Title: Lord Ta'Mori Responds to Yardie's Letter

Author: Darphin Ta'Mori

Dear Yardie,

As I make my way back to the North this evening, I stumble upon your troubling letter. You express your worries about duty, reputation, and the weight of sins. As a fellow Faendryl, I feel your burdens and am here to lend my support, but I urge you to read my words with care.

Though I currently lead House Ta'Mori, my origins lie with the Charach lineage, the last remnants of that bloodline. My adoption into Ta'Mori was a strategic move, a chance to align with a family of greater standing than my own. They molded me into the leader I was meant to become. In my youth, I was a tempest, quick to anger and prone to violence over the slightest offense—something I believe you can relate to. Let’s be frank: before you donned the Chef’s apron or wielded the Blade, you had a different role, didn’t you? We all carry the scars of our past, shaped by our choices and the company we keep. You, too, bear your own marks.

Please know that I do not intend to chastise you; you are no child, and I am not here to play the role of a father. Rather, I wish to remind you that within us all lies the potential for transformation. My life may appear riddled with sin to many, yet it serves a greater purpose. My quest for knowledge has always driven me, and to learn, we must venture into the depths where wisdom resides.

It’s clear you seek knowledge from me, and the avenues to acquire it are few. Thus, we must navigate our own paths while confronting the shadows of our pasts. We must strive to make choices that benefit the greater good. There are many things I cannot share, as my hands are tied by our mutual thirst for understanding.

I sense your own quest for knowledge, so allow me to offer a suggestion: seek out Perigourd and inquire if he has noticed anything unusual while traversing the halls of the Marquess. Stand resolute in your convictions, Blade, for I do the same.

With warm regards, Lord Ta'Mori.
