Summary

• Vlashandra's white fire appears outside Moot Hall and Sir Cryheart leads on to greet her. Pukk offers her a birthday cake given by Gutstorm for Razanetika and Darcena--upcoming in the latter case--but she ignores him and announces that Pylasar's trial will commence on Feastday and Restday. He faces charges of duplicitous acts, lending aid and comfort to the enemy, and conspiracy to commit murder and treason. There'll be opportunity to speak for or against him.

• She asks for questions and Magister [[::Raelee_Svala|Raelee]] asks why she's mimicking her physical appearance. Vlashandra says maybe Raelee is mimicking hers; Raelee says otherwise. Vlashandra says Grand Magister Octaven says it suits her (Vlashandra), and Raelee should feel flattered--Octaven found her appearance appealing, but she lacked in other areas. She (Vlashandra) lives to serve.

• An indignant Alisette says the thing lacking is Vlashandra's manners, couth, and good judgment, and Raelee's been nothing but professional. Raelee tries to quell the bickering, but Alisette tells Vlashandra she's laughable, needing to mimic. Vlashandra idly touches Alisette's locket and tells her she has the face and body of a child (she's a halfling), and not to concern herself with the affairs of real women.

• Soneiken asks if Pylasar pleads innocent or guilty or if we don't know; Vlashandra says his location is unknown for now.

• Vlashandra is about to leave, but Captain Shinann says she had a question Vlashandra ignored earlier: why does Octaven get to destroy the [[::Wehnimer's Landing|Landing]]'s pylons, kill its citizens, and just throw money and a weak apology in return? Octaven also knew Dennet was a rogue mage, so why does she have no trial? Vlashandra asks if that's truly a question for her; Shinann says she asked for questions, and if she can't answer then maybe she's the one not woman enough to handle the trial.

• Vlashandra says Pylasar's on trial, not Octaven, and she isn't sure Shinann's point has been accurately executed. Shinann says Octaven should be on trial; Vlashandra makes a remark about if we had a list of all who should be...

• Krampton urges her off to go for her bed time and Vlashandra says she never said anything about sleep, then vanishes.

• Mother steps into view from the shadows, looking where Vlashandra left, and notes to Mayor Leafiara that the [[::Turamzzyrian Empire|imperial]] presence is growing. Pukk offers her a cake and she takes it, then signals to a street corner for a young boy to take it and eat it.

• Mother asks Leafi what we'll do about this trial; she says she intended to let the foolish trial play out, and Roblar says not much to do but eat and drink and watch--it's a show, with no one present to suffer a result.

• One of Octaven's golems wanders by and Mother signals to a street corner, where a young girl emerges to throw a rock and lure it away.

• Leafi says the trial is a waste of time, but she suspects that the [[::Hall of Mages|Hall]] might be withholding information and does know how to find Pylasar, which would mean we have a chance of getting him back if they go through with their sham. Mother asks if she suspects they wish to hold the trial and then find him; Leafi clarifies that they might already know how, but are holding back until the trial or shortly after.

• Rasson speculates that Pylasar might be hopping through time and the Hall might know when he'll show; Zosopage questions why the trial is taking place in a town that doesn't want it; later Sir Goldstr says there has to be a deeper reason for wanting this trial. Leafi agrees with all of them: the timing is suspicious, the place is suspicious, and they don't need the Landing for most goals they could want from the trial.

• Alisette says maybe Vlashandra is looking like Raelee to lure Pylasar out; Mother says it's not that, but she's one of Octaven's lovers in the Hendoran outpost, as the [[::Brotherhood of Rooks|Rooks]]' eyes and ears have not vanished from the outpost.

• Mother raises the possibility of arranging our own trial, of Octaven; Leafi says she'd certainly been thinking it, after what Shinann said earlier, given the precedent of not needing to have the accused present.

