Subject: Macro-Transaction Items in the SimuCoin Store

We've got a pretty big item that's going to show up in the store here in the next day or so.

Actually, there will be two of them, but I'm giving everyone as much of a heads up as I can on what time they'll be posted so that everyone has a fair shot.

Fair warning that this will be the priciest thing we've sold in the store and the second priciest thing we've ever sold in general.

I'm looking at making them live in the SCoin store tomorrow night at around 8pm Eastern. If that changes, I'll let you know as soon as I know.

Here are the details:

Have you ever wanted to have your very own sprawling estate or creepy tower? Perhaps your tastes run more toward a quiet tree house or a farmstead. Well, then you are in luck! With this exclusive package, you can design your own little piece of the lands to fit your desires. Best of all, there is no monthly rent! You will also have a huge part in deciding what room in the lands will serve as the entry to your new home.

With this package, you get to design:

6 rooms with up to 5 props and/or portals per room
The key to the property
Custom day and night room text for each room
Main entry to the property (gate, trail, path, door, etc)
250 lbs of secure, lockable storage
5 custom food items, 3 custom drinks
1 trash can per room
Property related post name title

And your choice of ONE of the following: enchanting workshop; summoning chamber; shrine to any one deity; transporter item to whisk you to your home; or a fishing area stocked with fish and a cook fire

The property will come with one earthnode, placed in the room of your choice, and can make use of up to 3 pre-existing scripts, which will be discussed during the build process.

If design isn't your strong point, that's OK! Once we have an idea of what you are looking for, our staff will work to make your home come alive. Changes may need to be made in order to conform to our current QC standards, but we will do our best to make sure you are completely satisfied with the end result.

Multiple keys will come with the property, and more can be easily obtained if needed. There are, however, a few restrictions on location. Only those with full citizenship will be allowed to build within the town walls of any city in the Elven Nations. Also, if your account is inactive for more than six months, the property will be closed permanently.

Price will be set at 150,000 SCoins.

<<Any chance the following will be add-ons in the future? Enchanting workshop; summoning chamber; shrine to any one deity; transporter item to whisk you to your home; or a fishing area stocked with fish and a cook fire. I wouldn't mind all of them :)>>

There will absolutely and without a doubt be options for purchasing expansions down the road.

Happy Monday everyone. Let me clear up some questions and confusion. I understand there are a lot of worries with the SimuCoin venture, and even more so with what you can build.

DR actually tried this before us, and they've now sold 4 properties. Consider them the lab rats in this study. But they actually had a very positive response to this. I know not everyone is interested in this. But we have quite a number of private properties already in game that we continually offer in game with in-game currency.

When it comes to the design of these properties, a couple things you need to keep in mind. We need to stick to the normal regulations and lore that a town/area has. No building a castle in Ta'Illistim or a fortress in the Rift. In fact, anything that has any sort of special circumstance to enter the area or a skill check will be part of the no fly zone for these. If you decide to build one of these in a town, we need to get the town guru to sign off on these as well, so there may be a little back and forth.

This isn't to say you can't build the property of your dreams. We definitely want you to be able to be creative. But please don't try to shoot the moon, or build a moon, or a planet. Normal alteration guidelines will also apply to things in the structure. A good resource is talking to players who have built an MHO structure. We allow some really great things in them.

If you have anymore questions or concerns, keep it constructive, but keep asking them.

<Does the grounding room have to be within a certain area of FW?

If you want to use your FW transporter to take you to your property in place of the teleport item, it would be grounded to a room within your property.

<Are these considered one of the 6 rooms that we get to design or is it in addition to the 6 rooms, so 7 rooms total.

You get 6 rooms, total. If you select an enchanting workshop, that will be one of the 6. Same for the summoning chamber, shrine, or fishing area.

<Can (food/drinks) be placed in more than one room?

Sure! If you want to have 3 foods and 1 drink in one room and the remaining 2 foods and 1 drink in another, that's fine.

<portals as in entrance into the room? So the door? Shouldn't that be a given?

Robert pretty much nailed this one. Doors aren't necessary, but they certainly have their uses, so they would count as one of the props.

<is the list of available scripts ready to be released?

There isn't an actual list of scripts that can be used. There are probably well over a hundred scripts in the existing properties, some of which can be used. There are also other scripts around the lands that may fit the build of a new property, which I'd need to request permission from the script owner to use. There are also literally thousands of other scripts that may potentially be used. It's really more of a 'I want something like this in the property' and I suggest something we already have or dig around to try and find something close.

Subject: Re: Custom Properties

When GM Kynlee asked about Let It Ride to be included in private properties, I denied it. While the game in general is in favor of the house, a good player can do some damage. By damage, I mean win a lot of silvers. I'd like to also avoid the idea of someone setting up a script and working it all night, though gambling games are a little easier for us to track if they are being abused.

