Log

Cyph Disoriented

[Town Square Central]

This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer's Landing. The impromptu shops of the bazaar are clustered around this central gathering place, where townsfolk, travellers, and adventurers meet to talk, conspire or raise expeditions to the far-flung reaches of Elanith. At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep.

Snowflakes, infused with the silver light of the night's moon, descend from the heavens, slowly drifting down to the ground.

Some town militia wander by, "...I don't care if he's a Kestrel or a Thaxin...he doesn't belong in our militia...if he's even really alive...more like a freak show..." They wander off.

[people join Cryheart]

Some townspeople arrive and join Cryheart's group, looking around, and shrugging.

[discussion, and Cyph announces on the amunet that he'll in be the square soon]

Barely visible behind the veil of falling snow, the ethereal images of two ghostly girls appear, a flicker of cerulean light surrounding them, before they vanish.

Lord Cyph just arrived.

Cyph waves.

Cyph slings a gold-bound blue rolaren buckler over his shoulder.

Cyph put a polished blue rolaren sword in his black leather sheath.

Cyph says, "Evening."

Speaking affably to Cyph, Cruxophim offers, "Have an apple."

Cruxophim offers Cyph a glistening black apple.

Cyph declines Cruxophim's offer.

Cruxophim looks thoughtful for a moment, then shrugs.

Cruxophim takes a bite of his black apple.

As Cruxophim consumes his apple, an expression of delighted euphoria settles across his features. He makes a mess of his meal, splattering thick blood all over his face.

Cruxophim takes a bite of his black apple.

As Cruxophim consumes his apple, he momentarily pauses, eyes sparking with viciously smug satisfaction. He makes a mess of his meal, splattering thick blood all over his face.

Cyph shakes his head at Cruxophim and clucks his tongue.

Cyph says, "I am enjoying the snow."

Cryheart says, "So was your mother last eve."

Cyph says, "Limited, but good."

Cyph nods at Irar.

Cyph says, "I think...some are not.."

Cyph rubs his chin thoughtfully.

Cyph says, "Open to me."

Cyph says, "I do not blame them."

Cyph says, "My mother tries well to hide her discomfort, I will not fault them anymore than I fault her."

Cyph exclaims, "Oh!"

Cyph says, "I was going to pay to have them delivered but I might as well myself."

Cyph pats his cloak, looking into the folds, checking for something.

Cyph rubs his chin thoughtfully.

Speaking to Cyph, Evia says, "In keeping with tradition, no one has truly trained completely unless the immediately Bite Ye Olde Dust afterwards."

Cyph grins at Evia.

Cyph says, "I..."

Cyph says, "Hmm."

Cyph says, "I had got you flowers to have delivered."

Cyph nods to Leafiara.

A young boy with flour all over his body walks in and recites,

Roses are red,

Violets are blue.

Sugar is sweet,

And you will be too!

The boy then throws a blueberry apple crumble pie square into Leafiara's face!

Laughing he runs away.

Leafiara flails her arms about.

Cyph blinks.

Cyph says, "That was not me."

Speaking amusedly to Cyph, Leafiara says, "W-well, I do like Cholen too..."

Leafiara disappointedly says, "Oh."

Leafiara laughs softly, trying to hide her amusement.

Cruxophim offers Cyph a rich sable wig.

Cyph accepts Cruxophim's sable wig.

Cyph peers quizzically at Cruxophim.

Leafiara gazes up into the heavens.

Cyph slips a rich sable wig over his head, giving his hair a wholly new look.

Cyph asks, "How do I look?"

Speaking to Cyph, Leafiara assures, "And the flowers were delivered two nights ago."

Cyph peers quizzically at Leafiara.

Cyph strikes a heroic pose.

J>look cyph

You see Lord Cyph Kestrel.

He appears to be a Human from Chastonia.

He is average height. He appears to be youthful. He has glassy silver-green eyes and tanned skin. He has mid length, rich sable hair artfully cut in gently front-sweeping style. He has a clean-shaven face, a sharp nose and dimpled cheeks.

He is in good shape.

He is wearing a hooded dark cloak, a gold-stringed dark leather pack, some padded deep blue leathers, an oiled black leather sheath, a pair of charcoal wool trousers, some steel-toed black leather boots, and a gold-bound blue rolaren buckler.

Leafiara takes a moment to observe Cyph.

Cyph asks, "They...were?"

Cyph peers quizzically at Leafiara.

Speaking hesitantly to Cyph, Leafiara asks, "Y--yes?"

Leafiara cocks her head.

Cyph says, "Oh...yes. I must have forgotten."

Cyph blushes a glowing shade of red.

Leafiara simply says, "As a matter of fact, I have them right here."

Leafiara grabs a dozen perfect long stemmed roses from a small pocket inside of her angora cape.

Cyph says, "Sorry..."

Leafiara shows Cyph her long stemmed roses.

Leafiara smiles at Cyph.

Speaking to Cyph, Ysharra asks, "Are you having some problems recalling the days, Lord Cyph?"

Cyph asks, "Huh?"

Cyph says, "Oh...no no not at all."

Cyph says, "I am fine."

