I came to her in Autumn's mist, 
When war had left my Haven. 
In silent couch I wept to her, 
For peasants I wanted her savin'. 

I laid a brick upon her altar, 
With my fears that would not dry, 
I begged of her to send me, 
One to teach me how in joy to cry. 

Her voice it did not touch me, 
No smile rose upon her face. 
But still the Winged One heard, 
And sent one for my embrace. 

He came to me in Fall, 
Its something I had missed, 
He joined me over spine, 
Not knowing what I'd wished.

Blue eyes seem to shimmer, 
When tilted to sunlight. 
But he prefers the solitude, 
And lingers in the night. 

She gathers who she wishes, 
The Winged One knows her art. 
As my candles burned for her, 
She knew who'd heal my heart. 

We passed beneath the arches, 
Where stallions kept him at bay. 
We watched while they crumbled, 
Not knowing the part we'd play. 

He came to me in Winter, 
When snow lay on the land. 
He spoke to me of Cranes, 
With bow clutched in his hand. 

He cradled me by fire, 
Then took away my pain. 
He saved me from sorrow, 
When my heart was slain. 

He bore my heart's burden, 
And held him with a mask. 
But I knew that time was time, 
And the Lady knew her task. 

He bathed away my poisons, 
And washed away my bruises, 
He pressed upon me healin', 
His love is what he uses. 

He came to me in Fall, 
Its something I had missed, 
He joined me over spine, 
Not knowing what I'd wished. 

He came to me in Winter, 
When snow lay on the land. 
He spoke to me of Cranes, 
With bow clutched in his hand. 

I'll go to him in Spring, 
When my heart is healed, 
I'll not speak of sorrow, 
But of our love revealed.
