Last evening, Mayor Walkar informed the townsfolk gathered in his office of his most recent plan to deal with the Rooks. The Nalfein mercenary, Zyndur -- who had assisted previously during the Krolvin invasion -- arrived on the scene, and a deal was bartered between the two parties; in exchange for his mercenary group's assistance in battling the Rooks, Walkar offered Zyndur the remaining essence of the Star of Khar'ta, which had been used prior to create the black talismans that warned of the Star's presence.

[Moot Hall, Mayor's Office]
At the varnished modwir door, a red bear skin rug stretches across the polished hardwood floors while twin velnalin hide chairs face the Mayor's pine desk. A great stag's head is mounted above a cobblestone fireplace set into the western wall. Several tumblers of liquor and shot glasses rest atop an oak bar beside a tall arched window. A blue-streaked river trout is mounted above an open closet, its mouth still wedged open by a fish hook.
Also here: Mylenna, Arnylon, Puptilian, Sarvia who is sitting, Mayor Walkar who is sitting

Speaking to Zyndur, Arpelli says, "Pardon me... I decided I wasn't thirsty."
Arpelli curtsies.
Oritori asks, "Assassin?"

Malisai says, "I still owe you."

Walkar asks, "So, have you considered my offer...yet again?"

You glance at Arnylon.

Zyndur nods to you.
Zyndur says, "There is no harm in both sides benefiting from an alliance."

Speaking to Walkar, Arnylon says, "I'm sure you recall what occurred. It wasn't pointed at me, the threat I mean. He failed to obtain the Star so the deal was off."

You fold your hands behind your back, waiting patiently.
You nod in agreement at Zyndur.

Speaking to Mylenna, Arnylon says, "I knew I should have used those quills and blank scrolls to have written some of it down. Terrible memory and all that."
You quietly whisper, "It's not as though we couldn't use the help right now."
Interlocking his fingers above his head, Arnylon stretches slowly, extending his spine in a satisfying stretch.
Arpelli says, "Oh, why bother? Just make it up."
Arpelli waves her hand in a dismissive gesture.

Zyndur says, "I have, yes."
Zyndur nods at Walkar.

Berkana begins chuckling at Arpelli!
You quietly whisper, "My only concern is how the people will perceive such."

Silversoft asks, "Define short?"
Silversoft bats her eyelashes.
Vandaleigh glances between Walkar and Zyndur.
Berkana asks, "Maags Term?"
Speaking politely to Walkar, you inquire, "Might this be where some of the presented funding is going, or is this through other avenues?"
Maags asks, "As long as we need them?"
Mylenna says, "What is the catch, always a catch."
Maags squints at Berkana.
Chamorr nods at Danaandim.
Maags pulls back her shoulders, stretches her neck and rises up on her toes in an attempt to appear more imposing.
Archales inclines his ear, but doesn't hear anything unusual.

Zyndur says, "We will not travel into this Lich King's land though."

You chuckle at Maags.
Puptilian asks, "What will we owe them?"
Berkana grins at Maags.
Maags grins.
Silversoft says, "Aha.."
Berkana gives Maags a lingering kiss on the cheek.
You glance between Zyndur and Walkar.

Walkar says, "Zyndur hasn't been paid a silver."

Speaking to Walkar, Arnylon says, "Careful mayor. Short term in Elven culture may not be quite as short term for human culture."
Sarvia cocks her head at Maags.

Walkar asks, "And likely, he won't ask for one. Right elf?"
Walkar begins chuckling at Arnylon!

Sarvia says, "No he won't ask for silver."
You peer quizzically at Zyndur.
Sarvia gives Maags a friendly hug.
Maags smiles.
Speaking to Walkar, Puptilian asks, "What is the payment then?"
Maags kisses Berkana tenderly on the cheek.
Speaking softly to Zyndur, you inquire, "Aye, what manner of payment... if not silvers?"
Chamorr hugs Maags, who wraps him in a warm embrace.

Zyndur says, "Your archmage, Pherantyr, crafted a number of talisman to help warn your townspeople of the Star of Khar'ta's presence nearby."

Oritori asks, "May I get this straight? We're asking help from Nalfein elves? Has anyone seen them on the battlefield? What assurances do we have that they will be effective?"
Silversoft mutters imnotpayment.
Berkana asks, "Wait... you won't go underground? So that means you'll supplement the town forces?"
Danaandim quietly says, "I recall those."
Speaking to Walkar, Arnylon says, "At least you can be assured it won't be pieces of Krentuk's body as payment."
Maags rubs her halfling pin.
Speaking softly to Berkana, you say, "To more directly deal with the Rooks, not Barnom, I'd wager."
Sarvia says, "They were very effective in helping with the krolvin."
Puptilian says, "You were not here for the krolvin invasion. They are good."
Berkana nods to you.

Zyndur says, "We were very effective."

Sarvia winks at Zyndur.
Ernesta suddenly fades into view.
You grin behind your onyx black shroud, but no one can see it.
Maags gives Chamorr a friendly hug.

Zyndur says, "In fact, without our blades, your krolvin threat would remain today most likely."

Silversoft turns towards Ernesta and renders a sharp salute with her orase runestaff.
You nod in greeting at Chamorr.
Puptilian removes a twisted dull black talisman from in his green elven cloak.
Speaking softly to Walkar, Ernesta says, "Evening."
Speaking to Zyndur, Oritori asks, "How effective?"
Aenalar chuckles.
Puptilian shows Zyndur his dull black talisman.
Chamorr nods to you.
The bloodhound's eyes slowly move as it watches a small bug skitter across the floor.

Zyndur says, "So please, do not insult us."

Sarvia lightly drums her fingers on her leg.
Cyphier takes a drink from his Jantalarian wine.
Berkana frowns.
Sarvia appears to be trying hard not to grin.

Walkar asks, "What of the talisman?"

Maags takes a drink from her tart liqueur.
Chamorr reaches out and touches a droopy-eyed tan bloodhound.
Speaking politely to Zyndur, you suggest, "No insult intended, I'm sure."

Walkar peers quizzically at Zyndur.
Walkar says, "They mean no insult. They are suspicious, and question a lot. I prefer that really."

