GemStone IV Platinum HARDCORE
Welcome to GemStone IV Platinum HARDCORE. This contest started out as a personal challenge that garnered enough interest to bring others on board. The basic essence of the contest is simple. You make a new character, in GemStone IV Platinum, and if the character dies, you are out. With that basic premise out of the way we will get into the various rules that need to be put into place to ensure a fair competition. Please keep in mind that this contest is run primarily on an honor system and we are trusting participants to follow the rules.

Contest Rules
*	All participates, upon creation, must be posted in the GemStone IV Platinum HARDCORE thread. This includes name, race and profession. They must be created after July 17th, 2017.

*	Upon death you should submit a post to the thread informing the community of the character’s death and immediately delete the character. Inventory may be transferred to a non-HARDCORE character prior to deletion.

*	HARDCORE characters must be self-spelled. This means no outside spells may be used. Spells the character can activate themselves from Magic Items or Scrolls are permitted.

*	Items and silver may not be obtained from other characters. This means nothing may be received from another character or player shop. All silver and inventory must be earned by the HARDCORE character. NPC shop purchases are permitted. Items the HARDCORE character obtained from a merchant, including raffles and merchant services, are permitted.

*	Items from a grand auction, Platinum monthly raffle, Duskruin, Delirium Manor or other "pay to play" or "1 win per account" sources are not permitted. Items from Reim are permitted but only from your daily free Reim run.

*	No outside services from OTHER CHARACTERS are allowed. This includes:
**	Armor skills
**	Artisan Skills
**	Blessing
**	Enchanting/Ensorcelling/Elemental Resistance
**	Healing
**	Locksmithing
**	Mass spells

*	Deaths resulting from PvP, direct GameMaster action, or GAME WIDE outage are exempt. Also any death that is a required part of a task that may or may not exist for a specific society is exempt.

* GemStone IV Platinum HARDCORE characters cannot use any item purchased with Simucoins. Similar items found normally are allowed.

* GemStone IV Platinum HARDCORE characters should toggle on the ability to view their level in their profiles.

Rewards
The biggest reward is the honor and prestige from your fellow GemStone IV Platinum HARDCORE players. That said, to make it interesting, I will be offering the following prizes to participants:

*	Upon reaching level 20 a GemStone IV Platinum HARDCORE character can show their Lord/Lady title to Brinret for a 1 million silver reward payable to a non-HARDCORE character or their choice.

*	Upon reaching level 40 a GemStone IV Platinum HARDCORE character can show their Great Lord/Lady title to Brinret for a 5 million silver reward payable to a non-HARDCORE character or their choice.

*	Upon reaching level 70 a GemStone IV Platinum HARDCORE character can show their High Lord/Lady title to Brinret for a 10 million silver reward payable to a non-HARDCORE character or their choice.

*	Upon reaching level 100 a GemStone IV Platinum HARDCORE character can show their Grand Lord/Lady title to Brinret for their choice from an AUCTION QUALITY prize chest for a non-HARDCORE character. Additionally the HARDCORE character is now exempt from deletion on death.

This category lists all creatures found in the Blighted Forest hunting area. The Blighted Forest hunting area is nearest to the town of Ta'Illistim. It is found on the Tsoran map EN-tower.

The Blighted Forest is a dark, twisted forest that houses black forest vipers, black forest ogres, massive black boars, and swarms of mosquitoes. The area is so thick with plants that it is generally difficult to move about. The boars cannot climb the trees in the forest, so many hunters retreat to the trees when their game is the ogres or the vipers, or if they simply wish to avoid the boars.

The forest is temperate and is mostly wooded, though some areas are sandy, especially near the lake.

Maaghara Tower
The Maaghara Tower is a huge tree that houses a creature called the Maaghara. Imprisoned within the tree are the shrickhen, moulis, and the dhu goleras, though the moulis are likely the most deadly of the three due to their ability to infect people. Infected persons eventually hatch moulis scrapings, killing the host. At the top of the tower is a machine. Its function is unknown.

The Maaghara appears wise and her appearance shifts, though she withholds many answers about the forest that she inhabits.

Entering the tower requires solving a puzzle (Maaghara Tower Puzzle on GSGuide). Order of Voln masters may also enter with Symbol of Seeking.

Note: Your character must be level 67 to enter this area.
The Rift is located past Drake's Shrine which is at the top of Aenatumgana. The Rift is a magical location -- a tear in dimensional space that was designed to contain the Vvrael. There are rumors of numerous strange things inside the Rift. Notably, there was a mechanical beast with lights for eyes that zooms past every once in a while (which is likely a modern car). Also on the fifth plane was a location known as the Heart of The Rift, which is a large, irregularly-beating heart infested with worms.

Note: Your character must be level 66 or higher to enter the rift.

