Summary

  • Amos is playing Let It Ride aboard the gambling boat, the Albatross, where others come to greet and talk with him. He says he's confident that Thrayzar is in Jantalar; Faerinn checks that Amos hasn't seen him and he says no, he wasn't permitted an audience yet. However, he will, and wants everyone to accompany him as he suspects it'll go unplanned. He double checks that everyone still wants him back and Mayor Leafiara says she's pretty sure the captains are interested and Amos says we'll intend to get him back without bloodshed, but Leafi says we'll probably face complications both getting him back and after he's back since even Grishom Stone is interested in his return for some reason.
  • Amos says he's sorry to hear the news about Khylon, who had drive. Faerinn says he wasn't surprised to see his killer, and Amos asks about that--seeing him, and if Khylon told us of that. Faerinn explains it was his loresong.
  • Amos says he hopes we smoke out the Knave sooner than later, to avenge Khylon and also selfishly for a measure of order as it's difficult to profit in chaos. Leafi adds that there are additional reasons, as they attacked Magister Raelee previously and claimed they want to take over the entire region. He calls that a bold claim and she says they've been more successful than most enemies, but their resources aren't endless.
  • Goldstr asks about when we'll be going to Jantalar and Amos says he'll know more in the coming week, as he has allies collecting information for him--Scions of Shaundara who he's aided in the past. Leafi asks how we'll get there and wonders if Ayred is still around, and Amos says transportation has already been secured.
  • Azyrial, Amos' blue-haired firefly, whispers something to him before walking off. Amos says she's brought good news that Captain Parlya has sold him the Albatross. He invites everyone to continue to play and lose to the House.
  • Meanwhile, Amos reiterates that he'll have more details about the trip to Jantalar soon and now adds that Lady Alendrial has arranged for Ayred to aid with transportation. He leaves on other business for the night.
  • After he's gone, the gathered crowd discusses mysteries such as Alendrial and Amos striking a deal and possible ulterior motives for such, whether the fireflies are go-betweens for Amos and Stephos, the chances and implications of Alendrial possibly being Mother, and Amos taking advantage of Larsya's political inexperience.

Gambling Man

[Town Square Central]

This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer's Landing. The impromptu shops of the bazaar are clustered around this central gathering place, where townsfolk, travellers, and adventurers meet to talk, conspire or raise expeditions to the far-flung reaches of Elanith. At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep. You also see the Farend disk, the Kelstien disk, the translucent Qushai disk, a raven that is flying around, the Demandred disk, a reinforced shield, the vermeil Rendena disk draped with silver strands of tidal pearls, some acantha leaf, a frosted peach cookie, a large acorn, a tiny flower-shaped tart, a pale-faced coppery barn owl, a tincture of acantha, a tincture of acantha, a tincture of acantha, a tincture of acantha, a tincture of acantha, a large acorn, the orange Torpe disk, the Manns disk, the clam-shaped Immoras disk, the Kasula disk, some stone benches with some stuff on it and an herbal remedy donation bin. Also here: Goldstr, Great Lord Farend, Kelstien, Zurya, Carog, Barrister Faerinn, Celsore, Qushai, Alvyara, High Lady Maevie, Mayor Leafiara, Lord Zolis, High Lord Demandred, Kippe, Keemar, Temujen, Wulves, Kravendeh, Kalidor, Chaser Rendena, Lord Towdoh who is sitting, Yardie, Berost, Marijka, Dafixer, Brokah who is sitting, Great Lord Torpe, Manns, Lady Immoras, Squire Legionnaire Kasula, Wardrob

Some passing townspeople can be overheard saying, "....and I heard someone saw Amos at the ruby table for Let it Ride on the Albatross...but I don't dare try to out gamble him...." They wander off.

Leafiara dubiously asks, "Where's Beldannon when we need him?"

Faerinn says, "I'll go grab a grand."

Leafiara recites:

"Everybody join, uh... me, I guess!"

Goldstr says, "Prolly fishin."

Towdoh asks, "What fer?"

Leafiara admits, "I don't even know how to play this game."

Alvyara says, "I think we're going gambling."

