Tea is a common Elanthian beverage made by placing herbal leaves in boiling water.

Brewing

Tea shops often sell a variety of packaged tea leaves to allow characters to brew their own tea.

The brewing process requires some equipment:

  • a stove
  • a kettle
  • a wooden log
  • tinder
  • a source of fire to light the stove, such as matches
  • a source of clean water
  • tea leaves
  • cups or other drinking vessels to hold the tea

The Wizard spells Minor Water (903) and Minor Fire (906) work as water/fire sources.

The following items are optional:

  • an infuser
  • tea flavorings

To brew tea:

  1. Place the log and tinder inside the stove.
  2. Place the kettle on the stove.
  3. Pour water into the kettle (or use 903). If pouring from physical vessels, it may take several vessels to fill the kettle.
  4. Either put tea leaves directly into the kettle, or place them in an infuser and put the infuser into the kettle. (This step can also be done later, after the water starts to boil.)
  5. Light the stove with a match (or use 906).
  6. Wait until the water boils and the tea is sufficiently steeped. The fire will go out by itself but the ideal steeping time is usually a while longer so that the tea is not too weak or strong. Look inside the kettle to monitor progress. If using an infuser, removing it will cause the tea to stop steeping.
  7. Pour the prepared tea into drinking vessels, and add flavorings if necessary.
  8. Clean the stove. Excess tea can be cleaned up by turning the kettle.