You brush your fingers lightly against your black leather pants.
Silversoft grins.
You chuckle at Walkar.
Silversoft leans softly against Danaandim.
Maags smiles at Walkar.
Arnylon says, "I've yet to begin insulting anyone. I assure you if that occurs, it will not be couched in subtle phrases."
Arpelli agrees with Railos.
Malisai nods at Kirael.
You quietly whisper, "Well, that's certainly true! We're a questioning lot."
Mylenna rests a gentle hand on Arnylon's arm.
Arnylon snuggles Mylenna, who responds by cradling an arm around him.
Danaandim takes a drink from his warm elven brandy.
A forest wolf's tail wags slowly back and forth!

Zyndur says, "Your mage used some of the Star's essence to create the talismans."
Walkar nods.

Arpelli nods at Railos.
Arpelli chuckles.
Arpelli nods to you.
You gently rub the forest wolf on the top of his head.
Arnylon taps his fingertips against the smooth, dull black crystal within his talisman with a thoughtful expression on his face.

Zyndur says, "I demand no silver, no arms, we'll even pay for our own boarding. Your coffers need it, I am told."

Maags nods at Zyndur.
You ponder the meaning of Zyndur's existence.
Arpelli says, "We're doing what we can to help them, however."
Arpelli points at Maags.
Cyphier glances at Walkar.
Chamorr smiles at Aoife.
Maags says, "All of us are."
You gaze fondly at Maags.
Maags leans softly against Arpelli.
Vandaleigh sighs.

Zyndur says, "I want what is left of the Star's essence that Pherantyr keeps."

Speaking to Zyndur, Oritori asks, "Forgive me for being a bit ignorant. What do you wish in return for this freely offered help?"
Arpelli says, "If you get hungry, I know where you can get some delicious tarts for a very reasonable price."
Mylenna says, "Ahh back to the star."
Arpelli folds her hands.
Sarvia laughs softly, trying to hide her amusement.
Sarvia applauds Zyndur.
Puptilian fidgets.
Maags grins.
Maags dusts off her white linen apron.
Speaking to Zyndur, Sarvia says, "Oh you're good."
Cyphier snickers.
Arnylon nods at Mylenna.
Speaking to herself, Vandaleigh murmurs, "I'm confused."
You rub your chin thoughtfully.
Arpelli looks thoughtfully at Sarvia.

Walkar asks, "You're really in love with that orb, aren't you?"

Speaking to Zyndur, Puptilian says, "Hasn't that already done enough damage to the world. I rather see it dumped back to the sea."
Speaking to Sarvia, Maags says, "Somehow i think yous knew."
Speaking to Maags, Puptilian says, "They really wanted it."

Walkar says, "Like an old marriage, just clinging on."

Vandaleigh rubs Mylenna gently.
Maags nods at Puptilian.
Kipa chuckles.
Mylenna says, "And he said he would be back."
Vandaleigh blinks.

Walkar asks, "It's been destroyed. We all saw it. What good comes of this now?"
Walkar peers quizzically at Zyndur.

You quietly whisper to Vandaleigh, "The mercenary Zyndur wants remnants from the Star, from during the Krolvin invasion, as payment... instead of silver."
Sarvia winks at Maags.
Cyphier says, "You don't get somthing for nothing with Nalfein."
Maags bites her lip.

Zyndur says, "All the more reason my price should be of little value."

You glance between Zyndur and Walkar.
Cyphier takes a drink from his Jantalarian wine.
Vandaleigh whispers, "And this Star is powerful?"
Kiske looks thoughtfully at Zyndur.
Speaking to Vandaleigh, Arnylon says, "Zyndur used his band of assassi... Er, mercenaries, to help defeat Krentuk, who was invading the landing after obtaining a powerful artifct, the Star of Khar'ta. Zyndur asked in return tht he be given the star once it was taken from Krentuk. The Star instead was destroyed when Krentuk was defeated. Now Zyndur offers, 'aid' in return for the essence of the star contained in the talisman's that were attuned to the location of the Star."
You quietly whisper to Vandaleigh, "It was, once... it was mostly destroyed, I believe."
Mylenna says, "This smells of a nasty plan in the making."
You quietly sniff at yourself. You think you smell okay, but then, doesn't everybody?

Zyndur peers quizzically at Mylenna.

Cyphier leans leisurely on his black ash cane, a thoughtful expression upon his face.
Speaking to Zyndur, Mylenna says, "You are obsessed with the star, and it is not to just have it you want it for something."
You shrug your shoulders, lifting your wings slightly.

Zyndur says, "In fact, I would consider both of your debts paid in full."
Zyndur nods at Walkar.

Vandaleigh gawks at Arnylon.
Oritori asks, "What debts?"
Kipa asks, "Both?"
Sarvia gently pets the bloodhound's head, making the dog's big eyes stare up at her and slowly wag its tail across the floor.

Zyndur smiles at Mylenna.

Ernesta softly asks, "What debts?"
Cyphier raises an eyebrow.

Zyndur says, "Then, and now."
Zyndur nods at Kipa.

Mylenna grins at Zyndur.
Maags says, "This and the last time they helped."
Sarvia says, "The debt owed for helping with the krolvin."
Kipa says, "Ah."
You nod firmly.
Speaking heartily to a droopy-eyed tan bloodhound, Chamorr says, "I agree."
Arnylon says, "That is no debt, it was done for purely selfish reason for personal gain. The scheme failed."

Walkar says, "I had not expected that request."
Walkar nods at Zyndur.

Puptilian nods at Sarvia.
Puptilian nods at Maags.
Puptilian fidgets.
Vandaleigh asks, "Wouldn't those amulets be able to be combined and. . .sort of. . .um. . .reform the power of the Star?"
Sarvia clasps Kiske's hand tenderly.
Berkana takes a drink from her amber iced tea.

Walkar stands up.
Walkar says, "I will speak to the mage. You understand."
Zyndur nods at Walkar.
Zyndur says, "I will wait."
Zyndur says, "With your fine citizens."

Speaking softly to Vandaleigh, you ponder, "Seems doubtful that it would ever hold the power it once did."

Mayor Walkar just went through a varnished modwir door.

Sarvia begins chuckling at Zyndur!
Arpelli chuckles.
Cyphier chuckles.
Speaking to Zyndur, Sarvia says, "Flattery."
You grin behind your onyx black shroud, but no one can see it.
Cyphier pours himself a flute of Jantalarian wine.
Speaking to Vandaleigh, Arnylon says, "Quite possibly although probably the creator of the talismans would know for sure."
Aenalar says, "Still, even a fragment of that power."

