Summary

  • The Hall of Mages arrives at the outpost, where Magister Cordarius greets Magister [[::Raelee_Svala|Raelee]] and introduces himself to the gathered crowd amidst some flirting with [[::Ysharra_Nagorn|Ysharra]]. He's come to observe the blight, sent by Grand Magister Octaven, and will be working for Raelee.
  • His work begins tonight, as he joins Mayor Lylia to travel to the foothills of Zeltoph--amidst some flirting with her and offering her a green apple. He mentions that he's brought a whole orchard and declines a tart from Goldstr, saying he's had his fill of those, but then walks those back as poor jests. Leifa tells him not to be wasteful or casual with his comments when the people could use food, so Cordarius agrees and says he can help and has had lovely gardens in the past.
  • Cordarius identifies the foothills as a good choke point--or, as Leafiara explains, a place to cut off the spread of the blight. (And this amidst him flirting with her now.) Cordarius says he's there to keep is from spreading south through people, so Ysharra says he's going to stop people from fleeing in desperation; he says that's an ugly way to put it.
  • Cordarius infuses a dull black shard with silver bolts and gives it to Raelee, saying not to drop it or we'll die--though he's just kidding. Raelee also infuses it until it breaks apart and releases a glowing web of silver energy into the area, and Cordarius says to move to see if it worked, and if not we all die--though he's just kidding. The magic worked, creating air barriers that slow movement through the area.
  • He explains that over the next few days quarters will be set up in the area for those who try to pass and show infection. He says it's not something they want to see, but raises the possibility of what if infected people move south to Vornavis, Mestanir, or further. Leifa asks what becomes of the detained; Cordarius says they'll help them as they can, study them, and turn them back if needed.
  • Lylia, Ysharra, and Leafi raise questions of whether the blight has been observed spreading and in what ways, but Cordarius says only that they're good questions we hope we can all learn together. For now, though, those infected won't physically move south.
  • Cordarius says the Hall has work to do, with crates to unload, coffins to roll out, and tents to set up--clarifying that they're the coffins to lock away bad people. Dame Evia asks if there'll be sufficient food and water or if something's needed; Cordarius says he'll keep her posted if something's needed. Leafi asks him if he brought the coffin Thadston was requesting; he says yes. After some last jokes with the crowd, he leaves for the night.

Hall Arrival

[Town Square Central]

This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer's Landing. The impromptu shops of the bazaar are clustered around this central gathering place, where townsfolk, travellers, and adventurers meet to talk, conspire or raise expeditions to the far-flung reaches of Elanith. At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep. You also see an herbal remedy donation bin and some stone benches with some stuff on it.

Also here: Event Planner Leafiara, Kiinu, Quietine who is sitting, Great Lord Demicone, Mayor Lylia, Evinescence, Xylax, Fixy, Elyndiria, Avalera, Yanwyn, Xorus, Guarrin, Berost, Cymbia, Aderion who is sitting, Sir Mynon, Lord Gesaril, Sir Cryheart, Diamondelille, Pukk, Dame Evia, Lord Chamorr, Lyrna, Sofal, Chaoswynd, Zosopage, Gypsy Scribe Balley, Soneiken, Lord Lycurgus, Bernadette, Magister Raelee, Hygar

The sky begins to fill with huge clouds, dark and grey on the bottom, pale and white atop, their puffy crowns ascending toward the heavens.

Evia says, "Oh my golly it might rain."

Cryheart says, "Seems so."

Pukk recites quietly:

"Everybody Join Cryheart!"

Zosopage says, "Here comes the rain."

Shinann just went west.

The sound of buzzing flies can be heard nearby.

Pukk yells, "Shinann, join Cryheart!"

Evia says, "Bzzt."

Speaking quietly to Raelee, Pukk exclaims, "No group for you!"

Speaking in Faendryl, Lylia says something you don't understand.

Speaking to Pukk, Raelee says, "For the best."

Kiinu asks, "Rain, huh?"

Speaking quietly to Raelee, Pukk exclaims, "Oh, how can I ever turn down that smile...go ahead and join up!"

Speaking to Pukk, Raelee says, "No."

Berost deeply asks, "Well, wit tha rain; and them mages on the way. Ya never know which bring which. Ya know?"

Speaking quietly to Raelee, Pukk exclaims, "You mouth said no, your mind said no, but your hair said maybe and your shoes said yes!"

>look rae

You see Magister Raelee Svala the Scholar of the Hall of Mages.

She appears to be a Human from Chastonia.

She is shorter than average and has a small-boned build. She appears to have come of age. She has distant, gold-flecked snow white eyes and milky white skin. She has long, loosely ringleted copper red hair. She has a small, tangled burn mark on her neck. She has a slender, porcelain-like countenance, made more striking by the rounded angles of her face.

She has a quartet of tiny glyphs tattooed vertically along the inside of her left forearm, a pale pattern of gold lines and sigils tattooed up her right arm, a complex gold circular tattoo on the back of her right hand, and an inky black sigil on her wrist.

She is in good shape.

She is wearing a complicated gold-wired earcuff, a gold latticework choker dangling a pale teardrop smoky topaz, a small blonde leather neck pouch, a deeply hooded white linen robe, a sleeveless dove grey linen dress with a simple pattern of ivory beading tracing the neckline, an arm-length leather casting gauntlet, a pair of pale linen handwraps, a sunstone-set bronze and gold band, a blue-jeweled heavy gold ring, and some calf-laced blonde leather sandals.

Speaking to Pukk, Raelee repeats, "No."

Kiinu says, "You are right about that."

Speaking quietly to Raelee, Pukk says, "That is a weird way of saying yes."

Speaking surprisedly to Raelee, Leafiara says, "Come to think of it, you -are- dressed differently than normal. ...I think."

Deatrys: "A fine storm at Rone's Landing tonight."

Speaking quietly to Leafiara, Pukk says, "It's all in the sandals."

Leafiara extends her leg and slowly rotating her ankle, models a pair of cherry-tinged vanilla sandals beaded with cookie-shaped pearls.

Cryheart asks, "Hae to be appropriate for the Hall of Mages, Magister?"

Speaking to Cryheart, Raelee says, "... I have not dressed for the evening."

Speaking pointedly to Cryheart, Raelee says, "And had I done so, I might have bothered with the blue robes."

Speaking to Leafiara, Gutstorm asks, "Ice cream shandalsh?"

Speaking to Leafiara, Chaoswynd asks, "What do you see that's different?"

Speaking amusedly to Gutstorm, Leafiara says, "No, cookies."

Speaking tentatively to Chaoswynd, Leafiara asks, "...doesn't she normally wear boots?"

Speaking to Raelee, Chaoswynd asks, "Do you?"

Lyrna says, "Made it this far, we'll see if I can make it a bit longer."

Speaking to Chaoswynd, Leafiara assures, "These are the things a cobbler wonders!"

Speaking to Chaoswynd, Raelee says, "Dependent upon the weather. Summer is still lingering."

Speaking to Leafiara, Chaoswynd says, "Yes, well, I'm not as obsessed with footwear as you are."

Speaking sagely to Chaoswynd, Leafiara counters, "Hobby."

Speaking to Leafiara, Chaoswynd says, "Addiction."

Evia says, "In better days we would be approaching harvest times before long."

Lyrna asks, "Really, can't it be both?"

Speaking to Leafiara, Chaoswynd says, "Compulsion."

Speaking greedily to Chaoswynd, Leafiara says, "Profitable venture."

Speaking to Razanetika, Gutstorm says, "I got 2 shilber on Leafi."

Speaking to Leafiara, Chaoswynd asks, "Yes, certainly. How many hundreds of thousands of silvers have you spent on dyes now?"

Lylia says, "I have no time for prating about shoes. Or for listening to it."

Mayor Lylia just went northwest.

Speaking softly to Gutstorm, Razanetika exclaims, "10 silvers on Leafi!"

Speaking bemusedly to Pukk, Leafiara asks, "Geez, was that all it would take?"

Some faint silver lights flicker in the distance.

Speaking to Chaoswynd, Leafiara muses, "Hmm, maybe a few hundred thousand? But I've made much more from commissions."

Sofal says, "Was worth it to see the mayor storm off."

Sir Cryheart's group just went east.

[Town Square, East]

Here in the center of a broad plaza near the commercial area of the bazaar stands the impressive facade of the slate-roofed Moot Hall, where the citizens of Wehnimer's Landing hold various official, religious and social functions. Facing the square are some of the town's more prosperous shops, still doing business with the many customers who still frequent the streets at night. You also see a large purple wooden barrel, a bone-framed bulletin board and a polished bleakstone statue.