I wish we had more games that didn't rely on NEW silvers being generated. But games you could play with each other that you bet/bid against one another. I tried to do that with the gambling kits, by making some games where players can do all that. But it's hard to enforce it without systems in place. So it is completely dependent on players being fair with silvers. That's the whole purpose of the gambling kits to hold silvers. But again, you don't see it as "Joe has 1000 silvers in the kit, Bob has 1200 silvers in the kit, and The Dude has 9001 silvers in the kit." It would be a pain to do it that way. But maybe it's something I can explore one day.

And just to squash some rumors, LIR has not been touched since 2006. And even then, nothing about the odds have been touched. LIR really hasn't been updated since 2001/2003. So any rumors of it being tighter or changed are completely anecdotal. There are very few staff members who even have the clearance to touch the gambling games in GS, on strictly a coding level.

>>Re: Repossession

After some discussion, we've decided to do away with outright repossession if your account goes inactive after 6 months. The main thought process behind this was to safeguard the property. But buying this property will make you the permanent owner of the property, rent free. If you do go inactive, after 6 months we will close the property and safeguard any belongings in the property until you return. You may be required to notify us when you get back to re-open the property, but we'll explore ways to automate this. But again, we hope if you are purchasing this property that you'd like to stick around and play!

<Is the cross-realms teleporting unlimited? Are there any other restrictions to using the cross-realm teleporting function other than being in a town?

Ok, here's the dirt on the transporters!

  • It can only be activated in a room that is considered in town and allows teleporting out (think gold rings, 130, voln fog, etc).
  • It will transport the owner to a room that allows teleporting in.
  • This is a ONE way trip. It will only work to take you TO your property.
  • It goes on the home owner's key, and there's a check done to see who is using it. Only the owner can use it.
  • It only transports the owner. No groups.
  • There is light messaging, dark messaging, and the option for custom messaging. The owner gets to pick which one they want.
    • Light - A pinpoint of bluish-white light pierces the heavens and strikes you on the top of your head. The light pulses a few times as the shaft expands to fully envelop you. A brilliant flash of light explodes around you, causing you to blink several times. When your vision clears, you realize you are home.
    • Dark - Shadows in the immediate area detach from their sources, slithering over to coalesce at your feet. The writhing mass rises around you, momentarily enshrouding your form before sinking into the ground at your feet. Looking around, you realize you are home.
  • At this time, there is no cooldown on the transporter, but one may be added in the future if it is deemed necessary.
  • It will not work on Four Winds at this time, as it would cause an issue with the FW transporter. However, if a FW citizen wishes to build there, their FW transporter can be anchored to move them to their property.

Purchase Warning

<<SIMU is saying, "Give me your cash now, and Maybe you will get a property, but maybe we will decide not to sell more, so maybe you will have wasted 1200 bucks". >>

We are not going to say that we're not going to sell more. We want everyone who wants to buy one of these to have the opportunity to do so.

If anyone is that stressed out about "wasting" their money, my strong suggestion would be to wait until we put the properties up for sale and see how long they take to sell out. Who knows? We might put these up tonight and they might stay there for a day or two before someone grabs them. If you wake up tomorrow and there's still two available, that's your cue to buy your coins and grab one. If we put them up and the same thing happens in the GS store that happened in the DR store and they sell out quicker that it takes for me to refresh the page, then that's a good sign that you might want to hold off a little.

Honestly, even I don't know what's going to happen tonight. I certainly didn't expect the ones in DR to sell that quickly, but the second set took longer to sell (an hour, instead of less than 5 seconds). I would wager the next set will take even longer to sell and at some point, we'll get to the stage where we put them up and they sit there for several days or even weeks.

Bottom line is, if you feel like you're going to feel "cheated" that you didn't get one of the first two (of many) customized properties that we're selling, then this is me repeating, "Don't buy the SimuCoins to try to get one of these two initial properties!". We're not trying to cheat anyone, we're making sure we can deliver the purchased properties in a reasonable amount of time.

Now, one thing I want to also mention is that we're going to set up a form for people to fill out when they purchase one of these so they can submit their requests and ideas in a format that is intuitive and easy to navigate. We're also going to make a copy of that form (that doesn't actually get submitted anywhere) available to the general player population so that anyone who's interested can start putting their ideas down on "paper" and when you purchase your own property, you can just take what you've been working on and submit it on the real form.

Existing Private Property Owners

<Would it be possible to take ownership of their private property and let them build something from the ground up, assuming everyone was in agreement?

The short answer is no.

Longer answer, the custom properties sold in the SimuCoin store are bound to the winning account. The existing Private Properties are bound to character AND account. The owner of a pre-existing property has the right to forfeit ownership or otherwise cause it to be repossessed, but they can't just 'give' it to someone else. If the owner of a pre-existing property were to purchase a custom property through the SimuCoin Store on the same account, they would have to relinquish the pre-existing property.