Zyndur leans against a varnished modwir door.

Maags grins.
Speaking to Sarvia, Arpelli says, "I'm fine."
Arpelli runs a hand through her chin-length cinnamon-hued hair, trying to make herself presentable.
Oritori stands up.
Speaking to Zyndur, Puptilian says, "So you think you have a way to hurt the giantman?"
Sarvia smiles at Arpelli.
Oritori retrieves his meditation mat from the floor and carefully rolls it up.
Cyphier says, "My wine Fine."
Speaking to Sarvia, Berkana says, "Not sure that was sincere."

Zyndur says, "I never said that."

Arpelli pulls on Railos, trying to get him closer.
Railos leans on Arpelli, giving her a companionable grin.
Maags agrees with Kiske.
Speaking to Berkana, Sarvia says, "Hard to tell."
Speaking wryly to Zyndur, you jest, "Want to offer some services while you wait?"
Speaking to Zyndur, Oritori asks, "May I ask you another question after this?"
Berkana grins at Sarvia.
You rock back on your heels.

Zyndur says, "My men will help patrol your streets, protect your merchants."

Berkana pours herself a mug of honey Mestanir mead.
Puptilian pours himself a flute of Jantalarian wine.
Speaking to Zyndur, Silversoft asks, "Protect the empaths?"
Puptilian offers Zyndur a flute of Jantalarian wine.

Zyndur says, "And perhaps remind these Rooks that children and hungry men do not dominate the shadows."
Zyndur says, "We do."

Speaking softly to yourself, you mutter, "Little joke, there... nevermind."
Puptilian says, "Might as well have a drink while you wait."
Arpelli looks thoughtfully at Railos.
Arnylon ponders.
Sarvia looks at Zyndur and hums.
You nod slowly at Zyndur.

Zyndur says, "I am fine, thank you."
Zyndur nods at Puptilian.

Silversoft nods at Zyndur.
Maags frowns.
Vandaleigh exclaims, "I'm not long out of the monastary. . .what did I walk into when I left it?!"
Puptilian nods slowly.
Railos looks over at Arpelli and shakes his head.
Arpelli says, "Pardon me... I'll return momentarily."
Sarvia nods at Arpelli.
Railos nods at Arpelli.
Speaking softly to Silversoft, you ask, "You mean the Rook archers that were firing upon Empaths in town square previously, for helping the wounded?"
Oritori peers quizzically at Zyndur.
Arpelli nods at Railos.
Speaking to Zyndur, Puptilian says, "I may not have agreed to the deal, but you and yours was impressive against the Krolvin."
Arpelli gently takes hold of Railos's hand.

Zyndur peers quizzically at Oritori.

Silversoft nods to you.
Speaking to Railos, Arpelli asks, "Ready?"
Danaandim agrees with Silversoft.
Railos nods at Arpelli.
Puptilian takes a drink from his Jantalarian wine.

Zyndur bows to Puptilian.

Arpelli nods.
Arpelli turns around.
Maags slowly empties her lungs.
Speaking tiredly to Silversoft, you say, "Yeah, that was a nasty bit of business."
Speaking heartily to Zyndur, Chamorr says, "Whatchya want the stuff for."

Zyndur says, "Many in this world find common enemies, the krolvin are one."

Vandaleigh bites her lip.
Oritori asks, "For what purpose do you wish to obtain the essence of the Star contained within the talismans?"
Oritori peers quizzically at Zyndur.
Mylenna says, "What I want to know."
Aenalar chuckles.
Speaking to you, Silversoft says, "I always thought a good way to win a .. war..is to injure the empaths and clerics."
You whisper, "I admit, it doesn't seem to be without a potential catch. But honestly, it may be our best shot right now."
Puptilian nods at Sarvia.
Silversoft nods at Danaandim.
Kirael nods at Berkana.
Silversoft gazes fondly at Danaandim.
You think to yourself, "She speaks the truth, war does make strange bedfellows."
Speaking to Zyndur, Puptilian says, "Sometimes times of great need finds interesting allies."

Zyndur says, "There is no harm in such common goals having further benefits."

Speaking hesitantly to herself, Vandaleigh asks, "Are your fighting skills good enough Vandy? Will you be able to help here?"
Sarvia gently pets the bloodhound's head, making the dog's big eyes stare up at her and slowly wag its tail across the floor.
A forest wolf's tail wags slowly back and forth!
You lean on Vandaleigh.
Sarvia says, "We're keeping Winston up."
Sarvia says, "Poor fellow."
Speaking to Zyndur, Puptilian asks, "Since you know the shadows, do you have any idea how to break through the spells the Rooks use to hide themselves in the shadows?"
You rub Vandaleigh.
Sarvia glances at a droopy-eyed tan bloodhound and grins.
Maags kneels down in front of the hound and presses her face against its, gently placing a kiss between its big brown eyes.
Kiske tickles the bloodhound's side and it rolls over, kicking back with one foot.
Danaandim nods at Silversoft.
Speaking to Puptilian, Vandaleigh asks, "Did you say The Rooks?"
Speaking to Sarvia, Puptilian says, "Yes but he enjoys all the attention too. he just knows how to play you."
Puptilian nods at Vandaleigh.
Speaking to Puptilian, Sarvia says, "Doesn't mean I mind being played."
Sarvia winks at a droopy-eyed tan bloodhound.
Puptilian grins at Sarvia.
You glance apprehensively around the room.
Puptilian winks at a droopy-eyed tan bloodhound.

Zyndur grins at Oritori.
Zyndur says, "I do not need the talismans."

Speaking to Puptilian, Vandaleigh exclaims, "I was in the catacombs hunting a few days ago and I saw a sign written in blood down there that was signed by them!"
You wryly remark, "Speaking of the Rooks, I'm rather surprised they haven't made an appearance yet."
Puptilian nods at Vandaleigh.

Zyndur says, "I could have collected many of those."

Maags rubs her woven strands.
You nod gravely at Vandaleigh.
Sarvia says, "Oh I'm not."
Speaking to Vandaleigh, Puptilian says, "If you want at a better time we'll explain who they are."
Speaking to Zyndur, Oritori says, "Ahh so it's settled then. You will help out of the goodness of your heart without obtaining the talismans. Excellent."
Speaking softly to Zyndur, Ernesta asks, "What is it you do need then?"

