Hunter's Respite

Hunter's Respite is a private property located in the Ravelin outside of Ta'Vaalor.

This property was auctioned off during Duskruin in August, 2021. It is owned by Uniana. It is a permanent property with no monthly rent that includes a node, two stables, a food-producing garden and fishing area.

Location

Stretched along the bank, a large hoarbeam building dominates the river's edge. Amaranth, pansies, and fire lilies fill the beds to each side of its fel door, while swathes of wisteria festoon its beams and lintels. Bending down to greet their cousins, baskets of ivy and petunias overflow on windowsills. Boisterous conversation carries from the terrace to the river side of the building. You also see a latticed pathway covered in verdant green ivy and an arched hoarbeam footbridge.

Courtyard

[Hunter's Respite, Courtyard]
Well-worn cobblestones of ashen grey and taupe form a winding trail towards a wood-framed dark stone cottage encircled by a copse of full-grown apple trees, a thin trail of chimney smoke dancing between their sturdy branches. A colorful garden of fruits and vegetables encloses either side of the trail, the faint sounds of buzzing and the occasional shuffle from its woodland occupants causing the fauna to rustle. Resting next to a stag-carved mahogany bench are a variety of supplies, the gear protected by the slanted roof. You also see an eahnor-framed door carved from gilded mahogany.

The trees are heavily laden with apples, all at the peak of ripeness.

Sturdy logs of burnished mahogany form the framework of the dark stone cottage, the aged wood covered in a variety of soft moss and ivy. The muted verdant tones blend into the edges of the eahnor-framed door, the lacquered surface carved in roses caught in various states of bloom.

A wooden fence encloses a variety of vegetables, the lattice-draped tomatoes and carrots kept separate from a small patch of snap peas and raspberries. Beyond the cultivated garden sits an antler-set wooden stall door and a wyvern-carved mahogany stall door leading to the well-kept stables.

Main Room

[Hunter's Respite, Chamber]
Wood-framed maps, their once vibrant ink aged beneath the panes of glass, hang between paintings of local flora and wildlife that dot the stone-stacked walls of the stone cottage. Two half-circles of worn leather couches enclose an intaglio-carved table in the center of the room, the seating opening up to a trophy-adorned fireplace rising to the ceiling. Crystalline decanters and glasses rest upon a wheeled steel cart nestled in a back corner. You also see an eahnor-framed door carved from gilded mahogany.

The topographical depictions are highlighted by various cities and port towns, the colors faded by time. Almost indecipherable annotations fill the borders of each map, the writing smudged into the vellum.

Centered upon the angled wall is a shield-shaped dart board flanked by a pair of slightly dinged racks. Behind the wall is the brief glimpse of a carved stone staircase.

Kitchen

[Hunter's Respite, Kitchen]
Iron-framed windows enclose tall panes of glass, the mosaics casting colorful shadows against the lacquered wooden counters of the expansive kitchen. Lattice-woven wicker baskets spill over with a bounty of goods, the containers hanging above the counters from thin iron chains that softly clink together as they sway above an elongated linden table. Set beside an antler-framed door is a small porcelain basin, its base forged from eahnor into the image of rearing stallions flanking an elaborate tower shield.

The finely grained surface of the linden table has been marred by indentations and scratches from various knives, yet it remains well maintained with a thin sheen of oil. A slab of dark-toned slate sits at the center of the table, well within the reach of wooden stools surrounding it.

Sprigs of dried herbs are suspended above the basin, their fragrance wafting throughout the kitchen. Tucked next to the large bowl is a checkered linen cloth separate from a stack of similar looking fabric.

Dock

[Hunter's Respite, Dock]
The faint rustle of the surrounding willow trees echoes against the wood and stone forming the dock area of the cottage, their branches dipping low into the river. A rope-enforced dock extends out into the steadily flowing waters, its pillars dotted with soft moss and algae that brush against the flowing waters. A cobblestone firepit sits within a cluster of flat-topped slate rocks, leaving a mahogany chest of various supplies half-hidden between stacks of firewood and foliage. You also see an antler-framed door leading back to the kitchen.

Bedroom

[Hunter's Respite, Bedroom]
The domed ceiling of the room has been painted with an expansive map of Elanthia, the cities inlaid with burnished eahnor, while the bodies of water reflect their shards of vivid sapphire. A circular bed of lacquered mahogany sits beneath the cartographic design, illuminated by a pierced golden lantern casting scattered patterns of light across the wood-planked floor. Haphazard piles of books lay stacked upon leather-bound trunks nestled to either side of a carved stone staircase.
