Summary

 • Vlashandra wants to meet and observe the portal at Lake Eonak. Sir Cryheart leads on and the group notices colorful energy motes drifting all through the air. The portal is undisturbed, though a wisp of energy briefly reaches out to touch Cruxophim. Vlashandra hopes to complete the second step of the ritual tomorrow eve, and double-checks with Mayor Leafiara that the essences are acquired--which they are.
 • Dergoatean asks if Vlashandra needs any more of the ur'daemon from Teras Isle, which activated Aralyte's staff before, saying within less than 30 minutes people here could whip something up. She says it couldn't hurt.
 • Vlashandra asks if the patchwork abominations have attacked recently; Leafi says not since the 11th. Vlashandra asks to please keep the area protected if they return. Vlashandra says she had been asked before if she could help look into the figure who leads them in battle; she says she spotted him briefly and noted piercing green eyes, no hair, and a huge scar. She says don't hesitate to ask for assistance with removing threats we face.
 • Magister Raelee says it seems Vlashandra has unique and applicable insights--as it must take delicate work to put a new face on a body, and surely applying a kobold to a hobgoblin would be simpler. Raelee says they're crude annd lack creativity, and she didn't create this face but only wears it, saying someone had to wear it better.
 • Leafi mentions the theory that anti-magic might disrupt the patchwork creations; Vlashandra says it's a consideration, but a risky one considering the portal. Leafi agrees it can't be used on a large scale, but maybe kroderine on a smaller scale.
 • Lylia asks if the creator of the abominations lacks finesse because of urgency; Vlashandra says it's often a weakness and trusts it's only a matter of time until the Landing sniffs out the splicer.
 • Vlashandra inquires about the energy motes. Xorus notes a similarity to golden motes from years prior when Melgorehn's Reach was bleeding into the Ithzir world of Kol'Tarsken.
 • Vlashandra says she'll see everyone tomorrow.

Log

Colorful Convergence

[Town Square Central]

This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer's Landing. The impromptu shops of the bazaar are clustered around this central gathering place, where townsfolk, travellers, and adventurers meet to talk, conspire or raise expeditions to the far-flung reaches of Elanith. At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep. You also see the Adalfuns disk, a spotted great horned owl that is flying around, the Chandrellia disk, the Cynnathra disk, the Asben disk, the Guarrin disk, a heavy quartz orb, a large acorn, a solid moonstone cube, the Yukito disk, a heartbroken dune spirit that is flying around, a pale-faced coppery barn owl, some wolifrew lichen, a large acorn, a flagon of Ice Drake rum, a flagon of Ice Drake rum, a funnel-shaped deep lavender primrose, a heavy quartz orb, some stone benches with some stuff on it and an herbal remedy donation bin.

Also here: Orlicks, Adalfuns, Vaikeses who is sitting, Breeshaw, Chaoswynd, Brewtonwolf who is sitting, Lady in Waiting Chandrellia who is sitting, Rasson, Razanetika, Cynnathra, Lady Alisette who is sitting, Hapenlok, Bernadette, Finwrick who is sitting, Frazzlebang, Magister Raelee, Kippe, Mayor Leafiara, Stormyrain, Dame Evia, Guarrin, Sir Cryheart, Lord Chamorr, Yukito, Zosopage, Gypsy Scribe Balley, Krisalan

The sky begins to fill with huge clouds, dark and grey on the bottom, pale and white atop, their puffy crowns ascending toward the heavens.

Speaking softly to Alisette, Chandrellia says, "But guess what."

Leafiara curiously says, "Hm."

Speaking to Chandrellia, Alisette asks, "What?"

Chandrellia softly exclaims, "I make doughnuts!"

Chamorr heartily says, "This is nuts."

Balley softly says, "Here Ali."

Alisette exclaims, "I have a doughnut!"

Leafiara muses, "Well, there's the storm some of you have been wondering about throughout the week."

Pukk recites:

"Told you

Everybody join Cryheart!"

Vlashandra: "Good eve."

Pukk recites:

"Everybody smooch Balley"

Leafiara: "Good evening to you!"

Cryheart: "Evening Vlashandra."

Speaking to Stormyrain, Hapenlok asks, "Well, anyway....think about it, huh?"

Zosopage: "Good evening."

Cryheart says, "Vlashandra on the net."

Speaking to Stormyrain, Hapenlok says, "Right now, it appears that I'll be observing again tonight."

Chandrellia: "Good eve Vlashandra."

Leafiara: "Hopefully your research has been going well!"

Roelon: "Oiy, evening."

Alisette: "Evening."

Asben: "Evening."

Speaking softly to herself, Chandrellia says, "Something tells me..."

Speaking softly to Leafiara, Chandrellia says, "Just a feeling in the air Mayor not sure how to place it yet."

Vlashandra: "It has. I'll be along to the lake shortly. I will not be long tonight, I just wish to observe the portal."

Speaking curiously to Chandrellia, Leafiara asks, "A good feeling or bad one?"

Speaking to Cryheart, Leafiara says, "To the lake, it seems."

Alisette: "Alright, Ma'am."

Speaking softly to Leafiara, Chandrellia says, "That's what I am trying to decide."

Hapenlok says, "Well, good luck."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "Remember my fee goes up if everyone goes with you."

Speaking to Hapenlok, Leafiara says, "Just going to observe, no ritual tonight."

Roelon deeply says, "Nae the same unless Pukk says join Cryheart."

Cryheart says, "Ok..join in...headed to the Lake soon."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "Well, I'm not going near it."

Lylia: "Excellent."

Speaking to Hapenlok, Leafiara thoughtfully exclaims, "Well, your choice. Ready the pylons then, perhaps!"

Cryheart says, "Moving out."

Roelon deeply says, "Prepare in case..."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "I plan on it."

[travel]

[Melgorehn's Reach, Lake Eonak]

You are on the bank of a beautiful mountain lake that is fed by a waterfall gushing from the mountain side. There is a path which seems to actually lead up the side of the mountain. You also see the bloodstained Xorus disk with scuffed and dented sides, an emaciated chalky white imp, a reinforced wooden defense tower, a churning incarnadine portal, a cedar chip path and a barely visible trail leading into a grove of ancient trees.

Also here: Shiril, Conquerer of Reim Lylia, Shinann, Mistress Berkana, Abeer, Roelon, High Lord Asben, Pukk, Mayor Leafiara, Lady in Waiting Chandrellia, Rasson, Razanetika, Lady Alisette, Bernadette, Kippe, Dame Evia, Guarrin, Lord Chamorr, Zosopage, Gypsy Scribe Balley, Sir Cryheart, Lord Thrassus, Conquerer of Reim Xorus, Magister Raelee

Thrassus says, "It's still stable."

Leafiara muses, "Looks the same as last time, at least."

Kippe whispers something to Raelee.

Roelon deeply says, "Ah stop by once and awhile to see if anything changes. Hae nae seen much."

