I met a man, a man with eyes like mine-<br>
He promised he’d never lie-<br>
And that’s what made us truly sublime.<br>

I met a man, a man of sun and sky-<br>
He promised he’d go slowly-<br>
And I promised that I would at least try.<br>

This man, with gold-flecks in his eyes-<br>
Gave his heart to me-<br>
His heart where absolute perfection lies.<br>

This man, so much better then I could be-<br>
Gave his very best to all-<br>
And I was grateful for the peace he gave me.<br>

I bathed in his light for a while its true-<br>
But I am me,<br>
And he was he, and I knew this wouldn’t do.<br>

I bathed in his promise, of love with a friend-<br>
But I am me,<br>
And he was he, and I feared to watch him end.<br>

So being me, I broke with the man with eyes like mine-<br>
He was better then me,<br>
And loved me enough to accept my ill resign.<br>

So being me, I killed my heart again-<br>
Still he’s better then me,<br>
And let me go my way despite the pain.<br>

We parted ways, under ill-fated night sky.<br>
It’s what I had wanted-<br>
So then why does amber still make me cry?<br>