• Balley says the Hall wants to get the judgment off themselves and make Pylasar take the fall, pinning their wrongdoings on him. Raelee says Pylasar was involved in the deaths of numerous people and it's not a coverup or attempt at false blame, as he's admitted to such in public. Mother asks if, by that logic, Octaven's past actions don't also warrant a trial. Raelee says to do as she will, as she doubts she can change Mother's opinion; Mother says her non-answer is very Vlashandra of her. She reiterates the question and Raelee says she knows, but it is not up to her, then tells Shinann that if she wants a trial, hold her own. Balley proposes the idea of stopping the trial and Raelee says that if we do, it will just be conducted elsewhere; Leafi questions this since the Hall seems insistent on doing it in the Landing, but Raelee says they'd do it elsewhere.

• Mother extends her congratulations to Mayor Leafiara and says perhaps there are resources for two trials if enough wisdom prevails, and perhaps ours will look differently. Darcena says she's curious how Mother would enforce the outcome of a trial for Octaven; Leafi says she can do it as well as the Hall can enforce one on the missing Pylasar; Darcena says the Hall has a lot more power than Mother--then asks Mother if that's accurate. Mother just grins and disappears into an alley.

[Town Square Central]

This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer's Landing. The impromptu shops of the bazaar are clustered around this central gathering place, where townsfolk, travellers, and adventurers meet to talk, conspire or raise expeditions to the far-flung reaches of Elanith. At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep. Leafiara suspiciously says, "Maybe that rain dance did work."

Pukk recites:

Phomate says, "Supposed der'll be lightinnin."

Dwi: "Pukk git zapped yet?"

Cryheart says, "I see no change."

Speaking to Cryheart, Pukk says, "Give it time."

Speaking slyly to Cryheart, Darcena says, "I never regret a chance to stand close to you."

Monthas says, "Kind of feel left out."

Dwi: "No dat Imma rootin fer dat..."

Leafiara notes, "The thunder did sound a bit distant."

Pukk: "Yeah yeah."

Speaking to Cryheart, Pukk says, "You're getting old too."

Alisette says, "I am behind Darcena, so... safe."

Speaking to Cryheart, Rzail says, "Well, we did have clear skies."

Cryheart says, "Ye just missed Stormy."

Speaking to Chaoswynd, Pukk says, "You just missed Stormy."

Speaking to Alisette, Nicolas asks, "Know what's going on?"

Darcena says, "She was tired and went to sleep."

Gutstorm recites:

Gutstorm removes a slice of birthday cake from in his traveller's cloak.

Chaoswynd amusedly says, "I'm aware."

Speaking flirtatiously to Chaoswynd, Darcena says, "I will keep you company."

Rzail says, "Hey, calm down with the cake buddy."

Razanetika grabs Gutstorm and drags him east.

Speaking amusedly to Cryheart, Leafiara says, "Well, so much for your lack of cake." [he was saying earlier in the night that he hadn't eaten birthday cake in years]

A tiny coil of white fire appears briefly outside of Moot Hall.

Darcena says, "Goodness."

Rzail says, "One slice per year is plenty for Darcena, and I'm sure you went, well past, by 2 or 3."

Alisette says, "The hall."

Sir Cryheart's group just went east.

Here in the center of a broad plaza near the commercial area of the bazaar stands the impressive facade of the slate-roofed Moot Hall, where the citizens of Wehnimer's Landing hold various official, religious and social functions. Facing the square are some of the town's more prosperous shops, still doing business with the many customers who still frequent the streets at night. Pukk exclaims, "A cake fight!"

Phomate says, "The not Grishom guy."

Leafiara says, "I believe that fire is the sign of Vlashandra."

Shinann asks, "Why is there cake everywhere?"

Phomate asks, "Didn't she steal the statue last time?"

Alisette: "Yep, she is movin in, Dwi."

Speaking to Phomate, Leafiara says, "She did, but Thadston's asked for it back within the week."

Phomate says, "Er made the golems do it."

A flicker of white fire glows in the air and begins to expand.

Pukk asks, "White fire?"

Rzail says, "Umm, the sky is falling."

Rzail recites:

Speaking to Rzail, Pukk says, "Yep..."

Gutstorm drunkenly says, "Have some cake before yooz die."

Leafiara calmly says, "It's fine. ...probably."

Darcena sharply barks, "Settle down."

Alisette emphatically says, "Not me....I am behind Darcena."

