a ramshackle cottage with pale billowing curtains, [Map Room 25], Lich #26447, go cottage

SI, Main Room

Efforts to repair this ramshackle cottage have been attempted with marginal success. Some of the stained wood walls and floorboards have been scrubbed clean of mud, scraped free of moss, and scoured of mold, but a mildewy scent still lingers. Pale curtains in glassless windows flutter in the breeze, billowing out into the mottled sunlight diffused by the undulating fog that comes and goes. Benches with cushions set beside small tables make for a cozy place to relax while sampling the wares.

East Alcove

A slight alcove on the east side of the cottage holds a small mottled steel chest filled with neutrally hued tea packets and a plain oak box of coffee-filled packets illustrated with descriptive icons. The rotted roof overhead is covered with a stained tarp, designed to keep out the elements, though its musty odor almost overshadows the fragrance of the various brews.

A slight alcove on the west side of the cottage holds a large rusted tin chest filled with colorful tea containers, a small square oak box holding several infusers, and a round woven reed basket of flavorings designed to enhance your beverages. The repaired roof overhead is not perfectly done, with evident gaps between the boards stuffed with dried sphagnum moss. The scent of earth almost overwhelms the other delicate fragrances here.

Simply decorated with recipes tacked to what remains of the cottage walls, the handwritten notes are accompanied by painted illustrations of various herbs, spices, flowers, and leaves. Half the ceiling is still intact, while the rest has given way to wood rot, with only a canvas tarp stretched taut and coated stiff with wax to ward off wind and rain. Several braziers set with small pots are either roasting coffee beans or making essences for flavoring.