Roelon deeply says, "But then ah don' hae an eye for such magic."

Speaking to Cruxophim, Leafiara says, "Ahhh, now there's a sight for sore eyes. If ever we needed a blood expert..."

Speaking to Leafiara, Pukk says, "Crux might eat the blood though."

Speaking calmly to Leafiara, Cruxophim agrees, "Call for the devil, and he'll come."

Sheets of brightly-lit motes plummet toward the ground, twinkling merrily.

Speaking heartily to Leafiara, Chamorr says, "Don't invite the devil to dinner an spect him to behave."

Speaking amusedly to a churning incarnadine portal, Cruxophim remarks, "It reeks of shadows."

Thrassus asks, "The weather is a bit... strange, isn't it?"

Speaking to Cruxophim, Thrassus says, "There's a good reason for that."

Speaking to Cruxophim, Alisette says, "It is well made, by blood and element."

Cruxophim brushes his fingers lightly against a churning incarnadine portal.

A wisp of incarnadine energy curls outward from the portal, almost seeming to touch Cruxophim.

Roelon deeply says, "Very odd and interesting..."

Speaking amusedly to Cruxophim, Leafiara says, "Ah see, you're getting somewhere already."

Speaking to Cruxophim, Xorus says, "It likes you."

Speaking calmly to Alisette, Cruxophim marvels, "That makes sense. Marvelously constructed."

Cruxophim affably muses, "You all did well."

Roelon deeply asks, "Or hungry...?"

Speaking to Cruxophim, Alisette says, "Good one."

Cruxophim pleasantly admits, "Been some time, how's everyone?"

Chamorr heartily says, "Let's bash it."

Energy motes of every imaginable hue drift in aimless patterns towards the ground.

Speaking amusedly to Chamorr, Cruxophim scolds, "I see you haven't changed."

Speaking amiably to Cruxophim, Leafiara says, "Other than the intermittent attacks from invaders we keep beating back, pretty well."

Lylia replies, "Far too long. I have been well, but we have missed you dreadfully."

Speaking to Cruxophim, Hapenlok asks, "And you remember the final days, don't you? When portals like these opened up around the environs? When Cross was starting his endgame?"

Speaking firmly to Cruxophim, Alisette says, "We remain strong."

Speaking airily to Hapenlok, Cruxophim jests, "Ah, the good ol' days."

Lylia lightly says, "How fortunate that Elithain Cross is now dust beneath our feet, meant to trouble us no more."

Speaking softly to Cruxophim, Chandrellia says, "And we grow stronger every day while they seem to be losing control over their own forces."

Speaking lightly to Lylia, Cruxophim echoes, "Dreadfully."

Speaking to Cruxophim, Zosopage says, "I see you still need a bath other than a blood bath."

Speaking curiously to Hapenlok, Leafiara asks, "Well, there would have to be similarities considering what we're aiming to do, right?"

Speaking deeply to Hapenlok, Roelon asks, "More the just one of these things?"

Speaking to Cruxophim, Evia says, "I hear the new mayor was involved in a house bashing incident, house gate I should say. We call it her Gate Gate."

Speaking shortly to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "Yes."

Speaking insistently to Evia, Leafiara says, "I didn't bash the gate even once."

Speaking to Evia, Leafiara whispers aloud, "Left that to Bear and Roblar."

Speaking softly to Leafiara, Chandrellia asks, "Wait that was a house gate?"

Vlashandra walks into view.

Evia says, "Miss Flicker Flash."

Speaking amiably to Vlashandra, Leafiara exclaims, "Good eve again, this time in person!"

Balley softly says, "Hello Vlashandra."

Vlashandra grins at Leafiara.

Vlashandra says, "Mayor."

Chamorr heartily says, "Shoulda known when they yelled get off my lawn."

Brilliant motes of light twirl and descend from the skies in shifting patterns of radiance.

Speaking mildly to Vlashandra, Cruxophim admits, "I don't know that I've had the pleasure."

Vlashandra gazes with interest at a churning incarnadine portal.

Vlashandra says, "No, we have not yet."

Vlashandra nods at Cruxophim.

Speaking heartily to Vlashandra, Chamorr says, "Evenin."

Vlashandra says, "You can call me Vlashandra."

Speaking simply to Vlashandra, Cruxophim explains, "Cruxophim. You can call me Crux. Or you can just call me."

Cruxophim flashes a quick grin at Vlashandra.

Speaking softly to Chamorr, Chandrellia says, "Well they didn't have no signs up that says "keep off the grass"."

Cruxophim bows to Vlashandra.

Speaking to Vlashandra, Dergoatean says, "Heard you're bringing back the Blade. I'm in."

Speaking heartily to Vlashandra, Chamorr says, "Howdy Vlashy."

Vlashandra grins crookedly.

Speaking surreptitiously to Vlashandra, Cruxophim notes, "You look... very familiar."

Speaking to Lylia, Dergoatean says, "Whole damn plane owes its existence to her."

Vlashandra says, "Yes. I was carved to look like Raelee. But taller."

Speaking to Cruxophim, Alisette says, "She um...."

Speaking in Faendryl, Lylia murmurs something you don't understand.

Speaking playfully to Vlashandra, Cruxophim murmurs, "And more outgoing. No offence, of course."

Raelee dryly says, "... indeed."

Speaking in Faendryl, Dergoatean says something you don't understand.

Speaking to Vlashandra, Shinann asks, "Did your wounds get infected?"

Speaking to Raelee, Leafiara admits, "She's growing on some of us."

Vlashandra says, "The portal stands undisturbed. That is good."

Vlashandra glances at Shinann.

Vlashandra says, "No."

>lo vlash

You see Lady Vlashandra the Adjudicator of the Hall of Mages.

She appears to be a Human.

She is average height. She appears to be in the spring of life. She has sharp, gold-flecked snow white eyes and ashen skin. She has long, loosely ringeleted copper red hair. She has an angular face and fresh cuts in the palms of her hands. She has a series of scab-covered scars that split her thin lips and stretch up, fragmenting her face before ending just below one of her eyes. The scars on her face seem to have been cut open, with dried streaks of blood still clinging to the folded strips of flesh.

She is in good shape.

She is wearing a thin gold choker, a deeply hooded light blue robe stained with dried blood, a gold-clasped black leather satchel, and some sturdy dark leather boots.

Speaking flatly to Leafiara, Raelee says, "So noted."

A sudden gust sends the motes into a momentary whirlwind of bright color and glowing radiance.

Hapenlok mutters, "I'm gonna have to climb the damned mountain and inspect that....see if that's undisturbed."

Speaking concernedly to Vlashandra, Alisette asks, "How are you feeling?"

Speaking wryly to Vlashandra, Cruxophim mutters, "Well, ~largely unmolested."

Vlashandra says, "Hopeful."

Vlashandra nods at Alisette.