Also here: Guarrin, Berost, Diamondelille, Event Planner Leafiara, Pukk, Dame Evia, Lyrna, Sofal, Chaoswynd, Zosopage, Soneiken, Lord Lycurgus, Bernadette, Kiinu, Great Lord Gutstorm, Razanetika, Sir Cryheart

Speaking quietly to a polished bleakstone statue, Pukk exclaims, "Not the Mayor!"

Speaking to Chamorr, Gutstorm says, "You late....bub."

Chamorr heartily says, "I been here."

Speaking to Lyrna, Gutstorm exclaims, "DONT FALL SHNEEP!"

Leafiara offhandedly says, "Here they come..."

Cryheart says, "Hmmm."

[trave]

[Wehnimer's, Outside Gate]

Citizens, merchants and assorted dregs of society jostle against you before the great wooden gates of Wehnimer's Landing. Harried guards and militiamen try to keep the chaos to a minimum, but it is hard to keep track of those entering, let alone leaving, this large trading post. A dirt path encircling the wooden palisade of the town leads east and southwest. Nailed prominently to the wooden wall beside the gate is a sign you really should read. You also see the Wayside inn and a reinforced wooden defense tower.

Also here: Guarrin, Berost, Diamondelille, Event Planner Leafiara, Pukk, Dame Evia, Lyrna, Sofal, Chaoswynd, Zosopage, Soneiken, Lord Lycurgus, Bernadette, Great Lord Gutstorm, Razanetika, Lord Chamorr, Leifa, Sir Cryheart, Taellia, Magister Raelee, Mayor Lylia

Evia says, "My knee hurts when it gets stormy."

Speaking to Raelee, Lylia asks, "Is there nothing that is not a jest?"

Speaking quietly to Lylia, Raelee says, "You are likely correct."

Chamorr heartily says, "Could we whack them and jus say nope ain't seen them."

Lylia hollowly says, "I am. I do not enjoy being correct sometimes."

Speaking to Chamorr, Soneiken says, "Dat would be fun."

Gutstorm asks, "I shwear, everytime we walk to thish gate I get my ash kicked, we shpecting company?"

Lylia briefly says, "Yes."

Speaking heartily to Lylia, Chamorr says, "Everybody is correct, sometimes."

Speaking optimistically to Gutstorm, Leafiara says, "Well, there's always hope tonight will be different."

Gutstorm says, "We should put Helga in charge of dish gate."

Razanetika softly asks, "Did the storm roll on by?"

A flash of lightning lights up the sky, followed by a rumble of thunder.

Razanetika softly says, "Ah there it is."

Speaking to Razanetika, Gutstorm says, "Iffin I die, you kin have me shock collection."

Speaking to a rolton, Sofal says, "Hi food."

Speaking to Chamorr, Gutstorm asks, "You need a pair?"

Kiinu says, "Is that so? You should join me for a rest."

Speaking heartily to Gutstorm, Chamorr says, "Is that where all me odd socks are."

Speaking to Razanetika, Sofal says, "Guess it did not like that idea."

Speaking softly to Chamorr, Razanetika says, "He's a sock thief."

More flickering silver lights flash in the distance, growing closer to town.

Speaking heartily to Gutstorm, Chamorr says, "If yer gonna take socks, at least take the pair."

Leafiara whispers something to Pukk.

Pukk quietly says, "They always have to have their grand entrances."

Zosopage asks, "Horses?"

Elphieya hopefully asks, "Any chance we are expecting friendly compnay?"

Speaking to Chamorr, Gutstorm says, "But, I'm making a fashon shtatement."

Speaking heartily to Raelee, Chamorr says, "You mus be excited, huh."

Speaking tentatively to Elphieya, Leafiara says, "...by some definitions of 'friendly.'."

Lylia says, "It is the Hall of Mages, I imagine, sending their emissaries."

Lyrna asks, "Potentially not hostile?"

Zosopage says, "The coffin perhaps."

Lylia offhandedly adds, "I consider them friendly."

Speaking musingly to Lyrna, Leafiara says, "Yeah, that sounds more like it."

Speaking to Chamorr, Raelee says, "It is my job."

Pukk quietly says, "Might be a bunch of bandits. We should kill first, then ask questions."

Speaking heartily to Lylia, Chamorr says, "They is imperials, nothin friendly at all."

Goldstr says, "I heards dey comin to help cure da blight."

Pukk whispers something to Leafiara.

Cryheart says, "I would ask for good hospitality."

Elphieya quietly says, "If someone can cure this blight, I'd be inclined to consider them friendly."

Gutstorm asks, "Ish dish a good shpot to shummon a demon?" [referring, I think, to "a very tall olive green grik'pwal" that was already with us]

Speaking heartily to Goldstr, Chamorr says, "They are comin to weaponize this blight."

Cryheart says, "I dinnae think so."

Speaking to Raelee, Lylia says, "They would assume any answer was a lie."

Pukk quietly says, "At least it isn't lightning."

Speaking to Lylia, Raelee says, "Even lies provide information."

Pukk quietly says, "Sir Shiny would get zapped with all that metal he is wearing."

Speaking to Pukk, Soneiken says, "I could change that."

Lylia says, "To some of us, yes."

Goldstr says, "Members folks We greets dem peacefully."

A Bourthian soldier arrives and says, "The Hall's representative will be here momentarily."

Lylia says, "This is not a reminder any of you should need."

Miss Goblyn just arrived, skipping merrily.

Warclaidh says, "I find your lack of faith.......warranted."

Cryheart says, "Hello Miss Goblyn."

Speaking cheerfully to Goblyn, Leafiara says, "Oh, good to see another friendly face tonight."

Speaking to Goblyn, Soneiken says, "Hellos."

Speaking to Goblyn, Melikor says, "Good evening, nice to see you."

Cryheart whispers something to Lylia.

Speaking amusedly to Melikor, Goblyn says, "Hello, Melikor."

Speaking to Goblyn, Ysharra says, "Are you well, Goblyn? It's been a long time."

Roblar deeply asks, "So who arrivings?"

Speaking to Goblyn, Goldstr asks, "How goes yer shop?"

Chamorr heartily says, "Hall of Mage folks."

Speaking quietly to Goblyn, Pukk says, "Everybody is wondering about the pie shop. I know Cryheart has been looking forward to some kitten pie."

Roblar deeply says, "Ah rights."

Speaking to Roblar, Zosopage says, "Never surrender."

Guarrin whispers something to Avalera.

Cryheart says, "The mayor is leadng us now."

Speaking warmly to Cryheart, Lylia says, "Thank you."

Speaking cheerfully to Goldstr, Goblyn says, "It maybe has been... misbehaving. I did have to burn part of it down again to be... making a point."

Some flicker silver lights appear outside of the Hendoran Outpost, then glow brighter, then fade.

Cryheart says, "Hmm..they went into the Outpost."

[travel]

[Lower Dragonsclaw, Grasslands]

Growing among the warm grasses are a few scattered trees. It is hard to tell if the forest you can see to the west is encroaching upon the grasslands or if it is slowly being harvested and replaced for grazing. You also see a fortified stone imperial outpost, a huge imperial wagon and a glowing blue-white pylon.

Cryheart says, "Gate."

[travel]

Pukk quietly says, "You should join Cryhear.....I mean Lylia."

[Outpost, Outer Courtyard]

A pair of Hendoran soldiers stand at attention on either side of a black iron portcullis which leads outside the outpost. Beyond them, the courtyard fills a space between the outer wooden wall and an inner wall made of stone, where a fortified keep rises behind it. Above, imperial soldiers slowly walk the parapet of the outer wall, their eyes focused on the horizon. You also see a grey brick tavern.

Lylia says, "I do know the way about..."

Speaking to Lylia, Raelee says, "... this will suffice."

Speaking baffledly to Lylia, Goblyn says, "I did think you know... all things."

Speaking to Warclaidh, Gutstorm exclaims, "I'm not worthy!"

Thrassus asks, "Perhaps they have taken over the labratory already?"

Speaking to Goblyn, Ysharra asks, "What did I do now?"

Speaking to Goblyn, Lylia says, "No, that would be Xorus. I do, however, know enough to have chosen him to advise me."

Speaking quietly to Roblar, Pukk asks, "Did you join?"

Cryheart says, "A reminder that the mayor leads."

Ysharra says, "It's where I would go."

Ysharra says, "Wonderful workspace."

Speaking slowly to Ysharra, Goblyn asks, "Maybe it is what you did not do, yes?"

Roblar deeply says, "Iz ok."