Leafiara tentatively asks, "Do I need money?"

Alvyara asks, "Why not?"

Alvyara says, "Never hurts to carry money."

Leafiara recites:

"Heading for the bank in a few!"

Leafiara recites:

"3..."

Leafiara recites:

"2..."

Leafiara recites:

"1..."

Leafiara recites:

"To the bank!"

[First Elanith Bank, Teller]

Most of the teller windows that line this room are missing the gates and gratings that once secured them. Impatient clients stand at one of the two intact windows, waiting to get the attention of the tellers on the other side. You also see a sturdy wooden table, a large sign and a low arch.

Markx, Stormyrain, Goldstr, Alvyara, Maevie and Kippe followed.

Leafiara recites:

"Getcher money for gamblin' if ya wanna gamble!"

Leafiara recites:

"Is everyone all ready?"

Goldstr says, "Gots a bit."

Leafiara recites:

"I'm taking silence as a yes!"

Leafiara recites:

"Aaaand moving."

Leafiara recites:

"Join up if ya want to head gambling!"

Leafiara recites:

"Or don't if ya don't!"

Leafiara curiously says, "Small crowd, got it."

Speaking to Leafiara, Kippe says, "It's so complicated."

Leafiara recites:

"Movin' out!"

[Albatross, Main Deck]

Starlight glints off the polished rosewood and mahogany decks between the glowing lanterns strung up overhead. A mahogany-framed entry inlaid with ornate gold filigree leads inside the riverboat, while the deck wraps about it all. Carefully piled silk rope sits next to a gaily beribboned mahogany gangplank leading off the boat, which is adorned with carved mistwood albatross perched along the railings.

Xorus, Markx, Goldstr, Alvyara, Maevie, Kippe and Rendena followed.

Leafiara says, "Ruby table, ruby table..."

Goldstr says, "Guess we looks fer dat thug Amos."

Leafiara says, "Hmmm."

[Albatross, Let It Ride Lobby]

The lobby branches off into a number of gemstone tile tables that lead to individual games being played. An enormous chandelier hanging from the ceiling dangles prismatic crystal cards, each varying in hue, which brighten the floorspace. You also see the vermeil Rendena disk draped with silver strands of tidal pearls.

Leafiara says, "Ah."

>go ruby table

[Let It Ride, Ruby Table]

Small windows along one wall permit a view of the deck and the sunlight-drenched waters far below. Richly hued chestnut marble flooring sparkles as if dusted with gold, and rosewood paneling polished to a luminous glow encloses the room. However, the focal point is a tile table sparkling with rubies. A dealer stands behind the table, and a sign is propped up on it. You also see the sparkling Syphaer disk. Also here: Syphaer, Barrister Faerinn, Squire Legionnaire Iskandr, Lord Amos who is sitting

Amos says, "Perhaps they need more to gossip on."

Amos grins.

Amos nods at Faerinn.

Speaking to Amos, Iskandr says, "I wasted a fortune here last night with only the champagne fountain to keep my company, but did want to gawk as well."

Amos says, "My trip went well enough. I should have more information for all of us soon."

Amos grins at Iskandr.

Speaking ruefully to Amos, Leafiara says, "We were looking for Beldannon, but I think he's already been here. ...a lot."

Amos places 225000 silvers on the table as his bet.

Amos says, "I am confident the orc you're seeking is the one in Jantalar."

Speaking curiously to Amos, Leafiara asks, "Jantalar, eh?"

Speaking to Leafiara, Alvyara whispers aloud, "We're seeking an orc?"

Leafiara says, "One of our... favorite... regions."

Amos nods at Leafiara.

Faerinn asks, "Oh, but you haven't gotten him yet? Have you seen him?"

Speaking offhandedly to Alvyara, Leafiara says, "Oh, yes, he's our marshal--or was."

A tile dealer asks, "What will it be, Alvyara? Do you wish to pull back a third of your original wager, or do you wish to let it ride?"

Speaking to a tile dealer, Alvyara says, "I'll let it ride."

Maevie says, "I must sleep."

Iskandr says, "A shame sometimes that they don't let you wager even more when you feel good about it."

