Summary

 • Grishom Stone comes to the North Gate to hear Breshon's response to his offer to heal Larsya. Breshon, having earlier told the crowd that Prax is confident in the ability of himself and others gathered to heal her, tells Grishom the answer is no.
 • Grishom expresses respect for Breshon's presence and bravery, but tells him that he should remember this day and that "what's to come" at the time of Grishom's choosing could have been avoided. Breshon tells him that his threats mean nothing; Grishom tells him that the wisdom to make better decisions will come in time, "lessons learned from experience and tragedy."
 • After Grishom leaves the area, a militia runner delivers a note to Captain Stormyrain, who reports that krolvin have been spotted, with some battered ships and no demons, and could arrive at the Landing on Feastday night. Breshon says he'll alert Prax to have his ship at the ready.

Breshon's Decision

[Town Square Central]

This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer's Landing. The impromptu shops of the bazaar are clustered around this central gathering place, where townsfolk, travellers, and adventurers meet to talk, conspire or raise expeditions to the far-flung reaches of Elanith. At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep. You also see some stone benches with some stuff on it and an herbal remedy donation bin.

In the midst of the falling of falling rain and the dark of night, a mote of blood red light appears in the distance.

[Over the amunet, Breshon takes notice of the weather...]

Breshon: "Good evening all."

As the rain continues its downpour from the sky, the red glow expands in the distance, as if coming closer.

Breshon: "My men have noticed the night. What are we to expect?"

Breshon: "The light...I should say."

Lylia: "Grishom Stone will be expecting an answer from you, no doubt, on how to proceed with Larsya's cure."

Breshon: "I see."

Breshon: "I shall come to your gates."

[Adventures and Landing defenders alike proceed to the North Gate.]

[Wehnimer's, Outside Gate]

Citizens, merchants and assorted dregs of society jostle against you before the great wooden gates of Wehnimer's Landing. Harried guards and militiamen try to keep the chaos to a minimum, but it is hard to keep track of those entering, let alone leaving, this large trading post. A dirt path encircling the wooden palisade of the town leads east and southwest. Nailed prominently to the wooden wall beside the gate is a sign you really should read. You also see a reinforced wooden defense tower and the Wayside inn.

Moving up from the grasslands, severel feet in front of some armored Bourthian and Hendoran soldiers, Lord Breshon approaches. The rain has soaked his grey fur-lined cloak, and the black yew of the bow slung over his shoulder glistens from the moisture. He bows as he arrives.

Breshon says, "Good evening everyone."

Breshon bows.

Breshon asks, "So Grishom comes this night, eh?"

Lylia says, "Your decision, ultimately. I am sure you have considered it carefully."

Breshon says, "I have."

Breshon says, "I've spoken at great length with Praxopius the other evening, after your ascent to the Reach."

Breshon says, "He is confident, between his resources, and those of many here this night..."

Breshon says, "We will find a cure for Larsya."

Breshon says, "On our own."

Breshon says, "Without the easy aid of the likes of Grishom."

Breshon asks, "Shall I be here, to deliver my statement?"

Breshon peers quizzically at Lylia.

Chamorr heartily says, "I wonder how ol Stone is gonna take the disappointment."

Xorus admits, "I do not know what he will do if refused."

Breshon says, "I do not suspect he is a man to take no lightly, based on what I have heard."

Breshon asks, "Are these people in danger, should I be here and deliver my message?"

Breshon peers quizzically at Lylia.

Breshon asks, "Shall I take myself elsewhere?"

Clairette asks, "I thought Grishom was turned to stone and cast away into a thousand pieces?"

Speaking to Breshon, Lylia says, "The danger is outside the gates. It is possible he could be wrathful and strike a great many people down -- but I would like to think he would be less uncivil than that."

Someone in the crowd chuckles at Clairette, "...that was sooo 5110!"

Breshon leans to his left slightly.

Breshon looks back to the south, at the Outpost, pausing for a moment in concern.

Shinann asks, "Who is watching your sister?"

Breshon says, "Praxopius is with her currently, and my most trusted men."

Speaking to Breshon, Lylia says, "I leave it up to you."

Grishom and Breshon Face to Face

The blood red light glow brightens, but is lower now, radiating out from the depths of Lower Dragonsclaw, like ribbons of sanguine energy snaking their way through the dark forest. Emerging from the woods comes a human wreathed in a deep red robe and thin tendrils of shadows. His very robes shift like fluid...like blood. To his side, floating in the air, is a red orb that seems to churn and twist. Grishom's sea blue eyes sparkle, and his cheeks spread into a grin as he approaches.

Breshon slowly empties his lungs.

Breshon nods at Grishom.

Grishom bows to Breshon.

Grishom says, "Lord Breshon, Son of Bourth. It is a pleasure to meet you face to face."

Grishom says, "Carried words can only do so much justice."