Some blue-robed mages wander by, and the fading glow of silvery lights diminish elsewhere in the courtyard. There is a hustle of activity as Hendoran and Bourthian soldiers move about, hauling around some rune-carved steel crates and other unmarked containers.

Speaking to Goblyn, Ysharra says, "I do all the things."

Speaking quietly to Roblar, Pukk says, "I know, I know...it's Lylia....but come on. You get to group up with me too."

Speaking to Lylia, Goblyn says, "Very well, Mayor Lylia."

Roblar deeply says, "Don't want to."

Gutstorm says, "If a ranger wash leading, we woulda ended upin sholhaven."

Roblar deeply says, "Nice and quieter."

[travel]

Guarrin whispers something to Cryheart.

[Outpost, Inner Courtyard]

The entryway into the inner courtyard is a mirror image of the entryway into the outpost but constructed of stone. The use of stone amplifies the sounds of the busy outer courtyard creating the sensation of immersion in the Hendoran presence in the north. Arrow slits line the walls of the entryway and trapdoors, portals for boiling oil, gaze down from the ceiling. You also see a black iron portcullis.

Speaking quietly to Roblar, Pukk exclaims, "But what about all those good times we had!"

Roblar deeply says, "Was drunk."

Pukk quietly says, "Well that explains the slurring."

A man in a deeply-hooded ashen hued robe can be seen talking to some young blue-robed mages, he says a few things and issues some instructions and sends them off and running. Seeing the crowd, which has stopped moving now, he walks towards them.

Roblar smiles at Goblyn.

Roblar deeply says, "She know."

Meeting Cordarius

Cordarius waves.

Cordarius exclaims, "Good eve!"

Speaking to Goblyn, Gutstorm asks, "Wotsh in da shack?"

Speaking to Cordarius, Raelee says, "... Magister Cordarius."

Leifa says, "Good evening."

Speaking heartily to Cordarius, Chamorr says, "Howdy."

>look cordar

You see Magister Cordarius Hodges.

He appears to be a Human.

It is difficult to properly see his features as the hood of his robe is pulled down over his face.

He is in good shape.

He is wearing a small pendant in the shape of a sleek white falcon set with a black coral in its talons, a deeply hooded ashen-hued robe, a slim black cloth pack, a thin reddish-black ring, an onyx-clasped grey pouch, and a pair of onyx-buckled boots.

Pukk quietly exclaims, "Imps!"

Cordarius says, "Hello everyone. I heard rumors of the big reception parties. I thought it was exaggerated."

Cordarius smirks.

Cordarius moves to stand in front of Raelee.

Cordarius removes the hood of his robe, revealing his features.

>look corda

You see Magister Cordarius Hodges.

He appears to be a Human.

He is tall and has a trim build. He appears to be in the spring of life. He has sharp grey-green eyes and unblemished tanned skin. He has chin length, razor-cut sandy blonde hair with a black streak running through it. He has a clean-shaven face, a straight nose and dimples.

Lylia says, "This is one of the smaller and quieter ones, I believe."

Cordarius says, "Magister Raelee Svala. Well met. I've read about you. Heard about you too."

Cordarius and Raelee shake hands.

Speaking to Cordarius, Goldstr asks, "Evenin Magister?"

Cryheart says, "We do try to welcome guests."

Speaking to Lylia, Dergoatean exclaims, "Don't tempt them!"

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra says, "Neither rain nor snow nor rotting fish will hold this welcome wagon back."

Goblyn confusedly asks, "There is a party?"

Raelee levels her gaze at Cordarius, staring intently at him without blinking her eyes.

Cordarius asks, "Are you...going to introduce me?"

Cordarius peers quizzically at Raelee.

Speaking quietly to Leafiara, Pukk whispers aloud, "I think Raelee is in trouble."

Cordarius says, "To your friends."

Cordarius smiles.

Raelee glances around the area.

Speaking agreeably to Pukk, Leafiara whispers aloud, "Always."

Speaking to Goblyn, Madmountan says, "IN my tummy."

Speaking to Cordarius, Raelee says, "These are not friends."

Speaking to Goblyn, Soneiken says, "Not only a party, but a PIE party."

Speaking softly to Pukk, Dracnoir says, "Some live for trouble."

Cordarius begins chuckling at Raelee!

Gutstorm asks, "Shummone shay pie?"

Speaking to Cordarius, Leafiara affirms, "She's not even lyin' either."

Cryheart says, "But we still welcome her."

Speaking to Cordarius, Dergoatean says, "She says that but deep down she loves every single one of us."

Pukk whispers something to Goblyn.

Cordarius says, "Where is the fun. It's like you and Octaven are cut from the same cloth."

Cordarius smirks.

Speaking quietly to Cordarius, Pukk says, "She is just shy. I'm one of her best friends."

Speaking to Cordarius, Raelee says, "Mayor Lylia."

Cordarius says, "Don'ttellherIsaidthat."

Speaking softly to Goblyn, Dracnoir asks, "Do you, perchance, have any hearts with you?"

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra says, "Oh, I like you already."

(Raelee nods her head towards Lylia.)

Speaking to Cordarius, Lylia says, "She shall hear not a word from me."

Speaking to Dergoatean, Goblyn asks, "I do think you are making a joke, yes?"

Pukk whispers something to Goblyn.

Cordarius says, "Well, not-Raelee friends, my name is Cordarius Hodges."

Speaking to Cordarius, Lylia says, "Welcome to the Landing, or at least to its nearest neighbor. Forgive the fact that we are currently the City of Seven Smells, none of them good."

Cryheart says, "A pleasure."

Cordarius says, "I am a Magister of the...yada yada yada and so on."

Speaking softly to Goblyn, Dracnoir says, "My thanks to you."

Speaking to Cordarius, Gutstorm exclaims, "Well shaid!"

Cordarius frowns.

Evia says, "We are all masters of our own yada."

Speaking quietly to Leafiara, Pukk says, "He is the master of the Yada yada yada...that is a important role." [note: Cordarius had (I assume) typoed as "Mastier," which I took as "Magister" and edited accordingly, whereas Evia, Pukk, and later Talonir respond to it more as it was written, closer to "Master"]

Speaking heartily to Cordarius, Chamorr says, "I'm Chamorr."

Cordarius says, "Well then. I'm getting rusty."

Speaking softly to Goblyn, Dracnoir says, "I should have specified one that was not decaying..."

Cordarius removes a crisp green apple from in his black cloth pack.

Cordarius says, "I'll just reach for it like a normal person."

Cordarius polishes the apple on his sleeve.

Talonir says, "I've attempted to master my yada many times."

Cordarius takes a bite of his green apple.

Speaking heartily to Cordarius, Chamorr says, "Always happy to see reps from the empire visit."

Speaking confusedly to Dergoatean, Goblyn asks, "This is... not a joke?"

Speaking softly to Cordarius, Bernadette says, "I'm Bernie."

Speaking to Dergoatean, Ysharra says, "I think it might be faster to make a list of things you wouldn't joke about."

Speaking to Dergoatean, Goblyn says, "You are very strange, Dergoatean."

Pukk looks at Chamorr and gags.

Pukk coughs.

Pukk quietly says, "Sorry."

Speaking to Goblyn, Dergoatean says, "I'm an enigma wrapped in a riddle."

Pukk whispers something to Leafiara.

Speaking to Cordarius, Raelee says, "That one is Sir Cryheart."

Raelee glances at Cryheart.

Sofal says, "The last batch of apples left around town, some good, some bad."

Speaking to Goblyn, Ysharra says, "Pot, I have a lovely new friend for you to make."

Speaking to Cordarius, Raelee says, "And Sir Mynon."

Raelee glances at Mynon.

Roblar deeply says, "Cud be a dark elf wrapped in bacon."

Evia says, "Smells like a danged privy."

Cryheart says, "Welcome to the Landing area."

Cordarius says, "Oo, Sir. Fancy. A title. Like me."

Cryheart grins at Cordarius.

Speaking to Goblyn, Soneiken asks, "You are calling utter strange like?"

Speaking to Cordarius, Raelee says, "... and otherwise a complete list of names is going to take more time than we have."

Cordarius nods at Cryheart.

Cordarius says, "I didn't ask you to introduce them."

Lylia offhandedly notes, "I hear the mayor may be present. Somewhere."

Cordarius chuckles.

Cordarius says, "I asked you to introduce me."

Cordarius snickers.

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra says, "I'm Ysharra. This is Melikor, and of course this is Mayor Lylia Rashere."

Pukk whispers something to Leafiara.

Speaking to Cordarius, Leifa says, "Seems as if you are outspoken enough to do so yourself."

Speaking pointedly to Cordarius, Raelee says, "You introduced yourself."