Maevie asks, "Will there be gambling tomorrow?"

Amos says, "No, I was not permitted an audience yet. We shall get one though."

Iskandr says, "The house would surely make a bit more off confidence."

Maevie says, "Thank you Ms. Mayor."

Amos says, "You will all accompany me, of course. I suspect it will go...unplanned."

Speaking to Amos, Leafiara says, "That's a shame, quite a long way and time to travel to not even get an audience."

Amos says, "I had other various business to tend to. It was not a waste."

Leafiara nods understandingly at Amos.

Amos glances at the house tile.

[General] Chandrellia asks, "Anyone seen Amos?"

[General] Amos thinks, "Yes."

A tile dealer begins to sweat, hoping he'll still have employment after this round.

[General] Eoghain asks, "How recently?"

[General] Goldstr thinks, "He on da Albatross."

[General] Farend exclaims, ""Amos can definitely see himself!"

Speaking to Amos, Faerinn says, "You know I have to ask, but where were you the night the barracks was destroyed."

[General] Chandrellia thinks, "Aahh Hello Amos welcome back.... was looking for you on the riverboat thought you would fancy a game, you being a gambling man and all."

Amos asks, "You are still eager to help return him, yes?"

[General] Eoghain asks, "Can anyone truly see themselves?"

Amos glances at the house tiles.

Leafiara says, "Well... at a time like this, I wish the captains were here. They knew him the best."

Amos glances at a tile dealer and grins.

Leafiara says, "But I'm pretty sure they were interested."

Amos nods.

Amos says, "Good. We'll see him home."

Amos says, "Without blood, is the intention."

Amos places 225000 silvers on the table as his bet.

Raelee quietly asks, "... and then what?"

Goldstr says, "And dat be verra good."

Leafiara wryly says, "I'm sure we'll have to deal with complications both getting him back and when he is back too."

Leafiara reminds, "...not everyone who's interested in his return necessarily has the best of intentions, after all."

Kippe casually glances at Leafiara.

Speaking to Kippe, Leafiara mouths, "Stone."

Speaking to Leafiara, Goldstr says, "Den dey kin face me blade Madam mayor."

Leafiara turns to Goldstr and cheers!

Faerinn says, "Still very weird to me that Stone can't detect someone in Jantalar."

Amos peers quizzically at Raelee.

Speaking to Faerinn, Goldstr asks, "Who says he canna?"

Amos makes a pulling motion at his tiles, indicating to a tile dealer that he'd like to pull some of his wager. A tile dealer pushes 75000 silvers back at Amos, which he quickly pockets.

Amos asks, "Then what, in regards to the orc?"

Leafiara says, "He's the one who claimed it, but--yeah, he's probably lying."

Amos shrugs.

Amos says, "That is your business to decide."

Leafiara adds, "And his."

Speaking to Amos, Raelee says, "I do not think most would regard it as my business to decide."

Leafiara says, "I believe that's most people's thinking in this--we want him to be free to his own choices and life again."

Iskandr says, "I'm amazed you can throw so much at a man trying to gamble."

Avenging Khylon

Amos says, "You are down a marshal. I am sorry to hear the news of Khylon. He had drive."

Amos glances at the house tile.

Amos taps on his tile, indicating to a tile dealer that he'd like to let his wager ride.

Alvyara asks, "Is gambling the important thing?"

Speaking to Alvyara, Iskandr asks, "For the gambler, I'd imagine, perhaps?"

Speaking to Amos, Faerinn says, "He was not surprised to see his killer."

Amos glances at the house tiles.

Speaking to Amos, Leafiara says, "He did, and personality among many other things..."

Amos asks, "He saw his killer?"

Leafiara says, "Once the current problems are resolved, I'm sure we'll take some time to honor him."

Faerinn nods at Amos.

Faerinn says, "And recognized them."

Amos asks, "He told you of this?"

Faerinn says, "And Khylon wasn't the least surprised about it."

Leafiara says, "Thought he 'should've known' who the Knave was, on sight--at least, that's what the story was."

Amos places 225000 silvers on the table as his bet.