Grishom grins wickedly.

Breshon says, "I could not agree more. Grishom."

Grishom grins at Cruxophim.

Breshon says, "Which is why, it is important for you to hear my answer."

Grishom cocks his head.

Breshon says, "No."

Grishom looks onward for a brief moment, the stretch of his grin shrinking, but for just a split second. Then he smiles wider.

Balley shivers.

Grishom says, "I see."

Breshon says, "I believe that concludes our business then."

Grishom asks, "You believe so?"

Grishom nods at Thrassus.

Merilia studies Grishom as she prepares to sketch.

Grishom says, "I see."

Cruxophim removes a small stretched skin easel with a sinew-lashed bone frame from in his shadow cloak.

Cruxophim anxiously unfolds three wooden legs that lay flat against the back of his stretched skin easel. For extra support, he lowers a bracing bar and locks it into place between the two front legs.

Cruxophim carefully places his stretched skin easel on the ground.

Cruxophim reaches inside one of the mesh veil iron pouches hanging from his black harness and grabs a slender bone-handled paintbrush with waern fur bristles.

Speaking politely to Grishom, Cruxophim muses, "May I?"

Cruxophim turns his stretched skin easel to face Grishom.

Grishom strikes a painting-perfect pose for Cruxophim!

Grishom says, "We are truly creations of wonder and of blessed...for such independent thoughts, and the freedom of choice."

Balley nods at Grishom.

Grishom says, "We are not subject to the will of the Arkati...or any man, truly."

Xorus's column-shaped urnon suddenly flattens into a square disk in his palm and is completely still for a few moments. Without warning, the sharp peak of a pyramid suddenly rises up out of the disk and holds the form!

Xorus tucks a tiny piece of pyramid-shaped urnon into a small pocket inside of his black leather coat.

Xorus says, "Beyond the Arkati."

Grishom says, "One would argue, we are capable of being beyond..."

Grishom nods at Xorus.

Grishom says, "Precisely."

Grishom says, "Every action, every choice...creates a new path."

Balley nods at Grishom.

Merilia adds more shadowing around the figure of Lord Grishom in the portrait, making the sketch take on more of a life-like appearance.

Grishom says, "With each clearing of a path, there is destruction."

Grishom says, "The clearing of trees...the crushing of grass and ground..."

Grishom asks, "I am sure, as a child of Bourth, you understand?"

Grishom peers quizzically at Breshon.

Breshon squints.

Grishom moves to stand in front of Breshon.

Grishom says, "I respect your presence here tonight young Lord."

Speaking softly to Dergoatean, Balley says, "And every choice and decision has consequences."

Grishom says, "Many in your Empire, double your age, would lack the spine to do so."

Grishom says, "In fact, many here barely stand without breaking down themselves in worry."

Grishom glances at Balley.

Grishom says, "When there is no need for it."

Balley gulps.

Adding a few deeper shadows, Merilia brings life to the figure of Lord Grishom in the sketch rapidly taking on life beneath the charcoal's point.

Raelee squints at a rough dark azure stone.

Grishom grins at Raelee.

Raelee squints at Grishom.

Cruxophim shakes his articulated gauntlets at a small stretched skin easel with a sinew-lashed bone frame, splattering it with blood.

Cruxophim dabs his paintbrush gently against the easel's palette of paint before he continues painting.

Grishom says, "But even a decision freely made...does not make it absent of mistakes."

Breshon says, "I do not see it as such."

Grishom says, "Yet."

Grishom says, "Young lord. Yet."

Merilia fills in some shading along the cheek in her portrait of Lord Grishom, accenting the contrast between the flesh tone and the darker background.

Cruxophim removes a male human portrait from on a small stretched skin easel with a sinew-lashed bone frame.

Cruxophim raises his human portrait proudly, displaying it for you to see.

Hazy white-gold sunbeams streak down from a backdrop of watery pale blue hues that blend into ivory-colored clouds hovering above the rolling green hills of a lush countryside. Perched upon a stately rock in the foreground, a human male with deep sea blue eyes lifts the corners of his mouth in an enigmatic smile, his legs crossed in a casual pose while his hands rest atop each other in his lap.

Cruxophim nods with satisfaction to a male human portrait.

Cruxophim affably jests, "See? Harmless."

Grishom smirks at Cruxophim.

Cruxophim flashes a quick grin at Grishom.

Cruxophim turns his stretched skin easel to face Grishom.

Merilia quickly adds a few shadows to one area of the portrait of Lord Grishom, nodding then in apparent satisfaction.

Grishom says, "Remember this day, and this opportunity."

Grishom says, "I came before you, before all of you, and truly presented an offering with no cost or sacrifice to you."

Grishom says, "Yes, you would do well to remember this day. Recall it, vividly. Because what is to come, at the time of my choosing, could have been avoided."

Grishom says, "We all have choices Lord Breshon."

