  • While speaking with the knight, a hooded figure in a white cloak is briefly spotted outside leaping down from a rooftop. Shortly afterward, a scream is heard along South Ring Road, where adventurers find a frightened woman next to a bloody corpse with a red rook tattoo on his neck. When questioned, the woman claims that the dead man made unwanted advances on her and that after she screamed, a figure of unknown gender and about human height appeared in a blur to kill her attacker.

Breshon Caulfield's Dinner Invitation

A cold breeze stirs through the area.

A town militiaman walks by, "...and I heard some Hendoran knight will come to the Mayor's office shortly to deliver some message..."

[travel time]

[Moot Hall, Mayor's Office]

At the varnished modwir door, a red bear skin rug stretches across the polished hardwood floor. Twin velnalin hide chairs face the Mayor's pine desk, while behind it sits an incurvated bone armchair. A great stag's head and a dark-framed sketch are mounted above a cobblestone fireplace set into the western wall. Refreshments are offered atop an oak bar beside a tall arched window. You also see a bone-ringed dart board, a large dog bed, a large detailed map and a basket of sticks.

Some voices in the crowd says, "There must have been a delay...maybe snow...maybe a baby..."

An armored Hendoran knight just arrived!

The knight bows and nods.

Speaking calmly to an armored Hendoran knight, Cruxophim greets, "Good evening, Sir Knight."

Cruxophim carefully clarifies, "Who is not Cryheart."

The Hendoran knight says, "Evening everyone."

The knight tries to join Cryheart's group, but looks confused. [As Cryheart was not here this evening.]

The Hendoran knight says, "I wanted to pass along the word that Lord Breshon Caulfield, son of the Baron of Bourth, arrived late last night to the Outpost."

Chaoswynd absently says, "That was rather fast.."

Pukk quietly says, "That was sooner than expected."

Ulkov says, "Didnt realize he was gonna be all that quick."

Arnylon says, "That was fast."

Goldstr exclaims, "Verra fast!"

The Hendoran knight says, "He came ahead of schedule. Understandable, given some of the undesirable elements in this town and region."

The Hendoran knight says, "He's been speaking with some of the Hendorans, and his small group of men he brought have been getting settled. He'd like to invite you all to an informal dinner tomorrow evening."

Speaking to an armored Hendoran knight, Maylan asks, "A formal dinner AND a formal dance all in one evening?"

The Hendoran knight says, "A dance? No."

Ysharra says, "The Faendryl Enclave is having their dinner tomorrow evening, as well."

Snow continues to gently fall from the sky, fluttering about outside the window of the office, silently blanketing the streets of town below. [AKA signaling that he's still there while figuring out how to not conflict with a player-run event]

Maylan says, "An informal dinner, a formal dance, and a very likely invasion in Icemule. I need three of me."

(OOC) Kenstrom's player whispers to the group, "What is going on tomorrow night? A DANCE!?!?"

(OOC) Chaoswynd's player whispers to the group, "Oh hell, noooo, you keep that diapered fool away from those poor people."

(OOC) Ysharra's player whispers to the group, "Faendryl Enclave dinner at 11pm, far as I know."

(OOC) Cruxophim's player whispers to the group, "Oh, right... the Faendryl thing! At 11pm EST I believe."

(OOC) Kenstrom's player whispers to the group, "Oh. 11pm EST is still a little before KST. I'll make sure it's after the event. :)."

(OOC) Kenstrom's player whispers to the group, "Or I'll crash the end haha."

Snow continues to fall from the sky out through the window, glistening, icy flakes floating all around.

Briefly visible amidst the falling snow outside, the silhoutte of a hooded figure can be seen, perched upon the edge of a nearby rooftop, as a curtain of snow falls down around him. The figure is shrouded by the cover of night, and he leaps from the rooftop, a white cloak billowing out as he drops out of sight. The night landscape is once more uninterrupted, speckled only with flakes of falling snow.

Speaking politely to an armored Hendoran knight, Cruxophim informs, "Do let Lord Caulfield know we'd be happy to accept the invitation."

The Hendoran knight says, "Of course. Good eve to you."

The Hendoran knight departs.

The Hero (...?) in White

Slightly muffled through the closed window, a woman's scream can be heard from somewhere in town!

