New page

''[Ceiluir Glade, Gazebo]''

As Kalyrra gently closed her journal, she let out a breath she'd not realized she was holding. The sound of the torrential downpour once again caught her attention. How long would this rain continue? A quiet sound had her quickly turning to find the cause. She grinned at Medijine as she entered the gazebo. "You're getting better at that! You made it closer this time, even with all of the puddles out there." The girl nodded, giving the journal a curious glance. "That book isn't the same one you bring to training." Kalyrra replied, "The one I use while we're training helps me keep track of everyone's progress. This one is more personal."

Medijine furrowed her brow as she took a seat. "What do you write in it?" Kalyrra grinned at the girl's curiosity, and responded, "I guess the best answer is that you write about whatever you want. You might write about what you did that day, who you spoke with, where you went..."

"What do you write in yours?" Kalyrra was unsure of the best answer. She glanced at Medijine as she debated how honest her response should be. She didn't want to be too specific, but thought being more open might benefit the girl.

"Keeping a journal is still new for me. The things I put in it are different depending on what's going on. Some days, I write about important things that have happened. Other days, I fill a page with random thoughts or drawings." Kalyrra turned her gaze to the angry clouds on the horizon as she hesitantly continued. "And sometimes, I write about memories or how I'm feeling that day."

There was a short silence before Medijine spoke again, her tone quiet and uncertain. "Why write about those things?" Kalyrra turned back to the girl, and gave her a small grin. She hoped her answer would be enough. "...to get them out of my head for even just a little while."

Turning her attention back outside to the sheets of rain as they continued to fall, she allowed the girl's expression to go unnoticed. Several moments passed in silence before she heard a quiet whisper. "...does it help?"

Kalyrra pulled a brand new book out of her cloak as she glanced at the girl hopefully. "So far, I think it does...at least a bit." Medijine stared at the offered book, the internal debate visible in her eyes. She silently accepted it with a slight nod and held the book close.

After hearing only the thunder and rain for a minute or two, Kalyrra cleared her throat and did her best to summon what she hoped was a happy grin as she changed the subject. For both their sakes. "So, how are your other training sessions going?"