Breshon says, "My sister is not a pawn, or some object for you to threaten me with."

Adding a few deeper shadows, Merilia brings life to the figure of Lord Grishom in the sketch rapidly taking on life beneath the charcoal's point.

Breshon says, "You should get used to not getting your way."

Breshon says, "And your threats, they do nothing here. To me, to the rest."

Grishom grins.

Cruxophim turns his stretched skin easel to face Grishom.

Grishom strikes a painting-perfect pose for Cruxophim!

Merilia fills in some shading along the cheek in her portrait of Lord Grishom, accenting the contrast between the flesh tone and the darker background.

Grishom frowns.

Grishom says, "I will take no pleasure in what will come."

Grishom rubs his chin thoughtfully.

Grishom says, "No...that is most certainly a lie."

Grishom chuckles.

Grishom grins wickedly.

Merilia fills in some shading along the cheek in her portrait of Lord Grishom, accenting the contrast between the flesh tone and the darker background.

Grishom nods at Stormyrain.

Stormyrain gives a sidelong glance at Grishom.

Grishom says, "Regardless, I respect your bravery."

Grishom nods at Breshon.

Merilia roughs in some forms behind the central figure in her portrait of Lord Grishom.

Grishom says, "The wisdom to make better decisions will come in time. Lessons learned from experience and tragedy."

Grishom bows.

Grishom turns around.

Grishom slowly walks off into the depths of the woods, the glow of the red orb bathing him in a sanguine hue. Slowly, the light grows further and further away, until Grishom and the blood orb and its light are gone entirely.

Breshon's Concerns

Breshon slowly empties his lungs.

Breshon looks down at his trousers.

Breshon slowly empties his lungs.

Merilia rubs the charcoal across the page, making a scratchy sound as she works on a portrait of Lord Grishom.

Breshon trembles.

Breshon says, "Yes...that was nerve wracking."

Speaking surreptitiously to Breshon, Cruxophim inquires, "Do you feel you made the right choice?"

Breshon says, "I am confident in my choice."

Speaking thoughtfully to Breshon, Cruxophim wonders, "Even if there are consequences?"

Breshon says, "We will see my sister healed, our own way."

Breshon says, "There are always consequences."

Speaking to Breshon, Xorus says, "Grishom intends great harm one way or another. I am confident Praxopius, I, and others can do this without him."

Breshon nods at Xorus.

Breshon says, "Precisely."

Cruxophim removes a heroic human male portrait from on a small stretched skin easel with a sinew-lashed bone frame.

Cruxophim raises his human male portrait proudly, displaying it for you to see.

Standing valiantly in the foreground of the painting with his foot planted atop a deceased creature is the image of a human man gazing across an open field, his clenched fist raised high above his head. Grey swirls are lightly sketched across an open black sky, and a full moon's faint outline is scarcely visible beneath the veil of ominous-looking clouds.

Breshon says, "If we bend to such demands now, then others will follow."

Adding a few deeper shadows, Merilia brings life to the figure of Lord Grishom in the sketch rapidly taking on life beneath the charcoal's point.

Inbound Krolvin

A militia runner arrives, hands a note to Stormyrain, then takes off.

Breshon slowly empties his lungs.

Stormyrain blinks.

Speaking to Breshon, Zosopage says, "Judging by his reaction he is losing something he was looking forward to getting but is now mad that he can't get it. I'd say you made the right choice."

Breshon says, "I should return for the night. Some tea, and sleep."

Stormyrain slowly empties her lungs.

Merilia roughs in some forms behind the central figure in her portrait of Lord Grishom.

Breshon agrees with Zosopage.

Stormyrain says, "The note says "Krolvin spotted. No demons, some ships in battered shape. Could arrive to the Landing Feastday night."

Leafiara curiously asks, "They're arriving early?"

Breshon asks, "Krol?"

Speaking to Leafiara, Stormyrain says, "That's what the note says."

Leafiara nods slowly at Stormyrain.

Stormyrain nods at Breshon.

Speaking to Breshon, Stormyrain says, "Yes."

Speaking to Stormyrain, Lylia says, "Feastday evening? Yes, if they are battered already, then we shall break them."

Breshon says, "I will alert Prax. He will make sure his ship is ready."

Breshon says, "He told me of your efforts at the docks."

Breshon nods at Lylia.

Breshon says, "If we can be of any aid, in the ship building, you only need to ask."

Breshon nods at Lylia.

Breshon bows.

Breshon says, "Goodnight everyone...and thank you."

Evician offers Breshon a cup of honeyed mint tea.

Speaking to Breshon, Ysharra says, "Don't forget the whiskey."

Breshon accepts Evician's honeyed mint tea.

Breshon nods at Ysharra.

Speaking to Breshon, Ysharra says, "Or you'll never sleep."

Lord Breshon just went southwest.
