A pearl is formed within certain mollusks as a response to an irritating parasite inside the shell. The mollusk secretes calcium, which forms layers of nacre over the parasite when the calcium carbonate and conchiolin mix, creating the pearl.[1]

Description:   Perfectly round, the frosty pale violet pearl is a smooth, crystalline gemstone formed by an ocean mollusk. The orb gleams in the ambient light, its frosted hues of its satiny smooth surface tinted by the pale violet sheen of its interior.

Description:   Ripples of silver and gold flow over the metallic black surface of the pearl, like illuminated waves upon a dark and lifeless world. Intermittent sparks of ruby, emerald and sapphire fade to grey as the pearl's tenebrous grasp swallows the light.

Description:   Perfectly round, the midnight blue pearl is a smooth, crystalline gemstone formed by an ocean mollusk. The orb gleams in the ambient light, its satiny smooth, midnight blue surface haloed by pale silvery fire that burns within its depths.

a pastel-hued winterbite pearl

Description:   Tiny, gilded circles wildly stipple a textured pattern across the smooth curvatures of the oversized pearl like effervescent bubbles rising in freshly poured spirits. The creamy white surface is starkly pale, but quickened by subtle blushes of petal pink, clover green, and sky blue tints.
