Cross Into Shadows - 2015-01-09 - Mission Commence / Finale Part 2 (log)

This is part 1 of the Cross Into Shadows finale as seen through Geijon's perspective. It occured on January 9th, 2015 well into the next morning.

Much of the general combat was cut, but larg, dangerous moments were kept in there entirety.

Summary

Our mission was to locate Elithain Cross beneath Melgorehn's Reach. There is communication and shared viewpoints of both the Shadow Realm and Wehnimer's Landing attacks throughout.

You are in a grassy area which is presently darkened by the shadow of a peculiar mountain jutting from the ground. It is unusual in the fact that no other mountains exist in this area, and you can remember a time when there certainly wasn't one here. You are on the bank of a beautiful mountain lake that is fed by a waterfall gushing from the mountain side. There is a path which seems to actually lead up the side of the mountain. You also see a barely visible trail leading into a grove of ancient trees, a huge imperial wagon with a glowing blue-white pylon on it, a red-veined gnarled black tree, a red-veined gnarled black tree, a red-veined gnarled black tree, a red-veined gnarled black tree, a red-veined gnarled black tree, a red-veined gnarled black tree and some black roots glistening with blood that stretch across the ground leading up to the base of Melogrehn's Reach.

A huge imperial wagon with a bluish-white pylon is rolled into Town Square Central.

Briarleaf [Local]: "Docks are okay for now."

A flash of blue-white light appears from the pylon near Voln!

Roelaren [Local]: "The towers at the gates have herbs in them if folks need them."

A flash of blue-white light appears from the pylon near Melgorehn's Reach!

Ridic begins a steady and decisive chant, as if rallying the troops.

Airships soar into view over Wehnimer's Landing, crimson lightning crackling around them as golems fall from the sky along South Ring Road!

Pylasar says, "Hmm...."

You glance at Pylasar.

Jook [Local]: "Golems, South ring road I think!"

Raelee glances expectantly at Pylasar.

Cryheart [Local]: "South ring road..golems."

Speaking to Pylasar, you say, "Need you focused Pylasar."

Kraytorh [Local]: "Golem on south ring road... pretty nasty."

Pylasar says, "Hmm...."

Nysina says, "I think I'd prefer the blood and gore, honestly."

reganth [The Landing Defense Irregulars]: "We are on the beach a moment more, possible tandem attack, if you can get to them, move."

Pylasar asks, "Isn't there...a bridge!?"

Pylasar gazes in wonder at his surroundings.

Pylasar says, "I...the pocket...is somewhere here..."

Aiska [Local]: "ONE DOWN!"

Glyhne [Local]: "Well done Aiska."

Cryheart [Local]: "Sic those golems."

Bristenn [Local]: "Keep it up, squire."

Pylasar says, "No no..."

Pylasar says, "We need to go DOWN."

Nysina glances at Pylasar.

Pylasar exclaims, "Yes, a stone bridge!"

Pylasar exclaims, "Where it is!"

Rowmi [The Landing Defense Irregulars]: "I lost a leg and more to a golem..."

Cryheart [Local]: "How goes the patrols?"

Speaking to you, Riend informs, "I believe the Magister wishes you to find the bridge."

Rowmi [Local]: "Poorly, Sir. We could use some golem fighters."

A flash of crimson light flares in the distance, somewhere within Lower Dragonsclaw. Walkar's voice cries out, "Tonight....we are not elven, or human, or dwarf! We are not Vornavian, or Hendoran! We are Elanthia!"

Cryheart [Local]: "Will send some support."

Taverkin lets out a cheer!

Maiehia throws her head back and howls!

Phever lets loose with a shout of exultation!

Neovik lets out a cheer!

Hoy stares off into space.

Fupius [Local]: "Golem west of the bank."

Speaking to Pylasar, Raelee asks, "You are seeking a pocket... a way beneath the mountain?"

Speaking to Pylasar, Raelee asks, "A portal? A tunnel?"

Pylasar says, "Hmm..."

Cryheart [Local]: "Sending some support Aiska and Rowmi."

Pylasar says, "No no...a bridge."

Pylasar says, "A stone bridge...."