[a search ensues...]

A scream is heard along South Ring Road.

[...and then we find the person]

[Wehnimer's, South Ring Rd.]

Many of the travellers through this part of town appear to be pilgrims, priests and monks. They travel to and fro, moving along the quiet road to the north. The hoot of an owl echoes from somewhere beyond the palisade wall. You also see a bloodied scruffy human corpse, a frightened young woman and a mound of snow.

>look corp

The corpse appears fresh, with swathes of blood staining his dark cloak. His nose is broken, an arm is twisted and snapped, and a thin cut along his stomach has left his entrails staining the ground and snow before him. A tiny red rook tattoo mars his neck.

The woman whimpers, holding her cloak tightly around her, shivering as she stares at the body.

The frightened young woman says, "He...he...he grabbed me and dragged me off..."

The frightened young woman says, "I told him no a dozen times last week....he....he was always half drunk..."

The frightened young woman says, "But...but tonight, he..."

The frightened young woman says, "It...it happened so fast...and now he's dead..."

Speaking gently to a frightened young woman, you ask, "What happened so fast?"

The frightened young woman says, "I didn't see him. He was a blur. Like...the snow..."

The frightened young woman says, "He grabbed his arm, twisted, it. I heard it snap, then....I wasn't sure if I was next..."

Speaking to a frightened young woman, Arnylon asks, "What'd he look like?"

Speaking to a frightened young woman, Zosozpage asks, "Was he wearing a white robe?"

The frightened young woman says, "I...I don't know...maybe a he...maybe a she...yes wore something white..."

The frightened young woman says, "Or maybe it was just a lot of snow...I...it happened so quickly..."

You thoughtfully muse, "So you think this man was killed because he had been trying to advance on you?"

Speaking quietly to a frightened young woman, Vulpecular asks, "Did you hear them speak a word?"

Speaking heartily to a frightened young woman, Chamorr asks, "Did you say he grabbed you first?"

The frightened young woman says, "Yes...he..." She points to the corpse, "He tried to hurt me. He was dragging me off, I barely got out a scream before he covered my mouth."

Speaking calmly to a frightened young woman, Zosozpage asks, "Did you see any distiguishing marks?"

Speaking slowly to a frightened young woman, Cruxophim ventures, "So, a white cloak... male or female?"

The frightened young woman says, "No, he was so quick, said nothing, it was all over so fast."

The frightened young woman says, "I do not know if male or female. Or even human!"

The frightened young woman says, "It was....it came out of no where! Like a ghost!"

Speaking to a frightened young woman, Kiske asks, "How tall was this person?"

The frightened young woman says, "I do not know how tall."

The frightened young woman says, "Human height maybe?"

Speaking to a frightened young woman, Kiske says, "That's what I was looking for, thank you."

The woman seems to regain a measure of composure. She looks down at the corpse, exhales, and spits on it.

The frightened young woman says, "You got what you deserved, and it's about damn time."

Speaking to a frightened young woman, Stormyrain asks, "It's about time? Has he been harassing women here for a long while?" [Stormy arrived late]

The frightened young woman says, "He has been harassing me for weeks."

Speaking to a frightened young woman, Bekke asks, "Where?"

Speaking to a frightened young woman, Maylan says, "Again I must implore you to simply speak up if this was an act of self defense. It's not against the law to simply defend yourself."

The frightened young woman says, "At the taverns, sometimes near the docks when we're out."

The frightened young woman says, "I did not kill him."

A faint pattern of white flame flickers into existence in mid-air before fading away a moment later.

Raelee suddenly fades into view.

Raelee gestures.

Raelee calls forth a coruscating torrent of sparks and white fire at Madmountan!

Raelee calls forth a coruscating torrent of sparks and white fire at Beldannon!

Raelee calls forth a coruscating torrent of sparks and white fire at Stormyrain!

Raelee calls forth a coruscating torrent of sparks and white fire at Drakehealius!

Raelee calls forth a coruscating torrent of sparks and white fire at Devara!

  • Devara drops dead at your feet!

Someone screams, "Murder by Raelee! Call the night watchman!"

Raelee calls forth a coruscating torrent of sparks and white fire at Rhayveign!