Cyph blinks.

Cyph says, "Curses. I'm late for my Volnes night training. Now they'll truly snicker at me."

Cyph bows.

Cyph says, "Excuse me."

Cyph says, "It was great seeing you all."

Kayse perplexedly says, "Volnes?...."

Lord Cyph just went northeast.

Speaking to Kayse, Ysharra says, "I believe he's more lost than he lets on."

Cruxophim carefully ventures, "I don't think he realizes that."

Cryheart says, "Hmm...he is very late then."

Thrassus says, "He's obviously a bit addled."

Kayse slowly says, "It's Tilamaires actually."

Speaking reluctantly to Cruxophim, Leafiara says, "You know, after you gave him that wig I thought of offering to make him some specially-tailored boots, but...I can only encourage him so much."

Speaking sweetly to Leafiara, Cruxophim urges, "Oh, please do."

Speaking sweetly to Leafiara, Cruxophim urges, "I should like to see what happens!!"

Lornieh says, "I'll give them to him if you want Leafi."

Ysharra says, "We all know a big part of his psyche got ripped out during the ritual."

Ysharra says, "We all saw it."

Speaking brightly to Lornieh, Leafiara exclaims, "Oh, that would be perfect!"

Lornieh says, "Ya know, anonymous donation."

Ysharra says, "I'm not a mentalist, but from what I recall with Harith that sort of thing leaves a mark."

Speaking sagely to Lornieh, Leafiara says, "After all, the goal is to be more welcoming to him than, well, -some- of the militiamen..."

Nearby, some town militia chuckle, "...it's not Volnes, are you addled? Lord Adler, har!" Cyph nods, bows politely to them, and rushes off. Two of the militia men stand, shrugging and chuckling, "...strange bird...that Kestrel kid..." They walk off.

Hapenlok says, "Look, he's had his mind rearranged. memory is probably going to be an issue."

Rodnay and the Snow and the Pyramid

A voice in your mind whispers, "Hello."

Admist the shroud of falling snow and the dark of night, a green-eyed blue figure can be seen drifting as gently through the sky as the snow. He descends outside of the Northern Gates, near a long wooden dock that juts out into Darkstone Bay.

[Wehnimer's, Exterior]

The shore extends into a small, sandy promontory that juts into Darkstone Bay. The Landing's great river gate lies southeast of here, guarded on either side by tall twin towers. To the west, this path continues on between Wehnimer's wooden palisade and the sandy beaches along the bay. You also see a small rabbit skeleton and a long wooden dock.

Rodnay holds out his hand, and flakes of snow begin to swirl around his palm. He lowers his hand and the snowflakes drift to the ground.

Rodnay quietly says, "This is not on our world. Strange."

Cryheart says, "Ye can lick the snow, Rodnay."

Rodnay sticks out his tongue.

Rodnay sticks his tongue out and manages to catch a snowflake on its tip!

Rodnay shivers.

Rodnay quietly says, "My father left us at first snow."

Cryheart says, "Sorry to hear that Rodnay."

Rodnay peers quizzically at Cryheart.

Rodnay quietly says, "Do not be sorry."

Rodnay quietly says, "The world is better with him gone."

Cryheart nods at Rodnay.

Rodnay sticks his tongue out.

Rodnay looks out towards Darkstone Bay, staring at the black depths of the waters, as a wall of snow flutters down.

Xorus indifferently says, "There is a pyramid from your world under that Bay."

Rodnay quietly says, "I know."

Rodnay quietly says, "It sings."

Xorus says, "It must sound beautiful."

Kayse offers Rodnay a navy wool coat buttoned in onyx.

Breathless beauty and delight twist along Osloe's deft fingers and flow from his flute like a sparkling cascade.

Rodnay accepts Kayse's navy wool coat.

Kayse offers Rodnay a pair of wide-cuffed chestnut leather boots.

Rodnay peers quizzically at Kayse.

Speaking thoughtfully to Rodnay, Cruxophim murmurs, "I would like to organize an expedition to explore that somehow.... surely we must have the means to scavenge something."

Speaking slowly to Rodnay, Kayse says, "You shivered."

Rodnay rubs his hand along his coat, captivated by the material.

Rodnay quietly asks, "What, is this?"

Cruxophim amusedly suggests, "Sorcerer's familiars, perhaps."

Rodnay accepts Kayse's cuffed chestnut boots.

Speaking to Cruxophim, you muse, "Maybe we can learn a bit about diving from the inhabitants of Caligos..."

Speaking simply to Rodnay, Kayse says, "A coat... to keep you warm."

Speaking to Rodnay, Ysharra says, "It's wool. Rolton fur woven into a warm layer."

Rodnay quietly says, "Wool."

Rodnay quietly says, "It feels nice."

Speaking to Rodnay, Kayse apologizes, "They don't match. We'll work on that later."

Speaking to Rodnay, Ysharra says, "Put it on, it'll help with the shivers."

Rodnay wears his coat.

Rodnay puts a pair of wide-cuffed chestnut leather boots onto his feet.

Speaking disappointedly to Rodnay, Kayse says, "You're missing something."

Kayse just went west.