Speaking to Amos, Faerinn says, "In the ways the dead can, yes."

Leafiara agrees, "In a manner of speaking."

Amos says, "Ah. I see."

[General] Berost asks, "Where tha gamblin at?"

Amos says, "A corpse song."

Faerinn says, "We sang a duet post mortum."

Leafiara says, "Faerinn here was the one who found out."

Amos says, "It is my hope you smoke out the Knave sooner rather than later."

Speaking to Amos, Faerinn says, "Indeed."

Amos says, "To avenge your friend and marshal, and, selfishly, for a measure of order in this town."

Amos says, "It is difficult to profit in chaos."

Amos says, "Not impossible. But difficult."

Amos taps on his tiles, indicating to a tile dealer that he'd like to let his wager ride.

Regional Affairs

Leafiara adds, "There are more reasons than that, too, as they had attacked the Magister here before and claimed they want to take over the entire region."

Amos asks, "The entire region?"

Amos says, "A bold claim."

Speaking to Raelee, Leafiara asks, "That is what they said, right?"

Leafiara nods at Amos.

Alvyara asks, "How big of a region are they talking about?"

Amos says, "Something not yet accomplished."

Speaking to Amos, Leafiara says, "I agree, it seemed untenable at first. But they've been more successful so far than most of our enemies."

Leafiara says, "That said... their resources aren't endless."

Amos glances at the house tile.

Amos taps on his tile, indicating to a tile dealer that he'd like to let his wager ride.

Amos says, "No, I suppose not."

Amos frowns.

Speaking to Amos, Goldstr asks, "Whens ye plan fer us to go to Jantalar?"

Alvyara mumbles, "How do you even win this?"

Faerinn asks, "And what method are we retrieving him?"

Speaking to Alvyara, Iskandr exclaims, "Luck!"

Leafiara reasons, "Not that our resources are endless either, of course, but... there's a natural limit to the Knave's possible success, which is the bounds of the outpost."

Leafiara hurriedly says, "Anyway, as for this Jantalar trip, yes, I'm curious as well."

Faerinn says, "I don't mind busting up a Jantalar slave trader. I would be eager for it."

Amos places 225000 silvers on the table as his bet.

Iskandr says, "I'm always game for busting up slave traders."

Leafiara remarks, "Good old Jantalarian hospitality."

Amos taps on his tiles, indicating to a tile dealer that he'd like to let his wager ride.

Amos says, "I will know more in the coming week."

Amos says, "I have some allies, some of the Scions I've assisted in the past, collecting some information for me."

Amos glances at the house tile.

Amos taps on his tile, indicating to a tile dealer that he'd like to let his wager ride.

Amos says, "We cannot go in blind."

[General] Dwi thinks, "Noway! I aint no junior gardener anymore."

Leafiara curiously asks, "Information is one matter, yes, but how we'll get there is another. I presume we have someone skilled in long-range portals?"

A tile dealer flips over Amos's tiles and has a look. He has a five of sapphires, a seven of coins, and a five of emeralds.

A tile dealer grumbles a little and says, "Amos has two pair."

A tile dealer none-too-happily counts out 450000 silvers and hands them to him along with his remaining wager.

Amos grins.

Leafiara says, "We used to have a man named Ayred here who was talented at that kind of thing. He might still be around, actually, but... haven't heard from him in years."

Amos says, "I believe I shall end on that. As a winner."

Amos smirks.

Amos decides he doesn't want to play after all, and stands back away from the table.

Speaking to Leafiara, Raelee says, "... if people can make it across the Dragonspine without a portal, they can make it to Jantalar."

Amos nods at Leafiara.

Alvyara says, "I've got to win just once."

Speaking to Raelee, Leafiara says, "Well, yes, but we need to be able to.... withdraw afterward."

Amos says, "Transporation has already been secured."

Leafiara adds, "Potentially."

Leafiara nods understandingly at Amos.

Raelee says, "If one hikes the road down to Vornavis and heads east along the Outlands road, you are heading into Jantalar there."

Speaking to Leafiara, Iskandr says, "Feet work for going backwards too."

