Stalking and Hiding is the primary skill considered with the stealth system.

Ranks and Training Costs

Type Square Semi Pure
Profession Rogue Warrior Monk Bard Paladin Ranger Cleric Empath Savant Sorcerer Wizard
Max Ranks Per Level 3 2 - 2 1 2 1 1 - 1 1
Training Point Cost 1/1 3/2 - 3/2 4/4 2/1 5/4 5/4 - 5/4 5/4

Professional bonuses in the ability to stalk and hide without detection are enormous. For example, a single-trained rogue at level 100 is significantly superior to a double-trained warrior. [1]

Stalk/Hide skill bonus adds directly to the roll. For example, if you have 50 ranks in Stalk/Hide, you're adding 150 to your roll vs having no ranks. Using the combat maneuver Vanish with 3x Stalk/Hide is always superior to regular Hiding with 2x/Stalk/Hide, all else equal.

Racial bonuses and Discipline also factor into hiding.