Speaking to Rodnay, Ysharra asks, "Better?"

Rodnay peers quizzically at Ysharra.

Rodnay quietly says, "The same."

Rodnay quietly says, "I was not cold."

Kayse just arrived.

Speaking to Rodnay, Irar asks, "Do you ever get cold?"

Rodnay quietly says, "When the snow melted, it was an odd sensation."

Rodnay shakes his head.

Rodnay looks over at Irar and shakes his head.

Speaking to Rodnay, Irar asks, "All hot, or all the same?"

Rodnay quietly says, "I just am."

Rodnay nods at Irar.

Irar nods at Rodnay.

Kayse offers Rodnay a sprig of lavender.

Rodnay accepts Kayse's sprig of lavender.

Rodnay smiles at Kayse.

Rodnay puts on a sprig of lavender.

Rodnay points a finger at the Bay, and ripples skip outward, as if he tossed a stone along the surface.

Speaking to Rodnay, Thrassus asks, "Can you bring it out of the bay?"

Rodnay quietly says, "I do not know."

Leafiara curiously asks, "And would you want to?"

Speaking carefully to Rodnay, Cruxophim wonders, "Could you... with help?"

Rodnay quietly says, "I do not know." [note: I'm not sure if this was in response to Crux or me, so I left both in]

So About That Plan With The Swale...

Hapenlok says, "Interesting, and I thought we were going to continue our discussion from the previous night."

Rodnay peers quizzically at Hapenlok.

Hapenlok stares at Rodnay.

Rodnay quietly asks, "What is there to discuss?"

Rodnay peers quizzically at Hapenlok.

Rodnay quietly says, "Feastday, I am going to the Hall." [note: much later in the discussion he decides to give everyone more time; normally I wouldn't jump ahead, but I don't want someone to somehow miss the later point and see this one]

Raelee asks, "... so soon? Why?"

Cryheart asks, "By yourself?"

Rodnay quietly says, "There are those among us who will aid me, and those among us who are fearful."

Speaking calmly to Rodnay, Cruxophim explains, "I know that you mean well, Rodnay, and I see why you wish to do so... but there must be another way. A way that will not have repercussions."

Rodnay quietly says, "I will ask nothing of anyone who wishes not to aid me."

Speaking to Rodnay, Irar asks, "Will you judge badly those who will not aid you?"

Rodnay quietly says, "I will judge no one."

Irar nods at Rodnay.

Madmountan asks, "What about those among us that think the talon is none of your damn business?"

Speaking coldly to Rodnay, Hapenlok says, "And if you want to know what the repercussions could entail...touch my mind. and then you'll know why i'll stop you if i can...and if i have to."

Rodnay quietly says, "All action has repercussions."

Rodnay nods at Cruxophim.

Rodnay peers quizzically at Madmountan.

Madmountan grins at Rodnay.

Rodnay quietly says, "I do not wish the Talon, if that is your concern, Earlbane."

Speaking to Rodnay, Madmountan asks, "Why IS it your business?"

Speaking to Rodnay, Raelee asks, "... Rodnay, you said this was the only way to get the information. Why do you believe that?"

Rodnay quietly says, "I do not wish the man of shadows to have it."

Madmountan rubs his chin thoughtfully.

Madmountan asks, "So it's all just about Quinshon getting it?"

Speaking to Rodnay, Raelee asks, "... do you think Quinshon has somehow influenced the minds of those holding it? Or do other methods simply not occur to you?"

Madmountan snorts!

Speaking thoughtfully to Rodnay, Cruxophim wonders, "Do you not understand that reading their minds is a violation of their thoughts? But also, can you do so undetected?"

Rodnay quietly asks, "Have you a wiser move Magister? Does anyone?"

Rodnay quietly says, "The Hall is not one to willingly provide information, and consider myself, and this town."

Speaking insistently to Rodnay, Raelee says, "They will talk to me."

Speaking to Rodnay, Raelee says, "And the Hall would not want Quinshon to have it either."

Speaking patiently to Rodnay, Cruxophim agrees, "Magister Svala has connections in the Swale, perhaps she can obtain this information in a less... intrusive manner."

Rodnay quietly says, "Your father barely speaks to you now, I have no confidence in you suddenly repairing that relationship."

Rodnay nods at Raelee.

Rodnay quietly says, "The five from Dennet's list need not even know what I seek."

Rodnay quietly says, "I would prefer they do not know."

Rodnay quietly says, "Or they will come."

Rodnay quietly says, "I will take what I need, and no one will be harmed."

Speaking thoughtfully to Rodnay, Cruxophim reminds, "If they find out, however, it will not end well. What you do outside of our gates is up to you -- you are a free man now, but that works both ways."

Speaking to Rodnay, Shinann asks, "Then why are you asking for protection?"

Speaking calmly to Rodnay, Kayse says, "What is your plan to go there undetected. You said no one would get hurt at the Hall or the five you seek."

Rodnay quietly says, "Because I may need it, should they move against me."

Speaking firmly to Rodnay, Cruxophim states, "I will not help nor hinder you in this task as per my duties as Mayor."

