Quellbourne (Seoltang: Freezing Land) is the hooked land rimming Claedesbrim Bay in northwest Jaiman, which is where I.C.E. Age GemStone III was set in the Shadow World history. Colloquially, it is called the "Land of the Silver Mist", owing to its climate. The Bay is unusually warm for the latitude, especially in the winter months, leading to perpetual fog and mists. Kelfour's Landing was built on the southern side at the mouth of the Colewaether River, with the Kaldsfang Mountains reaching toward the east along the Blue Forest. The High Plateau is northward on the eastern side of the Bay, with the Seolfar Strake in the northeast and Galtoth with the Feorich isle toward the northwest. The Kral were located on a large central island in the middle of the Bay.

Quellbourne was a fallen kingdom that was destroyed by a cult of the Unlife two centuries before the founding of Kelfour's Landing. Its capital city Quellburn is a ruined citadel on the High Plateau, haunted by demons and other monsters left over from the betrayal of Zenon. Geographically it is roughly 300 miles by 300 miles, overlapping the forests of Lu'nak, as well as bordering Saralis, Xa'ar, Ja'miil Targ, and Mur Fostisyr. It was ruled by The Dark Path theocracy in the Wars of Dominion, and was a territory of the Empress Kadaena in the First Era.

Behind The Scenes

Both Quellbourne and Quellburn were shifted to the word "Elanith" in the history change. The word Elanith later came to refer to the continent itself, instead of the northwest corner at Darkstone Bay. This can lead to confusion as some very old stories and NPCs use Elanith to refer to the Darkstone Bay region and Jontara as the obsolete term for the continent. While the Seolfar Strake still exists as the Lysierian Hills, the islands corresponding to Feortoth and Galtoth do not exist on modern maps, even though the Zhaolmin monks are still seen and Galtoth has the modern name Keltoph.

The Kingdom of Elanith is a defunct political entity in the modern human history near River's Rest. It is remarkably similar to the citadel of Quellburn with its Council of Mages.

[Council War Room]
One wall of this room holds two large murals, one of the city defenses, and one of the shores of Maelstrom Bay, dotted with forts and settlements. A large sand table holds lead figurines in warlike poses, and six small wooden ships. The far wall is dominated by a huge stone fireplace. A third wall has a silver inlay of the seal of the Council of Mages.