Darcena mutters, "Noisy as pups."

Phomate says, "Dyin slowly."

Speaking to Rzail, Leafiara suggests, "Just stay behind Roblar or Cryheart."

White flames spring to life, churning into a pillar and then taking on the shape of a humanoid woman before finally the fires peel away to reveal Vlashandra.

Vlashandra removes the hood of her robe, revealing her features.

Pukk recites:

"Everybody join Cryheart to stay safe!"

Alisette nods to Vlashandra in greeting.

Phomate says, "Knew it."

Vlashandra grins at Alisette.

Rzail says, "Fiery woman."

Speaking to Vlashandra, Phomate asks, "Whatcha takin today?"

Speaking to Vlashandra, Pukk exclaims, "Oh you joined us for Raza's birthday!"

Pukk offers Vlashandra a birthday cake.

Vlashandra turns away from Pukk, ignoring him.

Vlashandra declines Pukk's offer.

Zosopage whispers to the group, "They do love to make an entrance."

Roblar deeply asks, "Depends, are people guud or bad?"

The gypsy fortuneteller smiles at you and whispers, "I know many things unseen."

Leafiara diplomatically says, "Lovely."

Speaking to a gypsy fortuneteller, Pukk exclaims, "Well tell her then!"

Rzail asks, "Who?"

Cryheart says, "Pylasar, a mage of the Hall."

Darcena asks, "Had any sight of him yet?"

Speaking to Rzail, Phomate says, "Da guy."

Phomate says, "Not Grishom."

Rzail says, "Never heard of em."

Speaking drunkenly to Dwi, Gutstorm says, "It Razzy birdday."

Speaking to Leafiara, Raelee says, "... as one should."

In a dramatic display, Roblar waves his paddle in Vlashandra's face and you watch as the attached ball hurtles towards her. The indigo ball smacks Vlashandra right in the nose, and seems to stay there for several seconds before falling away to dangle limply from its string.

Speaking agreeably to Raelee, Leafiara says, "Never said otherwise."

Speaking heartily to Gutstorm, Dwi says, "She used it more den ye."

Rzail says, "Question everything, leave nothing to chance."

Speaking to Vlashandra, Pukk asks, "Yes. I seem to have lost my socks, can you tell me where they are?"

Roblar deeply says, "Lost control."

Vlashandra peers quizzically at Raelee.

Speaking curiously to Vlashandra, Raelee asks, "Why are you mimicking my physical appearance?"

Dannore says, "Thats not going to go over well."

Speaking drunkenly to Dwi, Gutstorm says, "Goldie naughty."

Vlashandra says, "Perhaps you are mimicking mine."

The gypsy fortuneteller smiles at you and whispers, "I know many things unseen."

Vlashandra smirks.

Speaking to Raelee, Darcena exclaims, "That was going to be my question!"

Speaking to Vlashandra, Raelee says, "I am not."

Speaking to a gypsy fortuneteller, Pukk asks, "Well, where are my socks then?"

Speaking heartily to Gutstorm, Dwi says, "She does wot she does...unlike ye..."

Krampton reflectively says, "Me kinda miss em flyin' around like a shootin' star and landin in a pile and forgettin' what year it is."

Speaking to Raelee, Darcena asks, "Were you in that vision with Grishom?"

Darcena asks, "And are we sure it wasn't actually her?"

Darcena points at Vlashandra.

Gutstorm drunkenly says, "Take off yooz robes, I tell yooz who who."

Speaking curiously to Darcena, Leafiara says, "Interesting thought. I like it."

Speaking to Roblar, Pukk says, "I think you can take her...I have confidence in you."

Speaking to Vlashandra, Shinann says, "I do. Why does Octaven get to destroy our pylons, attack and kill our citizens and just throw a bit of money toward us and a weak she's sorry? She also knew Dennet was a rogue mage."

Speaking drunkenly to Rzail, Gutstorm says, "Trush me."

Vlashandra touches the side of her face, smiling slowly.

Speaking heartily to Razanetika, Dwi says, "He's itchin to gits dem glubs inna helden's ring."

Vlashandra says, "She says it suits me and I wear you well."