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra says, "I'd keep going but that's a lot of talking even for me."

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra says, "And this lot isn't shy."

Cordarius says, "Well, yeah. You left me no choice in your idleness."

Cordarius shakes his head, clucking his tongue.

Cordarius says, "But it's okay. I like to talk."

Cordarius says, "So winner winner cockatrice dinner."

Chamorr heartily says, "Yer from da empire, acourse ya do."

Raelee takes a slow, deep breath then pinches the bridge of her nose.

Pukk quietly exclaims, "Wait...wait...a Magister that has a sense of humor!"

Cordarius takes a bite of his green apple.

Pukk quietly exclaims, "Heresy!"

Goblyn offers Dracnoir a green-veined gooey red heart.

Dracnoir accepts Goblyn's gooey red heart.

Speaking to Pukk, Leafiara deadpans, "Demotion inbound."

Cordarius says, "These are delicious."

Pukk quietly says, "Next thing you know, he might smile."

Speaking to Pukk, Zosopage says, "If they didn't have a sense of humor then we'd really be in trouble."

Cordarius bites into his crisp green apple annoyingly loud.

Speaking to Pukk, Leafiara reminds, "Hey, Dennet smiled all the time..."

Lylia replies, "Wonderful! We also enjoy a bit of conversation. You may have heard this as well. And of course, boundless curiosity. I hope your journey here was a pleasant one."

Speaking softly to Cordarius, Dracnoir asks, "Hungry?"

Speaking quietly to Leafiara, Pukk says, "That was a evil smile....it suits them."

Speaking to Cordarius, Leifa asks, "Have you come to share fruits and other treats with us?"

Cordarius says, "It was. We traveled by portals."

Cordarius says, "I'm sure you saw your silvery lights."

Speaking to Cordarius, Evia says, "Lucky you are to find a good apple, so many things have gone spoilt."

Lylia says, "I did."

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra says, "We'd be even livelier, if it weren't for the blight killing our friends and neighbors."

Cordarius says, "Walking? No thanks. Wagons? Hard pass."

Dracnoir glances between Cordarius and a green-veined gooey red heart.

Lylia says, "I prefer a summoning circle, but of course, we take many roads to arrive at our destination."

Cordarius nods at Ysharra.

Dracnoir shows Cordarius his gooey red heart.

Speaking softly to Cordarius, Dracnoir asks, "Want a bite?"

Cordarius says, "Unfortunate. That blight."

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra says, "Causing us to run all over the western side of the continent trying to get enough food and game to feed those who yet thrive."

Cordarius frowns at Dracnoir.

Speaking softly to Cordarius, Razanetika asks, "Do you float on clouds?"

Dendrick asks, "Someone called for a cockatrice dinner?"

Dendrick waves a plate of bourbon-glazed roasted cockatrice around.

Cordarius says, "I've broken enough hearts in my day."

Cordarius says, "I'd rather not eat one too."

Speaking quietly to Cordarius, Pukk says, "Hearts are good raw. Just need some pepper."

Speaking to Cordarius, Lylia agrees, "Yes. The blight is enough to spoil many people's good humor. And appetite."

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra says, "How do you like to break yours? I use Spikethorn."

Goblyn whispers something to Ysharra.

Speaking quietly to Ysharra, Pukk asks, "Have I told you how cute you are when you are angry?"

Speaking to Cordarius, Lylia says, "Perhaps you could tell us more of what you have heard of it from an outside perspective."

Cordarius smirks at Ysharra.

Cordarius says, "I guess you'll have to find out."

Cordarius winks at Ysharra.

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra says, "You guess wrong."

Ysharra grins slowly at Cordarius.

Cordarius glances at Ysharra and makes a little purring sound.

Cordarius shrugs at Lylia.

Cordarius says, "I'd rather not. Most of it is not flattering."

Speaking slowly to Cordarius, Raelee says, "... let us remain focused on the matter at hand."

Cordarius says, "Yes. Me."

Cordarius smirks.

Lylia replies, "I prefer an honest truth to a flattering lie."

Cordarius says, "Sorry, no. I jest. The silver portal travel trip has been long."

Cordarius says, "Not really, but..."

Cordarius nods at Raelee.

Lylia admits, "And of course, I prefer a flattering truth to any other sort."

Bernadette softly says, "A dagger of truth hurts less than a swerd of misconception."

Cordarius says, "So I've come, with some of my fellows, to essentially help observe some of this blight and disease going on, especially among some of the people."

Speaking to Bernadette, Gutstorm exclaims, "Riddlesh!"

Evia says, "Good."

Cordarius says, "I've been sent by Octaven, and I guess I'll be working with you Magister."

Cordarius nods at Raelee.

Cordarius says, "Well, for you, I guess."

Cordarius says, "Which, I am useful. I'm more than just a pretty face."

Cordarius smiles.

Pukk whispers something to Goblyn.

Lylia quietly says, "I hope you have a strong stomach."

Speaking to Cordarius, Raelee states, "Correct."

Cordarius says, "I do."

Cordarius asks, "Want to feel it?"

Cordarius peers quizzically at Lylia.

Lylia smoothly says, "You have not even bought me dinner first."

Speaking softly to Cordarius, Dracnoir asks, "You're... pretty?"

Speaking to Cordarius, Shinann asks, "Is portal travel difficult?"

Dendrick offers Lylia a plate of bourbon-glazed roasted cockatrice.

Dendrick says, "Most is left."

Lylia declines Dendrick's offer.

Cordarius offers Lylia a crisp green apple.

Dracnoir softly says, "No accounting for taste, I guess..."

Cordarius smirks.

Speaking to Dracnoir, Leafiara acknowledges, "Yeah, I can't tell either."

Lylia accepts Cordarius's green apple.

Foothill Fieldwork

Speaking to Cordarius, Raelee says, "Once all of the supplies are in place, you have the night to dawdle... but come morning, we have work to do."

Cordarius says, "Well, yes and no Magister."

Cordarius says, "I need to get our field setup."

Cordarius says, "Tonight."

Raelee nods at Cordarius.

Cordarius says, "I was hoping you could escort me to where the foothills begin."

Lylia smiles and tosses the apple in the air a couple of times, then turns it in her hand without tasting it.

Lylia says, "Thank you."

Lylia says, "Yes, I believe we can."

Pukk whispers something to Leafiara.

Cordarius asks, "Is portal travel hard?"

Cordarius peers quizzically at Shinann.

Shinann nods at Cordarius.

Cordarius says, "Long distances, moving through multiple ones, it can be a little jarring. Disorientating."

Speaking to Shinann, Raelee asks, "Have you ever walked through a familiar gate?"

Shinann nods at Raelee.

Speaking to Shinann, Raelee says, "It is merely a matter of scale."

Shinann says, "I was just wondering if food could be transported is all."

Cordarius points at Raelee.

Speaking to Raelee, Gutstorm says, "The north game is very familiar to me."

Speaking to Cordarius, Lylia says, "Would you like to join me, then? And we shall lead on to wherever you see fit to..."

The ground trembles as rolling thunder resounds throughout the sky.

Dracnoir softly says, "Storm seems to be picking up..."

Cordarius asks, "Well, yes. You're leading this mob?"

Lylia says, "...to do whatever you have in mind."

Cordarius says, "Whoa..."

Cordarius says, "You haven't even bought me dinner yet."

Lylia says, "Yes."

Cordarius winks at Lylia.

Dendrick says, "Gonna just go take care of this."

Lylia raises her voice in merry laughter.

Pukk quietly says, "Maybe the Magister can blow up the statue."

Lylia offers Cordarius a crisp green apple.

Cordarius declines Lylia's offer.

Cordarius says, "All yours."

Cordarius removes a crisp green apple from in his black cloth pack.

Speaking softly to Cordarius, Dracnoir says, "Well, we figured since we elected her a couple of times, we'd let her run the show..."

Cordarius says, "I brought a whole orchard."

Goldstr offers Cordarius a golden brown mango tart.

Cordarius declines Goldstr's offer.

Goldstr says, "Good food."

Roblar sagely says, "Iz important to eats, and drink much water."

Cordarius says, "I've had my fill of tarts."

Lylia sincerely says, "Good. The apples are welcome."

Cordarius winks at Goldstr.

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra asks, "...you did?"

Evia says, "Nothing like excess in the face of famine."

Cordarius asks, "See what I did there?"

Cordarius snickers.

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra says, "How much did you bring? Apples will go far..."

[travel]

Pukk whispers something to Saarosh.

Cordarius says, "Sorry, no I didn't really bring an orchard. Poor jest. I'm sorry."