Zyndur says, "The archmage had a source, something from the Star to make such trinkets."

Sarvia says, "If Drangell fears anyone, I think he'd fear Zyndur."
Speaking to you, Berkana says, "We have all their masks."
Berkana removes a smooth black witchwood mask from in her grey velvet cloak.
Berkana waves a smooth black witchwood mask around.
Berkana put a smooth black witchwood mask in her grey velvet cloak.
You laugh softly, trying to hide your amusement.

Zyndur peers quizzically at Puptilian.

You nod at Berkana.
Speaking to Sarvia, Puptilian says, "Afraid of what he doesn't know."
Firmly planting her feet equidistance apart, Maags folds her arms and lifts her head in a defiant manner.
Berkana appears to be trying hard not to grin.
Speaking to Puptilian, Sarvia says, "Afraid of what he does know."
You reach out and run your fingers across the choker, and darkness streams across its surface...
Speaking to Zyndur, Puptilian asks, "Yes?"

Zyndur says, "I am afraid I do not yet know everything of these Rooks."

Speaking to Zyndur, Puptilian asks, "What do you know?"
Puptilian takes a drink from his Jantalarian wine.
Aoife leans softly against Chamorr.
Puptilian takes a drink from his Jantalarian wine.
Puptilian looks rather relaxed.

Zyndur asks, "They use magic items mostly to conceal themselves, yes?"

Speaking to Zyndur, Sarvia asks, "Better yet what are you willing to share?"
Puptilian nods.
Archales nods at Zyndur.
Archales says, "Rings."
Archales slides a smoky shadowglass ring off his finger.
Archales offers Zyndur a smoky shadowglass ring.

Zyndur says, "I am willing to share when I learn."

Oritori says, "Forgive me all. It is time for additional meditation and connections with those I discuss current events that occur with around town. Have a great evening."
Puptilian removes a smoky shadowglass ring from in his green elven cloak.

Zyndur accepts Archales's shadowglass ring.
Zyndur tilts his shadowglass ring side to side, making the light play off it.
Zyndur says, "Interesting, shadowglass."

Speaking to Zyndur, Oritori says, "It was most enlightening."
You turn to face Oritori.
You give a quick nod and tip your hat.
Oritori bows to Zyndur.
Oritori waves.

Zyndur says, "Not cheap."

Oritori just went through a varnished modwir door.
Puptilian just opened a forest green elven cloak with a fine silver leaf-shaped clasp.
You peer quizzically at Zyndur.
Archales agrees with Zyndur.
Puptilian put a smoky shadowglass ring in his green elven cloak.
Puptilian removes a smooth black witchwood mask from in his green elven cloak.
Puptilian offers Zyndur a smooth black witchwood mask.

Zyndur accepts Puptilian's black witchwood mask.

Archales says, "Must have worked out a deal with a sorcerer."
Puptilian says, "They use these mask to hide their appearance."

Zyndur offers Archales a smoky shadowglass ring.

Archales says, "You can keep that one."
Puptilian says, "They look like birds but are only humans and elves that we have seen so far."
Archales says, "For study."

Zyndur nods at Archales.
Zyndur tilts his black witchwood mask side to side, making the light play off it.

Sarvia says, "They die like normal men."
Puptilian adopts an agreeable expression.

Zyndur says, "Good to know."

You nod in agreement.
Sarvia says, "Drangell however."
Sarvia says, "Doesn't."

Zyndur put a smooth black witchwood mask in his dark leather cloak.
Zyndur put a smoky shadowglass ring in his dark leather cloak.
Zyndur says, "We will no doubt come into conflict with these Rooks, as we move to retake the streets and shops."
Zyndur says, "I will learn more of this enemy, and of course, your mayor and you will in turn."

Speaking curiously to Sarvia, you ask, "Why is that, exactly?"
Puptilian says, "They also seem to be stealing from Solhaven and Icemule."
The bloodhound's eyes slowly move as it watches a small bug skitter across the floor.
Puptilian says, "They may have outpost there but none we know of yet."
Speaking curiously to Sarvia, you add, "I thought that he lost the powers of regeneration when the curse was lifted."
Kiske gently pets the bloodhound's head, making the dog's big eyes stare up at her and slowly wag its tail across the floor.
Speaking to you, Sarvia says, "Everblood. He may no longer be a troll but the Everblood is part of him."
You wrinkle your nose.
Speaking to Puptilian, Arnylon says, "Greed basically forces them once the coffers are emptied here to seek other wealth."
Vandaleigh begins chuckling at Drektor!
Speaking deeply to Sarvia, you reply, "Oh."

Zyndur asks, "Everblood?"

Speaking to you, Sarvia says, "It's not part of being a troll, it's something else entirely."
Speaking to Zyndur, Sarvia says, "Drangell's gift if you will."
You raise an eyebrow, your dark dreamstone ring only enhancing your skeptical look.
Arnylon says, "Or the witch's curse that hit him."
Arpelli leans against a pine desk.
Arpelli takes a drink from her honey Mestanir mead.
Speaking to Zyndur, Puptilian says, "He also has a little gnome running around doing Drangell's wetwork."

Zyndur asks, "This troll man, what gift?"

Silversoft leans softly against Danaandim.
You chuckle at Puptilian.
Drektor pours himself a wide glass of cold water.
Drektor takes a drink from his cold water.
Danaandim takes a drink from his warm elven brandy.
Kipa says, "He won't stay dead."
Speaking amusedly to Puptilian, you say, "It's possible he's watching right now."
Speaking to Zyndur, Sarvia says, "While no longer a troll he retains part of his curse or gift that allows him to heal everywound and escape death."
Vandaleigh pours herself a glass of amber iced tea.
Arpelli agrees with you.
Vandaleigh takes a drink from her amber iced tea.

Zyndur says, "Ah."
Zyndur nods.

You whistle tunelessly to yourself, remembering days past.
You gaze in wonder at your surroundings.
Speaking to Zyndur, Sarvia says, "His blood is ..shall we say special."

Zyndur quietly says, "Interesting."

Speaking softly to Zyndur, you remark, "It's an odd lot we face."

Zyndur says, "Yes, this town..."

Speaking to you, Puptilian says, "They have spies all over that will tell him of this meeting anyway."

Zyndur shakes his head.
Zyndur asks, "Have you considered moving?"
Zyndur smirks.