Speaking wryly to Iskandr, Leafiara says, "I mean quickly. Potentially real quickly."

Speaking softly to Leafiara, Chandrellia asks, "Wait, he wants us to go there?"

Speaking to Chandrellia, Leafiara says, "He'd be coming with, but yes."

Amos says, "You of all, should be familiar with the Scions of Shaundara."

Raelee says, "And furthermore, one does not require a specialist for a long range portal."

Amos nods at Leafiara. [past history with the war against Chaston]

Raelee flatly mentions, "They are not so complicated."

Speaking to Amos, Leafiara says, "Oh, I am, but I don't pry much."

Leafiara adds, "Usually."

Leafiara grins at Amos.

Speaking softly to Leafiara, Chandrellia asks, "So we'll need a small group to go yes?"

Speaking to Amos, Leafiara adds, "And you're not usually all that forthcoming with information when people do. But if you're volunteering now, by all means--I'm curious what's been going on with this very, very, very slow withdrawal of half-elven persecution and other matters they'd be interested in." ["they" being the Scions]

Speaking softly to Amos, Chandrellia asks, "So how do you feel about the Knave taking over your little section of thge town eh?"

Alvyara glances at the house tiles.

Alvyara says, "Hmph."

Albatross Around the Neck

A lithe blue-cloaked woman makes her way to the table, her icy blue eyes peering out from the shadowy cowl of her hood, accompanied by curls of light blue hair. She approaches Amos and stands near him, leaning in to whisper and then she quietly walks off.

Chandrellia softly asks, "Aahh one of your little birds here to sing yes?"

Amos grins.

Speaking to Chandrellia, Leafiara comments, "Birds, a bit of a step up from fireflies."

Speaking to Amos, Faerinn asks, "Does Azyrial say it's bath time already?"

Speaking softly to Amos, Chandrellia asks, "Just curious, will your songbirds be with us on this trip?"

Chandrellia softly says, "Birds are easier to shoot from the sky."

Amos says, "Azyrial has brought me good news."

Alvyara asks, "Oh?"

Chandrellia softly says, "Of course fireflies do look cute trapped in a jar."

Amos says, "Please, feel free to continue to play, and lose as much as you want to the House."

Amos grins.

Amos says, "Captain Parlay has officially sold me the Albatross."

Alvyara asks, "You own this ship?"

Faerinn says, "Yeah, I was expecting you to say that next."

Amos nods at Faerinn.

Amos asks, "Can you fault me?"

Leafiara amiably says, "Ah, we'll inform Beldannon. He'll be your best customer, I'm sure."

Amos says, "Excellent. He is welcome to play often."

Amos nods at Leafiara.

Amos smirks.

Speaking to Amos, Iskandr says, "Ah, probably best to own mobile Landing territory these days since everyone is grabbing what's nailed down and firm land."

Leafiara grins.

Alvyara says, "Well, I've made you two thousand coins the richer tonight."

Iskandr says, "Good investment."

Speaking softly to Leafiara, Chandrellia says, "I suspect the Blood Sons will not like his ship being in the docks they are, shall we say, overlooking at this time."

Faerinn says, "I heard it was full of corpses when it came in..."

Amos grins.

Speaking to Amos, Faerinn asks, "Was buying this ship the good news?"

Amos says, "As for our trip...yes, more to come. I'll explain in full detail before we go."

Amos nods at Leafiara.

Speaking to Amos, Leafiara adds, "And congratulations. This is quite a storied ship."

Amos nods at Faerinn.

Leafiara nods at Amos.

Amos says, "Indeed. A new investment. An opportunity for increased profits. That is indeed good news."

Amos nods at Faerinn.

Amos says, "Lady Alendrial has arranged for Ayred to aid us in our transportation needs."

Leafiara surprisedly says, "Ah, he is indeed still around. Excellent."

Raelee rolls her eyes.

Amos asks, "Were you hoping for that role, Magister?"

Amos smirks at Raelee.

Speaking to Amos, Raelee says, "No."

Alvyara whispers something to Kippe.

Speaking to Amos, Raelee says, "In truth, I likely would have told the lot of you to walk."