Entering the Rift is done through the sphere at the south end of the Cavern of Ages. To enter Plane 1, continually go north. To enter Plane 2, continually go west. To enter Plane 3, continually go east. Each time you move gives the chance of losing spirit, and some players will choose to rest inside the sphere area while their spirit recovers.

Navigating within and exiting the Rift involves various moving objects. There are doors and mirrors on Planes 1, 2, and 3 that will exit the Rift. There are threads on Planes 1-4 that can be climbed to bring you to the next higher Plane. Plane 4 is accessed by climbing the thread from 3. Plane 5 is entered either by the maw on Plane 1 or by climbing the thread on Plane 4. The thread on plane 5 leads back to plane 1.

Exiting the Rift through a door or mirror while holding 10000 silvers or more will result in all silvers being taken. In exchange, your head will be filled with mana.

There are travelling voids on Planes 1 to 3 that will cause damaging wounds that can give lengthy stuns if a person or critter is in the room with it or in an adjacent room.

All spells (except Arcane circle) that cannot be learned by the player will be dispelled at random while inside the Rift. Mana drains or gains also occur at random.

Dead bodies on Plane 5 can be removed by putting them in the box, and turning the crank. This turns all their wounds into scars and sends them to Plane 4. Bodies on Plane 4 can be dragged through the chute, which takes them to Plane 2. Bodies on Planes 1-3 can be dragged out through the doors. Bodies in The Scatter must be dragged through the fissure, which will deposit them in a random location in the rift. The person doing the dragging may or may not land at the same location.

The air inside the Scatter is very cold and has a chance to injure occupants and leave an ice patch:
<div log>
The temperature plummets precipitously, until every breath sits in your lungs like a block of ice.
The chill wind ravages 's flesh!<br>
&nbsp;... 10 points of damage!<br>
&nbsp;Ouch! What a stiff neck.<br>
&nbsp;He is stunned!

A sudden wave of intense cold gnaws at your flesh!<br>
&nbsp;... 5 points of damage!<br>
&nbsp;Chilly blast to the head. Where is that cap Mom knitted for you!?

A frigid mist gathers around you and quickly spreads to cover much of the surrounding room. When the mist dissipates, you notice the floor has become an uninterrupted slick surface stretching in all directions.
>
The ice patch melts away.
The following gems have special properties: shadowglass orbs, firemote orbs, urglaes fangs, faceted black diamonds, black doomstones, oblivion quartz, aster opals, faceted midnight black riftstones and Eye-of-Koar emeralds.

The Eye-of-Koar emerald has two special properties: when a character has 10,000 silver coins and raises the emerald, the character's group will be transported to the shrine of Koar on top of the mountain, from anywhere in the Rift. When the emerald is raised anywhere and the raiser or anyone in the group has 20,000 silver coins, each person with 20,000 coins will be granted a deed. This last feature only works if you have fewer than 20 deeds, and the coins necessary will be taken.

Note: You must be level 66 or higher to enter the rift.

<div log>
The temperature plummets precipitously, until every breath sits in your lungs like a block of ice.
The chill wind ravages 's flesh!<br>
&nbsp;... 10 points of damage!<br>

>

Crusade emboldens the paladin and her allies with the fervor of her righteous cause. The damage from the paladin's group's physical and magical bolt attacks is increased (heavy damage weighting). Training in Spiritual Lore, Blessings increases the damage weighting effect. In addition, successful attacks have 10% chance that a deity specific flare will occur after the attack. Training in Spiritual Lore, Religion increases the odds of the flare triggering at the rate of 2 * a seed 2 summation of lore ranks. Group members who share the same deity alignment with the Paladin will gain an additional 5% bonus to their flare chance.

This spell is taxing on the paladin. Attempts to recast it more often than every 3 minutes will cause subsequent casts to cost 9 additional mana than the previous cost. i.e. If a paladin casts this spell 4 times, once every minute, the scaling mana cost is 18, 27, 36, and 45 mana. The 3 minute cooldown resets with every cast of Crusade.

The flare effect is Plasma or Disruption.
Lore Benefits
Spiritual Lore, Blessings increases damage weighting.

Spiritual Lore, Religion increases flare chance. The total chance of a flare is 10% + (2% * seed 2 summation of Religion Lore), with an additional 5% for group members converted to the same deity.
<pre>You utter a pious chant and a divine force suddenly radiates around you. The intensity of your patron's aid billows out from you in a wave of righteous indignation!
The divine force suddenly surrounds an orange tiger.

Wearing off:
<div >The divine force surrounding you slowly fades away. </div>

Deity-specific Flares
Crusade's flares do not use the same holy critical tables like Divine Strike and Judgment, but are instead Plasma or Disruption.