Maags agrees with Puptilian.
Berkana chuckles.
Chamorr laughs!
Speaking to Zyndur, Sarvia asks, "Think it would matter?"
Maags glances at you.
Silversoft nods at Danaandim.

Zyndur shakes his head.

Maags says, "Obviouslies."
Sarvia says, "No neither did I."

Mayor Walkar just came through a varnished modwir door.

Puptilian says, "Our town and no one will make us move."
Speaking to Zyndur, Arnylon says, "Have you ever tried getting a giantman to move anywhere? I'd be dead of old age before my feet left the gates."
Speaking curiously to yourself, you ponder, "An undead Lich King... a group of shadow bandits led by a troll-blooded madman."
Aoife glances at Walkar.
Puptilian raises an eyebrow in Walkar's direction.
Kiske sighs.

Zyndur smiles at Walkar.
Zyndur asks, "I trust your archmage is not too upset?"
Walkar says, "Oh, he is."
Walkar says, "But Pherantyr is not mayor, I am."
Zyndur nods.

Drektor takes a drink from his cold water.
Maags grins at Walkar.
Kipa grins.

Walkar removes a glowing green vial suspended by a thin black metal chain from in his grey leather cloak.

Arnylon begins chuckling at Walkar!
You rock back on your heels.
Speaking heartily to you, Chamorr says, "Just another day in da Landing."

Zyndur flashes a wide grin.

You chuckle at Chamorr.
You lean on Chamorr, giving him a companionable grin.
Arpelli looks thoughtfully at Walkar.
Mylenna says, "This will come back to haunt this town."
You ponder the meaning of Arpelli's existence.
Speaking quietly to Chamorr, Danaandim says, "Lurching from crisis to crisis."
Archales agrees with Mylenna.
Aoife agrees with Danaandim.
You quietly whisper to Arpelli, "I'm glad to see you in good spirits again, and more like your former self."
Speaking to Mylenna, Arnylon says, "I may know a priest well versed in dealing with hauntings."
Chamorr nods at Danaandim.
Mylenna grins at Arnylon.
Speaking to herself, Arpelli says, "I sense this isn't a good idea..."
Speaking to Danaandim, Kiske says, "No better way to travel."
Archales says, "Right now I just want to make it to that day."
Maags scrubs her hand through her very long golden brown hair in frustration.
Kiske flashes a wide grin.
The bloodhound slowly stands up and meanders about the office for a moment, sniffing around the mayor's desk before plopping back down by the fireplace.
Ernesta peers quizzically at Walkar.
Speaking cheerfully to Arpelli, you remark, "Over-thinking things never led to any interesting developments."
You chuckle.
Speaking to Archales, Arnylon says, "If you should fall before then, I may know a pries..."
Speaking to herself, Berkana says, "Another circuitous conversation..."
Aenalar starts chuckling at you!
Archales begins chuckling at Arnylon!
Ernesta appears less secure.
Aenalar says, "True."
Sarvia slowly empties her lungs.
You rock back on your heels.
Sarvia gently pets the bloodhound's head, making the dog's big eyes stare up at her and slowly wag its tail across the floor.
Aoife begins chuckling at Berkana!
Sarvia agrees with Berkana.
You quietly whisper to Arpelli, "Don't lose hope. You've done a good deal more than you know, trust me."
You lean on Arpelli, giving her a companionable grin, and notice the scent of vanilla around her.

Walkar moves to stand in front of Zyndur.
Walkar offers Zyndur a glowing green vial suspended by a thin black metal chain.

Berkana says, "We've really managed to elevate the art of circling around things."
Aenalar says, "If it solves the immediate problem, in lieu of a possible future problem, that seems a fair trade."
(Berkana rubs at her temples.)

Zyndur accepts Walkar's green vial.

Speaking to Berkana, Aoife says, "In some circles all conversations appear circuitous."
Speaking to himself, Puptilian says, "The die is cast...."
Speaking to Berkana, Sarvia says, "We've perfected it."
Sarvia winks at Berkana.
Arpelli smiles at you.
Aoife nods at Berkana.
You enthusiastically nod your agreement, causing your hair to flutter around your face in a long halo.
You grab a ruby-flecked ebon orb from one of the small containers hanging from your leather bandolier.

Zyndur bows.

You peer deeply into your ebon orb, all concentration completely focused upon it. Your fingers caress the orb, their path tracing a rune along its surface. Your gaze never falters as you continue the familiar ritual. Suddenly, the sphere comes to life, a swirl of orange fog filling its interior.

Arpelli winces.
Arpelli slowly empties her lungs.
Maags bites her lip.
Danaandim quietly says, "Somehow I expected some dramatic music."
Arpelli steeples her fingers together, quietly observing her surroundings.

Zyndur places the green vial around his neck.

You chuckle at Danaandim.
You drift off into a trance, the smooth surface of the ebon orb mesmerizing you. Your eyes cloud over, but your hands never leave the arcane sphere. The orb warms to your touch, and the mist within begins to form a vague shape. It's murky and distorted, but it looks to be a dead crow. It lingers for a moment, then is gone.

Chamorr heartily says, "Dun dun duhhh."
You give a short little hum of surprise.
Speaking to Danaandim, Aenalar asks, "You don't hear it?"

The mist within the ebon orb begins to thin and fade. Fearful of losing your connection, you chant an incantation. The magic courses out from your hand and seeps into the orb. The spell leaves you weak and fatigued, but the sphere responds to your needs. The mist takes life within, the shape of a cracked stone clearly visible. It maintains its form for a moment, then is nothing more than a wisp of smoke.

Zyndur says, "You really have nothing to fear."
Zyndur nods at Danaandim.

Danaandim agrees with Chamorr.
Vandaleigh sighs heavily.
Sarvia says, "Except the dawn."
Speaking to Zyndur, Mylenna says, "Not at the moment, not till your plan is complete."
Sarvia chuckles to herself.
Arpelli nods slowly at Sarvia.
You cheerfully comment, "Dead crow. Close enough, right? Huh."
Arnylon says, "My faith sustains me. Fear does not enter into it."

With the last of your remaining strength, you move closer to the ebon orb cradled in your hand and shift it slightly. Once again, the smoke begins to writhe and twist within the sphere. It seems to resist your efforts, but finally, the image of a carriage appears. The vision lasts but a heartbeat, then the orb clears. Whatever was within has left.