Rodnay quietly says, "If I cannot keep hidden, or if a distraction cannot be created."

Speaking to Rodnay, Raelee asks, "... yes. You asked me to protect you there. What do you think I could possibly do?"

Ysharra says, "The Empire has been notoriously harsh with those it deems inhuman. And those with talents..."

Rodnay quietly says, "I asked you to open a portal there."

Speaking seriously to Rodnay, Cruxophim states, "You are a citizen of our town, regardless of what some think. If someone comes for you, it will be over my dead-- well, half-dead body."

Rodnay quietly says, "Your involvement needs not extend beyond that."

Rodnay quietly says, "Others have volunteered to aid me."

Speaking wearily to Rodnay, Raelee says, "My involvement absolutely has to expand beyond that."

Speaking to Rodnay, Shinann asks, "How do we protect you if we only open a portal and none follow?"

Speaking to Rodnay, Lornieh asks, "So if you do succeed in getting this information, without detection, then what?"

Speaking calmly to Rodnay, Cruxophim repeats, "What anyone does beyond the gates is not my concern, but they do so taking the mantle of responsibility of such entirely upon themselves."

Rodnay quietly says, "I was referring to the Magister."

Rodnay quietly says, "I would hope some follow."

Rodnay nods at Shinann.

Rodnay quietly says, "I have been told some would."

Speaking to Rodnay, Shinann asks, "And how would they explain being there?"

Rodnay glances at Lornieh.

Rodnay quietly says, "I do not know."

Speaking quietly to Rodnay, Raelee says, "If I open that portal, I am responsible for everything else that occurs... simply by virtue of knowing and enabling."

Rodnay quietly says, "We must learn of the Talon to best assess a way to manage the shadow man."

Cruxophim earnestly urges, "I ask you only to consider that this may not be the best course of action."

Rodnay quietly says, "I have never introduced it as the best course of action."

Speaking thoughtfully to Rodnay, Cruxophim inquires, "Quinshon, I presume?"

Rodnay nods at Ysharra. [note: as far as I can tell, this is either a response to something she was thinking or whispering or possibly that line way up there about the Empire being harsh with the "inhuman"]

Rodnay nods at Cruxophim.

Speaking to Rodnay, Goldstr asks, "Kin ye rethink yer moves Sir? Mayhaps Magister Realee kin be of great help to ye doins it her way?"

Rodnay quietly asks, "Her way?"

Rodnay peers quizzically at Goldstr.

Rodnay quietly asks, "By asking questions?"

Rodnay quietly says, "I would not wish those to be aware of our inquiry."

Rodnay quietly says, "I wish to take what information is needed from their minds, and leave no trace."

Speaking thoughtfully to Rodnay, Cruxophim wonders, "Have you...considered the ramifications of that act, from... a human perspective?"

Rodnay quietly says, "No, will you find one to explain to me."

Rodnay nods at Cruxophim.

Speaking carefully to Rodnay, Cruxophim suggests, "It is not unlike what others have taken from you."

Speaking curiously to Rodnay, Kayse asks, "Do you know anything at all about the Talon?"

Speaking gently to Rodnay, Cruxophim reminds, "Most do not have your powers, it is... a unique position, I am sure."

Rodnay quietly says, "They will not be aware of the intrusion of their minds."

Leafiara hesitantly replies, "If they won't be aware, then why would they possibly come after you?"

Speaking to Rodnay, Raelee asks, "Tell me this, Rodnay. You have asked the people who follow you to protect you. If you are found and they move against you, what do you expect them to do?"

Rodnay quietly says, "My physical presence there may be detected."

Raelee asks, "Attack them? Kill them?"

Leafiara slowly says, "Ahhh..."

Leafiara nods understandingly.

Rodnay quietly says, "Defend me."

Speaking to Rodnay, Raelee demands, "To what end?"

Speaking slowly to Rodnay, Cruxophim clarifies, "And under what pretense?"

Rodnay quietly says, "Conflict can be subdued without death."

Rodnay quietly says, "I am a Wehnimer's Landing citizen."

Rodnay nods at Cruxophim.

Speaking to Rodnay, Hapenlok says, "Yet, you've got a marked man going along with you....with a broken crown."

Speaking to Rodnay, Ysharra says, "The Mages would be well in their rights to defend themselves."

Rodnay quietly asks, "Defend against what?"

Rodnay quietly asks, "My physical presence?"

Speaking to Rodnay, Shinann says, "We promised your freedom. We secured your freedom. But, you will not listen to us on this. I think you owe it to us to listen to what we are trying to say."

Speaking to Rodnay, Ysharra says, "If you are detected lifting information from their minds without their consent."

Rodnay quietly says, "I am listening."

Speaking to Rodnay, Shinann says, "You are not if you are insisting that we open a portal."

Speaking diplomatically to Rodnay, Cruxophim speculates, "You are thinking.... as you know to think. We are asking you to, perhaps... at least try and think like us."

Rodnay quietly says, "Were I not to have the desire to listen, I would have spent the time to break the blood god's wards on Raelee's mind and force her to open the portal and defend me."

Leafiara curiously says, "The blood god? Not the first time we've heard that phrase recently..."

