Step 20

The Symbol of Disruption, governed by Lord Charl, is obtained at the twentieth step of the Order of Voln. Activating this symbol will cause the player and all group members to be surrounded by a churning spectral aura. This aura is anathema to non-corporeal undead. Any non-corporeal undead struck while under this symbol's effect will suffer a temporary disruption in their link to the corporeal plane. It will be dealt roundtime based on the critical rank of the attack and will suffer a temporary penalty to AS/DS, CS/TD, UAF/UDF and CMAN while disrupted.

Disruptions are not stackable or refreshable on an individual creature, though once the first disruption has run its course, the creature may be disrupted again.

Syntax

Symbol of Disruption (not case sensitive, can be abbreviated)

Duration

Each use has a duration of 10 seconds per voln rank. For a master the duration is 4:20 minutes. This symbol's duration is also stackable up to 250 minutes.

Messaging

Initial cast:

sym of disruption
A churning spectral aura surrounds you.

Attack activation and disruption penalty:

In the initial attack the creature falls under the symbol's effect. Once disrupted the subsequent attack will include the penalty. In this example a reduced TD.

You gesture at a wraith.

A scintillating, blue-white aura encompasses a wraith.
CS: +205 - TD: +45 + CvA: +8 + d100: +36 == +204
Warding failed!
Large wisps of blue-white energy lash out at a wraith, cauterizing the impact marks on the skin in an instant. The wraith is hit for 45 points of damage!
... 30 points of damage!
Hard blow strikes deep into the right eye socket.
Within moments the eyeball pops back out!

The wraith writhes as its spectral form bends and warps uncontrollably!
You gesture at a wraith.

A scintillating, blue-white aura encompasses a wraith.
CS: +205 - TD: +20 + CvA: +8 + d100: +60 == +253
Warding failed!
A massive beam of blue-white energy engulfs a wraith in a luminous column of light!
The wraith is hit for 45 points of damage!
... 25 points of damage!
Attack whistles right through the chest!

It's like fighting fog!

Wearing off creature:

A wraith's spectral form restabilizes.

Wearing off member/group:

The churning spectral aura suddenly vanishes from around you.

Favor Cost

The base favor cost for Symbol of Disruption is dependent on the member's level (not member's rank). See Table for specific examples.

Use the base cost when hunting solo. The cost escalates with additional group members.

Group Formula

Base Cost + ((Base Cost/3) × (Group members - 1))

Example

The base cost for a level 40 character is 81. With a four member group the favor cost is:

81 + ((81 ÷ 3) × (4 - 1)) = 162

Favor Required to Obtain Symbol of Disruption

Formula: 1900 + (( level2 × 35) ÷ 3 )

Ex. level 15 member: 1900 + ((15 × 15 × 35) ÷ 3) = 4525 favor

Ex. level 20 member: 1900 + ((20 × 20 × 35) ÷ 3) = 6566 favor

Monk's Teaching and Instruction Highlights

  • Charl can be frightening, but if you call upon his daughter, Niima, she may temper his anger
  • Charl has taught us how to disrupt the ethereal bodies of the non-corporeal undead, such that we may more easily combat them.