Aenalar says, "We've heard that one before."
Drektor takes a drink from his cold water.
Speaking to Zyndur, Puptilian says, "Well you have some of there things. The first help I think we can use is a way to see past their spells that keep them hidden."
You reverently state, "Orange mist, a dead crow, cracked stone, and a carriage."
Berkana takes a drink from her honey Mestanir mead.
You rub your chin thoughtfully.
Archales agrees with Puptilian.
You tuck the ebon orb into one of the small containers hanging from your leather bandolier.

Zyndur asks, "My plan?"

You quietly whisper to Berkana, "That seems promising!"
Puptilian raises an eyebrow in Zyndur's direction.
Speaking to Arnylon, Mylenna says, "Why do I have a feeling the star wasn't destroyed, and this will help locate it."

Zyndur says, "I mean no offense, but unlike the rash of other enemies you have, I am not your enemy."
Zyndur says, "Nor do I seek to burn or torment your people."

You whisper, "Cracked stone... could be a sign of a monolith of sorts, such as the one giving Barnom his power."
Speaking to Mylenna, Arnylon says, "Have faith."
Arnylon chuckles.
You chuckle to yourself.
Puptilian looks over at you and shakes his head.
Speaking amusedly to Zyndur, you say, "That's.... much appreciated."
Speaking to Mylenna, Aenalar says, "But carry a big stick."
You think to yourself, "Eh, it's the nature of prophecy to be vague and inscrutable."

Walkar asks, "Our deal is done. We can expect them in days?"
Walkar peers quizzically at Zyndur.
Zyndur nods.

Speaking to Zyndur, Puptilian says, "You helped us once and I'm sure you'll help again."
Mylenna grins at Aenalar.
Sarvia says, "I believe Zyndur is not our enemy, I think he has an agenda of his own, helping us helps him."
Puptilian agrees with Sarvia.
Maags nods at Sarvia.
Berkana nods at Sarvia.
Silversoft says, "Thats always the way.."
Zyndur bows.
Speaking heartily to Zyndur, Chamorr says, "Prolly a good thing on your part."

Walkar says, "And he's gone."

The bloodhound's eyes slowly move as it watches a small bug skitter across the floor.
Archales rubs his chin thoughtfully.
Kipa casually observes her surroundings.
Sarvia chuckles to herself.
Kiske bites her lip.
Silversoft says, "Poof."
You offhandedly say, "True, but... one can't really expect something for nothing. Perhaps this will even the odds a little more in the Landing's favor."
Sarvia shrugs.
Sarvia gently pets the bloodhound's head, making the dog's big eyes stare up at her and slowly wag its tail across the floor.
Archales says, "Well too late to second guess now."
Kipa shakes her head.
Maags nods.
Maags turns quickly, her strawberry-hued jacket swirling in her wake.
You quietly add, "We could definitely use it."
Chamorr smiles at Walkar.
Kiske says, "Nothing but good times ahead."
Archales says, "Lets hope they free up enough militia to deal with Barnom."
Speaking to Walkar, Sarvia says, "I like, I can't help it."
Kiske sighs.
Aenalar begins chuckling at Kiske!
Sarvia says, "He's cheeky."
Drektor takes a drink from his cold water.
Speaking to Walkar, Arnylon asks, "Walkar, what was the second part of the debt that seems to have remained quiet?"
You chuckle at Sarvia.
Archales says, "I don't trust him."
Silversoft says, "He's an elf.."
Mylenna says, "I don't think he is, I think he has the one thing that will now help him in some way find what he wants."
You glance at Arnylon.
You peer quizzically at Walkar.
Speaking to Walkar, Puptilian says, "What is done is done. I just hope he can help us to track down these damn Rooks."
Archales says, "Never met a nalfein that wasn't scheming about something."
Silversoft asks, "Isn't Cheeky part of the definition?"
Aoife glances around the room.
Sarvia begins chuckling at Silversoft!

Walkar says, "It was personal."

Aoife glances at Arnylon.
Sarvia says, "Some cheekier than others."
Silversoft winks at Sarvia.
Berkana takes a drink from her honey Mestanir mead.
Speaking amusedly to Archales, you say, "True."
Silversoft nods.
You ponder the meaning of Walkar's existence.
You bite your lip behind your onyx black shroud, but no one can see it.
Ernesta ponders.
You hang your head.
Arnylon says, "Just be careful... I don't trust him as far as I can throw him. Although he is an elf. I could probably throw him across a room."
Silversoft grins at Danaandim.

Walkar begins chuckling at Arnylon!
Walkar says, "I can trust him more than some I've dealt with."

Arpelli ponders.
Berkana chuckles.
Danaandim grins at Silversoft.
You ponder the meaning of life, the universe, and everything.
Arnylon nods at Walkar.

Walkar says, "He has his cost, and it's been met."

Sarvia agrees with Walkar.
Archales nods slowly.

Walkar says, "He won't back down from that, if only for his own reputation."

Drektor takes a drink from his cold water.
Puptilian says, "Best the enemy you know then the one you don't know...."
You settle your gaze on Walkar, watching him intently.
Arnylon says, "Fair enough."
You nod slowly at Puptilian.

Walkar says, "I just hope to never use him again."
Walkar chuckles.
Walkar says, "The cost keeps getting higher."

Speaking to Walkar, Kiske says, "Dreamer."
Sarvia begins chuckling at Walkar!
Sarvia says, "Dreams are all we have left."
Sarvia laughs softly, trying to hide her amusement.
You ponder the meaning of life, the universe, and everything.
Mylenna says, "Yes it does."
Speaking to Sarvia, Kiske says, "So I've heard."
Silversoft nods at Danaandim.
Vandaleigh says, "Mister Mayor, a question. . ."
Mylenna nods.
Archales asks, "Has there been any word from the order of Voln?"
Sarvia tickles the bloodhound's side and it rolls over, kicking back with one foot.
Kiske pours herself a flute of Jantalarian wine.

Walkar nods at Vandaleigh.

Sarvia winks at Kiske.
Kiske frowns at a flute of Jantalarian wine.
Archales asks, "Are they sending more champions?"
Kiske put a flute of Jantalarian wine in the Kiske disk.
Speaking to Walkar, Arnylon says, "If it gets too high, I know people who know people who know people who can make people disappear. Not that I'D ever associate with them, of course."
Vandaleigh asks, "There are those of us, like myself, who are not all that well trained yet. What can we do to help?"
You think to yourself, "I wonder what "personal cost" Walkar speaks of? Does it pertain to his armor?"

