Summary

Four ships approach the [[::Wehnimer's Landing|Landing]] and their workers disembark, complaining of a thick fog that they went through for two days with winds that pushed them back and eventually returned them to the Landing. The captain makes the decision to deliver the supplies to Vornavis by land starting tomorrow. Afterward, [[::Naimorai_Kestrel|Naimorai]]--or at very least someone dressed like her with her eye color--is briefly seen passing through town.

Log

A cold chill settles in the area.

The faint outline of a ship can be seen on the horizon of Darkstone Bay.

[Wehnimer's, North Dock]

The dock's planks are dull and weathered from the salt spray of many seasons. Northward beyond the massive sea gates, a flock of ice geese passes, silhouetted against the sky over the dark blue waters of Darkstone Bay. The hulk of a derelict coastal sailer is tethered to the end of the pier. You also see a forest wolf, the dark waters of Darkstone Bay and a stack of empty crates.

A second ship comes into view.

Two more ships come into view, joining the other two, as they slowly make their way towards Wehnimer's Landing. A sky of snow falls gently down around them.

The masts or banners of the ships are still obscured by the heavy snowfall, but they seem to shift in the waters, nearing the sea gates and north dock of Wehnimer's Landing.

The four ships slowly drift into view, each one a different size, and only two of them flying banners that seem familiar, one of them a striped warcat, the other a local symbol of the town used by some of the shipper families. All ships slowly pass through the sea gates and drift towards the north docks. Their vessels look in good enough condition, but some torn masts and weathered sides.

The four ships slowly stop at the north dock, and their crews begin to scramble, some unloading crates, while others just gather around the docks and begin arguing and shouting.

A crowd of town workers gather, most of them from the ships, and they begin cursing and swearing.

Someone from the crowd says, "Damn fog, it's been two days, we never could get through!"

Someone from the crowd says, "We tried, and we tried, but we could never see beyond it, and strong winds always turned us back home."

A scruffy ship captain walks down off the ship.

The captain scowls.

The scruffy ship captain says, "Damn near thought we'd never find a port, or our port again."

The scruffy ship captain says, "We went through that fog for damn near two days, I think."

The scruffy ship captain says, "Never got through it, further it seem'd we went, strong'r the winds came. Turned us right back here eventually."

Cryheart says, "That sounds bad."

Earthdiver says, "So you were forced to dock here."

Speaking to a scruffy ship captain, Hapenlok says, "You did well to bring her in, Captain. that's a fine bit of seamanship."

Cryheart says, "Magical event captain."

The scruffy ship captain says, "Aye. Not just my ship." [difficult to tell who this was in response to, but the four above seem the most likely candidates]

The scruffy ship captain says, "Four of us so far it seems like."

The scruffy ship captain says, "Two others went out same night we did, I dunno if they got through, or still floating,"

The scruffy ship captain says, "I don't see their ships here."

Cryheart asks, "Whose ships?"

Cryheart says, "Other than ours."

The scruffy ship captain says, "Traders, you know."

Speaking to a scruffy ship captain, Goldstr asks, "Where be ye headed?"

The scruffy ship captain says, "I was headin' south to Vornavis, take some supplies."

Bekke says, "Have you any interesting cargo? I'm always curious what would cause a ship to sail at this time of the year."

The scruffy ship captain says, "Spices and meat. Nothing fancy."

The scruffy ship captain says, "I suppose I'll be hirin' some teamsters to go south on the roads to Vornavis."

The captain grumbles.

Speaking to a scruffy ship captain, Shinann asks, "When will you do so?"

The scruffy ship captain says, "Tomorrow."

The scruffy ship captain says, "If I'm too late, I lose profits."

Shinann nods.

Cryheart says, "If ye can, please notify them in Vornavis that we seem to be isolated by sea."

The scruffy ship captain says, "Aye, I'll do that."

Cryheart says, "Thank ye."

The scruffy ship captain says, "Maybe some damn'd winter storm."

The scruffy ship captain says, "I dunno, annoyin' as hell though."

The scruffy ship captain says, "I'm too old for this crap."

The captain waves and storms off.

[discussion, then we eventually return to outside Moot Hall, then more discussion, then...]

A woman in a green cameline cloak walks by hurriedly, pulling the garment tight to her body. Her slate blue eyes seem to catch the silver of the falling snow, and then she turns a corner and like a shadow, she is gone.

[some people venture that it's Naimorai, but nobody reports seeing her again, so... end night here]
