			Glahnvis had always known Daly wasn't afraid to ask dangerous questions. The kind that stirred dust off bones and pried into places meant to stay forgotten.

			He didn’t need to follow her to know what she was doing. Every time they docked, she vanished with that stormy look in her eye, focused, impatient and somewhat haunted. He’d seen it before. Worn it, once.. Maybe twice.

			Caligos had swallowed almost everything. When the island sank, it didn’t just drown homes and people, it erased identities. Birth records, licenses, family names, all gone or scattered into the black-market ether. Paper ghosts, traded like relics by smugglers who wouldn’t flinch at trafficking a past for the right price.

			And yet, somehow, he knew Daly would manage to chase it down. He had heard whispers around town. Whispers of favors traded, threats made, blood spilled. Typical Daly. He knew she would burn a map just to light her path. He knew he would do the same.

			What he didn't know was that she had found someone. A wiry document peddler with a grin sharp enough to cut parchment, hidden in some half-collapsed lighthouse.

			Two days later, she had them, two brittle sheets of history, faded but intact. Birth certificates. One for her. One for him.

			She stared at the names, the dates, the truths etched in ink. Her reaction, held no fury. Just a cold, clear reckoning.

			They were half-siblings. She was older, twelve years. Different fathers. Same mother.

			It explained the way they moved, the way they clashed. It explained the look in her eye and the tug in his gut when he first called her “sister” as a joke.

			It hadn’t been a joke.

			Daly returned to The Madness late in the day, the sun hanging low and crooked in the sky. He was working the irons, the hammer’s rhythm a comfort. He didn’t glance up until he felt her shadow fall over him.

			“Found what you were looking for?” he asked, though he already knew.

			She didn’t answer. Just handed him the folded papers.

			He read them. Once. Twice. The words didn’t shock him, not really. They settled in his chest like something that had been waiting there all along, just waiting for proof.

			“So,” he said slowly, a crooked grin tugging at his mouth. “Guess I wasn’t joking.”

			“No,” she said, calm as salt. “You weren’t.”

			The wind stirred the ashen hemp sails, that eerie ocean quiet falling between them. For a time, they said nothing. Then Glahnvis raised a brow, the grin spreading just enough.

			“Well… sister,” he muttered, “I suppose I get a pass now for every time I poisoned you after your botched garrote ambushes.”

			She smirked, and for the first time in weeks, it reached her eyes. "Whatever, little brother."

			As she turned to leave, she threw a hiss over her shoulder like a dagger, sharp, familiar, and defiant. Glahnvis chuckled and hissed back without hesitation.

			Whatever storm came next, whatever awaited them past the horizon, at least now they’d face it not just as crewmates…
			…but as blood.