Speaking to Vlashandra, Zosopage says, "It did seem to reach out and try to touch Cruxophim."

Speaking to Erienne, Maelkyth says, "I can't make it work."

Speaking to Vlashandra, Alisette asks, "Physically?"

Maelkyth says, "Or destroy it."

Speaking softly to Vlashandra, Chandrellia says, "Undisturbed yet it seems to have taken a liking to Crux."

Vlashandra asks, "Oh?"

Vlashandra peers quizzically at Chandrellia.

Speaking to Vlashandra, Shiril says, "He does have a certain stench to him..."

Cruxophim vaguely dismisses, "Shadows like me. Like calls to like."

Speaking to Chandrellia, Leafiara speculates, "He's been to the shadow valence before, so maybe any energy from there still lingering in him is--being recognized by the energy inside?"

Speaking softly to Vlashandra, Chandrellia says, "Yes ma'am as my papa Zoso said before me it reaxhed out and tried to touch him."

The air is suffused with tiny radiant motes of energy.

Speaking amusedly to Cruxophim, Leafiara says, "Yeah, let's go with that. That's fewer words."

Vlashandra says, "It is my goal to complete the next step of the ritual tomorrow eve, most likely."

Vlashandra asks, "Are the materials acquired Mayor?"

Vlashandra peers quizzically at Leafiara.

Speaking to Vlashandra, Leafiara affirms, "Unless you need more than a couple dozen of each, they are."

Leafiara grins at Vlashandra.

Maelkyth asks, "Zoso can you point on a doll to where the portal touched you?"

Speaking affably to himself, Cruxophim whispers aloud, "Oh good, I shall endeavor to be there to assist."

Leafiara gazes thoughtfully at her glass jar. (of essences of vitality)

Brilliant motes of light twirl and descend from the skies in shifting patterns of radiance.

Vlashandra gazes up into the heavens.

Speaking to Maelkyth, Zosopage says, "I never said anything of the sort."

Vlashandra says, "Such strange, beautiful rain."

Speaking softly to Maelkyth, Chandrellia says, "Actually it tried to touch Crux not Dad."

Speaking to Vlashandra, Dergoatean says, "Do you have any use for more of the ur'daemon from Teras Isle? The stuff that activated Aralyte's staff before."

Speaking to Vlashandra, Thrassus says, "I noticed that earlier."

Roelon deeply says, "Not somethin' ah am used to seein'."

Speaking to Zosopage, Maelkyth says, "You can speak on it when you're ready. I'll wait."

Speaking to Vlashandra, Dergoatean says, "I think I still remember where it was."

Speaking to Dergoatean, Lylia says, "I know exactly where it was."

Vlashandra asks, "You have such?"

Vlashandra peers quizzically at Dergoatean.

Speaking to Zosopage, Maelkyth exclaims, "Don't scowl at me!"

Speaking to Vlashandra, Dergoatean says, "Give us 30 minutes and more than a few of us here could whip something up."

Speaking to Maelkyth, Zosopage says, "Was my turn to."

Maelkyth says, "Fine."

The air is suffused with tiny radiant motes of energy.

Maelkyth says, "Lemme know whe you crack it open."

Speaking amusedly to Dergoatean, Cruxophim offers, "I have plenty, if you require such."

Speaking to Vlashandra, Dergoatean exclaims, "Not even 30!"

Vlashandra reaches out her hand, moving her fingers to try to touch the tiny radiant motes of energy dotting the air.

Xorus indifferently says, "It is frozen in a mountain of glaes and caged within a huge vault of veil-iron."

Speaking to Dergoatean, Leafiara says, "It's true, plenty of experts even in this pretty small crowd."

Speaking cagily to Xorus, Cruxophim muses, "Seems restful."

Vlashandra says, "It could not hurt, if it is needed. Much of my research is revealed...upon completion of previous steps."

Speaking softly to Balley, Chandrellia whispers aloud, "Did you see what he did! that is amazing."

Vlashandra says, "Fascinating, truthfully."

Energy motes of every imaginable hue drift in aimless patterns towards the ground.

Vlashandra nods at Dergoatean.

Dergoatean nods at Vlashandra.

Speaking to Cruxophim, Xorus says, "It suffers magnificently."

Speaking to Cruxophim, Dergoatean asks, "Is your stockpile from the trip we made with Aralyte? And the ritual we did there?"

Ongoing Attacks

Vlashandra asks, "Have the mutants attacked recently?"

Vlashandra says, "Those patchwork abominations."

Speaking casually to Vlashandra, Cruxophim states, "Many present were there when the Eye of Ith'can was used. They may yet have residual shadow that could be tapped into."

Leafiara says, "On the 11th, but since then nothing."

Lylia says, "Define 'recent.'."

Vlashandra nods.

Roelon deeply says, "Suddenly...not ah word from them."

Guarrin says, "Not within the past few days."

Speaking vaguely to Dergoatean, Cruxophim admits, "Among others."

Roelon deeply says, "Or grunt as it were..."

Vlashandra says, "Please continue, as a favor to me, to keep this area protected should they return."

Speaking to Cruxophim, Dergoatean says, "I expected nothing less."

Zosopage says, "They must have run out of thread."

Vlashandra says, "One of you asked me to help look into the figure who seemed to lead them in battle."

Vlashandra asks, "Was it you?"

Vlashandra peers quizzically at Guarrin.

Roelon deeply asks, "They hae a reason to come here?"

Leafiara says, "They don't seem to be targeting this area, at least, but noted."

Speaking to Vlashandra, Guarrin says, "I don't believe so, but I'm also curious."

Speaking to Cruxophim, Dergoatean says, "Mind you, it wasn't the Eye itself that got shadow on everyone. I was there and never got any on me."

Speaking to Vlashandra, Leafiara says, "I'd been the one wondering, but it's okay if that would take too much of your attention."

Speaking awkwardly to Shinann, Cruxophim insists, "I had nothing to do with that. And as near as I know, it wasn't Rekarth."

Vlashandra says, "My mind has been overwhelmed lately, so I do not recall."

Vlashandra nods.

Speaking to Vlashandra, Guarrin says, "So by all means, if you know something, please share."

Leafiara says, "We could always have one of our own look into it with scrying or some such, perhaps..."

Leafiara looks thoughtfully at Balley.

Brilliant motes of light twirl and descend from the skies in shifting patterns of radiance.

Speaking to Cruxophim, Dergoatean says, "I was too busy rallying the troops to ever strike a blow against Big Al myself."

Leafiara regretfully says, "So far all attempts to track them in more conventional ways haven't worked out."

Vlashandra says, "I have no name."

Shinann says, "I never said you did..."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "Like I said. They're either teleporting in somehow...hidden in a barrier, or they're in the one place we can't go."

Speaking eagerly to Shinann, Cruxophim teases, "What a refreshing change of pace!"

