OBSERVE is a roleplaying verb that allows the character to watchfully check out objects, self and others.

Usage:
    OBSERVE                            - Casually observe your surroundings
    OBSERVE {self}                     - Introspectively observe yourself
    OBSERVE {target}                   - Observe a target
    OBSERVE {style}                    - Observe in a certain style
    OBSERVE SET [option]               - Shows or sets the OBSERVE verb options available.
    OBSERVE NALFEIN  {target}          - Observe in a cultural style
    OBSERVE HALF-ELVEN {target}        - Observe in a racial style
    OBSERVE FOREST GNOME {target}      - Observe in a racial style
Where {style} can be one of the following Sylvan styles:
    AIR     DOUBT    ENEMY   ENVIRONMENT  ESCAPE
    GROUND  LIFE     QUICK   SKY          SLOW

Verb information for verb "OBSERVE":

People targets:
  STANDARD       - You take a moment to observe everything you can about (target).
  ARDENAI        - You level your gaze onto (target) with the full weight of your
                   measured and inscrutable regard.
  FOREST GNOME   - You observe (target) carefully, scrutinizing his/her facial
                   movements while he/she speaks.
  HALF-ELVEN
    FIRST PERSON - You gaze at (target) through shuttered eyes, thinking of long
                   years of mistreatment and rejection before you tighten your
                   lips and glance away.  It's a battle for another day.
    OTHERS       - Actor narrows his eyes and gives you a cold, hard look before
                   tightening his lips and glancing away.
  NALFEIN
    FIRST PERSON - You regard (target) carefully, taking in the details of his/her
                   clothing, countenance, and body language to determine how best
                   to handle him/her.
    OTHERS       - Actor regards you for a moment, then offers a polite smile.

Self target:
  STANDARD
    FIRST PERSON - You turn your thoughts inward, observing your opinion on society
                   and your place within it.
    OTHERS       - A look of introspection flits across Actor's face.
  ARDENAI
    INDOORS      - You try to gain your bearings while indoors, ascertaining
                   which way is north.
    OUTDOORS     - You turn your head into the direction of the wind and, with
                   your senses attuned, breathe in the unknown.
  FOREST GNOME   - You mouth a few words silently while trying to imitate speech
                   patterns.
  HALF-ELVEN     - You tighten your lips in a bitter half-smile.
  NALFEIN
    FIRST PERSON - You observe your true feelings but control yourself and display
                   only a polite smile.
    OTHERS       - Actor offers a polite smile.
  SYLVAN
    FIRST PERSON - You observe your own condition, expanding your awareness of
                   yourself as a part of your environment.
    OTHERS       - Actor becomes observantly introspective.

Object targets:
  STANDARD       - You take a moment to observe everything you can about (target).
  ARDENAI        - You level your gaze onto (target) with the full weight of your
                   measured and inscrutable regard.
  FOREST GNOME   - You pause for a moment and observe (target).
  HALF-ELVEN     - You narrow your eyes as you closely observe (target).
  NALFEIN
    FIRST PERSON - You consider how to best use (target) to your advantage.
    OTHERS       - Actor pauses, his eyes alighted on (target).

Creature targets:
  STANDARD       - You take a moment to observe everything you can about (target).
  ARDENAI        - You level your gaze onto (target) with the full weight of your
                   measured and inscrutable regard.
  FOREST GNOME   - You spend some time observing (target), familiarizing yourself
                   with his/her/its unique behavior and qualities.
  HALF-ELVEN
    FIRST PERSON - As you closely observe (target) you ponder years of rejection and
                   consider taking out all your frustrations on the sorry creature.
    OTHERS       - As Actor observes (target), he tightens his lips and gets a
                   feral glint in his eyes.
  NALFEIN
    DEAD         - You pause to consider the value of the life of (target).
    MONSTER      - You pause to consider your advantage against (target).
    OTHERS       - You pause to consider what value (target) could offer you.