Amos waves his hand in a dismissive gesture.

Leafiara offhandedly says, "Her portals usually get attacked or broken somehow anyway, or both."

Leafiara quickly says, "Not her fault or anything, but I'd sure tire of making them if I were her."

Iskandr says, "Everyone hates walking....I just walked here from the East, it's not a big deal, even if you have to run."

Raelee squints at Leafiara.

Speaking wryly to Raelee, Leafiara says, "Well, it's true."

Speaking to Iskandr, Alvyara says, "It's worse in a skirt."

Amos says, "I've some further business to attend to."

Amos says, "I appreciate your company this evening."

Chandrellia softly says, "I'm sure you do."

Amos says, "Please, stay, enjoy, lose bets."

Alvyara mumbles, "And our money.."

Speaking to Alvyara, Iskandr says, "Can always dress for the journey."

Amos smirks.

Speaking to Iskandr, Goldstr exclaims, "Speak fer yeself I walks almos evrywhere an Smell da Roses!"

Speaking to Amos, Leafiara says, "We appreciate the information. We'll look forward to more and I'll inform the captains soon as I can."

Amos says, "We'll be in contact soon."

Amos nods at Leafiara.

Leafiara nods at Amos.

Speaking to Iskandr, Alvyara says, "Oh, I can't. It wouldn't look good at all."

Amos bows.

Lord Amos just went out.

Discussion Afterward

Leafiara musingly says, "And off he goes."

Goldstr says, "Least seems we gits Thrayzar back."

Speaking softly to Goldstr, Chandrellia says, "Something tells me it won't be that easy."

Leafiara says, "From last time Thadston talked with us, I wasn't able to tell if he even wants command of the militia back in the future or not."

Leafiara says, "It's possible Thrayzar would be our better bet."

Iskandr says, "Surprised Thadston isn't drunk at another table."

Speaking to Iskandr, Leafiara says, "He's... working on fighting the bleakwalker without needing that anymore."

Speaking softly to Iskandr, Chandrellia says, "He is tryng to change and get help, give hm that much credit."

Alvyara says, "I got... a little distracted by the gambling."

Speaking to Alvyara, Leafiara says, "Well, he said he'll have more info within the week, but whether that means we're also going within the week, I don't know."

Faerinn says, "I'm not familiar with this Ayred person. The transport."

Speaking to Leafiara, Iskandr says, "Yes, he seemed better last time I was around. I mean, better on a scale where he still has a long way to go toward 'good'."

Speaking softly to Iskandr, Chandrellia asks, "Don't we all?"

Leafiara says, "Ayred is... well, just wait until you see him, but he's nicknamed the Ivory Mage."

Alvyara says, "All right. I'm going to try to find my way off this ship without falling in the water."

Alvyara says, "Good night, everyone."

Leafiara says, "A master of portal magic, who was... persecuted in the past."

Iskandr says, "I'm going to drink and eat the free things."

Iskandr says, "There's a champagne fountain upstairs."

Speaking to Leafiara, Faerinn asks, "Persecuted in Jantalar?"

Goldstr says, "I will let da Order know a dis."

Chandrellia softly says, "I'm not touching anything on this ship now that it belongs to him."

Speaking to Faerinn, Leafiara admits, "I'm not sure of the full story, but.."

Speaking to Faerinn, Leafiara says, "He's a half-elf and faced persecution somewhere in the Empire."

Speaking to Chandrellia, Iskandr says, "If you can make a good enough dent in the free stuff, mayhbe you can put it out of business."

Speaking to Faerinn, Raelee says, "He is a frequent associate of the DeArchons."

Leafiara says, "His, uh... well, if I recall, his mouth is stitched up."

Speaking softly to Iskandr, Chandrellia says, "Only if I can throw it overboard."

Faerinn says, "Then I think I know a lot of that story."

Speaking to Leafiara, Raelee says, "Wired, I believe."

Leafiara says, "And yes, what the Magister said is correct too--works with the DeArchons often."

Leafiara nods slowly at Raelee.

Speaking to Raelee, Faerinn says, "Really. It's interesting to see Amos and the DeArchons are allies."

