler is a room taunt that lasts for a duration based on Influence bonus. Any attacks made in the room have a chance to be redirected back to the warrior. Success of a redirect is based on Multi Opponent Combat training and the Influence bonus of the warrior. In addition, Holler provides the Warrior and Warrior’s party with a short term Boost Health (20). The success of the taunt is based on the Standard success resolution system, and attackers gain a bonus for every attempt made.

:Horland's Holler is learned at Rank 60.

Tasks Assigned
All tasks are assigned from Rank 1 except for critter tasks. It is recommended that a warrior learn and use at least the first rank of Griffin's Voice when working on the skill, especially for critter reps.

Teacher
Ask a fellow warrior to teach you. The teacher must either have more ranks than the student, or have an equal number of ranks but be a higher level.
To teach someone type WARCRY TEACH <person>
:This task is worth 12 points.

Skilled Masters
Ask a skilled master to teach you.
:This task is worth 10 points.

Critter
Use the most recent War Cry against a challenging critter. Starts at rank 10, and the cry used changes 5 ranks after learning a new offensive cry. A critter task with Carn's Cry can be one of the more annoying guild tasks.
:This task is worth 15 points.

Chores
Rake leaves
:Simply proceed to the tool rack, retrieve a rake and bag, and return to the yard. In areas with scattered leaves, PULL RAKE to gather the leaves into a pile and then GET PILE to gather the leaves into your bag. When the bag is full, return to the tool rack and PUT BAG IN BIN to complete the rep.
:This task is worth 5 points.

Polish armor
:Proceed to the tool rack, retrieve an oiled rag, and find the suits of armor scattered throughout the guild hall and RUB ARMOR to polish them. Return the rag when you are finished. Each suit of armor can only be polished once every 10 minutes.
:This task is worth 5 points.

Prune shrubs
:Again, go to the tool rack and retrieve pruning shears. Then, at each bush, hedge, or shrub, PRUNE it. Return the shears to the rack when finished. Each shrub can only be pruned once every 10 minutes.
:This task is worth 5 points.

Scrub floors
:Go to the tool rack and retrieve a scrub brush, then on your hands and knees, CLEAN the floor of inside rooms. Like polishing armor and pruning scrubs, one cannot repeatedly scrub the same floor for reps.
:This task is worth 5 points.

This Adventurer's Guild task requires you to obtain a number of a specific gem (usually between five and ten) and sell them to the town's jeweler. Assignments appear to be somewhat based upon your character's level. For example, a level 2 character would be asked to find something on the order of '6 pink spinels,' though as early as 15 trains one can be assigned to look for rarities such as Sylvarraend rubies. Rewards are based on specific gem type and quantity.

Step-by-Step
What follows are clips taken from IV which illustrate each step of this particular task.

Step One: Getting the Task
<prelog2>
>ask rheteger about bounty
Rheteger says, "Hmm, I've got a task here from the town of Wehnimer's Landing. The local gem dealer, Murdos Burdos, has an order to fill and wants our help. Head over there and see what you can do. Be sure to ASK about BOUNTIES."

Step Two: Get Details from the Jeweler
<prelog2>
>ask dealer about bounty
The dealer says, "Ah, so you're from the Adventurer's Guild? Yes, I do have a task for you. I've recently received several orders from customers interested in purchasing a yellow zircon. Unfortunately, I do not have quite enough inventory on hand to meet this demand. I'd like for you to go round up 8 of them for me. You can SELL them to me as you find them."

Step Three: Collect the Gems
You may obtain the gems any way you see fit, such as searching the corpses of dead critters, or even from other adventurers.

Step Four: Sell the Gems
<prelog2>
>sell zircon
The gem dealer takes the yellow zircon, gives it a careful examination and hands you 89 silver for it.

[You need to sell 1 more to complete your task.]
>sell zircon
The gem dealer takes the yellow zircon, gives it a careful examination and hands you 110 silver for it.

He says, "This completes my last order. Thanks, Aconitum. You may return to the Adventurer's Guild to pickup your full reward."

Step Five: Reap the Rewards
<prelog2>
>ask rheteger about bounty
Rheteger says, "All done with that assignment? Good job, Aconitum!"

[You have earned 450 bounty points, 1000 experience points, and 200 silver.]

Rewards
Experience for this task is always 1000 points. Bounty points and silver will vary upon the specific gem requested and their quantity. The following chart is a collection of data which displays the known amounts for each gem and which areas they may be assigned in.

