The Albatross has gone through some renovations and will be docking in Solhaven 9/24 till 10/1. Some new staff members were hired and the shops aboard the riverboat were refreshed! This event is calendared! Enjoy a week of gambling!

Tomorrow evening, the Albatross will be docking in Solhaven for the grand re-opening of the riverboat. With it, there are new staff members (NPCs) that you can find, as well as new wares and a new shop. Some wares are also limited in their quantity to be sold (per trip), so don't hesitate to buy new swag!

Captain Lahveew has made an agreement with Gostahl to run both Dragon Bones and Conquest Wheel on the ship a couple nights as well. You can also expect all the usual automated gambling games that are over there on the Albatross.

Keep an eye on twitter for Dragon Bones and Conquest Wheel! This is not a merchant heavy event! Expect Gambling, lots of gambling.

The Albatross isn't usually a festival by any means, but I wanted to make this visit something special. About a year ago, SGM Kaikala asked if I'd like to take over the riverboat, which was something I was more than happy to do. Since then, I've made some additions to the Albatross, as well as gave it a permanent schedule (which can be found in the staff quarters). It comes out once a year in Prime and Shattered, and quarterly in Platinum. The riverboat was primarily painted in July of 2008 by GM Xynwen. Since last year, I've added a few rooms belowdeck, the merchant lounge, the gambling library (inspired by GM Xynwen and Dave, the player of Rahsh and Brandain), the NPCs, and updated a lot of inventory. I'll be hosting another round of Dragon Bones and a round of Conquest Wheel over the week in both Prime and Platinum. And some of my merchants (Vahmyr, Khlat, Rawgur, Reddas, Gostahl, or others) may be around too.

This coming Day of the Huntress (1/20), Captain Lahveew of the Albatross will be bringing the riverboat out for a week of gambling excitement. Be sure to check out the Albatross for an exciting game of Dragon Bones and Conquest wheel during the stay, as well as Gostahl's Dicing game! During the stay, Captain Lahveew needs to attend to some business, so his whereabouts might be on the light side for the week!

Gostahl's Dicing Note: A lite version of Gostahl's Dicing is coming to the Albatross in Prime for '''Premium''' subscribers. Gostahl's Dicing is a quarterly event in which you pay to roll the dice. The roll result can lead to many fabulous prizes (or a big fat loss)! Once you roll, you won't be able to roll again for another year. This includes your entire account! Price to roll is 250,000 silvers. Many of the prizes must be redeemed on the spot, so come prepared. Prizes that require QCing will delay getting your win to you right away. Thanks for explaining it guys. Yeah, once you roll, your account is locked from rolling for a year. You pay to roll/play, not to win. So even a loss locks you out. During Prime's run, Gostahl's Dicing will be making a debut for Premium subscribers. It's a lite version, and not as many people will be able to participate as in Platinum. The selection method is a spinner, and I start right on time. Punctual GM is Punctual.

Late in the evening on Leyan, Captain Lahveew of the Albatross was seen leaving the riverboat, almost disguised with a hooded cloak and dark clothing. He made his way to the Krawling Kraken Inn, where he met with several seedy patrons at the tavern. After several hours, Lahveew made his way back to the Albatross and made an announcement to the patrons gambling and to the staff of the riverboat.

"As of this evening, I put the Albatross in the hands of Gostahl, may good fortune always bless this riverboat!"

After the shocking news, Lahveew was seen packing his things hastily, equipping himself with several weapons and armor pieces from the staff quarters. Gostahl was seen trying to have a word with the former captain, but Lahveew said it would all make sense in time and exited into the streets of Solhaven. Lahveew hasn't been seen since that night.

The Albatross will be docking in Solhaven for a short week of gambling between Olaesta 2nd and 6th. Under its new Captain, Gostahl, the riverboat has some plans to hire some new staff, as well as renovate the vessel's interior. Due to these changes, the Albatross will be halting all scheduled appearances after this trip until Koaratos, when it will be in Wehnimer's Landing. But fear not, Gostahl's Dicing will be held this voyage to Solhaven!

Famed Pirate Cidolfhus has also agreed to have his cart of wares just outside the Albatross this visit, sporting new items to purchase, as well as having made upgrades to previous equipment sold. He will be offering some services throughout this visit (unlocking to items from the cart).

Rumors also have circulated about the disappearance of former Captain Lahveew. Some believe he was in debt to the wrong people...

A few things to come in July (I hope). The Albatross will be getting a new layout. It will hopefully have things more easily to find and make a little more sense where all the games are (like how an actual casino has the table games and slot games on the main gambling floor). There won't be any new games added, but the shops will be completely renovated and new wares to buy. New staff (NPCs) on the riverboat will be available, hopefully offering some features that are desired. The food and drink will get a little more condensed, but in a good way, I hope.

There also have been some developments as to why Gostahl is now the captain of the Albatross, and what may have become of Lahveew. More will unravel during the next visit. Look forward to getting these all done and on the way before next trip! And just to help with any confusion, the only Albatross exclusive merchant right now is Gostahl. The rest of my merchants might come around on the Albatross, but they aren't Albatross exclusive (i.e. Cidolfhus, Reddas, etc).

