Bubble flares are a type of specialty flare which bestows damage padding to the player's armor when the flare is activated. It can be applied to weapons, runestaves, or UAC gear. The padding effect will last 60 seconds but can be refreshed if the weapon were to flare again within that time window. They were released at Ebon Gate 2008 by the merchant Slawgruf and were described as "being similar to stone skin," and were also available at Return to Coraesine Field. There are two kinds:

  • "Normal" Bubble Flares — Heavy Damage Padding
  • "Super" or "Phenomenal" Bubble Flares — Phenomenal Damage Padding

Messaging

The messaging on the activation differs slightly between the two levels, and is one way to distinguish them.

Super Bubble Flares

A zesting effect:

As you rub your axe, it gives off a high-pitched sound and begins to rapidly vibrate for a moment.