Vlashandra says, "I have seen him though. Briefly."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "And I don't even want to think of them being in Deadfall, right now."

A sudden gust sends the motes into a momentary whirlwind of bright color and glowing radiance.

Speaking curiously to Hapenlok, Cruxophim ventures, "Do tell?"

Vlashandra says, "His eyes were a piercing green, no hair, and a huge scar."

Speaking hopefully to Vlashandra, Leafiara asks, "Any identifiable details we might be able to go by?"

Speaking to Vlashandra, Thrassus says, "And awfully handy with a dagger."

Leafiara says, "Ah... all panning out as Faerinn theorized, then..."

Vlashandra nods at Thrassus.

Evia asks, "What sort of scar?"

Speaking curiously to Vlashandra, Guarrin asks, "Oh...where did you happen to see him?"

Speaking to Vlashandra, Shinann asks, "Where did you see him?"

(OOC) Zosopage's player whispers to the group, "Please don't say a lightning bolt!"

Chandrellia softly asks, "Human, elf, halfling... or can he cahnge at will?"

Vlashandra says, "He seemed wild. Dangerous. I do not think it would be beneficial to keep him at large."

Sheets of brightly-lit motes plummet toward the ground, twinkling merrily.

Vlashandra says, "But I will not begin to lecture you on ways to protect your people."

Leafiara slowly agrees, "Well, on that point we can all agree, I'd hope."

Lylia dryly remarks, "Yes, we would not want any dangerous people at large in or near the Landing."

Leafiara assures, "We're doing what we can to bring his attacks to an end, for many reasons."

Lylia says, "That never happens."

Vlashandra says, "Whatever assistance I can provide in removing any threat you face, please do not hesitate to ask."

Hapenlok murmurs, "Point me towards it, and get out of my way. That's all I need."

Speaking to Lylia, Dergoatean says, "And yet we let Xorus have his run of the place."

Vlashandra says, "We needn't be only allies in one thing."

Roelon deeply says, "If we could find their camp..."

Speaking to Dergoatean, Lylia asks, "You mean Larsya's betrothed and her savior?"

Speaking to Lylia, Dergoatean asks, "Oh?"

Speaking heartily to Vlashandra, Chamorr asks, "Allies?"

Speaking to Roelon, Leafiara assures, "The militia scouts have been trying, but--well, it's most likely as Hap said earlier. Concealed by magic."

Speaking to Xorus, Dergoatean asks, "Are congratulations in order?"

Speaking to Vlashandra, Alisette says, "We need to know where they go, so we can find them. They vanish."

Speaking evenly to Vlashandra, Raelee says, "It seems you would have many unique and applicable insights. You have some expertise in adding the parts of one to another on which they do not belong."

Speaking to Chamorr, Maelkyth says, "Means peoples that works together."

Xorus says, "I can only assume I will have the blessing of the Baron of Bourth."

Speaking silkily to Raelee, Cruxophim purrs, "Be still, my heart."

Lylia whispers something to Dergoatean.

Vlashandra peers quizzically at Raelee.

Vlashandra says, "I am not sure I understand your statement."

Speaking heartily to Maelkyth, Chamorr says, "We is workin wif her, it remains to be seen if she is workin wif us."

Evia says, "It was probably the most interesting statement so far."

Speaking to an emaciated chalky white imp, Pukk says, "You must be new from the Hall of Mages."

Speaking to an emaciated chalky white imp, Pukk says, "I can tell."

Speaking bluntly to Vlashandra, Cruxophim explains, "You appear to be a bit of a... chimerical construct, of sorts."

Speaking to Chamorr, Maelkyth says, "We'll only ever know if we commit to working with her."

Maelkyth exclaims, "Ugh, plans! Plans are USELESS!"

Speaking softly to Pukk, Chandrellia says, "He's their new book keeper."

Sheets of brightly-lit motes plummet toward the ground, twinkling merrily.

Speaking to Vlashandra, Raelee says, "It must take some delicate work to to put a new face on a body. Surely applying that of a kobold to a hobgolin would be far simpler."

Speaking to Chandrellia, Pukk says, "He has their look about him."

Speaking softly to Pukk, Chandrellia asks, "Chalky white or impish?"

Vlashandra glances at Raelee.

Speaking cautiously to Raelee, Leafiara asks, "So you're saying she might be able to assess how the patchwork creatures are being, well, created? And help us maybe unravel them?"

Twinkling motes dance through the air, constantly shifting in size and hue.

Speaking to Chandrellia, Pukk says, "Exactly."

Speaking to Vlashandra, Leafiara admits, "We had been wondering, or at least some of us, if antimagic might somehow--disrupt them, if magic is holding them together. All only a theory, though."

Vlashandra says, "Those creations that have flooded out of the woods are crude and lack creativity, true creativity."

Speaking to Leafiara, Raelee says, "Insights."

Vlashandra says, "I did not create this face. I only wear it."

Speaking to Vlashandra, Maelkyth says, "The same could be said of most of those assembled."

Vlashandra says, "Someone had to wear it better."

Maelkyth says, "Don't hold that against them."

Vlashandra grins crookedly.

Hapenlok says, "Well, I manged to capture one ....mostly intact, but it ate itself to death."

Speaking to Vlashandra, Zosopage asks, "Who created that face?"

Hapenlok says, "And I'm still impressed that I was able to punch all of its limbs off."

Speaking to Vlashandra, Alisette asks, "What motivates them. Who could create and manipulate these creatures?"

Energy motes of every imaginable hue drift in aimless patterns towards the ground.

Vlashandra shrugs at Alisette.

Maelkyth exclaims, "So many questions. Questions, questions, QUESTIONS!"

Speaking amusedly to Raelee, Cruxophim reminds, "Faces are not that difficult to manipulate, with the right knowledge."

Vlashandra nods at Leafiara.

Maelkyth exclaims, "Let's turn that thing on and see where it takes us!"

Maelkyth says, "This has potential."

Vlashandra says, "Anti-magic is a consideration. A risky one, especially...."

Vlashandra glances at a churning incarnadine portal.

Speaking to Vlashandra, Lylia asks, "You make a fascinating point there. They are crude works, a cudgel rather than a blade. Whomever is doing this has skill but not finesse. Is that because there is a sense of urgency? Or simply no need to create finer works?"

Speaking to Cruxophim, Evia says, "Or a swift fist to the nose."

Vlashandra says, "With certain other things proceeding."

Thrassus asks, "Who knows? It could just be some person wanting to be the new 'warlord of the month'?"

Zosopage whispers to the group, "She is avoiding answering who created her face."

Lylia says, "The questions are, of course, rhetorical. I know we have no answers yet."

Speaking to Vlashandra, Leafiara agrees, "Yes, we can't really use it on any large scale... maybe something more targeted like kroderine, though."

Leafiara nods at Vlashandra.

Vlashandra smirks at Thrassus.