Leafiara muses, "Speaking of the DeArchons... if Alendrial has time to be making deals with Amos..."

Leafiara says, "Then either... either we can finally write her off as a candidate for being Mother, or she's potentially trying to get us out of the Landing for that night."

Goldstr says, "I trust da D'Archons almos as much as I do Stone."

Faerinn says, "I don't think the Fireflies are Amos'...."

Speaking softly to Leafiara, Chandrellia says, "That was my thought."

Chandrellia softly says, "Something just isn't clicking."

Leafiara says, "Okay. We'll see what we can do about leaving a contingent of adventurers here. I obviously have to go or it'll look suspicious, and probably the captains likewise."

Chandrellia softly asks, "Amos said he would strike a deal and bring it back to us if memory serves, now all of a sudden we have to go there?"

Leafiara says, "But there might be trouble in the Landing if we just leave it alone, even briefly."

Faerinn says, "They're his handlers from the DeArchons, I bet."

Goldstr says, "Ok Take care folks."

Speaking to Chandrellia, Leafiara says, "Yeah, apparently negotiations fell through--or, well, he said he didn't even get an audience successfully."

Faerinn says, "I thought it was weird that Amos made an alibi for himself but not the Fireflies."

Kippe curiously asks, "What's his connection to the Scions?"

Speaking to Kippe, Leafiara says, "He mentioned offhand that he'd aided them in the past, but that's the extent of what he said."

Speaking softly to Leafiara, Chandrellia says, "I don't think he even tried, I mean he came here to the riverboat upon his arrival, rather than let you know he was back and the information before gambling, his priorities lie within himself."

Leafiara wryly says, "He's always really bloody vague, I gotta say."

Iskandr says, "Well, I shall be around if you need a sword at some point. The Landing politics never make much sense to me, but as long as you don't tell me to raise a sword toward the King and any of his interests, happy to swing at what keeps this town slightly more restful."

Leafiara says, "Honestly, he might have just been trying to curry favor with me."

Faerinn says, "I'm still sure Stephos is the Knave, but Amos is connected to that organization. The Fireflies are the piece of that puzzle, I'm just not entirely sure where it fits."

Speaking confidently to Iskandr, Leafiara says, "At this point, the answer might be the Hapenlok plan. Kill everything and worry about the consequences later."

Iskandr exclaims, "Otherwise, I will try to go enjoy the festival and assure I'm not wearing the wrong gang colors in the wrong part of town!"

Chandrellia softly says, "Then let's put some fireflies in a jar and see how well they light up."

Iskandr says, "Good luck with the details, I'll be around when needed."

Leafiara says, "Incidentally... like Faerinn and I thought, their names match their hair colors."

Leafiara says, "Azyrial being the blue one."

Leafiara says, "Like azure."

Iskandr says, "Off to find a few free drinks."

Leafiara says, "Celadonna, then, is the green one."

Leafiara says, "And that leaves Rustilyn."

Faerinn says, "My best informed guess at the moment is that Amos works for Stephos and the Fireflies keep the two connected."

Speaking softly to Faerinn, Chandrellia says, "Now that would be something."

Leafiara says, "Following this chain of thought for a moment..."

Leafiara says, "Either Alendrial is Mother... *again*... or she's not. If she's not, then Stephos as the Knave is attacking the Rooks despite past connections to them."

Leafiara says, "If she *is*, that's--well, far harder to explain away."

Chandrellia softly says, "Would make even more sense for each of them to hold a spot either as marshal or as a council memeber."

Leafiara says, "And of course the two are the only ones who haven't been attacked."

Chandrellia softly says, "Get both within thge ranks and they will have free run of Landing."

Faerinn asks, "Stephos was an arms dealer, could he be the source of the hand pylons?"

Leafiara says, "Still no word from Renpaw on that decision, by the way."

Speaking musingly to Faerinn, Leafiara says, "That's a good point, no doubt he has connections who might be able to modify them."

Chandrellia softly asks, "I thought Amos had the handle on the pylons?"

Leafiara says, "He does, but claims the acid ones are being made without his authorization or knowledge."