Speaking softly to Cordarius, Dracnoir asks, "Well... if you've had your fill of tarts... may I recommend you avoid certain lasses among our current company?"

Speaking to Cordarius, Leifa says, "Our people could use some of those foods. Do not be wasteful or casual with your comments."

Lylia says, "Whatever you brought and can share would be welcome."

Cordarius nods at Leifa.

Cordarius says, "Noted."

Speaking quietly to Lylia, Pukk asks, "Did you know that you walk like Sir Shiny now? Are you getting up there in age?"

Speaking in Faendryl, Lylia says something you don't understand.

Cordarius takes a bite of his green apple.

Lylia asks, "Now, where is it you wished to go?"

Speaking quietly to Goblyn, Pukk says, "She is forgetful too."

Speaking to Lylia, Raelee says, "The foothills on the road to Vornavis."

Cordarius says, "I can certainly help. I've had some lovely gardens in the past. Part of perhaps why I'm here. We'll see what can be done."

Speaking to Pukk, Ysharra asks, "I have the opposite problem with humans. I can never tell with them. You're what, ninety?"

Cordarius nods at Raelee.

Speaking slowly to Pukk, Goblyn asks, "You will maybe be careful that she does not cut your tongue out, yes?"

Evia asks, "Perhaps a little to the south?"

[travel]

Speaking quietly to Ysharra, Pukk says, "I don't know about human either. Picky mortals."

Cordarius says, "He's 35."

Cordarius points at Pukk.

Speaking to Pukk, Goblyn says, "I do like to be hearing your jokes. You cannot tell them without your tongue."

Talonir says, "Humans are much shorter lived.. at best 12 or so."

Speaking quietly to Goblyn, Pukk exclaims, "That is part of the fun!"

Cordarius says, "I'm really good at guessing people's age."

Speaking surprisedly to Pukk, Leafiara asks, "Wait, you are?"

Speaking quietly to Leafiara, Pukk says, "Oh yeah I am."

[travel]

Pukk quietly says, "I keep forgetting."

Xorus asks, "How old am I?"

Speaking to Pukk, Leafiara marvels, "...huh."

Cordarius glances at Xorus.

Lylia says, "Now that is cheating."

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra says, "My garden rotted a few weeks ago. But it didn't have food, so it's not a concern...the crops and the..."

Dracnoir softly says, "That is why humans reproduce as rapidly as they do... Survival of the species through larger numbers instead of longevity of life..."

Madmountan says, "He said people, not leather bags."

Cordarius asks, "1353, give or take?"

Cordarius asks, "Amorite?"

Cordarius smiles.

Xorus says, "Clever."

Ysharra asks, "Older than your teeth?"

Speaking to Cordarius, Evia asks, "Are we there yet?"

Speaking to Cordarius, Lylia says, "You are good."

[travel]

Cordarius says, "Cunning too."

Cordarius nods at Xorus.

Speaking quietly to Goblyn, Pukk exclaims, "You have a date!"

[travel]

Speaking to Pukk, Goblyn exclaims, "I do not have this gross fruit!"

[travel]

[Upper Trollfang]

You are standing on the north bank of a fast moving stream that has cut a deep gully through this part of the forest. A dense growth of thick underbrush surrounds you, the leaves of which sparkle with tiny drops of water that have been cast into the air by the rushing water. A tremendous elm tree has been felled and placed across the gully and appears to provide you with a way to bridge the chasm.

Lylia slowly makes her way across the elm tree.

[bit of an awkward pause as people ponder whether to cross the tree or not]

Gutstorm asks, "Why the hell we go thish way?"

Speaking amusedly to Gutstorm, Leafiara says, "Beats me."

Pukk quietly says, "Hey with a calendar you can never go hungry. You have a lot of dates to eat."

Speaking softly to a black-masked wolf, Dracnoir says, "Hello, little sister. I hope the night goes well with you."

Cordarius lost his footing while trying to cross the elm tree! Luckily, he made it back to safe ground.

Cordarius slowly makes his way across the elm tree.

Sofal asks, "Isn't there a more group friendly way over there?"

Melyrra says, "I am not walking that tree in heels."

Melyrra just went up.

Avalera says, "Not sure why we didn't just take the long way."

[Upper Trollfang]

This is the southern bank of a fast moving stream that runs roughly west to east. Spanning the steep walled gully that holds the swiftly moving water is a large elm tree which serves as a makeshift bridge.

Cordarius takes a bite of his green apple.

Gutstorm says, "One shtraggler."

Evia yells, "C'mon Berost!"

Lylia says, "Stay close."

Bernadette softly asks, "Ye know how hard it is to climb a tree wit a blasted scarab in me leg?"

Speaking simply to Bernadette, Lylia says, "Yes."

Speaking quietly to Bernadette, Pukk exclaims, "Not to mention the fact that you are huge!"

Bernadette softly says, "Sposin ye does."

Sofal: "Maybe take the swamp back, that is always fun."

Pukk quietly says, "And full of spikes."

Speaking softly to Bernadette, Dracnoir says, "Well, if you ask nicely, I'm sure somebody would be willing to remove the leg... I mean scarab..."

Goblyn whispers something to Bernadette.

Speaking to Bernadette, Gutstorm says, "Jusht more of ye to lub."

Lylia says, "I suppose we should not trudge through the swamp..."

[travel]

Roblar attempts to punch a greater orc!

UAF: 686 vs UDF: 155 = 2.000 (capped) * MM: 95 + d100: 71 = 261

... and hit for 72 points of damage!

Uppercut compresses the diaphragm! The greater orc doubles over in pain, gasping for air.

The greater orc is stunned!

The greater orc chokes, momentarily unable to speak!

The greater orc seems at a loss for words!

    • Roblar's golvern-banded gauntlets unleash an invisible burst of force! **

... 15 points of damage!

Just like a brick to the head, without the imprint.

Speaking quietly to Roblar, Pukk says, "Good job."

[travel]

[Foothills]

From these gently sloping hills you can see a vast plain of tall grasses that stretches as far as the eye can see when gazing northward. To the south lies the eastern stretch of the Dragonsclaw Mountains, a range of rugged snow-capped peaks. The tallest of these peaks, Zeltoph Mountain, rises to a height of nearly fifteen thousand feet above the level of the sea to the north.

Speaking quietly to Pukk, Tsarok says, "Must be drunk."

Melyrra surprisedly says, "Oh."

Cordarius exclaims, "Ah ha!"

Melyrra says, "There you are." [she had left earlier to take the other route]

Speaking to Cordarius, Goldstr asks, "Ye lookin ta be close to da Caravansary?"

Cordarius kneels down.

Cordarius rubs his chin thoughtfully.

Speaking to Melyrra, Lylia says, "Thank you for scouting ahead."

Cordarius stands up.

Speaking quietly to Roblar, Pukk says, "I knew you couldn't resist joining us sheep."

Cordarius says, "Stay here, one moment."

Magister Cordarius just went west.

Magister Cordarius just arrived.

Magister Cordarius just went south.

Melyrra idly says, "It was nothing."

Magister Cordarius just arrived.

Zosopage says, "The stockade is close to here if I'm not mistaken."

Cordarius nods.

Speaking deeply to Pukk, Roblar says, "Only since movings."

Cordarius says, "This will do."

Melyrra whispers something to Lylia.

Sofal exclaims, "And it comes with gnolls!"

Cordarius says, "A good choke point."

Cordarius says, "Not those kind."

Cordarius winks at Ysharra.

A very tall olive green grik'pwal moves its mouth for a moment as if it were speaking, but no sound can be heard.

Xorus says, "The great mountain of Zeltoph. Far to the east is a mountain named Zeltoph. It is all very confusing."

Chamorr heartily asks, "Choke point?"

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra says, "Shows what you know."

Dracnoir softly asks, "Why is there a demon here? What IDIOT brought a demon?"

Speaking to Chamorr, Gutstorm says, "Like your troat."

Pukk whispers something to Goblyn.

Speaking to Chamorr, Leafiara explains, "A place to cut off invaders since the path through here is narrow."

Speaking heartily to Cordarius, Chamorr asks, "Ya need a choke point to study da blight?"

Leafiara musingly says, "Or... in this case, maybe to quarantine the blight."

Cordarius points at you!

Leafiara flashes a quick grin at Cordarius.

Cordarius says, "Point to the lovely..."

Cordarius peers quizzically at Leafiara.

Speaking to Cordarius, Leafiara replies, "Leafi."

Leafiara nods briefly at Cordarius.

Cordarius says, "Leafi."

Speaking to Chamorr, Goldstr says, "To cut it off if needs Bear."