Cruxophim raises his skin mask to his face, and it leaps toward the exposed flesh. After a brief struggle, the mask attaches itself to Cruxophim's face.

Speaking to Lylia, Dergoatean says, "Sometimes you want one masterpiece. Other times, you want ten thousand trollbears."

Sheets of brightly-lit motes plummet toward the ground, twinkling merrily.

Raelee whispers something to Cruxophim.

Thrassus says, "We tend to have lots of those in the region, it seems."

Lylia admits, "Yes, sometimes finesse is not the most important priority."

Vlashandra says, "Urgency is often a weakness and opens vulnerabilities. I trust it's only a matter of time until you sniff out this splicer."

Vlashandra nods at Lylia.

(OOC) Cruxophim's player whispers to the group, "A husky voice says, "Xorus is plotting to kill you. I heard him. Strike first."."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "Antimagic, not a bad idea. But you know? I tend to beieve in easier solutions, that won't nullify half your defenders along with the attackers."

Energy Motes

Energy motes of every imaginable hue drift in aimless patterns towards the ground.

Vlashandra glances at a churning incarnadine portal.

Speaking to Cruxophim, Dergoatean exclaims, "I was having an uncannily related conversation with a barkeep just last week. I was discussing which piece of fine art I should purchase to hang in my shop, and then the epiphany - trollbear army instead!"

Maelkyth exclaims, "Right?!"

Vlashandra gazes up into the heavens.

Maelkyth says, "Like SURPRISE attacks.. the most deadly of all."

Vlashandra asks, "The energy motes. New to this area?"

Speaking to Hapenlok, Leafiara stresses, "We wouldn't use it Stephos-style like that yellow plinite, trust me. Especially not when the theory's unproven so far."

Speaking to Guarrin, Dergoatean says, "The barkeep was absolutely fascinated, I could tell."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "Find the creator. And half the war's won."

Thrassus asks, "Perhaps it's just an effect coming off the mountain?"

Speaking to Dergoatean, Guarrin says, "I'm sure that made quite the impression."

Speaking to Vlashandra, Lylia says, "I assumed they were a by-product of the portal and of the energies summoned to begin it." Vlashandra nods.

Cruxophim absently admits, "Lot going on in this area."

Twinkling motes dance through the air, constantly shifting in size and hue.

Xorus says, "This sort of thing has happened before, there were golden motes of light when the mountain was acting up, bleeding into the Ithzir world of Kol'Tarsken."

Vlashandra says, "I will see you all tomorrow."

Speaking pointedly to Xorus, Hapenlok says, "I know."

Speaking to Xorus, Leafiara says, "Careful, Hap might--"

Cruxophim primly says, "Until then."

Speaking to Vlashandra, Zosopage says, "Rest well."

Lylia asks, "Yes. Essences of...regeneration?"

Speaking to Leafiara, Shinann says, "And when we do find him, we keep him in town. Away from the Hall. Too dangerous."

Vlashandra says, "I will need the newly collected essences, and more volunteers."

Speaking earnestly to Vlashandra, Leafiara says, "It's a deal, then."

Hapenlok says, "I wanted to see if anyone else was paying attention."

Vlashandra says, "And vitality."

Vlashandra nods at Lylia.

Speaking to Shinann, Leafiara asks, "The Fist?"

Leafiara assures, "Lots of essences available indeed for tomorrow night."

Speaking to Vlashandra, Hapenlok says, "No, I'm afraid it's the last time I'll be approaching this portal."

A sudden gust sends the motes into a momentary whirlwind of bright color and glowing radiance.

Speaking to Leafiara, Shinann says, "I will discuss it with you later."

Speaking to Shinann, Leafiara says, "Well, if he is indeed who Faerinn and Rohese and others think, containing him might be difficult... we'll have to plan for it."

Speaking to Hapenlok, Maelkyth exclaims, "At least activate it first!"

Speaking to Shinann, Leafiara agrees, "We will, for sure."

Sulien mutters, "Vitality, eh."

Chamorr heartily says, "Too dang late."

Speaking patiently to Maelkyth, Hapenlok says, "Please....be silent-ish."

Xorus wryly says, "Then again, it reminds me of the colorful mists and radiances of Shadow Valley, which is magically blight stricken."

Speaking to Chandrellia, Pukk says, "Too late."

Sheets of brightly-lit motes plummet toward the ground, twinkling merrily.

Hapenlok says, "So...I see you glancing out of the side of your eyes at me."

Vlashandra grins crookedly, the blood-caked scars on her face stretching and a few small beads of blood oozing out from her facial wound and drizzling down over her lips. She quickly licks it with her tongue.

Leafiara notes, "They sure are colorful..."

Vlashandra says, "Goodnight. Until tomorrow. Thank you for your assistance."

Lady Vlashandra just went southwest.

Discussion Afterward

Zosopage says, "Well now."

Hapenlok asks, "So, what....is your problem now?"

Speaking offhandedly to Cryheart, Leafiara says, "Well, better hurry back to town before Hapenlok sends another bill to Alendrial..."

Cruxophim mildly concludes, "Yes, well now."

Speaking to Hapenlok, Pukk says, "I'm always cutting my eyes at you. But I do that in a fond way...really."

Roelon deeply says, "Tomorrow should be interestin', if it is anything like before."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok asks, "Free night. I'm here, remember?"

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "And about that bill."

Felita says, "Tomorries."

Speaking ominously to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "It's still due."

Speaking to Hapenlok, Leafiara assures, "Oh, I let her know."

Cruxophim whispers something to Shiril.

Hapenlok says, "It's easier to collect debts with this."

Hapenlok intones a phrase of elemental power while raising his hands...

Hapenlok gestures.

The ground beneath Hapenlok rumbles, then erupts in a shower of rubble that coalesces in to a large, pudgy hand in mid-air.

CS: +520 - TD: +454 + CvA: +4 + d100: +89 - +40 == +119

Warding failed!

Hapenlok tries to avoid the stone hand, but it soon catches him with a loose grip that quickly tightens.

Speaking to Hapenlok, Pukk says, "Trying to fist yourself I see."

Speaking to Guarrin, Fahlo asks, "You still cutting trees around 1 elvish?"

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok asks, "Savvy?"

Speaking slowly to Hapenlok, Leafiara says, "I gotcha, yes."

Speaking to Fahlo, Guarrin says, "I think we've enough for now."

Speaking to Fahlo, Guarrin says, "I will let you know if we head out to cut down some more."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "And I'm a man who's willing to do that to himself to make a point."

Speaking to Maelkyth, Pukk says, "Yeah, that was an unappreciated joke."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "Ten days left."

Roelon deeply says, "Seems this sparkly rain is nae just isolated 'ere. Interestin'."

Speaking to Guarrin, Leafiara muses, "I guess we'll be going from a lesson in ballistas to a lesson in blood tomorrow, or whatever her ritual this time involves."