Walkar begins chuckling at Arnylon!
Walkar says, "Not that I know of yet."

Kiske takes a drink from her deep crimson wine.
Speaking gently to Vandaleigh, you say, "Sometimes moral support can be every bit as vital as swords or spells."

Walkar nods at Archales.
Walkar says, "They have offered support in arms if needed..."

Archales nods slowly.
Archales says, "If needed... of course its needed."

Walkar says, "But until we can find the lich's soul phla...ph."
Walkar says, "Whatever."
Walkar says, "It's for nothing."

Sarvia says, "They're good at what they do."
Archales nods.
Kiske stands up.
Kipa grins.
Archales says, "I spose they are saving their forces... let us do the dying."
Chamorr heartily says, "Look."
Speaking to Walkar, Arnylon asks, "Have you searched Drangell's former cell?"
Speaking gently to Vandaleigh, you add, "People lose hope and faith in themselves and their fellow townspeople... you can always try and help keep their spirits from falling too far."

Walkar nods at Arnylon.
Walkar says, "Ruin."

Arnylon nods at Walkar.

Walkar says, "We hope to fill up those holes soon, both in the prison and Moot Hall."
Walkar nods to you.
Walkar nods at Vandaleigh.

Speaking gravely to Walkar, you ask, "That needs to be found, soon. Any word on that?"
Speaking to Mylenna, Arnylon says, "It is time to take you to bed I think."
Arpelli says, "That would be good."

Walkar says, "Remain vigilant."
Walkar says, "Odds seem against us, but they always do."

Speaking to Walkar, Arnylon says, "Pleasure as always."

Aenalar says, "I will, between naps."
Sarvia appears to be trying hard not to grin.
Berkana takes a drink from her honey Mestanir mead.
Archales adopts an agreeable expression.
You chuckle at Aenalar.
The bloodhound gets to its feet and arches forward into a full stretch. It shakes its head vigorously, sending globs of drool flying everywhere.
You nod slowly at Walkar.
Malisai nods at Kirael.
Kirael gives Malisai a warm buss on the lips.
Archales stands up.
Arnylon bows to Archales.
Arnylon bows to you.

Walkar says, "Next week I will announce my list of anti-Rook merchants."
Walkar says, "So, feel free to flood their shops with business."

You bow low, spreading your wings for all to see.
Arpelli glances at a varnished modwir door.
Puptilian adopts an agreeable expression.
Speaking to Walkar, Vandaleigh says, "So long as I have my fists and my feet, Mister Mayor, they don't stand a chance."
Chamorr clasps Aoife's hand tenderly.
Vandaleigh grins.
Archales nods at Walkar.
You nod at Walkar.
Archales shrugs.
Speaking to Walkar, Archales says, "Thank you for keeping us informed."

Walkar nods.

Sarvia chuckles to herself.
Kipa bows deeply at the waist, honoring Walkar.
Sarvia says, "Thank you."
You nod in agreement at Archales.
Aenalar stands up.
You turn to Walkar and bow low, spreading your wings for all to see.
Aenalar nods at Walkar.
Aenalar says, "Hope this works."
Speaking heartily to you, Chamorr says, "You, however, have looked better."
You chuckle at Chamorr.
You think to yourself, "Fair enough."
Speaking softly to Walkar, Ernesta says, "I tried the candles."

Walkar asks, "Oh?"

You quietly whisper to Sarvia, "Walkar doesn't seem to want to rip my wings off any more. That's something."
Berkana takes a drink from her honey Mestanir mead.
Drektor leans back a bit and folds his arms behind his head.
Speaking softly to Walkar, Ernesta says, "People kept putting them out."
Sarvia whispers, "It is."
Speaking amusedly to Chamorr, you say, "That's true."
Drektor shifts his weight.
You scrub your hand through your long raven-black hair in frustration.
You rock back on your heels.
Speaking softly to Walkar, Ernesta says, "They did seem to work pretty well when left."
Puptilian sighs.
Puptilian fidgets.
Speaking heartily to Walkar, Chamorr says, "Any word on that box."

Walkar says, "None."
Walkar says, "He probably quit for the night."
Walkar says, "Since I forced him to hand over that vial."

You quietly whisper, "I'll take whatever I can get, heh. It's not as though I blame him for not trusting me, even if I did risk my neck --- and my sister's -- to warn them about Drangell."
You sigh.
Speaking to Walkar, Vandaleigh says, "Thank you for allowing me to be here at this meeting Mister Mayor."
Arpelli asks, "What box?"
Vandaleigh bows to Walkar.

Walkar bows to Vandaleigh.

Oritori says, "I had business in the prison. My apologies all."
You quietly whisper, "Not that it did a lot of good...."
You hang your head.
Speaking to Arpelli, Puptilian says, "A special place for Drangell."
You ponder the meaning of Vandaleigh's existence.
You hug Vandaleigh.

Walkar says, "Pherantyr is working on some...prisons...for Drangell."

Someone whispers, "Walkar's not a forgiving man, he has his own doom to face."
Someone whispers, "Good men fall hard."
Vandaleigh smiles at you.
Kiske folds her arms over her chest.
Kiske takes a drink from her deep crimson wine.
Oritori asks, "This one a bit harder to escape I hope?"
Arpelli says, "I see."
Sarvia winks at Arpelli.
You quietly whisper, "True. I don't envy his fate, and I wish him courage on his road."
You ponder the meaning of Walkar's existence.
You bow to Vandaleigh.
Vandaleigh bows to you.

Walkar nods at Oritori.
Walkar exclaims, "One box a body part!"

Drektor carefully looks himself over.
Oritori says, "Good. He ruined some perfectly good tunnels."
You chuckle at Walkar.
Someone whispers, "Many of us face an unhappy ending. It can makes us hard to others."
Puptilian smirks at Walkar.
Drektor's group just went through a varnished modwir door.
Kiske says, "Ew."
Puptilian affectionately scratches the wolf's neck.
You quietly whisper, "Isn't -that- true?"
You nod in agreement.
Sarvia grins at you.
Speaking to Walkar, Puptilian asks, "Keep his head here on the desk?"
Puptilian grins mischievously.
The bloodhound's eyes close and it begins whistling from its nose as it sleeps. A few moments later it lets out a snort, startling itself and waking up.