Cordarius says, "Wonderful name."

Leafiara nods faintly at Cordarius.

Speaking uncertainly to Cordarius, Leafiara says, "...thank you."

Sofal says, "A blight fire line."

Ysharra says, "In order for a chokepoint or a quarantine to be effective, we still need to know how it spreads."

Ysharra says, "Otherwise you're just making new messes with less control."

Speaking to Ysharra, Raelee says, "And that is why *some* will be at this field location and the rest working out of the Outpost to study it."

Dracnoir softly says, "One would think that the Ur-Daemon wars would be fresh enough in people's memories to prevent people from repeating the same stupid mistakes..."

Cordarius says, "Well, I'm here to also keep it from spreading further south through people."

Cordarius says, "Allow me one moment..."

Cordarius kneels down.

Evia says, "So put all your blights in one basket, and count them when they hatch."

Speaking to Dracnoir, Melikor says, "I don't think that's fresh in anyone's mind."

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra says, "You're going to stop people from fleeing in desperation."

Cordarius says, "That's an ugly way to put it."

Speaking softly to Melikor, Dracnoir says, "Then they need their memories worked on."

Cordarius nods at Ysharra.

Speaking heartily to Cordarius, Chamorr says, "That is why you are here, to save the empire."

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra asks, "Is it accurate?"

Cryheart whispers something to Guarrin.

Leifa says, "It's a questionable suggestion."

Speaking softly to Melikor, Dracnoir says, "From your reactions, I'm going to guess that it's... your... stupidity that brought this demon here..."

Leafiara whisperr something to Ysharra.

Elphieya quietly asks, "Are we suggesting a lockdown on the Landing with no one leaving? Or just those who are obviously afflicted with the blight?"

Cordarius says, "Shhh, give me a moment please."

Cordarius asks, "Did you not tell them anything?"

Speaking in Faendryl, Lylia says something you don't understand.

Cordarius peers quizzically at Raelee.

Cordarius smirks.

Guarrin whispers something to Cryheart.

Speaking in Faendryl, Lylia says something you don't understand.

Cordarius stands up.

Speaking to Cordarius, Raelee says, "I relayed this all weeks ago. I cannot be held responsible if they did not listen."

Speaking to Dracnoir, Melikor asks, "Afraid of demons, are we?"

Ysharra whispers something to Leafiara.

Sofal asks, "So travel restrictions to Sol... will they also be in place for Ice?"

Speaking softly to Melikor, Dracnoir says, "Not stupid enough to jump into the fire, curious if it's warm..."

Cryheart whispers something to Guarrin.

Cordarius begins slowly pacing through the area, pausing multiple times to observe the area and occassionally mutters an incantation.

Speaking to Sofal, Raelee says, "It is not the Hall's place to control the border to Icemule."

Speaking to Sofal, Raelee says, "That is a matter for their own leadership."

Lylia says, "From my discussions with Mayor Tawariell, no such restrictions are in place there at this time."

Ysharra says, "The blight likely has some organic component, too."

Speaking softly to Lylia, Razanetika says, "That is good to know."

Ysharra says, "Icemule will hopefully not be hospitable to it."

Zosopage says, "Too cold in Ice for the blight to be as effective."

Ysharra says, "Unless, of course, it's fungal. But we haven't seen much evidence of that."

Lylia says, "I would not wish to spread it, regardless. We already have our more hale and hearty citizens on patrol along the route to Icemule Trace, fighting a rising tide of banditry."

Speaking in Faendryl to Lylia, Melikor says something you don't understand.

Fetid fumes, intermingled with the scent of rot and decay, suddenly flood the area.

Speaking heartily to Cordarius, Chamorr says, "How zackly are ya gonna keep us from goin to Sol."

Pukk whispers something to Leafiara.

Razanetika softly exclaims, "That smell is horrible!"

Speaking softly in Faendryl to Melikor, Dracnoir says something you don't understand.

Speaking to Razanetika, Goblyn grumbles, "Maybe you will have your nose checked, yes?"

Speaking to Goblyn, Gutstorm says, "Dont cover up da goodsh."

Speaking in Faendryl, Dergoatean says something you don't understand.

Lylia quietly says, "This is neither the time nor the place, perhaps."

Evia whispers something to Guarrin.

Speaking softly to Goblyn, Razanetika says, "My nose works just fine, thank you sweetly."

Speaking in Faendryl, Lylia says something you don't understand.

Sofal says, "And will it affect other forms of travel... rings, etc."

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra says, "It's a good thing starving families can't planeshift. You'd be harried all over."

Cordarius chants, holding his hands together before tiny silver bolts of lightning dance between his fingertips. He removes a dull black shard from his pouch and touches it to the silver bolts and they spark, infusing the shard and causing it to glow and crackle with energy.

Speaking softly to Melikor, Dracnoir says, "If you wish to put the "romance" in "necromancer"... I'll look the other way on that... That is between you and your dead bodies... Demons... that never ends well..."

Cordarius offers Raelee a glowing silver shard that seems to pulse with crackling energy.

Cordarius asks, "Here, can you hold this?"

Pukk quietly says, "These things never turn out good."

Speaking to Ysharra, Raelee says, "And if there is... concern... over the plan, there is no use in burdening him with it."

Raelee accepts Cordarius's silver shard.

Sofal says, "Um, may want to stop the fumes are getting worse."

Cordarius says, "Don't drop it."

Cordarius says, "We'll all die."

Cordarius says, "Just kidding."

Speaking to herself, Leifa says, "It was his magic we saw in the sky."

Cordarius says, "But seriously don't drop it."

Speaking in Faendryl to Dracnoir, Melikor says something you don't understand.

Sofal says, "I do not think the blight likes what you are attempting."

Cordarius says, "I'm going to go setup the next one. Give me one moment."

Magister Cordarius just went south.

Speaking to Sofal, Goldstr says, "We hopes."

Dracnoir softly says, "If he brought us out here to be ambushed..."

(Raelee continues holding the shard, looking rather unconcerned about it.)

Dracnoir softly says, "Now would be a good time..."

Lylia says, "We speak of the blight as an entity. It is important to remember it is not -- but it is set upon us by someone who is. A conscious choice to beset the town with it."

>peer s

You peer south and see ...

[Foothills]

The hills become steeper to the south, dotted with patches of scrub, but between the hills the top of a log palisade is visible.

Also here: Magister Cordarius

Speaking fo Madmountan says, "I was just gonna say. That would be great."

Gutstorm says, "We should play hot potato wit dat shard."

(Ysharra glances down at the newcomer's work, fighting an urge to sweep it over the dead grass.)

Leifa concernedly says, "He is casting unknown magics and does not explain himself."

Lylia says, "Turn your ire where it best belongs. Not upon one another."

Speaking to Ysharra, Raelee continues, "These directives come from Grand Magister Octaven."

Magister Cordarius just arrived.

Speaking to Raelee, Ysharra says, "It's not her that stays my hand. It's faith in you, Magister Svala."

Cordarius nods at Raelee.

Speaking heartily to Raelee, Chamorr says, "That does not impress me."

Cordarius says, "Can you um..."

Cordarius says, "Here."

Gutstorm says, "I'll hold one."

Cordarius whispers something to Raelee.

Raelee raises an eyebrow in Cordarius's direction.

Raelee whispers something to Cordarius.

Raelee nods slightly at Cordarius.

Speaking softly to Raelee, Dracnoir says, "I trust you... more than I do most humans... I do not know that one..."

Cordarius nods.

Speaking to Dracnoir, Raelee says, "And for the moment, he works for me."

Goblyn sits down next to Raelee.

Raelee says, "A moment."

Speaking pointedly to Goblyn, Raelee says, "You may not wish to sit there."

Speaking to Raelee, Goblyn asks, "There will be pain if I do sit here?"

Goblyn glances hopefully up at Raelee.

Cordarius leans forward.

(Raelee tosses the shard from her right to left hand, letting it land in her palm.)

Pukk quietly says, "Now you went and done it. You told her that it might kill her or somebody."

Zosopage whispers something to Goblyn.

Speaking to Goblyn, Madmountan says, "I can kick ya in the head, if ya like."

(Raelee waves her right hand over the shard in a quick, but complex pattern, allowing mana to slowly pulse into it.)

Cordarius nods.

Speaking quietly to Madmountan, Pukk says, "Stop flirting with her and pay attention to what the wizards are doing."

Speaking confidently to Goblyn, Leafiara says, "Bet he could do it even if you were standing too."

Speaking to Madmountan, Goblyn asks, "Maybe, if it is a very good one. But I will like to see this procedure first, yes?"

