Subject: Gory Weapons - A Teaser

So, I was working on one the grossest things I have ever worked on to date in GS. I have named them Gory Weapons. I won't be releasing them in mass quantities any time soon, nor will they be something all too common. But soon, you might be able to get your hands on one of the more disgusting Wyrom creations.

You tap a steel longsword with a bright green pommel, which is in your right hand.

You swing a steel longsword at a giant rat!
AS: +238 vs DS: +47 with AvD: +41 + d100 roll: +41 = +273
... and hit for 99 points of damage!
Hard slash to the giant rat's side!
Right arm no longer available for use.
The giant rat shrieks as it slumps to the ground and licks at its wounded right foreleg.
The giant rat twitches and dies.
Blood splatters onto your steel longsword after dispatching the rat!

You tap a steel longsword flecked with droplets of blood, which is in your right hand.

You swing a steel longsword at a giant rat!
AS: +238 vs DS: +47 with AvD: +41 + d100 roll: +88 = +320
... and hit for 124 points of damage!
Wild downward slash severs the giant rat's right foot!
Bloody stump, anyone?
The giant rat squeals loudly and falls to the ground while frantically gnawing at its wounded right hind leg.
The giant rat twitches and dies.
Blood continues to bathe your steel longsword after massacring the rat!

You swing a steel longsword at a giant rat!
AS: +238 vs DS: +47 with AvD: +41 + d100 roll: +62 = +294
... and hit for 142 points of damage!
Slash to the giant rat's lower back!
Kidneys sliced and diced!
Death is slow and painful.
The giant rat collapses to the ground, emits a final squeal, and dies.
Blood continues to bathe your steel longsword after vanquishing the rat!

You tap a steel longsword smeared with blood, which is in your right hand.

They have 10 levels of gore. Don't hunt the living? Maybe you just hunt spirits? No problem!

You swing a steel longsword at a lesser shade!
AS: +238 vs DS: +4 with AvD: +41 + d100 roll: +21 = +296
... and hit for 123 points of damage!
Massive blow obliterates the right knee.
The lesser shade falters as a sickly light flows freely down its leg.
The lesser shade falls to the ground motionless.
Ectoplasm continues to bathe your steel longsword after slaying the shade!

You tap a steel longsword slicked with blood and ectoplasm, which is in your right hand.

If you didn't hunt anything living (or something that doesn't have blood), it won't show the blood like that, it would just be ectoplasm.

But that's not what makes it gross. The verbs are.

You extend your tongue and drag it over the surface of your steel longsword, tasting the blood of your enemies.

You brandish your steel longsword at a giant rat, splattering it with blood.

You raise your steel longsword heavenward in triumph, causing blood to drip down over your face!

You snap your steel longsword skyward, and with a quick downward motion, you sling blood everywhere!

You grip your steel longsword, allowing the blood to pool in your clenched hand.

You turn over your steel longsword and plant it into the floor, causing some of the blood to splatter off of the longsword.

You rotate your wrist, causing blood to drip down from your steel longsword and onto your hand.

You thrust your steel longsword into the ground, striking a threatening pose as the blood on your longsword glistens in the moonlight.

You dance around the area and flaunt your steel longsword, which is coated with blood.

There are others, an auction quality version will have 16 verbs in total. And they change depending the gore level. POSE changes depending on day, night, or darkness indoors.

To top it off? They can be heavily customized for their clean look, their top gory look for blood, ectoplasm, or blood and ectoplasm. They can have a LONG and a SHOW, and the SHOW can be pretty long if you'd like it, for either the clean or gory look. Over 700 characters long. If sold off-the-shelf, they would have only 4 verbs.

They have over 15 "kill" words when the gore splatters onto the weapon.

Due to the nature of this script, it won't work with ranged, UCS equipment, and runestaves (unless swung).

They can be cleaned at any time, and some of the verbs remove some of the gore with each time you do it, till they are eventually clean. But if you find yourself fighting, say a water wyrd?

You swing a steel longsword at a water wyrd!
AS: +238 vs DS: +118 with AvD: +41 + d100 roll: +91 = +252
... and hit for 44 points of damage!
After striking the wyrd, the steel longsword is completely cleaned off.

You glance down to see a steel longsword with a bright green pommel in your right hand and nothing in your left hand.

>>Can you coordinate them with wtrick polish to clean off the gore with special gore removal messaging?

Looks like I can't. Polish doesn't work on altered or scripted weapons.

>>Ohh, and those weapon cleaning kits. Don't forget those! Stones, cloths, etc.

Just checked these too, no way to add that in.

But I'll see if I can add a "cloth" or "rag" option, no promises though.

>>b) Please release as many of these as possible as add-ons to spec existing, favorite weapons. Including / especially the auction level one!

Yeah, this is possible, but it can't exist as a subscript or anything fancy like that due to the number of variables I needed to use. So it will have to go on a plain weapon with no scripts (other properties are fine).

>>c) Would a dagger qualify?

Yes, some messaging changes for smaller weapons.

>Re: Cleaning

Just added in an update that if you have a "cloth" or a "rag" in your hand, it will clean with that. It must have the noun cloth or rag though.

>clean long
You clean off your steel longsword with your cloth, wiping off the surface.
>clean long
You clean off your steel longsword with your cloth, removing the blood and ectoplasm.

Thanks to GMs Lydil and Vanah for feature creeping me, they now have a few new perks.

Fire creatures will work similar to water creatures, in they scorch off the gore.

Skins and pelts can be used to clean your gory weapon now, as well as towels and handkerchiefs.

And big thanks to Lydil for finding a nice inconsistency before the script got into your hands!

I know they have yet to be released to the game...

But through combined efforts from GM Finros and GM Tamuz, GoryWeapons will now work on UCS gloves. They won't work on boots, due to the messaging and how the script works. The script doesn't work on archery for obvious reasons (though I suppose it would work on an arrow if you really wanted to do it). And unless swung, they won't work on runestaves.

Subject: Unleash Your Inner Psychopath [GoryWeapons]

An update was just pushed through for GoryWeapons to allow you to SNAP [DEAD CREATURE] WITH [WEAPON] to unleash your inner psychopath. The messaging is dependent on your DEMEANOR. This will allow people who can't use melee weapons to still be able to make a weapon gory. The ANALYZE was also updated to give a better listing of the verbs by tiers. There were a few small back end things fixed too. Let me know if they act weird.

Subject: GoryVials - Dyeing Feature

Saw a bug report on GoryVials and not being able to dye certain items. So let me give you a run down on what cannot be dyed via GoryVials.

  • Metal items.
  • Pelts.
  • Foraged items.
  • Artisan items.
  • Gems.
  • Shells.
  • Generic treasure items (a gem-inset baton)

Even if a scripted item allows dyeing, the above list will still be blocked. Scripted items, by default, deny dyeing though.