Speaking to Pukk, Maelkyth says, "No, no... spot on. And he just doubled down."

Speaking to Maelkyth, Pukk says, "So many things I can say about that."

The air is suffused with tiny radiant motes of energy.

Leafiara marvels, "These motes really are quite something, though..."

Speaking to Maelkyth, Pukk says, "But on that note."

Pukk exclaims, "Good night everybody!"

Lylia says, "Beautiful."

Roelon deeply says, "Ah could get used to it."

Speaking softly to a churning incarnadine portal, Chandrellia asks, "What are you?"

Roelon deeply says, "Far better then the red rain."

Speaking to Chandrellia, Leafiara explains, "Ahh, this is the portal we created last week with the essences you and others donated."

Speaking in Faendryl, Iruil says something you don't understand.

Sheets of brightly-lit motes plummet toward the ground, twinkling merrily.

Hapenlok agrees, "It's beautiful. But to me? It's a sign. That we're on dangerous ground."

Speaking to Chandrellia, Leafiara says, "It's not open just yet, only--only getting started."

Hapenlok says, "Also."

Speaking softly to Leafiara, Chandrellia asks, "Yes but to where does it lead?"

Maelkyth exclaims, "It must be flung open with reckless abandon!"

Speaking surprisedly to Hapenlok, Leafiara says, "You really think so? It's not like these are blood red, shadowy motes or anything."

Cryheart asks, "To town?"

Speaking softly to Leafiara, Chandrellia says, "And I am sad to say I will not be here for tomorrow's events either."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "Not yet."

Speaking to Chandrellia, Lylia says, "Such rifts between valences are not as straightforward as ordinary doors."

Shinann: "The motes are in town."

[Town Square, East]

Here in the center of a broad plaza near the commercial area of the bazaar stands the impressive facade of the slate-roofed Moot Hall, where the citizens of Wehnimer's Landing hold various official, religious and social functions. Facing the square are some of the town's more prosperous shops, still doing business with the many customers who still frequent the streets at night. You also see a large purple wooden barrel.

Energy motes of every imaginable hue drift in aimless patterns towards the ground.

Leafiara: "Oh, maybe that's what others meant by the rain seeming unusual tonight--I hadn't seen them until we were out at the lake."

Shinann: "I suppose so."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "You realize I haven't climbed the mountain since our..."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok asks, "Lodger took up residence?"

Speaking to Hapenlok, Leafiara says, "That long, huh? Well..."

Speaking to Hapenlok, Leafiara says, "Not like there's usually much reason to go up there."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "I was content to leave it to him. But I think I'm going to have to inspect the altar."

Speaking curiously to Hapenlok, Leafiara says, "Let us know if you find anything unusual about it."

A sudden gust sends the motes into a momentary whirlwind of bright color and glowing radiance.

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "Well, i was going to open a portal to the summit."

Leafiara says, "These motes are--they're definitely something, at least."

Hapenlok says, "It's kind of hard for a man my size to climb the mountain."

Speaking to Hapenlok, Leafiara says, "I think the portal Pylasar made up on the Reach might still be up there for the trip back down, at least, but I'm not sure."

Hapenlok says, "But ...the last portal I opened took twenty years off my life."

Hapenlok asks, "Was that the one that took us back to the outpost?"

Speaking to Hapenlok, Leafiara exclaims, "Yep!"

Energy motes of every imaginable hue drift in aimless patterns towards the ground.

The Hap Recap

Hapenlok says, "I mean, the fact that the motes are happening again...."

Speaking softly to Leafiara, Chandrellia asks, "Mayor unless I am needed for anything I shall return to TSC, are we going to be in need of more essence as I am guessing?"

Leafiara repeats, "Wait, again?"

Speaking to Chandrellia, Leafiara says, "I believe we've collected more than enough, but thank you."

Speaking softly to Hapenlok, Chandrellia says, "Good even Hap."

Hapenlok says, "Yes, like Xorus said. They happened when we were dealing with the Ithzir problem."

Speaking tentatively to Hapenlok, Leafiara asks, "And... do I even want to know what came about of it?"

Hapenlok says, "I wasn't going to bring it up, but ...he did."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "We didn't die. And the outpost was returned."

Twinkling motes dance through the air, constantly shifting in size and hue.

Speaking to Hapenlok, Leafiara says, "Ohh--no wonder people who were around then aren't surprised, then."

Hapenlok says, "And there were shadowy motes coming from the mountain when it was corrupted."

Leafiara says, "So this is the same phenomena from when returning the outpost, and now the goal is to return Aralyte..."

Hapenlok says, "Yes."

Hapenlok asks, "Do you now realize what's at stake here?"

Hapenlok says, "I fought a war against Elithain Cross over this."

Speaking slowly to Hapenlok, Leafiara says, "You just said it worked out last time."

Hapenlok says, "It's not always going to 'work out'."

A stiff breeze sends the motes sheeting horizontally, and they become momentarily monochromatic.

Leafiara asks, "You're saying the risk is the corruption of the Reach?"

Hapenlok says, "All of the mana."

Hapenlok says, "The Faendryl don't care. they're so fixated on their prize."

Hapenlok says, "And quite frankly, I think at least two of them would sacrifice every man, woman and child here to bring her back."

Speaking to Berkana, Hapenlok says, "Well, if you take offense, we'll fight about it later."

Leafiara says, "Okay, so--maybe some protective measures for the Reach..."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "No. this goes beyond it now."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "Protective measures would have been me killing you all to stop you."

Speaking to Hapenlok, Leafiara asks, "Even though we haven't even opened the portal?"

Twinkling motes dance through the air, constantly shifting in size and hue.

Hapenlok says, "See, it took us defeating Althedeus, combined with Elithain being defeated."

Hapenlok says, "And even then, it was still feeding."

Leafiara asks, "To clear the corruption of the Reach?"

Leafiara asks, "And the shadow valence is what corrupted it?"

Hapenlok says, "That and all the blood."

Hapenlok asks, "Remember the trees?"

Hapenlok says, "That was a great part of the process, too."

Leafiara says, "I've only ever seen the ones in Goblyn's orchard or out in the Bleaklands, but I've heard."

Twinkling motes dance through the air, constantly shifting in size and hue.

Hapenlok says, "The whole mess is still in the Deadfall."

Leafiara says, "We're not giving blood on that scal--"

Leafiara suddenly says, "Oh."

Speaking to Hapenlok, Leafiara says, "So *that's* what's troubling you.."

Hapenlok says, "I should have been more forceful in this."

Hapenlok says, "But I'm one voice among 80. And I'm the wildcard, apparently."

Speaking to Hapenlok, Leafiara says, "You think it's too late? If only one part of three parts is done, maybe you could convince others."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "No, it's gone too far for that."

Energy motes of every imaginable hue drift in aimless patterns towards the ground.

Hapenlok says, "Short of me showing up tomorrow night and killing every last person there. It's gone too far."