The silver shard in Raelee's hand pulses brightly and cracks in dozens of places before breaking apart like an egg. The entire area crackles with energy and hums with power. Tiny thin arcs of silver light bend about the area, zigzagging around while creating a glowing web of energy. The latticework of silver glow soon fades, as if bleeding into the very air.

Cordarius says, "Perfect! Well done."

Raelee glances around the area.

Speaking to Cordarius, Raelee says, "... indeed."

Dracnoir disbelievingly asks, "That was... supposed to happen?"

Chamorr heartily says, "Now what."

Speaking quietly to Lycurgus, Pukk says, "No, you shouldn't try that."

Cordarius says, "Now."

Cordarius joins Lylia's group.

Cordarius says, "Shall we head south? See if it worked."

Cordarius says, "If not we all die."

Cordarius says, "Kidding..."

Cordarius points south.

Speaking quietly to Cordarius, Pukk says, "Killer joke."

Cordarius nods at Lylia.

Gutstorm says, "Gotta die shometimes."

Cordarius shrugs.

Cordarius says, "Okay someone go that way."

Cordarius points south.

Lylia says, "Hmm? Yes."

The air begins to thicken around Lylia, slowing her movements temporarily while pale silver motes of light swirl about her briefly.

Mayor Lylia's group just went south.

The air begins to thicken around Lylia, slowing her movements temporarily while pale silver motes of light swirl about her briefly.

Mayor Lylia's group just went north.

Dergoatean exclaims, "Perfect!"

Cordarius says, "Two barriers are better than one."

Dergoatean asks, "... right?"

Lylia says, "Normally, I would expect you to say 'please' before ordering me about...but I shall let that be, this time."

Roblar deeply says, "It iz missing when heading north."

Cordarius says, "It's uncertain if a massive exodus could overpower one, unlikely, but, two to be safe."

Cordarius nods.

Speaking quietly to Soneiken, Pukk says, "Those gnolls look like they might be kin to you."

Roblar deeply says, "But only slightly south."

Leifa says, "What an unusual missive."

Cordarius bows to Lylia.

Lylia inclines her head.

Cordarius says, "Yes, forgive my manners."

Cordarius says, "Lost in my craft, so I'm sorry. I get into myself a bit."

Cordarius bows to Lylia.

Cordarius says, "Humble apologies."

Lylia says, "Indeed, I could forgive a great deal of you."

Speaking to Pukk, Soneiken says, "Perhaps."

Cordarius says, "So as you can see. Harmless magical field."

Speaking softly to Cordarius, Dracnoir says, "Typically, 'getting into oneself' is discouraged in public..."

Speaking to Pukk, Soneiken says, "But don't tell anyone."

Ysharra says, "Harmless..."

Plans Ahead

Cordarius says, "Over the next few days we'll be setting up some...quarters. For those who try to pass who show infection. Late, or early signs of it. Even those not showing yet."

Speaking to Dracnoir, Talonir says, "... I've paid good silver to watch...."

Evia asks, "Interments?"

Cordarius says, "Healing tents."

Speaking quietly to Leafiara, Pukk says, "You know, I once wanted to be a wizard. But I couldn't spell."

Ysharra asks, "You mean field hospitals, or field morgues?"

Speaking slowly to Cordarius, Goblyn says, "Healing... tents..."

Raelee says, "... point being, this is not a blockade."

Cordarius points at Raelee.

Evia asks, "Assuming you know how to heal them, then?"

Cordarius asks, "Well spoken. Just like Octaven. Are you sure your not related?"

Cordarius peers quizzically at Raelee.

Dergoatean says, "Note he didn't say "quarters." He said "...quarters"."

Speaking to Cordarius, Raelee says, "Not to my knowledge."

Leafiara muses, "...sure wouldn't surprise me."

Speaking to Raelee, Soneiken says, "So like toll both."

Speaking to Ysharra, Raelee says, "And field hospitals can become morgues."

Speaking to Ysharra, Raelee says, "And that is because no one has a cure, not yet."

Cordarius says, "Our goal is to help block the witch's blight from moving to the Empire."

Speaking to Raelee, Ysharra says, "I want to be clear."

Speaking to Ysharra, Raelee says, "... however, the whole lot remaining at the Outpost is here to work on that."

Speaking deeply to Soneiken, Roblar asks, "You paid da bridge troll?"

Madmountan says, "That would be such a...shame."

Cordarius asks, "I think we can all agree, that is something we do not want to see. Even if it appears she has targeted Wehnimer's Landing with it...it's not affecting townspeople and if they move south?"

Speaking to Roblar, Soneiken says, "Of course."

Roblar deeply says, "Best to kill dem."

Cordarius asks, "To Vornavis? Mestanir? Further?"

Cordarius shakes his head.

Speaking heartily to Cordarius, Chamorr says, "How bout tryin to get rid of it."

Cordarius says, "That's part two."

Cordarius nods at Chamorr.

Speaking to Roblar, Soneiken says, "But I have a mutual relationship wid dem."

Speaking to Chamorr, Raelee says, "As I have said, we are working on that. But it is not reasonable to expect us to have an instant solution."

Speaking to Goblyn, Gutstorm asks, "Any candy in da bag?"

Raelee says, "A cure is going to take time. That is the simple reality of the situation."

Roblar deeply spits, "Wid, trolls!"

Leifa asks, "What becomes of those detained?"

Speaking slowly to Gutstorm, Goblyn asks, "This is maybe depending on what your... definition... of this 'candy' word is, yes?"

Speaking to Roblar, Soneiken says, "Wid da bride."

Pukk whispers something to Goblyn.

Speaking heartily to Raelee, Chamorr says, "How bout studyin that dang bleakstone statue."

Cordarius says, "We'll help them as we can. Study them. Turn them back if they require it."

Speaking softly to Raelee, Dracnoir says, "Do you have rangers and empaths seeing if they can figure it out? Nature and healing are their thing, after all..."

Speaking to Leifa, Raelee says, "They are not prisoners. They do not have to stay if they wish to turn back."

Speaking to Roblar, Soneiken says, "Wid da bridge that is."

Speaking to Dracnoir, Raelee says, "We are the Hall of Mages. We do not have rangers or empaths."

Speaking to Cordarius, Lylia says, "Is there evidence at this point that it is a contagion at all? When we speak of containment, we usually speak of illness, not of a poison that is in the land and water itself."

Pukk whispers something to Goblyn.

Speaking softly to Raelee, Dracnoir asks, "And what then, pray tell, is your expertise regarding healing if you do not count empaths among your number?"

Speaking to Chamorr, Raelee says, "And if the Mayor would desire our aid with the statue, we would entertain the request. However, we would not be nearly so presumptuous to do so uninvited."

Cordarius says, "It's affecting people. The blight is not clinging only to the land and food."

Speaking to Lylia, Ysharra says, "Unknown."

Lylia wearily says, "I have spoken to the Town Council at length about the statue."

Cordarius says, "There's people that have died. It's time to act now."

Pukk whispers something to Goblyn.

Speaking to Chamorr, Gutstorm says, "They should blow it up anyway sho I can have it."

Speaking to Cordarius, Leafiara clarifies, "So you've seen it spread from person to... something else?"

Speaking to Cordarius, Lylia asks, "Yes, but is that blight spread by touch? By the winds themselves? By the breath of the sick?"

Speaking to Dracnoir, Raelee says, "This is a magical blight. This is beyond healing. This is more than healing people."

Ysharra says, "What she says is correct. It could still be a toxin."

Cordarius shrugs at Lylia.

Cordarius says, "All good questions we hope we can all learn together."

Ysharra says, "Of course, if it is an infection..."

Cordarius says, "But this barrier helps prevent those infected, regardless of origin, from physically moving further beyond this point."

Ysharra says, "It's probably too late to save Vornavis."

Speaking softly to Raelee, Dracnoir says, "I deal with blood and bone. Logic merely dictates empaths could be useful..."

Speaking to Cordarius, Lylia says, "Indeed. You have gotten your wish for containment, and I concur; it is necessary. I have never shied from doing what is needed."

Ysharra says, "Since it's been in the Landing for weeks."

Speaking evenly to Dracnoir, Raelee says, "And the Hall of Mages represents the best of the Empire's magical scholarship. We have knowledge."

Dracnoir softly says, "Less bone, more blood."

Speaking to Cordarius, Soneiken asks, "Perhaps you could approach the Maaghara? Can you speak her language?"

Lylia coolly says, "Now it is time I got what I wish, and that is aid in understanding the blight and turning it to --"

Speaking to Dracnoir, Raelee says, "And if you would desire empaths to aid with this, then seek them. But we can only be what we are."

