Bloodjewels appear, as the name implies, similar to blood. They are named after the empress, Selantha Anodheles, as after the assassination of Jestril, she suceeded him. The assassin who killed Jestril was found with these gems, referred to as Southron garnets, as they were his payment. Selantha gave a speech stating that the garnets were drops of Jestril's blood, and that she would never forget the sacrifice he made. She swore that she would never cast off the bracelet made from these "blood jewels" for as long as she lived.

The bloodjewels are also considered symbols of V'tull, due to his affinity for the sight of blood. Many members of the Turamzzyrian Empire are appalled by this association due to the relevance it has with Selantha and the history of the Empire. Bloodjewels are magically affiliated with the element of earth.[1]

a Selanthan bloodjewel

Description:   A teardrop-shaped stone, a selanthan bloodjewel is translucent red on the edges, darkening to a nearly black core. The bloodjewel is no more than a half-inch in its longest dimension, and the tip of the teardrop seems to lean over slightly in relation to the rest of the jewel.[2]
