Stampbooks hold a set number of stamps, typically 10, and can be purchased from a post office. A stampbook can be used to directly apply a stamp onto an envelope or parcel via PUT, or an individual stamp can be removed first via PULL. ==Additional Information==
Envelopes and parcles must have something inside in order to be sent via the mail system. Both mail paper and stationery paper work with mail system envelopes and parcels, although each type of paper has its own benefits and drawbacks.

Stamps applied to postcards are not displayed or indicated in any way on the postcard.

Stamp Speeds
Stamps and stampbooks come in three varieties: standard, express, and first class. Both the speed of delivery and the cost to mail it increases with each stamp type.

Customizing
Mail system items can be combined to seal envelopes and parcels. This is done via a signet and wax compatible with the mailing system. Wax and signets can modify how the envelope or parcel looks. In addition, stamps are also displayed on the envelope or package, allowing for a wide range of customization.

Be sure to LOOK at envelopes received in the mail before opening them as they are destroyed in the process!
;Envelope, Sealed
<prelog2>
A heavy green parchment envelope is a parcel meant for sending letters or very small trinkets to other adventurers. Affixed to the front is a daisy-inked light pink stamp marking the envelope as a piece of express mail. The stamp is decorated with intricate artwork:

The light pink stamp is covered with tiny daisies.

An intact blob of pristine white wax imprinted with a sprig of aconite wreathing a coiled basilisk is affixed to the envelope.
</pre>

;Package, Broken Seal
Unlike envelopes, packages are not destroyed when they are opened. As a result, if they have been sealed with wax and a signet, the broken seal is identified in the package's LOOK/SHOW description.
<prelog2>
A string-bound oilcloth package is a parcel meant for sending items to other adventurers. Affixed to the front is a daisy-inked light pink stamp marking the package as a piece of express mail. The stamp is decorated with intricate artwork:

The light pink stamp is covered with tiny daisies.

A broken blob of pristine white wax imprinted with a sprig of aconite wreathing a coiled basilisk is affixed to the package.
</pre>

;Spent and Default Stamps
Stamps are single use. Once an envelope or parcel has been sent through the mail, the stamp on it changes appearance to note that it has been used already.

In addition, if a stamp has not be manually applied to an envelope or parcel prior to mailing it and instead the item has been mailed by paying the postmaster directly, the stamp on the outside of the envelope or parcel will not be decorated with intricate artwork. It will still have some sort of default appearance, but the additional lines noting that the stamp's details look like will be omitted.
<prelog2>
Affixed to the front is a small mint green stamp marking the envelope as a piece of mail, but the stamp appears to have been used already.