Madmountan exclaims, "In before: All we have to do is burn down the Landing and the surrounding farmlands!"

Lylia clarifies, "Turning it away from our town."

Speaking knowingly to Madmountan, Leafiara says, "The Maylan plan."

Pukk whispers something to Leafiara.

Speaking to Dracnoir, Evia says, "You can't blockade the wind and rain, lets hope it's not airborne hmm."

Speaking happily to Leafiara, Goblyn exclaims, "Then we can be making the town of Wehnimer's -better-!"

Cordarius shrugs at Soneiken.

Leafiara whispers something to Pukk.

Speaking to Goblyn, Gutstorm asks, "Ish it true, you baked Winston into one of your piesh?"

Speaking heartily to a gnoll worker, Chamorr says, "Go away."

Goldstr says, "Poor Gnolls."

Speaking quietly to Soneiken, Pukk says, "You should hide behind Cryheart so people don't think you're a gnoll."

Concluding Remarks

Cordarius says, "Well, I think this will work for now."

Speaking to Goblyn, Goldstr says, "I be a Guardian nar a slayer."

Leifa ominously says, "For now."

Speaking to Cordarius, Evia asks, "So tents you say? Here?"

Cordarius says, "We've got some work to begin. Crates to unload, coffins to roll out, tents to setup, yada yada."

Speaking to Pukk, Soneiken says, "I could use a new head there."

Cordarius nods at Raelee.

Cordarius says, "Tents nearby."

Cordarius nods at Evia.

Ysharra says, "I'll start gathering tonics and teas for the sickly in their..."

Chamorr heartily says, "Coffins."

Ysharra says, "...quarters."

Thrassus asks, "Coffins, hm?"

Lylia asks, "When may I expect supplies for the sick, then?"

Goblyn whispers something to Soneiken.

Cordarius says, "Yeah those lock away bad people ones."

Speaking quietly to Cordarius, Pukk says, "Okay since that is over. I have a joke for you to take back to the other imp...I mean magisters.... Did you hear the one about the man who said a wizard turned him into a harp? It turned out he was a lyre."

Thrassus says, "I see."

Speaking to Cordarius, Evia asks, "Will there be sufficient foods and waters and the like? Or is something needed?"

Thrassus asks, "You have multiple ones?"

Cordarius smirks at Pukk.

Speaking to Cordarius, Goldstr says, "Dis Knight be at yer service if needs be."

Speaking to Cordarius, Leafiara says, "Hopefully you brought one for Thadston. He's been requesting it for... weeks, maybe even months."

Cordarius says, "I will keep you posted if something is needed."

Raelee whispers something to Cordarius.

Cordarius nods at Evia.

Cordarius nods at Raelee.

Cordarius nods to Leafiara.

Cordarius says, "Indeed."

Cordarius looks over at Thrassus and shakes his head.

Lycurgus softly says, "You're just encouraging him."

Cordarius says, "Well, for him, but not, for him to get inside you know."

Speaking softly to Lycurgus, Dracnoir says, "Some are incorrigible, while others are encouragable."

Leafiara nods at Cordarius.

Lylia counters, "You have placed the blockade. It is therefore your responsibility, in part, to ensure that those who are penned by it are also supplied with wholesome food, clean water."

Evia says, "Practically speaking, there could be hundreds of people deciding to show up here if there is food and water, of course."

Speaking quietly to Dracnoir, Pukk says, "That was the same word..."

Speaking to Cordarius, Soneiken says, "Da Maaghara knows everything of da Blighted Forest, its blight, its creatures, magic, and she will share that if you can speak to her? She Rules over Blight."

Cordarius says, "I'd love to stay and talk....literally, I like to talk but..."

Cordarius says, "I should finish unpacking."

Speaking in Faendryl, Dergoatean says something you don't understand.

Cordarius says, "Maybe worth a shot."

Speaking quietly to Cordarius, Pukk asks, "Can you blow up the statue while you're here?"

Cordarius nods at Soneiken.

Speaking in Faendryl, Dergoatean says something you don't understand.

Cordarius asks, "Statue?"

Speaking to Cordarius, Soneiken says, "I just nae know her language."

Speaking quietly to Cordarius, Raelee says, "Bleakstone effigy of the mayor."

Speaking in Faendryl, Lylia says something you don't understand.

Pukk quietly says, "There is this truly scary looking statue outside of Moot Hall."

Speaking softly in Faendryl to Dergoatean, Dracnoir says something you don't understand.

Ysharra says, "Even if the statue is suspect, I don't think blowing it into pieces will be what we'd want to do."

Lylia offhandedly notes, "The ears are wrong."

Gutstorm says, "Blowing it up can't hurt."

Speaking quietly to Lylia, Pukk says, "I thought it looked up just like you."

Saarosh says, "No. If the statue is responsible, the dust from an explosion would only spread the illness."

Speaking quietly to Cordarius, Raelee says, "And worth studying in relation to this."

Ysharra says, "If the stone itself is related to the curse then it'll just scatter."

Shinann says, "It needs to go back to the Bleaklands."

Xorus says, "The Bleaklands will come to us eventually."

Shinann says, "Already have..."

Lylia says, "And as I have said for a fortnight, I do not object to its removal. You talk to the Town Council about it. I lack the physical strength to pitch it into the neighbors' yard myself."

Speaking in Faendryl, Cordarius asks something you don't understand.

Cordarius peers quizzically at Dracnoir.

Dracnoir raises an eyebrow in Cordarius's direction.

Cordarius winks at Dracnoir.

Dracnoir begins chuckling at Cordarius!

Cordarius smirks.

Cordarius says, "Sorry, inside joke."

Cordarius says, "We're good."

Speaking in Faendryl, Ysharra says something you don't understand.

Speaking softly in Faendryl to Cordarius, Dracnoir says something you don't understand.

Speaking to Cordarius, Dergoatean asks, "We are. Aren't we?"

Speaking in Faendryl, Lylia says something you don't understand.

Lylia says, "Unpacking, then."

Madmountan says, "It's probably just for picking up the Faendryl chicks, from what I know of this guy so far."

Goblyn whispers something to the olive green grik'pwal.

Pukk whispers something to Goblyn.

Lylia says, "Close enough."

Speaking to Cordarius, Dergoatean says, "Te klaloc lethe ram lette."

Cordarius says, "Now that's just jibberish."

Cordarius nods at Dergoatean.

Talonir says, "That sounds like troll speech."

Speaking softly to Cordarius, Dracnoir says, "I know a giantman warrior who trusts as far as he can throw... There are several people he can trust as far as nearby fields..."

Xorus says, "Ithzir."

Speaking to Talonir, Leafiara explains, "He's a local language expert."

Cordarius says, "Ah."

Cordarius says, "The tinthroats."

Cordarius nods.

Cordarius says, "Not something I've studied yet."

Pukk pours a few drops of perfume from his glimmaerstone flacon on himself.

Speaking quietly to Goblyn, Pukk says, "How do I smell now."

Cordarius says, "I should be off. Go about seeing the area around here for our healer tents."

Goblyn beams happily at Pukk!

Speaking quietly to Goblyn, Pukk exclaims, "Right!"

Speaking to Cordarius, Dergoatean says, "A pleasure to meet you."

Lylia says, "Be well."

Speaking to Pukk, Goblyn exclaims, "You do smell gross at first, but... it is a good smell when I am done with the whiff!"

Speaking to Cordarius, Leifa says, "Rest well, for you have much to do."

Dracnoir softly says, "May as well make a gift of brillies for all here."

Speaking in Giantman to Cordarius, Dergoatean says something you don't understand.

Pukk quietly says, "I like it too."

Lylia says, "We shall talk soon about the supplies you are sending for those tents."

Cordarius says, "Thank you all for the fine, fine company. Some more than others. And of course the not-quite-so-fast-made-me-walk-across-a-tree escort to the foothills."

Cordarius says, "I appreciate it."

Dracnoir softly says, "Hunt well, and may The Great Drakes watch over and guide thee."

Speaking to Cordarius, Goldstr exclaims, "Jess calls if ye needs!"

Mynon says, "I hope the information gathered is useful."

Bernadette softly says, "Hopes ye kin fix it."

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra says, "I'd say well-met but I'm too unsure to mean it."

Pukk quietly says, "You need to be a better Cryheart and lead us back to town."

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra says, "Good night, at the least."

Cordarius bows.

Pukk quietly asks, "Where did our leader go?"

The air begins to thicken around Cordarius, slowing his movements temporarily while pale silver motes of light swirl about him briefly.

Magister Cordarius just went south.