Rodnay quietly says, "I assure you, I am patient, and listening to you. I owe you my life."

Speaking to Rodnay, Dergoatean asks, "Grishom Stone is the blood god?"

Lornieh says, "Plus if Rodnay fails, then Raelee might be able to question them then... she might have as much luck then as in after the fact."

Rodnay cocks his head at Lornieh.

Rodnay quietly says, "I will not fail."

Lornieh nods at Rodnay.

Rodnay quietly says, "I would gladly accept an alternative plan of asking questions, but speaking of the subject, alerts the Hall."

A Question of Trust

[note: from here through the rest of the log I edit out fewer lines than I normally would, even if Rodnay doesn't respond to them, since it becomes about establishing the motivations of everyone's characters]

Speaking to Rodnay, Raelee says, "Look. I have known about the talon for months. Dennet was not my source. I can get people there to talk to me."

Speaking to Rodnay, Raelee says, "And... and... I knew Tyshon Cooks when we were young. Surely I can convince him..."

Rodnay quietly says, "To extract the information we need, with no trace and no warning, I must use what I can."

Rodnay glances at Raelee.

Rodnay quietly asks, "Truly then, when did you reveal the presence of the Talon, to those gathered?"

Rodnay peers quizzically at Raelee.

Lornieh says, "He has a point Raelee."

Rodnay quietly says, "You have known for months, you claim."

Speaking to Rodnay, Raelee says, "It varies."

Leafiara concedes, "He does."

Speaking to Rodnay, Goldstr asks, "I fer ine agree dar Dennet ner dat Tehir shoulds have dar , dangerous? Talon. Buts shoulds ye posses it an nae be in its influence?"

Rodnay quietly says, "Yet now you wish those gathered to trust you, over me."

Cruxophim bemusedly jests, "Raelee is what we call... an independent contractor."

Madmountan says, "There we go again...why should she have told us about the Talon? I'm sure she knows of 100 other dangerous things we have never heard of before too."

Speaking to Rodnay, Arnylon says, "She espoused armed invasion of the Landing by Thadston. I would say she is hardly one to trust."

Raelee says, "Precisely."

Madmountan says, "I know about stuff that could kill you all that you've never heard of too."

Speaking affably to Madmountan, Cruxophim remarks, "And I know of a few dangerous things, as well. I'm sure we all do."

Raelee nods at Madmountan.

Madmountan says, "I don't talk about it."

Speaking to Cruxophim, Lornieh asks, "Exactly, and she's made it known very well that she never serves the Landing... why would we trust her now?"

Speaking to Rodnay, Hapenlok says, "I've always trusted her. More than I've trusted you since you nourished yourself on the essences of the others who were cocooned with you."

Ysharra says, "One of her charges as a Magister is keeping secrets."

Rodnay quietly says, "I do not wish to possess the Talon, Goldstr."

Speaking to Rodnay, Shinann asks, "Why not use your powers to remove the artifact from Dennet and then find out the whole story at one time?"

Rodnay quietly says, "I wish to learn of it, so we might understand the shadow shaman's intentions."

Speaking thoughtfully to Rodnay, Cruxophim wonders, "What do you wish to happen to it?"

Speaking quickly to Shinann, Raelee says, "No."

Speaking to Raelee, Shinann asks, "Why?"

Speaking to Shinann, Lornieh says, "Rodnay in possession of the talon could be..... quite dangerous."

Rodnay quietly says, "I do not care what happens to it."

Speaking thoughtfully to Rodnay, Cruxophim notes, "I see."

Madmountan asks, "If you can't read Quinshon's mind, then how do you know he seeks the talon?"

Speaking to Rodnay, Goldstr asks, "I fer ine agree Good news me friend buts wha ye plans fer it?"

Leafiara musingly says, "I'm surprising even myself being on the side of the Magister here, but she could probably have lost her livelihood by telling us about the Talon considering who has it..."

Speaking to Shinann, Raelee says, "The Talon is safer in Dennet's posession. You may not believe me, but it is."

Speaking slowly to Lornieh, Kayse says, "He. Doesn't. Want. The. Talon."

Speaking slowly to Rodnay, Cruxophim ventures, "And you believe he seeks to use it?"

Rodnay quietly says, "Your world's artifacts pale to what we can bring."

Leafiara slowly adds, "And yes, I do mean 'livelihood' and not 'life.'"

Rodnay quietly says, "I do not know what he wishes to do."

Lornieh says, "I"m aware... I was merely responding to Shinann's question."

Speaking to Rodnay, Ysharra asks, "I understand you don't want it. You want to keep the one who hurt you from obtaining it, yes?"

Speaking firmly to Rodnay, Kayse says, "You are not one of them."

Speaking calmly to Rodnay, Cruxophim repeats, "We welcome all kinds here, Rodnay. I ask merely that you not forget your human side. Believe me, I know it can be... difficult at times, but perhaps not impossible."

Speaking to Ysharra, Raelee says, "For what it is worth, I do not think Dennet relishes Quinshon acquiring it either."

Speaking thoughtfully to Kayse, Cruxophim disagrees, "He both is, and is not."

