Phoen is the God of the Sun and Summer. He is consort to Oleani.

He is often considered the god of fatherhood, given his relationship with Oleani (the goddess of fertility), and as God of the Sun he represents the masculine side of fertility. The Sun God personifies manly power, to the point that he is often egotistical. There is more than one fable of Phoen causing harm rather than good through careless use of his great power.

The warmth and light associated with the sun, as well as the fact that they are life- nurturing qualities place Phoen in direct opposition to the Dark Gods. However, more often it is the Dark Gods regarding him as such that leads to conflict, rather than his desire to oppose them. He may also face them simply as a staunch ally of Oleani's.

Phoen's preferred humanoid manifestation is that of a man nearly identical to Ronan, but with golden hair that shines so brightly as to blind mortals. The clothes he wears are golden as well. In manner he is confident, even to the point of egotism. His symbol is a golden sunburst on a field of blue.

Shrines, Statuary, and Holy Places

Cleric Guilds

Displayed in the Prayer Rooms of each Cleric Guild is a state of Phoen. These prayer rooms are considered a holy shrine to multiple deities.

The facial features of this statue are nearly identical to those of Ronan. However, the bearing is that of a bold, forthright man whose confidence borders on arrogance. On his breast is the symbol of a sunburst.

K>touch Phoen
You reach out and touch the statue of Phoen.

Warm golden sunshine surrounds you, even indoors. With that sunshine comes a feeling of unshakable confidence and invulnerability, as if you could do anything you wanted without a fear of harm. The feeling fades slowly, leaving you invigorated.

Wehnimer's Landing Cleric Guild

Located in the Antechamber of Liabo is a table inset with disks depicting all of the Liabo arkati, including one for Phoen. This area is not considered a holy shrine.

A golden sunburst on a field of blue is painted on the crystal disk representing Phoen.

Kharam Dzu Cleric Guild

One of the Halls of Lessons in the Kharam Dzu Cleric Guild is dedicated to Phoen. The statue is identical to that in the other Cleric Guilds. It is considered a holy shrine.

[Cleric Guild, Hall of Lessons]
A ruddy glow filters down from high above, casting the room in a bright crimson light. To the north stands a large altar of thick blue glaes, its face set with a large stylized sun of pure gold. Behind the altar is a statue of a man whose etched features bespeak of absolute confidence, and his hair is crafted of the same gleaming metal as the sun. A radiating sunburst pattern is set into the floor, the wavily-rendered flames tinted a fiery golden scarlet by the glow above.

>look at altar
Carved from thick blue glaes that barely maintains the translucency associated with the metal, the altar is adorned with a brilliant golden sunburst upon its face. A book wrapped with intricate gold leaf lies atop the altar, its pure white pages open.

>look on altar
On the glaes altar you see an inlaid gold leaf book.

>read book
In the Common language, it reads:
"You need only look up on a warm summer's day to see the full glory of Phoen's realm."

Additional information

In the Griffin Sword Saga, a paladin of Phoen participated in the last series of battle. His name was Ablen.
