A single sheet of paper has a maximum character limit of up to 15 blocks of 900 characters each. Blocks will automatically separate into paragraphs, but carriage returns can be added manually by inserting "|" for each line break. Two "||" are needed to create a space between paragraphs. To write using mail paper, hold the paper in one hand and a writing implement in the other and use the format of {{boldmono|WRITE <paper>;<message>}}. Writing a new sentance after having written on the paper will automatically add a single space in between the previous text and the next sentence. If the new sentance would cause the current block of text to go over 900 characters, a new paragraph will be automatically added with a space between it and the previous paragraph.

Mail paper can be written in any known language except Guildspeak. Use {{boldmono|SPEAK <language>}} ''before'' writing anything to set the language for the entire sheet of paper. Languages cannot be changed midway through a single piece of paper. Mail paper cannot have a message erased once it has been written. If a mistake has been made, the document will need to be re-written on a new sheet of mail paper. Mail paper can be permanently destroyed via {{boldmono|TOSS}} or {{boldmono|THROW}}, which do ''not'' prompt for confirmation.

Mail paper can be made via a Tier 2 [[Papermaker]].