Speaking to Raelee, Ysharra says, "I think almost all of us can agree to that goal."

Ysharra says, "Maybe...I don't know...we should consider that."

Speaking skeptically to Ysharra, you ask, "So you're saying... it's possible we could ally with Dennet on this?"

Ysharra says, "A common goal popping out of the ether."

Rodnay's Motivation... and Quinshon's Daughter

Rodnay quietly says, "I wish to keep the shadow man from what he desires, then turn him and his daughter inside out, and bleed them as they bled me. I will end him, so his legacy of suffering does not extend, and no one else will fall to his shadows."

Lornieh says, "Ally with Dennet? You must be joking."

Speaking simply to Lornieh, you say, "I don't buy it either..."

Ysharra says, "No. But it does mean the Hall of Mages might consider our request more seriously if they knew the stakes."

Speaking to Rodnay, Dergoatean asks, "His daughter? What for?"

Arnylon says, "It's good to have goals."

Marijka dryly asks, "Well, be clear about your motivations, won't you?"

Speaking to Rodnay, Irar asks, "His daughter?"

Kipa asks, "Daughter?"

Ysharra says, "And that the artifact is within one Chaos-riddled Grand Magister of falling into Quinshon's burnoose."

Xorus says, "Naimorai."

Hapenlok raspily says, "Naimorai."

Speaking hesitantly to Rodnay, Leafiara asks, "There are so many things I could say to that, but the first is... what did Naimorai do?"

Rodnay nods at Xorus.

Speaking to Dergoatean, Goldstr says, "Nairomai nae be Dennet's so's been said."

Speaking to Rodnay, Irar asks, "Naimorai bled you?"

Speaking calmly to Rodnay, Cruxophim reminds, "Vengeance begets only suffering, Rodnay; Carenos illustrates that point profoundly. They say that if it is vengeance you seek.... dig two graves."

Rodnay quietly says, "She was there, twice, with her blood father. Never when the earth mage came."

Speaking to Rodnay, Ysharra asks, "Rodnay...do you know what's happening to Lady Reannah?"

Speaking to Cruxophim, Dergoatean says, "I think he's already planning on it - one for Dennet and one for Naimorai."

Speaking to Rodnay, Hapenlok says, "Were they responsible for what happened to me?"

Rodnay peers quizzically at Hapenlok.

Speaking to Rodnay, Arnylon asks, "She is Quinshon's progeny?"

Lornieh says, "I think he means Quinshon and Naimorai....."

Speaking to Rodnay, Hapenlok asks, "Making me think I killed Sir Michol?"

Rodnay quietly says, "I do not know. I cannot see that."

Speaking to Rodnay, Irar asks, "How are you sure of the status of her parentage?"

Rodnay quietly says, "It is prevention as much as vengeance."

Rodnay nods at Cruxophim.

Speaking to Rodnay, Ysharra asks, "Why did they do that to you, Rodnay? Were they just trying to learn more about what you are?"

Speaking to Rodnay, Ysharra asks, "Or did they have a more specific goal?"

Rodnay quietly says, "I do not know."

Speaking thoughtfully to Rodnay, Cruxophim echoes, "Do you... have a theory?"

Rodnay quietly says, "Near the end, before my release, when they took the most blood, their minds were guarded."

Rodnay quietly says, "Blood is power."

Subarashi quietly says, "I think I know."

Speaking thoughtfully to Rodnay, Cruxophim speculates, "Is it possible that they were taking blood to attempt to cure Reannah? Grief does drive people to extreme measures."

Rodnay quietly says, "Lady Reannah is dying."

Rodnay nods at Ysharra.

Subarashi says, "The magic they used when they transferred Cyph. One of the reagents was his blood, I think."

Rodnay quietly says, "It is possible."

Rodnay nods at Cruxophim.

Rodnay quietly says, "They took it twice from me. The second time, far more than the first time."

Rodnay quietly says, "Then I awoke fully."

Speaking thoughtfully to Rodnay, Cruxophim continues, "If there is an alternative, perhaps they will leave you be. They must anyways, now... you are here."

Speaking seriously to Rodnay, Cruxophim opines, "What they did was wrong, bleeding you like that."

Rodnay quietly says, "You have done worse Mayor."

Speaking wryly to Rodnay, Cruxophim agrees, "I have, I do not deny it."

Leafiara sympathetically reasons, "Rodnay... I've had my blood taken twice as well, and there is no one I want vengeance on more than Raznel because of it, but--Magister Raelee has made it very clear we could be looking at a riot or worse if you're discovered during this."

Rodnay quietly says, "Then let me not be discovered."

Leafiara counters, "Why not seek vengeance in a more direct way? Why do we need the Talon?"

Rodnay quietly says, "It is more prevention, than vengeance."

Subarashi says, "My suggestion would be the Hall."

Rodnay glances at Irar.

Rodnay whispers something to Irar.

Cruxophim surreptitiously glances at Irar.

Rodnay peers quizzically at Cruxophim.

Rodnay quietly says, "Standing upon an altar, in Tamzzyr."

Rodnay nods at Irar.