Darcena echoes, "She."

Speaking heartily to Razanetika, Dwi says, "Where he'll lose."

Speaking to Vlashandra, Raelee asks, "Who says this?"

Speaking to Raelee, Pukk asks, "I thought you were both twins....are you not?"

Speaking to Raelee, Rzail says, ""She"."

Speaking wryly to Vlashandra, Alisette says, "That is a form of admiration. You must admire Magister Raelee greatly."

Vlashandra says, "The Grand Magister."

Speaking to Vlashandra, Phomate asks, "Wearing someone else's face?"

Speaking heartily to Razanetika, Dwi says, "Cake issa frostin delibery mechanism."

(Phomate hacks up a hairball.)

Pietra says, "And it's delicious."

Speaking to Roblar, Pukk says, "Cake."

Speaking pointedly to Vlashandra, Alisette says, "And rightly so."

Speaking flatly to Vlashandra, Raelee says, "... I see."

Goldstr joins Cryheart's group.

Speaking to Gutstorm, Rzail says, "You know, kinda like twin sisters who wanna kiss you, but not really, they just take you in the back alley and have their boyfriends beat the snot out of you."

Speaking to Goldstr, Pukk says, "Slow poke."

Speaking doubtfully to Raelee, Darcena asks, "Do you really?"

Vlashandra says, "You should feel flattered, Magister."

Vlashandra nods at Raelee.

Dannore says, "I would rather have had the thunderstorm."

Speaking to Vlashandra, Pukk says, "You know if a imp doesn't like it...it must be great."

Speaking deeply to Roblar, Berost says, "Never trust a cake. Pie. Needsta be pie."

Speaking to Vlashandra, Raelee says, "... noted."

Vlashandra says, "She found your appearance appealing enough. You just lacked in other areas to..."

Vlashandra rubs her chin thoughtfully.

Speaking to Shinann, Pietra says, "Seems like your questions will never be answered."

Dwi heartily says, "Frosted pies are ceptable."

Speaking to Pietra, Leafiara confides, "Common, with her and the Hall..."

Pukk arranges his posture and features in a skillful imitation of Vlashandra.

Phomate says, "Iced fried pies."

Darcena exasperatedly blurts, "To what!"

Pietra leans over and whispers, "Pity, the quietest ones are usually the most perceptive, smartest ones."

Vlashandra says, "I live to serve."

Sparking Up

Speaking angrily to Vlashandra, Alisette asks, "Lacking? I have something to say about lacking. How about your lacking manners, and couth, and good judgment?"

Speaking to Leafiara, Pukk says, "Humans are hard to imitate."

Rzail says, "Whatever a couth is."

Alisette angrily says, "Magister Raelee has been nothing but professional in her duties."

Darcena mutters, "Does she live?"

Gutstorm drunkenly says, "A couth is sumfin ye sit on wif da cushin fings."

Speaking to Vlashandra, Alisette says, "But you, are...."

Speaking sharply to Alisette, Raelee says, "This is not necessary."

Vlashandra asks, "Yes? I am what?"

Vlashandra peers quizzically at Alisette.

Speaking defiantly to Vlashandra, Alisette says, "Laughable."

Vlashandra moves to stand in front of Alisette.

Firmly planting her feet equidistance apart, Alisette folds her arms and lifts her head in a defiant manner.

Vlashandra kneels down.

Phomate says, "Blunt at the very least."

Vlashandra faces Alisette.

Vlashandra asks, "Tell me, little person, what makes me laughable?"

Alisette gazes into Vlashandra's eyes.

Monthas says, "Cat fight."

Rzail says, "Perhaps the reason she does not show herself, is because she is a goddess of some pantheon, and we would all melt if she revealed her true identiy."

Speaking to Vlashandra, Darcena warns, "Careful."

Alisette says, "That you don't have the good sense to be yourself, that you must mimic."

Phomate says, "Gotcha der, shorty."

Alisette stares at Vlashandra.

Vlashandra chuckles.

(Darcena rests her hand on Alisette's shoulder.)

Speaking to Vlashandra, Pukk says, "Those boots...so unfashionable."
