Natum abn Tsan Sagan - a.k.a. - Festival of the White Star
***********************************************************************************************************
The darkest days are fading. The march to summer has begun.
Join the Steppes Halflings in the most cherished observance of the year! The Festival of the White Star, a radiant beacon of hope against the cruel winter begins on Eorgaen 5th. We gather to honor the arrival of Caeliabol, the White Stag Star, the brightest light in The Paladin, signaling the turn of the year and the promise of warmth to come.
When & Where
Though observed wherever our people winter, the grandest celebration will take place from Eorgaen 5 to Eorgaen 10 on the shores of Lake Khesta'dahl. The welcoming village of Halan Lea in Saen Valaire opens its arms to welcome those who want to visit the icy waters as they mirror the star's brilliant light.
Join the Traditions: Come witness, or participate in, the rites that bind our community:
The Stag of Light: Watch as our young halflings present their handcrafted crowns of white-painted antlers, vying for the honor of being named the buk abn kaaman (Stag of Light), who will lead the procession to the lake.
The Star-Catchers' Plunge: In the coldest hours, witness the brave anajin-abn-tsan (star-catchers) dive into the frigid lake, hoping to bring forth the brilliant, white glow of the phosphorescent waterthyme that is starlight made tangible!
The Power of the Oath: Take advantage of this auspicious time! Oaths spoken under the light of Caeliabol are considered the most sacred and binding a halfling can make.
The Star-Silence - Tsiimaga abn Tsan: On the central night, as midnight approaches, a profound moment awaits. Drums will cease, songs will fade, and a hush will fall over the shore. This Star-Silence is a solemn time to remember all those who will not see the coming spring.
Seek the Reflection: It is a great blessing to see Caeliabol's perfect reflection in the still waters during this time. Let us pray for a smooth, unbroken surface, portending a calm and quiet year ahead.
You are invited to share in the warmth of community, the light of the stars, and the enduring hope of the Steppes people.
Come to the shores, look up to the White Stag Star, and feel the promise of a brighter year.

The floor of the ger is covered with woven reed mats, some stained with dry blood and others with various seasonings. A pair of huge fish jawbones is adjoined in the center of the roof, where the rafters are secured to their large, jagged teeth. Bright white walls of thick felt are well kept, with only a few lightly stained patches near a short wooden rack from the day-to-day toil.