You ask, "In th' valley?"

Kupaka huskily says, "Throught the path."

[Melgorehn's Reach, Landing]
The cliff trail comes to an abrupt halt at a sheer drop off. It seems the ledge continues onward after about a forty yard gap. Cut into the mountain side, by means that you cannot imagine, is a perfectly round opening which is large enough to enter. You also see a polished bloodwood wand, a mountain path and what appears to be a giant, stone draw bridge which is presently pulled open by two hemp ropes originating from slots in an overhang.

[Melgorehn's Reach, Stone Bridge]
The stone bridge is smoothly cut and has weathered its age well with few cracks. It spans the gap between the east and west ledge easily. Two large, hemp ropes on either side run tautly up to slots in an overhang above.

Pylasar says, "Now....we wait."

You hear a loud crash as a black krolvin carrack smashes into the docks, krolvin leaping from its rigging with weapons raised!

Rowmi [Local]: "Golems seem cleared. Moving to Dock."

Bristenn [Local]: "Krolvin making landfall."

Pylasar says, "Time will take us."


Speaking to Pylasar, Raelee asks, "You are relying on the temporal distortions?"

Pylasar says, "Yes."

Pylasar giggles at Raelee.

Pylasar says, "It is really the only way."

Turinrond glances between Pylasar and Raelee.

Speaking to Pylasar, Raelee says, "... fascinating. I see your point."

Zzentar [Global]: "Single golem got in west gate, seems they are sending scouts to test defenses."

Pylasar says, "Now..."

Pylasar says, "Once we're...way way way down there..."

Pylasar says, "We will need to wait, and give pause, to allow Cross to half accomplish his goal."

Dergoatean [Local]: "Status update - Aralyte has opened her cache of shadowbane weapons, and we are gathered outside moot hall waiting for her word to move on."

You say, "Madelyne isn't something we can solve until she's vulnerable."

Cryheart [Local]: "Krolvin are attacking."

Speaking to Pylasar, Fealoke asks, "Going to the very base of where the mage built this place up from?"

Pylasar says, "Speculation."

Pylasar shrugs at Fealoke.

Pylasar says, "It is less of where we're going..."

Pylasar says, "As to, when we are going."

Pylasar whistles tunelessly to himself.

Rozy shivers.

Kupaka blinks.

Bekke says, "I am very, very interested in that. If we can get there, of course."

Ephya [Local]: "We are watching the north gate."

Raelee looks thoughtfully at Pylasar.

Myasarie quietly asks, "When?"

Pylasar says, "Yes....when."

Pylasar says, "I'm going to warn you all."

Pylasar says, "We'll be quite exposed to the temporal imbalance going on currently."

Svardin says, "I know lot bout bein unbalanced."

Taverkin squeakily asks, "Whas that mean?"

Fealoke neutrally says, "I would hope there isn't too great a difference between the when we leave from and the when we show up at."

* Orssus just bit the dust!

* Maags just bit the dust!

Pylasar says, "Do not look at it is, back in time, or even forward..."

Cryheart [Local]: "Someone check west gate..Maags is down."

Speaking to Pylasar, Raelee says, "It is not linear."

Pylasar says, "We may be tossed around like rag dolls, frankly."

Pylasar says, "So the best I can tell you is...ride the tide of time."

Nysina flatly says, "Joy."

* Barachado just bit the dust!

Raelee says, "The thread is currently in a tangled knot."

Eaglezaon [Local]: "I'm in the tower above the west gate... keeping an eye out too."

Nairena [Local]: "We see nothing from the north gate towers."

Greganth [The Landing Defense Irregulars]: "Golem in town square south east, very dangerous."

Pylasar shivers.

Pylasar asks, "Did you feel that?"

Nairena [Local]: "It could be a demon!"

* Rolfard just bit the dust!

Olgretien deeply asks, "Feel wut?"

Shadows writhe and flicker along the ground. The shrieks and moans of those long dead resound around the exterior of Wehnimer's Landing!

Bristenn [Local]: "Carrack destroyed."