The repository, owned by Tillmen, is the most common location for downloading scripts that are not pre-installed with Lich.

How to Use the Repository
The repository has four basic commands:

<syntaxhighlight lang="ruby">
;repository

;repository download <scriptname>

;repository info <scriptname>

;repository list
</syntaxhighlight>

The first shows a Help screen and is the root command for all others.

The second, often shortened to ';repo down', lets you download a specified script.

Third, INFO provides information about whatever script is specified. If the author has been kind and thorough, this will tell you how to use the script and if it has any interdependencies.

Fourth, LIST will list all scripts in the repository.

Updating Scripts
The repository supports updates via prefedined scripts and the MapDatabase
To see a list of scripts you currently have set to updatable,
;repo show-updatable
.
For users on Lich 5+, you want
Lich: off
to be displayed.

To add a script to be updated,
;repo set-updatable <scriptname>
.
To view scripts you have set to be auto-updated,
;repo show-updatable
.
It is only recommended to set scripts from authors you trust to auto-update.

If you want to remove,
;repo unset-updatable <scriptname>
.

Popular Lich Scripts
Use
;go2 targets
to see a list of pre-programmed locations broken down by towns. Or, use
;go2 save <new location name>=<new location room number>
to create your own locations. ==In-game Help Output==

Usage:

;repository list [alpha] lists all scripts available for download (optionally in alphabetial order)
;repository sync [alpha] lists only new and/or updated scripts
;repository info shows the comments at the top of the script
;repository download   downloads the script
;repository upload     uploads the script
;repository delete deletes the script from the server

Scripts should include comments at the top describing the purpose of the script. Scripts without comments at the top will not show up on the server.

After uploading a script, a key that allows you to delete/update the script will be saved to C:/Games/lich/keys

Sortable list
The repository script has an in game GUI available that allows sorting by date, tags, etc.

;repo gui

Jinx (Repository alternative)
Jinx is a project that is an alternative form of script installation from the default ;repository. It can serve up scripts for download similar to the ;repo however it is not dependent on a single server that may be prone to outages. Any one can set up their own script library, and then users can add it as a source for the ;jinx script to search and download from.

Jinx is installed in the default Lich5 package. Jinx can be downloaded and installed into your scripts folder from the Elanthia Online github

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/elanthia-online/scripts/master/scripts/jinx.lic

Right-click the above link and save it into the scripts folder in your lich directory.

Alternatively, the following command can be issued in game via lich to attempt to download the script to the proper directory for you (this command is for when the repository is down and the script cannot be downloaded naturally):
<syntaxhighlight lang="ruby">
;e require 'open-uri';begin;jinx_remote = open("https://raw.githubusercontent.com/elanthia-online/scripts/master/scripts/jinx.lic"); jinx_local = File.open(File.join(SCRIPT_DIR, 'jinx.lic'), "wb"); jinx_local.write(jinx_remote.read);ensure; jinx_remote.close(); jinx_local.close();end</syntaxhighlight>

once installed you can issue:
;jinx help
for basic usage information.

Jinx Lich Repository Mirror
In the event the main
;repository
is unavailable, there is currently an actively maintained
;jinx
repository that is a direct mirror.

https://github.com/FarFigNewGut/lich_repo_mirror

Scripts can be manually retrieved from this Github repository (they are all located in the lib folder). The repository is also packaged and published for use directly with Jinx:

<syntaxhighlight lang="ruby">
;jinx repo add ffnglichrepoarchive https://ffnglichrepoarchive.netlify.app
</syntaxhighlight>
(You can use something shorter instead of "ffnglichrepoarchive" for the repo name if you'd like.)

Once it is setup as a source for
;jinx
you can install any scripts from the repo with:

<syntaxhighlight lang="ruby">
# install script for the first time
;jinx script install  --repo=ffnglichrepoarchive

# update previously installed script
;jinx script update  --repo=ffnglichrepoarchive
</syntaxhighlight>

For example if you wanted to download or update invdb.lic:
<syntaxhighlight lang="ruby">
# first install
;jinx script install invdb --repo=ffnglichrepoarchive

# update if you had previously downloaded invdb.lic
;jinx script update invdb --repo=ffnglichrepoarchive
</syntaxhighlight>

Jinx Lich Repository Offline Update Info
At times the default Lich repository (accessed via
;repo
) can go offline, below are some helpful commands to update core Lich related functionality using Jinx.

<syntaxhighlight lang="ruby">