Raelee calls forth a coruscating torrent of sparks and white fire at Shadowthrall!

  • Shadowthrall drops dead at your feet!

A nearby townsman hurries off screaming, "Raelee has committed murder!"

Raelee calls forth a coruscating torrent of sparks and white fire at Kiske!

Raelee calls forth a coruscating torrent of sparks and white fire at Shinann!

Raelee positions herself to attack Goblyn.

Goblyn comes out of hiding.

Raelee calls forth a coruscating torrent of sparks and white fire at Thrassus!

Speaking to a frightened young woman, Stormyrain murmurs, "That's too ---"

The frightened young woman says, "But I'm glad someone helped me."

Raelee says, "... that... was not intentional."

(OOC) Raelee's player whispers to the group, "I hit the wrong macro. I am SO sorry. I will pay for all deeds."

Stormyrain says, "That's going to be a hefty fine."

A number of deputies charge in, led by the night watchman.

With great ease, the night watchman grabs Raelee and shackles her wrists.

"There you are! We don't tolerate your crimes in Wehnimer's Landing, no we don't! Come along now!" says the night watchman.

The night watchman then drags her off.

Speaking to a frightened young woman, Mynon asks, "Are you inclined to make a report with the local sheriff's office?"

The frightened young woman says, "Yes....yes I can provide information if you need."

Speaking to a frightened young woman, Ysharra says, "I am curious about one thing. I know you said you couldn't tell...but now that you've had a chance to calm down..."

Ysharra nods slowly to a frightened young woman.

Speaking to a frightened young woman, Ysharra asks, "Was it a woman?"

The frightened young woman says, "I do not know if it was a man or woman."

The frightened young woman says, "It moved so quick."

Speaking heartily to a frightened young woman, Chamorr says, "Did the figure speak at all."

The frightened young woman says, "It said nothing."

Speaking to a frightened young woman, Alasatia asks, "How about something helpful. Anything?"

The frightened young woman says, "I'm...I'm sorry...I wish I could say more."

The frightened young woman says, "I was so frightened, and then...it just appeared out of nowhere. Like some kind of specter."

Speaking to a frightened young woman, Kiske asks, "Anything else you remember? Change in temperature? A funny smell?"

The frightened young woman says, "No smell that I recall...I'm sorry..."

The frightened young woman says, "I need to get home...to sleep..."

Some town militia arrive and help escort the frightened woman home.

Report to the Watchman

The night watchman slowly saunters in.

The night watchman says, "So..."

The night watchman asks, "Who's the stiff?"

Speaking to the night watchman, Arnylon says, "We have two murderers in our midst it seems."

The night watchman says, "You murder my mood with your face."

The watchman nods to Arnylon.

Speaking to the night watchman, Arnylon says, "You're no great shake yourself."

The night watchman asks, "What happened here?"

Speaking to the night watchman, Kiske says, "That guy reportedly attacked a young woman, and was stopped by a being of approximately human height, wearing something white."

Mynon says, "A woman said that this man was trying to assault her, and that a being in white appeared, broke the man's arm, and then opened him up."

The night watchman says, "Ugh."

Speaking to the night watchman, Kiske says, "The girl wasn't sure if it was a man, a woman, or what race it was."

The night watchman says, "Like we need more murder in the streets."

Speaking melodically to the night watchman, Devara asks, "You had any problems with vigilantes at all lately?"

The night watchman says, "We'll get this body cleaned up."

Speaking to the night watchman, Bekke asks, "Would you perhaps be able to find Beldrin, and see if he could identify this corpse?"

The night watchman asks, "Vigilantes? Isn't that what you all are?"

The night watchman chuckles.

The night watchman says, "I'll have Beldrin look at the corpse, aye. But it's late."

The night watchman says, "So it'll need to be some other time Magister Bekke."

Speaking quietly to Goblyn, Pukk says, "Maybe we can keep the corpse and preserve it until next Ebons Gate."

The night watchman says, "No one is playing with the corpse."

The watchman does a whistle thing with his mouth and fingers, and some dogs bark nearby, waking up people in Shanty Town, but it also summons some town guards who cart off the corpse.

The night watchman just went east.

A quiet curtain of snow falls as the night grows silent.
