Despite the best efforts of the pair of pierced iron braziers limning the entrance of this narrow alcove, shadows cling to the ironwood bookshelves tucked into its back corners. stained handwritten note

In the Common language, it reads:
The lorgnettes on top of the bookshelves are less ornate than the ones inside, but both function the same.
The stuff in the footlocker opens and closes a little more fancier than usual. Except the haversack, I just thought it was pretty.
Absolutely none of the goods in this alcove were filched, stolen, or misappropriated. It's not my fault if people leave their luggage lying around unattended for long or short periods of time. They ought to know better!
If you find me in here, I might show you how to make the lorgnettes do more than they already do.

Gemysteries

[Gemysteries - 28407]
At the center of this small alcove sits a sizeable boulder, its surface craggy and dark, with a silver-limbed jewelry tree perched atop it. The twining roots of the tree spiral and twist down to embrace the boulder in such a way that belies the fact that silver is inanimate rather than a living substance. From high above, moonlight falls in multihued shafts across the tree, tinged in silvery jewel-toned hues by the stained glass window.

The floor in this section of the shop glitters mutely in a rainbow of hues beneath the moonlight filtering in through the small, plain window seated high in the wall above. What appears to be sand scratches underfoot, though the reflective quality and coloring betrays the grains as gem dust instead.
