In 1997--after GemStoneIII had moved to the Web--the annual [[Hot Summer Nights]] Auction returned, but with a twist: it was only for [[Premium]] customers.  (There had been no Auction at all in 1996; the 1995 Auction took place in August as usual, but since the [[ICE age]] was still going on, only [[Genie]] customers could take part.)  The Auction was run again in 1998, and 1999 was another skipped year.

In both 1997 and 1998, there were tents for characters of certain level ranges.  Anyone could enter all of the tents, but items would only be winnable by characters of the appropriate level.

There were lists of upcoming auction lots posted in each of those tents, and each list was specific to that tent (that is, only items on that list would be distributed within that tent).

In the year 2000 Auction, things were slightly different.  The overall item list displayed for the Premium Auction was for ''all'' of the tents, and the Auctioneer in any of the tents could produce a lot from the list.

This did make it somewhat difficult to try and win a particular item that you wanted, since there was no way of knowing in just which of the several tents a given lot would come up on the block.