Hapenlok says, "Or blasting the damn thing with a pylon."

Speaking awkwardly to Hapenlok, Leafiara asks, "Well--alright. If stopping it isn't possible, then what do we do to contain the damage if your worst cast scenario holds up?"

Hapenlok asks, "What are you doing tomorrow? Feeding it more blood?"

A stiff breeze sends the motes sheeting horizontally, and they become momentarily monochromatic.

Speaking to Hapenlok, Leafiara says, "She hasn't really told us what's happening, but I believe so."

Hapenlok mutters, "Man..."

Energy motes of every imaginable hue drift in aimless patterns towards the ground.

Hapenlok says, "The only way I can see to stop this, is to destroy the portal."

Speaking to Hapenlok, Leafiara acknowledges, "Truthfully, a lot of people are behind her. When even Cryheart was volunteering blood, that kind of thing does have weight."

Leafiara adds, "Though his blood didn't work, for some reason. ...probably should have asked about that tonight and why she thinks that is."

Hapenlok says, "The kroderine."

Leafiara says, "Ahhh."

Hapenlok says, "That's just a wild guess, though."

Leafiara says, "Of course, his armor."

Leafiara says, "Others were thinking he might just be too pure, but it's a little hard to agree when Alisette's blood worked."

The air is suffused with tiny radiant motes of energy.

Hapenlok asks, "He was willing, too....but was he really willing?"

Speaking to Hapenlok, Leafiara says, "He sure seemed it, at least."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "Leafi..."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "We may have to wake up Rodnay."

Leafiara asks, "To accomplish... what?"

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok asks, "Is it even possible?"

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "Get him off that mountain and away from it."

Speaking to Hapenlok, Leafiara admits, "I'm not sure. It's been over a year now since we've had any contact with him."

Speaking suddenly to Hapenlok, Leafiara says, "Oh, I see what you're saying."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "The last thing I want is him to become another Quinshon."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "I tried to kill him, once. I don't know how receptive he'll be to me."

Speaking slowly to Hapenlok, Leafiara says, "...right, so even if the Reach is corrupted, it wouldn't do for him to be."

Hapenlok says, "Right now, it's a matter of damage control."

A stiff breeze sends the motes sheeting horizontally, and they become momentarily monochromatic.

Hapenlok says, "Potential damage control."

Leafiara say, "Maybe I'll make the climb myself tomorrow, and try to reach out to him."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "I'll go with."

Leafiara says, "Then again, last time he pulled us up there, he was able to hear us from Moot Hall."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "Bring statues. If the corruption starts, I'll show you something fun."

Speaking to Hapenlok, Leafiara says, "Maybe we can head up after Guarrin and Viva's ballista training and before Vlashandra comes around."

Hapenlok asks, "What time is that?"

Leafiara says, "Theirs is at 10 in the evening, so probably ending around 11 or so."

Hapenlok says, "Okay, I'll plan on being up at half past eleven."

The sky begins to fill with huge clouds, dark and grey on the bottom, pale and white atop, their puffy crowns ascending toward the heavens.

Hapenlok says, "I'm telling you. I'm getting soft."

Hapenlok says, "Even 8 months ago, I would have started a war to stop this."

The fire wyrdling chuckles.

Speaking to an ember-eyed fire wyrdling, Hapenlok says, "Shut it."

Leafiara says, "Well... maybe that would have been for the best, too, but hopefully it's not entirely too late to damage control, like you're saying..."

A stiff breeze sends the motes sheeting horizontally, and they become momentarily monochromatic.

Brilliant motes of light twirl and descend from the skies in shifting patterns of radiance.

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "You know, realizing the problem doesn't mean I've got a clue on how to solve it."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "I mean, we uprooted the whole mess, and kept it on this plane. Of course it's going to be a problem."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "Me, Cruxophim and ...a lot of others dealt with Althedeus."

Hapenlok says, "I believe Azure Sun took care of the gates."

Leafiara says, "The Deadfall... hm."

Hapenlok says, "And ...I can't even remember who went after Cross at this point."

A sudden gust sends the motes into a momentary whirlwind of bright color and glowing radiance.

Hapenlok says, "If one of us had failed, we all would have been doomed."

Hapenlok says, "And now, ....almost ten years later, we may be completing his work."

Hapenlok says, "Bringing that nonsense here."

Twinkling motes dance through the air, constantly shifting in size and hue.

Leafiara says, "Mm, hopefully not..."

Hapenlok says, "I'm going to have to sleep on this."

Hapenlok says, "You know Rashere won't listen."

Leafiara says, "It's not just her. A lot of people won't."

A sudden gust sends the motes into a momentary whirlwind of bright color and glowing radiance.

Twinkling motes dance through the air, constantly shifting in size and hue.

Leafiara says, "Well... this should be interesting, no matter how it turns out."

Hapenlok says, "Yeah. And we wonder why the Hall has a presence here, and Hendor built an outpost here."

Leafiara says, "One person suggested to me trying to sabotage Vlashandra with tainted blood, but since Cryheart's just--melted the essence in her hands, he figured that wouldn't work."

Hapenlok says, "When we do foolish things and expect no consequences from it. And get angry when the humans take interest in our affairs..."

Hapenlok says, "I tend to get a little annoyed."

A sudden gust sends the motes into a momentary whirlwind of bright color and glowing radiance.

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "Okay, let me just say, that the world as we knew it, back then...could have ended that night. It probably should have."

Leafiara says, "You know, that's an interesting point... this one was Vlashandra's idea, but if it comes down to it, she *could* just try to pin it all on us."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "She will."

Sheets of brightly-lit motes plummet toward the ground, twinkling merrily.

Hapenlok asks, "Honestly. If the Fist makes a move on the portal?"

Hapenlok says, "I'm not lifting a finger."

Leafiara wryly asks, "Let him have it?"

Hapenlok says, "I might even help."

Hapenlok says, "I'm seriously at that point."

Leafiara admits, "I do find it curious that she's stayed safe from all the attacks, but wants us to protect the portal."

Leafiara says, "Oh, speaking of which--"

Speaking to Hapenlok, Leafiara says, "That portal underneath the outpost is sealed now, after our little... jaunt."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "I don't have a theory on that." [Vlashandra staying safe]

The air is suffused with tiny radiant motes of energy.

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "Because everyone decided to follow us down there." [regarding the outpost portal]

Hapenlok says, "If it had just been me, and one or two others...."

Leafiara says, "Well... I think at very least Raelee would have noticed. I bet it was her doing."

Hapenlok says, "Probably."

Leafiara says, "...*hopefully* it was her doing, anyway, and not Vlashandra doing something down there."

Hapenlok says, "We were talking about it in front of her famillar, you know."

Speaking to Hapenlok, Leafiara concedes, "Well, true."

Hapenlok says, "It's sentient, but she still sees through its eyes."

