GameMaster

A GameMaster in GemStone IV is, for the most part, a former player who has found just playing the game insufficient and has "moved on": they now work behind the scenes creating new areas, items, creatures, or people within the game.

GameMasters are divided into two categories: Customer Experience and Development. CE GMs are directly involved with the customers--be it running a merchant, or taking control of a creature to do something outside of normal behavior, or answering a request for help--while Dev GMs are more in the nuts and bolts of the game.

Most GameMasters have a strange sense of humour. While this is not precisely a job requirement, it certainly helps.
