The Tempest River is one of the main rivers in the western half of the continent of Elanthia.
At its mouth is located the town of River's Rest and it flows as deep inland as Waterford and the Barony of Bourth. Prior to 5018, the Tempest River was a major trade route, but this came to an end with the Great Cataclysm which created the Tempest Falls east of River's Rest when it forced the ground upwards of thirty feet and made passage by boat impossible. Prior to the earthquake, Ketain of the Scars, an infamous pirate of River's Rest, gained renown for sailing up the Tempest to raid the Hendoran city of Waterford.