The Symbol of Need begins to burn in your mind and an image appears before you of Greganth...
[Wehnimer's, Parsnips St.]
This broad conduit leading between the south wall and the square stands nearly deserted after dark, only a few footsteps echoing on the lamplit cobblestones. To one side stands a sedate and dignified shop, the scroll-like sign over its door inscribed in a striking and elegant manner. You also see a sharp steel sword, some dark pants, some heavy iron-studded gauntlets, some black steel-plated boots, a blued steel heavy breastplate, some thick blued steel leg greaves, a huge shadowy black mein golem and the building that houses the offices of the town's leading and only newspaper.

Bekke dryly says, "The cat says the Knights and soldiers have come."

Colors bleed away all around you and you feel a brief, but powerful sense of vertigo as your surroundings shift.

[The Reach, Ravine's Edge]
Far above, the stone bridge is almost entirely concealed by a thick cloud of ethereal smoke that swirls along the jagged outcropping inside the ravine. Likewise, far below, tendrils of ethereal smoke coil about like ghostly ribbons, accompanied by the faint cacophony of a thousand voices. Further into the depth of the gully is almost complete and utter darkness.

The air bends and shimmers, odd sounds popping and humming in the distance. Colors bleed away all around you and you feel a brief, but powerful sense of vertigo as your surroundings shift.
[Beneath the Reach]
Far beneath Melgorehn's Reach, a huge earthen cavern expands out, its jagged walls hugged by shadows and shaped like a giant bowl emptying out into a wide tunnel that declines sharply. The air is chilled and hums with a powerful, ever-constant energy. Throughout the darkness, lengths of ghostly white smoke twist and coil, like the moving bodies of ethereal eels. Along the ceiling of the cavern, a network of glistening black roots spreads out like webbing, steady droplets of blood falling from them.

Greycrown says, "Haven't been down here before."

Ephya [Local]: "We got undead outside the walls. farmers.. trappers."

Cryheart [Local]: "We back at North gate..undead Taladorians here."

Taverkin squeakily asks, "Where...is we?"

Tolwynn says, "At least it wasn't Helga's, this time."

Taverkin hiccups!

Speaking quietly to himself, Drektor says, "Shouldnt have eaten.."

Hoodtralfeck says, "What the hell."

Maiehia glances around the area.

Svardin says, "Tunnel leadin down."

Pylasar wobbles, looking a bit faint.

You ask, "This feels right?"

You try to pull Pylasar towards you.

You ask, "Everyone have their bearings?"

Greganth [The Landing Defense Irregulars]: "Big mean golems around."

*Jonks just bit the dust.

Bristenn [Local]: "Irregulars taking casualties."

The air grows warm and ethereal lights drift through the area like ghostly white smoke. Among the pale mist, images form and shift, first depicting a vast stretch of dunes swirling with sand, a small band of black-veiled tehir moving across them, and then next to a swath of a night sky as a bright green star falls.

You glance at Pylasar.

Rowmi [The Landing Defense Irregulars]: "We need a strong group to battle the golems inside."

A barn owl flies in.

Pylasar says, "Hmm..."

Pylasar says, "Yes...proceed. Slow."

You nod at Pylasar.

Pylasar says, "We do not wish to step OUT of time."

Jarlstrom heartily says, "Downs."

Suddenly, you hear a snarl like thunder as a blood red storm hound appears in a flash of lightning!

Taverkin's hands glow with power as he summons elemental energy to his command...

Taverkin hurls a powerful lightning bolt at a blood red storm hound!

Speaking distractedly to Pylasar, Raelee says, "... when this is all over, you and I are going to have a long discussion about temporal and spatial theory."

You exclaim, "Forward!"

The evanescent shield shrouding Daenalan flares to life and absorbs the essence of the spell, dissipating it harmlessly.

The storm hound's eye swells and cracks head open! Instant death.
The storm hound falls on its side and lets out one last whimpering sigh

Suddenly, you hear a snarl like thunder as a blood red storm hound appears in a flash of lightning!


A shadowy figure leaps from hiding to attack!
The figure swings a sharp gornar tanto at a blood red storm hound!

The storm hound is stunned!

Necrotic energy from the figure's gornar tanto flares up momentarily!

The figure appears to gain succour from the unnatural energy!