No target:
  STANDARD       - You casually observe your surroundings.
  ARDENAI        - You sweep your gaze across the area, swiftly yet carefully
                   taking note of everything and everyone in turn.  Those details
                   advantageous to you are quickly cataloged while the rest are
                   summarily disregarded.
  FOREST GNOME
   OUTSIDE       - Crouching low to the ground, you scan your immediate
                   surroundings with a keen eye and a skilled hand.  Once convinced
                   there are no environmental traps, you slap your hand against
                    your thigh decisively.
   INSIDE        - With a keen eye, you scan your surroundings and are fairly
                   convinced that there are no environmental traps nearby.
  HALF-ELVEN     - You narrow your eyes and take in your surroundings as you are
                   overwhelmed with feelings of bitterness.
  NALFEIN
   ALONE:
    FIRST PERSON - Finding yourself alone, you take the opportunity to examine
                   your surroundings in detail.
    OTHERS       - Actor scans the surroundings with a keen eye.
   ONE PERSON:   - Finding yourself alone with Target, you hone in on him/her.
   SMALL CROWD:  - You observe the others in the area carefully, taking in the
                   details of their clothing, countenance, and body language to
                   determine how best to handle them.
   LARGE CROWD:  - You scan the crowd with a keen eye, taking note of the clothing,
                   countenance, and body language of key players to determine how
                   to use the situation to your advantage.
    OTHERS       - Actor pauses briefly, a polite smile on his face.
  SYLVAN         - You observe your surroundings carefully, taking in every last detail.

Styles: (Sylvan and Half-Sylvan only)
  DOUBT
    FIRST PERSON - Looking around, you can't help but feel that something is wrong
                   with your surroundings.
    OTHERS       - Actor looks around with concern.
  ENEMY
    FIRST PERSON - You look around, every sense on the alert for possible foes.
    OTHERS       - Actor surveys his surroundings warily.
  LIFE
    FIRST PERSON - You look around, taking note of all the signs of life nearby.
    W\ CREATURES - You look around, and can't help but focus on the creatures nearby.
    OTHERS       - Actor looks around, a serene expression on his face.
    W\ CREATURES - Actor looks around, a disturbed expression on his face.
  QUICK
    FIRST PERSON - You quickly scan your surroundings, taking keen note of the flora
                   and fauna in the area.
    OTHERS       - Actor glances around, his eyes falling briefly on each aspect of
                   his surroundings.
  SLOW
    FIRST PERSON - You observe your surroundings very slowly, not wanting to miss a
                   single detail.
    OTHERS       - Actor observes his surroundings with an almost excruciating slowness.
  GROUND
    OUTSIDE      - You observe the ground, searching for tracks.
    INSIDE       - You examine the ground in a futile search for tracks.
  SKY
    DAYTIME      - You look up at the sky, taking note of the position of the sun.
    NIGHTTIME    - Your eyes scan the heavens, reading stories in the stars.
    INSIDE       - You look up, but are unable to see the sky from in here.
  AIR
    FIRST PERSON - You observe every detail of the air, from its scent to its
                   direction to its ambient temperature.
    OTHERS       - Actor pauses in an observational trance.
  ENVIRONMENT
    FIRST PERSON
      W/ TREES   - You observe the comfortingly natural feel of your environment.
      W/O TREES  - You observe the details of your environment and do your best to adapt.
      IN TOWN    - You observe the inherently foreign nature of your environment.
    OTHERS
      W/ TREES   - Actor relaxes as he observes his environment.
      W/O TREES  - Actor observes his environment carefully.
      IN TOWN    - Actor appears uncomfortable as he observes his environment.
  ESCAPE
    FIRST PERSON - You look around for possible escape routes.
    OTHERS       - Actor looks around nervously, ready to bolt.
NOTE:  ONLY first person messaging is listed unless it differs substantially from other versions.  Wedding messaging will only work with your spouse, all other targets default to standard messaging.  Messaging without an option shown applies to all options.  Special scripts and areas may override listed messaging.
