* When stirring a pot or pan with {{boldmono|TURN}}, a [[Stovetop cooking spoon|spoon]] is used in preference to an oven mitt.
* Both the single "oven mitt" and the pair of "oven mitts" work with the stovetop cooking system.
* An oven mitt allows a [[portable stove]] to be picked up while it is cooling off after being put out. It does not help while the stove is still lit, or once ashes need to be cleaned out.