Speaking to Subarashi, Raelee says, "... if the Talon is removed from Dennet and Quinshon's hands, the political ramifications of not turning it over to the Hall will be magnitudes greater than the plinite matter."

Rodnay quietly says, "I do not pry."

Rodnay nods at Irar.

Irar smiles at Rodnay.

Evia asks, "Alright I am once again quite confused. Where is this dreadful relic anyway?"

Speaking to Rodnay, Irar says, "Thank you."

Speaking to Raelee, Lornieh asks, "What right does the Hall have to it?"

Subarashi says, "I'm not concerned with that. I just think it's the safest place, provided enough of the Grand Magisters know about it."

Rodnay quietly says, "I understand some fear me. I do not wish to know all, or pry without great reason."

Speaking to Raelee, Lornieh says, "That's a serious question, nae sarcasm."

Raelee says, "It was originally recovered deep in Imperial Territory, for one."

Subarashi adds, "Enough to keep any one from pulling what Dennet tried."

Rodnay nods at Irar.

Raelee says, "Based upon reasearch conducted within the Hall."

Rodnay quietly says, "The Talon is in the Outpost."

Evia says, "Oh."

Rodnay quietly says, "Or beneath it, or in the earth."

Alternatives? Evolution?

Shinann frowns.

Speaking to Raelee, Lornieh asks, "And sorry, but they've been terribly responsible with it, now haven't they?"

Rodnay quietly asks, "Have you no alternatives, beyond me reading minds, or someone asking them questions?"

Rodnay glances at Shinann.

Rodnay quietly asks, "More time?"

Speaking to Rodnay, Hapenlok says, "And going to the Swale....is going to end badly. Usually these expeditions end badly. And there's thousands of people on the other side of that wall that just want to be left alone....that always suffer more than we do, when we do these things."

Rodnay peers quizzically at Shinann.

Shinann nods at Rodnay.

Speaking to Rodnay, Hapenlok challenges, "Consider that."

Speaking wryly to Rodnay, Cruxophim admits, "Hapenlok is right, our visits abroad have not... typically worked out well."

Speaking to Hapenlok, Lornieh asks, "So I'm curious... you shoot down every suggestion, but what is yours?"

Speaking to Lornieh, Hapenlok says, "Send me."

Rodnay quietly says, "It is possible, I need not be within the Hall's walls, but close, in the streets perhaps."

Rodnay quietly says, "I do not know how well any wards may be that exist outside."

Rodnay quietly asks, "Are you?"

Rodnay peers quizzically at Raelee.

Speaking to Hapenlok, Lornieh asks, "Why would we do that?"

Speaking to Lornieh, Hapenlok says, "I'm insane."

Speaking hopefully to Hapenlok, Cruxophim wonders, "Will be rid of you if we do?"

Hapenlok begins to twitch.

Cruxophim flashes Hapenlok a toothy grin.

Hapenlok says, "And ...that."

Hapenlok nods at Cruxophim.

Speaking to Rodnay, Raelee asks, "Am I what, precisely?"

Hapenlok says, "My actions can be more disavowed than two dozen."

Speaking gently to Hapenlok, Cruxophim assures, "I'm kidding."

Rodnay quietly says, "I do not know how well any wards may be that exist outside the Hall in the Swale."

Rodnay quietly asks, "Do you know of any?"

Rodnay quietly says, "Were I to be outside of the Hall, pressing my mind inside."

Speaking to Rodnay, Raelee says, "The Swale is a city owned by the Kestrels. There are wards everywhere."

Speaking to Rodnay, Raelee says, "... as to whether or not you can bypass them, I could not say."

Rodnay quietly says, "Then it is best I am inside the Hall."

Speaking to Raelee, Ysharra asks, "Wards against powers like Rodnay's?"

Speaking to Rodnay, Raelee says, "No, I think it is best you test that when you arrive and not just assume now."

Rodnay quietly says, "I do not suspect we will have enough time for me to break down ancient wards. I am limited at this time in my phase."

Rodnay nods at Ysharra.

Cruxophim gazes at Rodnay.

Cruxophim closes his eyes and turns an ear towards Rodnay, listening to him with a curious expression.

Kipa asks, "Phase?"

Speaking to Rodnay, Raelee says, "Physically entering the college is remarkably foolish. You can take a few minutes to feel out the wards."

Rodnay nods at Cruxophim.

Cruxophim nods understandingly at Rodnay. [note: seems to be a thought exchange or whispers]

Rodnay nods at Kipa.

Speaking to Rodnay, Kipa asks, "May I ask what that means?"

Rodnay quietly says, "My evolution has just begun."

Rodnay nods at Kipa.

Speaking to Rodnay, Irar asks, "Your evolution?"

Speaking slowly to Rodnay, Kayse asks, "Evolution?"

Rodnay quietly says, "Yes."

Rodnay quietly asks, "Am I not saying the word...correctly?"

Speaking to Rodnay, Kipa asks, "You are evolving into something more than what you are now?"

Rodnay quietly asks, "Yes, aren't we all?"

Rodnay peers quizzically at Kipa.

Speaking to Rodnay, Dergoatean asks, "What do you think you will become?"