The 14th of Koaratos marks a glorious day for Captain Gostahl of the Albatross, as his hard work will have finally paid off. The riverboat has been fully renovated and will be at the middle dock on the 14th of this month! With the new layout, the Albatross should be much easier to traverse, with each floor designed in the patron's or guest's best interest.

With the renovation, the Albatross welcomes some new features. The famed merchant Joola has been commissioned to have her wares in a permanent shop on the second floor of the riverboat. You can now find her fancy inventory in the Lady Luck's Lounge! There is also a brand new cigar shop selling pipe and rolling tobacco. Be sure to read the sign!

There is also a new game on the Albatross, the chain tumblers. Pull the chain for a mere 100 silvers and hope you get lucky! There are plenty of seats, so don't hesitate to join in on the gambling fun!

You'll find more employees on the riverboat as well, and those that were there before are a little more active now, and have plenty of things to tell you if you ask them! You can also enjoy the new Bewildered Buffet with an assortment of new foods. There are several tables you may sit at as well, located in the new buffet, a great place to rest between adventures, or just a place to mingle with friends.

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Albatross and experienced the new updates. I hope you all enjoyed them. I had a lot of feedback, and hopefully I can make some minor tweaks to enhance your experience for the next time the Albatross is out. There were a lot of updates to the NPCs that were on the Albatross (I spent a solid month fleshing them out), I hope most their secrets got explored! I really enjoy being the event coordinator for the Albatross, and I really do have a lot of fun playing along with everyone.

Just wanted to post here that the October trip for the Albatross will be a little shorter than the norm, as it will only be open for the weekend (I'll actually get it open on Thursday and it will be open till Sunday at noon). It's all on the calendar as of right now.

Some updates (based on your feedback) will be introduced, but not until next year. Gostahl's Dicing and Dragon Bones will get scheduled as we get closer to October.

It was late in the afternoon when Gostahl made his way down to the Gambler's Rest to make an announcement. Dressed in his formal attire, the Captain of the Albatross spoke to those gathered.

Gostahl announces, "I'm saddened to announce this, but the Albatross will need to be withdrawing from its quarterly visits. It will still be coming north in the summer, around Cholen's Eve, but we will be moving to an annual schedule. This is largely due to the strain on the riverboat!"

Gostahl continues, "But the week we visit will have a much more detailed itinerary!"

Gostahl states, "We will have more for you to enjoy, I can ensure you."

Gostahl urges, "Based on your feedback, we will see about adding more Let It Ride tables, and try to offer more options for players."

Sweeping his arm outward, Gostahl bows low in a grand fashion.

Hey guys, for those that weren't on the Albatross during this, just wanting to let you know, as of 2013, the Albatross will be moving to an annual visit, instead of quarterly. This is largely due to spreading what I can offer too thin. I really want to be able to hit expectations. So we're going to bring it once a year in July. I will still work with Bardfest so we don't have conflicting schedules. And the future of Dicing will be changing. I'm not sure how so at this time, but I'm going to give it a complete makeover.

I know we're a long ways out from another Albatross visit. But I finally had some time to get a few updates done.

The barmaid and bartender can now be asked for WHISKEY, COCKTAIL, or ALE, instead of always getting the same type of drink. The barmaid, bartender, and swabber can now be asked about RUMORS.

Let It Ride now has a total of ten tables, instead of the two. Now if there is another tournament, players can have a fair chance.

Pirate Lottery is now functional, which is basically keno.

Roulette still has some oddities, but it's a very rare happening.

The cashier and Pirate Lottery have been swapped (sorry mapmakers).

Gostahl's Dicing will not be coming back in 2013. It is officially retired. In it's place, I hope to offer something different and equally as good to further spec out your existing equipment. But there will be a bigger risk vs reward. More details as I have them.

The Albatross will be docking in the landing, at the middle dock, July 1st. It will be a pretty mild trip this visit, but there will be some interesting story arcs. Will there be RPAs? You'll have to come and find out.

It was late in the evening when Parlay boarded the Albatross. Gostahl knew of the halfling from the Spitfire, but what proceeded next, no one could have guessed. The two were seen in Gostahl's Lounge, playing the new dice game that debuted last night. But this time, there was a twist. Winner takes the riverboat! It's unclear what Gostahl would have won, but it doesn't matter now. Some say Gostahl doesn't lose unless he wants to. But the mystery will remain as to why the gambler bet the riverboat!

OOC Note: Parlay is now the new owner of the Albatross. The NPCs aboard the Albatross have all been updated with some of their question set. There is also a new NPC, a drunken priest, that you may see if you die playing Dragon Bones. You'll just have to PRAY after being thrown out of the room into the Gambler's Rest. The Albatross is in good hands with GM Kenstrom!

The storylines leading up to this are different between Prime and Platinum, but have resulted in the same outcome. Gostahl's storyline is just beginning a new chapter, for those who have been following it.

I definitely enjoyed running the gambling riverboat, but with my duties increasing, it was becoming difficult to give the Albatross the attention it deserves!
