The Church of Koar was the largest organized and most powerful church in the Turamzzyrian Empire.

The Church of Koar, dedicated to the Arkati Koar, held a considerable amount of influence over the Turamzzyrian Empire, due to its addressing of law and rulership. The church was lead by a Patriarch of the Church of Koar, with prelates in charge of areas encompassing at least the size of cities. As the church grew along with the empire, it garnered more and more influence over the political realm of the empire.

By 4721, Empress Lyssandra Anodheles gained the throne in part from the support of Paltrach, the Patriarch of the church at the time. This set a precedent for virtually required church support for future rulers. During the reign of Rallick Anodheles, Koar was made the official patron of the empire, and at the behest of a prelate of Immuron, went to war against the Nalfein elves.

However, the Church of Koar grew too powerful and rivaled the throne in power by 4799. This led to a schism with some clergy declaring the church more powerful than the imperial throne. The emperor at the time, Ommindar Anodheles, backed by another faction of the church, reigned in the Church of Koar by declaring that the head of the church, the patriarch, could only be appointed and dismissed by the ruler of the empire. Essentially, Ommindar had placed the church under the control of the Imperial Throne. Incidentally, any challengers of the throne were forced to gain the support of the clergy away from the reigning monarch, which opened the door to treachery and conspiracy.

The Church of Koar continued as a force of war, when it supported the invasion and attack of the Faendryl elves under the reign of Selanthra Anodheles II. The power of the church was most evident when it successfully backed a claimant to the throne, Trydall Anodheles, against Prentius Anodheles in 4921, then the heir to the throne.

The Church of Koar remained a powerful entity within the empire up through at least 5107.