Rodnay quietly says, "I will become what I become."

Speaking to Rodnay, Dergoatean says, "Tautology is not an answer."

Speaking to Rodnay, Shinann asks, "And will you return to the Ithzir plane? Is that your goal?"

Kipa says, "I look forward to seeing it."

Rodnay quietly says, "No."

Shinann nods slowly.

Shinann says, "I had to ask."

Shinann asks, "How do we explain our being there, if we do this?"

Shinann sighs.

Rodnay quietly says, "I do not know."

Rodnay quietly says, "I will submit to your request."

Rodnay nods at Shinann.

Rodnay quietly says, "I will give you more time."

Speaking to Rodnay, Shinann says, "Thank you."

Speaking to Rodnay, Irar asks, "How much time will you give?"

Lornieh says, "Teuriz warned us of Quinshon... to have such a powerful artifact within his reach...."

Rodnay quietly says, "I cannot determine that."

Rodnay quietly says, "Work tirelessly, I beg of you."

Shinann agrees with Rodnay.

Speaking evenly to Lornieh, Leafiara concedes, "Although, to be fair, for some reason he also thought that one day he'd have to stand with Quinshon against the blood god... Grishom Stone, in other words."

Rodnay quietly says, "Dennet and Quinshon work towards something, despite everything."

Urgency With Reannah

Speaking to Rodnay, Raelee asks, "... you are willing to allow more time? To delay beyond Feastday?"

Rodnay quietly says, "Lady Reannah will die by the 60th day of this night."

Speaking slowly to Rodnay, Cruxophim clarifies, "60 days?"

Rodnay quietly says, "They do not know this."

Rodnay nods at Cruxophim.

Speaking to Leafiara, Lornieh asks, "Are you saying he's biased?"

Rodnay quietly says, "But they will see it soon enough."

Leafiara worriedly asks, "That... is a great reason to be concerned, but what does have to do with the Talon and going to retrieve it?"

Speaking to Rodnay, Thrassus asks, "How much do you know about Reannah's infliction?"

Cryheart asks, "Ye can gaze into the future Rodnay?"

Speaking to Lornieh, Leafiara acknowledges, "No... more that I'm not sure who or what Quinshon is."

Speaking to Lornieh, Dergoatean asks, "Didn't Teuriz also tell us we'd need Quinshon when we fight against the blood god?"

Speaking to Dergoatean, Leafiara says, "I just said that."

Leafiara starts chortling.

Rodnay quietly says, "Her blood sings, and it fades, and it has gone quiet in some areas."

Rodnay quietly says, "I cannot see the future."

Rodnay looks over at Cryheart and shakes his head.

Cryheart says, "Well one can make a general assumption, but to specify a particular date..that is another matter."

Leafiara skeptically asks, "Do we need to get the Talon to help Reannah?"

Lornieh says, "I think we need to make haste then on a plan, for the Lady Reannah's sake."

Subarashi dismissively says, "I don't believe anyone can see the future. There's too much of it."

Rodnay quietly says, "Only that her blood is fading, the song of her life is faint."

Speaking simply to Rodnay, Cruxophim ventures, "And this is the work of this... Talon?"

Rodnay quietly says, "Her death could come sooner, if her poison escalates."

Leafiara admits, "I'm not seeing the connection between curing her and getting the Talon... even though we've been told that the Talon is partially causing her ailment."

Speaking to Rodnay, Irar asks, "So your prediction isn't definite?"

Rodnay quietly says, "Correct."

Irar nods at Rodnay.

Rodnay quietly says, "On her current form, she has that long."

Lornieh asks, "Well, if her being near the artifact caused her affliction... would not removing it from her presence possibly cure her?"

Rodnay quietly says, "Should she weaken further, it could increase."

Speaking to Rodnay, Lornieh asks, "Would it cure her? Removing it from her presence?"

Speaking to Rodnay, Ysharra asks, "You said poison...did you mean that literally?"

Rodnay quietly says, "Something taints her blood."

Rodnay quietly says, "I cannot sense much else from it. It is powerful. It is magical."

Cruxophim whispers to the group, "Reannah alluded to knowing about something Dennet planned to do in the Bleaklands toward her cure, yes."

Leafiara whispers to the group, "Oh, now there's a thought... whether Dennet leaves the Talon behind or takes it with him to the Bleaklands, perhaps that's an opportunity to strike and take it."

Rodnay peers quizzically at Leafiara.

Rodnay quietly says, "I do not know, if they need the Talon or not, to help Reannah."

Rodnay quietly says, "I do not care if she lives or dies."

Speaking to Rodnay, Evia asks, "Do you actually care if anyone or all of us, live or die, actually?"

Rodnay quietly says, "Yes."

Evia says, "Well that is something."

Rodnay looks noticeably weaker.

Rodnay hangs his head.

Rodnay quietly says, "I must rest."

Speaking to Rodnay, Ysharra asks, "Do you sleep?"

Rodnay quietly says, "No."

Speaking to Rodnay, Ysharra asks, "What about the peony seeds, did they help?"

Rodnay quietly says, "Comforting."

There is a brief shimmer in the air, and Rodnay is gone.