A stiff breeze sends the motes sheeting horizontally, and they become momentarily monochromatic.

Hapenlok says, "Honestly. I'm weighing my options."

Hapenlok says, "I think i'm going to have to martyr myself."

Hapenlok says, "Or at least try to rip Vlashandra's face off."

The air is suffused with tiny radiant motes of energy.

Hapenlok says, "Unmasking is fun."

Hapenlok says, "Like I said. I'm going to be up most of the night thinking about this."

Sheets of brightly-lit motes plummet toward the ground, twinkling merrily.

Energy motes of every imaginable hue drift in aimless patterns towards the ground.

Hapenlok says, "Well."

Hapenlok says, "I'm going to have to get a team of horses for that wagon over on the docks."

Leafiara says, "Okay... so in review, potentially prepare the pylon to fire on the portal if needed, attempt to warn Rodnay tomorrow..."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "The pylons."

Leafiara muses, "Probably too late to talk anyone out of any of this who isn't already convinced..."

Hapenlok says, "Whatever we can get aimed, whether from the outpost or our own."

Twinkling motes dance through the air, constantly shifting in size and hue.

Hapenlok says, "But here's why I want to wake up Rodnay."

Hapenlok says, "Not just to get him out of there."'

Hapenlok says, "But honestly, he might be able to stop it."

Leafiara says, "Ahhh... of course."

Hapenlok says, "Although I don't think he really cares much about what us mortals are up to lately."

Hapenlok says, "He's resting up."

Hapenlok says, "It's not as if we can grab him and run, anyway."

Hapenlok says, "But we give him the choice. And tell him of what I...we, think the danger may be. and go from there."

A stiff breeze sends the motes sheeting horizontally, and they become momentarily monochromatic.

Hapenlok says, "Another Quinsh-"

Hapenlok says, "...wait."

Hapenlok says, "Nah, that's too far-fetched....even for me."

Hapenlok says, "Forget it."

Hapenlok says, "But, I always wondered how Quinshon came to be. And given how screwed up time has gotten because of Naimorai and Pylasar."

Hapenlok says, "I had a thought."

Leafiara curiously admits, "I'd like to hear it, honestly."

Hapenlok says, "No. We talk to Rodnay."

Hapenlok says, "If he wants to talk. Fine."

Hapenlok asks, "If not?"

Twinkling motes dance through the air, constantly shifting in size and hue.

Hapenlok says, "Then I'll let you know about my relative theory."

Hapenlok says, "Which makes me sick thinking about it."

Leafiara says, "Fair enough."

Hapenlok says, "Considering I was present for the creation of Raznel."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "You and I go mountain climbing."

Hapenlok says, "That's all I want. No more."

Hapenlok says, "But I defer to your judgment. That's my personal desire."

Hapenlok says, "So I'm going to stop here, and go think."

Hapenlok says, "I'll be in the Manor if I'm needed."

Hapenlok says, "Just hopefully you don't need me for the next sixteen or so hours."

Hapenlok says, "A tip."

Hapenlok says, "If you put a statue on the altar and a duplicate is created? ...panic a little."

Leafiara exclaims, "Noted!"

Hapenlok asks, "If they keep getting duplicated into shadowy versions of themselves?"

Hapenlok says, "Panic a lot."

Hapenlok says, "That means that the mana's going bad."

A sudden gust sends the motes into a momentary whirlwind of bright color and glowing radiance.

Leafiara gravely says, "I see..."

Brilliant motes of light twirl and descend from the skies in shifting patterns of radiance.

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "We'll see what happens tomorrow."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "I fought a company of chosen men on my own, when i was on the run from the Count's men."

A stiff breeze sends the motes sheeting horizontally, and they become momentarily monochromatic.

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "If I have to. I'll break my word."

Speaking to Hapenlok, Leafiara asks, "...which part of it?"

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "You might have to disown me, if that happens."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "I might have to attempt to put a stop to it."

Leafiara says, "Ahh."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "We'll see."

Sheets of brightly-lit motes plummet toward the ground, twinkling merrily.

Hapenlok says, "Good night."

Speaking to Hapenlok, Leafiara says, "Nah, I wouldn't disown over that--I appreciate when our people want to take matters into their own hands."

Leafiara exclaims, "Rest well!"

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "No, Leafi....it'll get bad. You may not have a choice."

A stiff breeze sends the motes sheeting horizontally, and they become momentarily monochromatic.

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "You know how the tides turn in this town."

Leafiar says, "Never a dull moment, and ever changing opinions."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "But if they go ahead with it. And I so choose, I'll treat them like any other enemy that I've faced in this town."

The air is suffused with tiny radiant motes of energy.

Speaking gravely to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "No mercy. No remorse. No regret."

Leafiara simply says, "Noted."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "I told someone once, I never counted, after a certain point on Talador."

Brilliant motes of light twirl and descend from the skies in shifting patterns of radiance.

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "That's not entirely true."

Leafiara knowingly says, "There's always some sense of satisfaction in it, yeah."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "My personal accounting of it, was a bout four to five hundred."

Sheets of brightly-lit motes plummet toward the ground, twinkling merrily.

Hapenlok says, "Every whore in the Honey Mine burned. And every camp follower slaughtered. ....and that wasn't enough. I approached the center of the city, and I was so close to Kuligar....and Chaston."

Hapenlok says, "They got in my way, I burned them down. I threw meteors on their buildings. And when they rallied....I stopped."

Hapenlok says, "Their reinforcements finally came. And I barely made it out alive."

Hapenlok says, "No mercy."

Hapenlok says, "I only stopped when the position became untenable."

A stiff breeze sends the motes sheeting horizontally, and they become momentarily monochromatic.

Hapenlok says, "No remorse. I did it to them because they were doing it to us."

Hapenlok says, "No regret? ...well."

Leafiara knowingly says, "That has to be the way sometimess."

Hapenlok says, "I'd be lying if I didn't say I didn't have regrets."

Hapenlok says, "Especially after the songbird was taken."

Hapenlok says, "That was a line even I wasn't going to cross."

Hapenlok says, "Cosima."

The air is suffused with tiny radiant motes of energy.

Hapenlok says, "I met her. Talked with her a bit."

Hapenlok says, "The one pure and innocent soul."

Hapenlok says, "She would have come to us, eventually. If she found out what they were doing."

Hapenlok says, "And she would have."

A sudden gust sends the motes into a momentary whirlwind of bright color and glowing radiance.

Hapenlok says, "Well, I'm rambling now. It's time to go."

Leafiara says, "Rest well, Hap. We'll look into Rodnay tomorrow for sure."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "Anyway, I haven't decided yet."

Leafiara says, "And sleep on this."

Hapenlok says, "If we can make contact. Then we'll see."

Hapenlok's hands fade to complete transparency as he intones a spell...

Hapenlok gestures.

Hapenlok suddenly disappears.
