== On Clockwerke and Clockwork ==
While the generally accepted spelling in Common is "clockwork," there was a burghal gnome several hundred years ago who purposefully began spelling the term "clockwerke" as an initiative to highlight his unique engineering accomplishments. This gnome tried to claim it solely for his own goods and wares, but the popularity of the alternative spelling quickly grew a life of its own.

Small pockets of burghals took to the term, finding it a fun way to bend the Common term on its ear and make it more "burghalish."

While it is still not as popular as "clockwork," one may see "clockwerke" in shops and communities. The words are mostly interchangeable at this point, with the clockwerke tartan of [[The Tartan Initiative]] being an exception where it is always spelled as clockwerke. Some will state that "clockwerke" shall only be used for burghal gnome-crafted clockwork items, but as with all things language-related, those lines are quickly blurred and rarely adhered to.