Faerinn says, "He sells them and knows how to customize a few things."

Faerinn says, "But they come from someone else."

Chandrellia softly says, "So what we are thinking, as of course we don't assume anything...."

Leafiara says, "It seems like something the Hall of Mages would make, which maybe is part of why Octaven was taken away."

Chandrellia softly says, "Is that Stephos is making them and Amos is dealing them."

Faerinn says, "If Stephos is the origin of them, he can probably mod them with acid. Or have someone who can."

Chandrellia softly says, "This way if anything happens to Amos, then Stephos can't be connected and can find another dealer to move his wares."

Chandrellia softly says, "Seems too easy tho."

Leafiara says, "And vice versa too... if Faerinn's theories hold that the fireflies are the go-between."

Chandrellia softly asks, "Any way to capture the fireflies and put em in a jar?"

Faerinn says, "Or Amos can take the fall for Stephos if exposed."

Speaking softly to Faerinn, Chandrellia says, "Again good point."

Leafiara says, "If only."

Faerinn says, "Celedonna has been out in the crowds. I've spotted her now and then, but haven't been able to get close."

Speaking softly to Raelee, Chandrellia asks, "What is your thought on all this?"

Leafiara says, "They're very crafty."

Leafiara says, "She's the one who's been chatting it up with the town guards, I believe."

Leafiara says, "So they're surrounding themselves with protectors with their innocent airs."

Speaking to Chandrellia, Raelee says, "I have no remarks at this time."

Speaking surreptitiously to Raelee, Leafiara asks, "Oh, by the way, that *is* what they said when they attacked the outpost, right? They want the whole region?"

Speaking softly to Raelee, Chandrellia says, "Well we could use ideas from everyone, thats what we are about, getting the views of all so we can try ot piece everything together."

Speaking to Leafiara, Raelee says, "That is correct."

Chandrellia frustratedly says, "But I'm sure you have your reasons."

Kippe quietly announces, "Pardon me."

Speaking gently to Chandrellia, Leafiara says, "Hey, it's all speculation at this point anyway to some extent."

Chandrellia frustratedly says, "I know, I guess that is what is frustrating the most."

Speaking to Leafiara, Raelee says, "And Amos is also attempting to take advantage of the young Lady Larsya and her political inexperience."

Leafiara says, "Like following strands of a spiderweb... start with a core hypothesis, then figure out what would entail or follow from that--"

Speaking to Raelee, Leafiara says, "Undoubtedly."

Leafiara says, "And Breshon's been mysteriously gone for months."

Leafiara says, "His father, for years. It's like Larsya's been abandoned out here."

Chandrellia softly says, "Well I am in need of spells, as it seems the streets have been a bit busy lately, I want to keep my defences up."

Leafiara says, "Thankfully she's a genius prodigy for her age."

Leafiara says, "Bonding with a wolf at that age... crazy."

Chandrellia softly says, "Be well friends."

Leafiara says, "Still... she's only twelve."

Faerinn asks, "The part I don't get is why is Amos helping us retrieve Thrayzar. How does he profit?"

Leafiara says, "I think he's trying to curry favor with the captains, to be honest."

Leafiara says, "Whether it's working, I doubt it."

Faerinn says, "Unless the Jantalaran whose nose we are likely to go bloody is a business rival."

Leafiara says, "Could be, yeah... might be too simple an explanation, though."

Leafiara says, "Every move he makes seems very calculated."

Leafiara says, "Almost every sentence he speaks, too."

Faerinn says, "Not completely. He didn't think Khylon saw his killer."

Faerinn says, "Or didn't expect it."

Leafiara says, "He didn't react that much even when he learned, but--well, he owns a gambling ship now, so he has to be good at keeping a straight face."

Leafiara says, "That notion of Alendrial agreeing to Amos' transport is going to keep me up all night, I just know it."

Faerinn says, "That connection is strange for it to just come out of the blue."

Faerinn says, "Well, I'm going to get some spells and head home. I think there's more to learn on this Jantalar trip."

Leafiara says, "I agree."

Leafiara says, "Will think about it more too."