Walkar says, "No thank you."
Walkar begins chuckling at Puptilian!

You laugh softly, trying to hide your amusement.
Speaking to Puptilian, Kiske says, "That'd be like constantly havin an in-law around."
Kiske wrinkles her nose.

Walkar just went over and threw himself down on the chair.

Speaking wryly to Puptilian, you state, "That'd weird me right out."
Chamorr laughs at Kiske!
Speaking to Kiske, Puptilian says, "Yes but one you can stab over and over again."
You grimace behind your onyx black shroud, but no one can see it.
Puptilian says, "Best of all worlds..."
Malisai just went through a varnished modwir door.
Speaking to Puptilian, Kiske says, "I don't want to have to stab someone or something over and over again."
Sarvia hums a seemingly random tune.

Walkar removes a flute of Jantalarian wine from in the Kiske disk.
Walkar sniffs at his Jantalarian wine.
Walkar takes a drink from his Jantalarian wine.
Walkar looks rather relaxed.

Sarvia raises an eyebrow in Walkar's direction.
Puptilian glances at Walkar.
Sarvia says, "Wine? unusual for you."
You glance between Sarvia and Walkar.

Walkar says, "I feel unusual today."

Sarvia begins chuckling at Walkar!
Puptilian asks, "Just today?"
Sarvia amusedly says, "Join the club."
Arpelli grins at Sarvia.

Walkar says, "Perhaps those Nalfein can free up some of my time, all of our time."
Walkar says, "To focus back on Barnom."

Speaking softly to Walkar, Ernesta asks, "How are you holding up under the armor?"
Speaking softly to Walkar, you venture, "How so? Pleasantness at a potential solution?"

Walkar says, "I've still got my good looks."
Walkar nods at Ernesta.
Walkar nods to you.

Ernesta smiles at Walkar.
You chuckle to yourself.
Speaking wryly to Walkar, you say, "Well, at least -you- do."
Oritori says, "If I had that breastplate flickering like that I'd feel weird too."

Walkar grins at Oritori.

Chamorr laughs at Walkar!
Speaking to Walkar, Puptilian says, "First the giantman. A few of us want to pay him back a bit..."
Kiske glances at Puptilian.
You idly scratch your nose.

Walkar says, "The nalfein will show them who are better rogues."
Walkar nods.

Speaking to Walkar, Kiske says, "Will you place the Nalfein in the shops? They do tend to have a bit more finesse that the regular militia."
Arpelli says, "Let's hope."
Speaking wryly to Puptilian, you say, "I'm sure a good deal of revenue could be made if one were to charge for that. Drangell doesn't seem to have as many friends as he thinks."

Walkar nods at Kiske.
Walkar says, "Yes."

Arpelli asks, "Need some of these?"
Arpelli removes a smoky shadowglass ring from in her black velvet pelisse.
Arpelli waves a smoky shadowglass ring around.
You smile behind your onyx black shroud, but no one can see it.

Walkar says, "Now we need to discover Drangell's income source."

Arpelli put a smoky shadowglass ring in her black velvet pelisse.
Puptilian says, "Ambush the rooks would be very nice. Cut off their money locally at least."

Walkar says, "Well, find something more concrete."

Arpelli says, "Jankus' merchanting."
Ernesta softly asks, "Any leads on who it is?"
Arpelli chuckles.

Walkar says, "Many of us have thoughts, mostly leading to Elithain Cross."

You hesitantly venture, "I think a few sources lead to one particular name."
Arpelli nods.
You nod slowly.
Kiske takes a drink from her deep crimson wine.
Arpelli asks, "I did hear someone say that he mentioned a benefactor, yes?"
You elbow Arpelli in the ribs in a playful sort of way.

Walkar nods.

Sarvia says, "Some of us have thoughts going beyond him."
Kiske bites her lip.

Walkar says, "But perhaps we'll find him sooner than we think."
Walkar says, "Or someone will."

Kiske paces back and forth.
Puptilian agrees with Sarvia.
Sarvia says, "He'll find us."
Speaking softly to Sarvia, you comment, "Perhaps, but one thing at a time... hmmm."

Walkar says, "We're not hiding."
Walkar chuckles.

Speaking to you, Sarvia says, "To face one is to face the other."
The bloodhound's eyes slowly move as it watches a small bug skitter across the floor.
Oritori asks, "Two faced?"
A forest wolf growls menacingly!
Speaking to Walkar, Sarvia says, "Wouldn't do us any good if we did."
Speaking wryly to Walkar, you quip, "We're rather hard to miss these days, what with the fires and rotting streets."
You nod slowly at Sarvia.
Speaking to you, Arpelli says, "And rotting faces... don't forget those."

Walkar stands up.
Walkar says, "Good evening everyone."
Walkar says, "Thank you for coming."

Arpelli hums a happy tune, skillfully expressing her friendly mood.
Kiske waves to Walkar.
You turn to Walkar and bow low, spreading your wings for all to see.
Puptilian says, "Good night Mayor."
Arpelli curtsies to Walkar.
Oritori says, "Goodnight. Sleep time for me."
Ernesta softly says, "Night Walkar."

Walkar says, "And thank you, for the list."
Walkar nods at Arpelli.

Oritori waves.
Sarvia nods at Walkar.
Oritori yawns.
Speaking to Walkar, Kiske says, "Thank you for your time."
Speaking heartily to Walkar, Chamorr says, "See ya Mayor."
Speaking softly to Walkar, you say, "Thank you for seeking a potential solution."
Oritori says, "Thank you for the meeting."

Walkar says, "Perhaps I'll eat their faces, right? Make those rumors right."
Walkar chuckles.

Oritori just went through a varnished modwir door.
Speaking to Walkar, Arpelli says, "Thank you for the continued support."
Sarvia says, "Yes thank you for your time."
Puptilian says, "Don't sleep too deeply yet. The help isn't here yet."
You ponder the meaning of Walkar's existence.

Walkar says, "I'm kidding..."
Walkar winks.

Chamorr heartily says, "I'd like to see that."

Walkar chuckles.
Walkar waves.

You think to yourself, "I would hope not, Walkar... these may be dark times, but I'm going to choose to have more faith in you than that."
You grin behind your onyx black shroud, but no one can see it.
You think to yourself, "...whether it's true... or not."

Mayor Walkar just went through a varnished modwir door.
